everyone
and
welcome
to
the
Cartwright
Elementary
School
District
governing
board
regular
meeting
for
April
20th
27
2023.
Let
the
record
reflect
that
it
is
now
5
14
p.m.
We
do
apologize
for
the
late
start
this
evening
and
our
meeting
is
in
session
all
right.
Let
the
record
further
reflect
that
we
do
have
participating
telephonically
this
evening
governing
board
member
Miss
Lydia
Hernandez.
Thank
you
for
being
here
this
evening
with
Hernandez
and
we'd,
also
like
to
wish
her
a
very
happy
birthday.
C
Thank
you.
Thank
you.
Also
present
is
Vice
President
Denise
Garcia
president
in
the
boardroom
and
myself
Marissa
Hernandez
present
in
the
boardroom
as
well.
Item

Allegiance,
which
is
going
to
be
presented
in
a
video
by
Justine's
petone

when

as
we
are
led
by
our

so
adorable.
B
C
Item
three
is
Our
Land
acknowledgment,
the
Cartwright
School
District
is
located
on
the
ancestral
homelands
of
the
Hohokam
akame
and
Druid
people,
ancestors
of
the
Salt
River
Prima,
Maricopa,
Indian,
Community
or
srm--pic.
We
acknowledge
the
rich
oral
history
culture
of
these
communities
and
their
ancestral
ties
to
the
land
with
that,
I
would
like
to
make
a
motion
for
approval
of
tonight's
agenda
as
presented.
C
Second,
thank
you.
We
do
have
a
motion
made
by
myself,
Marissa
Hernandez
and
a
second
by
vice
president
Denise
Garcia.
We
will
not
do
discussion.
We
will
have
roll
call
Miss
Lydia
Hernandez.
How
do
you
vote
governing
board
member?
Thank
you,
Miss
Hernandez.
Vice
president
Garcia.
How
do
you
vote
I
vote
I?
Thank
you.
Miss
Garcia
I
would
as
well
motion
encouraged
unanimously,
and
we
have
an
adopted
agenda
for
this
evening's
meeting
on
to
item
five,
which
is
our
Cartwright
School
District
Number
83
Award
of
Excellence,
which
will
be
presented
by
Mr
Victor
Hugo
Rodriguez.
D
D
They
were
chosen
for
this
award
for
their
commitment
to
serve
the
miracle
Community
surrounding
the
carvery
school
district,
Robert
Escovedo
graduated
from
Atkinson
Middle
School
at
18.
He
was
a
janitor
for
the
district
I.
He
went
on
to
get
a
degree
from
University
of
Phoenix
and
a
master's
from
Thunderbird
University.
She
grew
up
in
the
Maryville
area.
Him
and
his
family
are
always
looking
for
opportunities
to
pay
forward
and
help
other
people.
D
He
joined
the
West
Valley
Mavericks,
a
long
officer,
Chris,
isborn
and
officer
Chris,
Gallego
officer
Gallego
also
graduate
attended,
CW
Harris
school
and
he
grew
up
in
this
community
throughout
the
year.
They
do
fundraising
events
to
ensure
that
our
Scholars
will
be
able
to
participate
in
Shop
with
a
cab
during
the
holidays.
So
we
thank
you
for
your
dedication
and
commitment
to
help
those
in
need,
and
tonight
we
honor
Robert
Escovedo
officer,
Chris,
isborn
and
officer
Chris
Gallego
from
the
West
Valley
Mavericks.
E
E
A
little
bit
about
what
we
like
to
do
is
since
2012
we've
given
back
to
the
West
Valley,
specifically
two
million
dollars
this
last
year
alone,
we
gave
out
six
hundred
thousand
dollars
to
West
Valley
Charities
and
we
hope
to
grow
that
to
a
million
dollars
per
year.
It's
part
of
our
Five-Year
Plan,
we're
two
years
into
that,
and
both
of
these
guys
I
thought
it
was
appropriate
to
bring
him
along
with
me.
E
F
I
think
I
think
Robert
pretty
much
said
everything
coming
in
here,
I've
seen
a
lot
of
familiar
faces,
a
lot
of
the
schools,
I
I'm,
a
community
action
officer
that
works
out
of
the
Mary
Bell
Estrella
Precinct
anyways,
so
I
have
a
lot
of
relationships
with
some
of
the
folks
back
here.
F
But
it's
great
coming
back
here
like
like,
he
was
saying,
started
school
at
Harris.
My
family
grew
up
in
the
area,
so
it
was
good
coming
back.
Well,
I've
never
left,
but
you
know
even
playing
Cartwright
little
league
in
the
late
70s.
You
know
it's
always
been
a
good
place.
It's
always
been
home.
So
we
appreciate
this
and
the
Mavericks.
