A
A
Let
the
record
reflect
that
present
in
the
boardroom
this
evening.
We
do
have
governing
board
member
ms
lydia
hernandez.
Thank
you
for
being
here
this
evening,
ms
hernandez.
We
also
have
governing
board
member
ms
denise
garcia
present
in
the
boardroom.
Thank
you
for
being
here
this
evening
and
myself,
president
marissa
hernandez
in
the
board
room
this
evening.
A
E
A
C
A
Okay,
thank
you
governing
board
member
hernandez.
How
do
you
vote
hi?
Thank
you,
miss
hernandez
vice
president
lopez.
How
do
you
vote?
How
do
you.
A
We
do
have
our
very
special
representatives
here
this
evening
and
so
I'd
like
to
introduce
everyone.
Our
parent