We
love
what
we're
able
to
do
for
the
district
and
the
kids.
G
Same
thing,
my
my
parents
were
raised
in
the
Cartwright
School
District
I
was
born
and
raised
myself
in
this
area
in
Maryville.
It
is
an
honor
to
give
back
and
that
you
guys
continue
to.
Let
us
you
know
be
part
of
the
the
group,
and
you
know
like
not
only
shop
at
the
cop,
that
you
allowed
us
to
come
back
and
do
present
turkeys.
We
we
were
honored
to
do
that,
so
we're
privileged,
so
I
appreciate
it.
Thank
you.
A
I
am
in
terms
of
I,
know
it's
Robert
or
Jesse
and
Escobedo
I.
Thank
you
all
for
your
service.
Everyone!
That's
there
today,
but
specifically
more
Robert
and
Jesse
growing
up
in
Maryville
and
seeing
them
go
up
into
fine
young
men.
I
just
want
to
say,
I
love,
you
guys
and
I
am
so
proud
of
you.
Thank
you.
C
All
right,
congratulations
and
thank
you.
So
much
with
that,
we
are
going
to
move
on
to
item
D
move
right
past
it.
We
do
not
have
any
call
to
the
public.
For
the
evening.
We
are
moving
on
to
item
e,
which
is
our
consent,
agenda,
consideration
and
possible
discussion
of
comments
and
complaints.
Sorry
wrong
area
of
my
speech,
our
this
is
regarding
consent
agenda.
Our
adopted
roles
of
parliamentary
procedure
provide
for
a
consent
agenda
listing
several
items
for
approval
of
the
board
by
a
single
motion.
C
Items
listed
under
the
consent
agenda
have
gone
through
a
review
and
recommendation
process.
Documentation
concerning
these
items
has
been
provided
to
all
board
members
and
the
public
in
advance
to
ensure
an
extensive
and
thorough
review
items
may
be
removed
from
the
consent
agenda
at
the
request
of
any
board
member.
C
All
right
with
that
I'd
like
to
make
a
motion
for
approval
of
tonight's
consent
agenda,
as
presented
at
the
cartridge
Elementary
School
District
Number
83
regular
governing
board
meeting
for
Thursday
April
27
2023.
do
I
have
a
second
second.
That
motion.
Thank
you,
Miss
Garcia.
We
do
have
a
motion
made
by
myself,
Marissa
Hernandez
and
a
second
by
vice
president
Denise
Garcia.
We
will
proceed
with
our
roll
call
vote
governing
board
member
Lydia
Hernandez.
How
do
you
vote
hi?
Thank
you,
Miss
Hernandez!
Vice
president
Garcia.
How
do
you
vote
I
vote?
I?
Thank
you.
C
H
H
And
it's
wonderful
to
see
all
the
family
members
here
so
first,
our
Prince,
our
current
principal
of
Davidson
Elementary,
School
Delilah.
We
call
her
DD
ghostler
Carr
she's,
going
to
be
our
new
director
of
special
services.
So
please
come
forward.
Please
come
forward.
H
H
C
I
Good
evening
president
Hernandez
superintendent
Aguilar
Lawler
governing
board
executive
team
members,
members
in
our
audience
and
those
watching
on
YouTube
we've.
We
are
submitting
a
revision
to
the
2324
school
calendar
to
add
some
early
release
days
on
two
days
for
parent-teacher
conference
dates
on
Thursdays.
The
early
release
times
would
be
11
45
AM
for
early
start
schools
and
12
30
PM
for
late
start
schools.
I
This
came
up
during
a
teacher,
Advisory
Group
meeting,
and
it
was
brought
up
as
a
concern
that
it
would
be
difficult
to
accomplish
all
of
the
Parent-Teacher
conferences
with
the
elimination
of
our
Friday
mornings.
So
therefore,
they
made
a
recommendation
that
we
needed
to
add
a
half
to
Young,
to
Thursdays
one
in
October
and
one
in
March
to
accommodate
all
of
our
parents
and
provide
our
Educators
additional
conference
time
in
order
to
ensure
all
conferences
are
completed.
We
took
this
recommendation
to
our
parent
advisory
group
and
our
Advisory
Group
was
agreeable
to
the
recommendation.
I
C
C
Okay,
that
shouldn't
be
as
difficult
I'd
like
to
make
a
motion
for
approval
of
the
2020
324
Cartwright
School
District
calendar
with
the
revisions
stated
by
Dr
Cruz
at
the
Cartwright
Elementary
School
District
governing
board
regular
meeting
for
Thursday
April
27
2023.
do
I
have
a
second
I.
Second,
that.
A
C
You
thank
you
Miss
Hernandez.
We
do
have
a
motion
made
by
myself,
Marissa
Hernandez
and
a
second
by
governing
board
member
Lydia
Hernandez.
We'll
do
our
roll
call
vote,
Ms
Hernandez?
How
do
you
vote
I?
Thank
you.
Vice
president
Garcia,
how
do
you
vote
I
vote
I.
Thank
you.
I
vote
as
well
in
the
motion
carries
unanimously.
Thank
you.
Thank.
H
Thank
you
board,
president
members
of
the
governing
board
have
presenting
tonight
our
governing
board
meeting
proposal
for
next
year,
taking
into
account
all
the
financial
obligations
that
we
have
to
get
approved
by
the
board
and
all
the
conferences
that
our
governing
board
attend
and
we
try
to
take
care
of
parent-teacher.
We
tried
everything
we
had
many
eyes
on
it,
so
we're
hoping
that
this
calendar
of
board
meetings
that
everyone
in
the
audience
will
have
an
early
idea
of
where
our
meetings,
when
our
meetings
are
going
to
be
so.
Thank
you.
C
Thank
you,
Dr
Aguilar.
Any
questions
on
the
item
from
the
governing
board.
All
right
with
that
I
am
going
to
make
a
motion
for
approval
of
the
2023-2024
governing
board
meeting
dates
at
the
cartridge
Elementary
School
District
governing
board
regular
meeting
for
April
27
2023.
do
I
have
a
second
thank
you,
Miss
Hernandez.
We
do
have
a
motion
made
by
myself,
Mrs
Hernandez
and
a
second
by
governing
board
member
Lydia
Hernandez
will
do
a
roll
call
vote
governing
board
member
Lydia
Hernandez.
How
do
you
vote
hi?
Thank
you,
Miss
Hernandez!
Vice
president
Garcia.
C
H
I'm
Madam,
president
may
I
have
the
floor.
Yes,
of
course,
thank
you.
Madam
president,
members
of
the
governing
board,
the
principals
and
audience
tonight
is
a
definitely
an
interesting
meeting.
Miss
Lydia
Hernandez
was
not
supposed
to
be
here.
She's
doing
is
a
huge
favor
and
I
really
appreciate
it.
So
I'd
like
to
recommend
that
we
move
the
items
that
are
the
rest
of
the
items
that
are
currently
on
the
agenda
to
the
May
meeting.
C
All
right
saying
no
objections:
Miss
Hernandez
is
that
okay,
so
that
we
could.
Is
it
okay
if
we
move
items
G
through
H
to
the
next
meeting
for
May
11th,
so
that
we
can?
Let
you
get
back
to
your
birthday
celebration.
A
No,
that's
fine
I'm!
Actually
at
my
DOT,
my
granddaughter's
basketball
game
that
she's
been
asking.
C
C
Yes,
okay,
so
then
I'd
like
to
make
a
motion
for
approval
of
moving
items.
G
report
summary
current
events
through
item
h
on
to
the
May
11th
2023
regular
governing
board
meeting,
do
I
have
a
second
thank
you.
We
have
a
motion
made
by
myself,
Marissa
Hernandez
and
a
second
by
vice
president
Garcia.
We'll
do
our
roll
call
vote
governing
board
member
Lydia
Hernandez?
How
do
you
vote
I?
Thank
you,
Ms
Hernandez,
vice
president
Garcia.
How
do
you
vote
hi
vodai?
Thank
you.
Miss
Garcia
Ivory
as
well
in
the
motion
encouraged
unanimously.
C
We
might
be
getting
everybody
out
of
here
in
the
shortest
meeting
ever
in
the
history
of
Cartwright.
I
know
everybody's,
like
Steve.
With
that
we're
going
to
move
on
to
item
I,
which
is
our
announcement
of
future
meeting
date
and
other
routine
information
for
the
governing
board.
The
next
regular
governing
board
meeting
will
be
held
on
Thursday
May
11
2023
at
five
o'clock
P.M
at
the
Cartwright
School
District
large
boardroom,
the
governing
board
retreat
will
be
held
on
May
18th
at
5
30.
Also
in
the
boardroom
item.
C
J
is
our
adjournment
so
I'd
like
to
make
a
motion
for
adjournment
of
the
cartridge
Elementary
School
District
governing
board
regular
meeting
for
Thursday
April
27
2023
do
I
have
a
second
second.
Thank
you,
Miss
Garcia.
We
do
have
a
motion
made
by
myself,
Marissa
Hernandez,
a
second
by
vice
president
Garcia,
and
our
roll
call
vote
governing
board
member
Lydia
Hernandez.
How
do
you
vote
hi?
Thank
you,
Ms
Hernandez,
vice
president
Garcia.
How
do
you
vote
I
vote
I.
Thank
you.
Miss
Garcia
I
vote
as
well,
and
the
motion
carries
unanimously.
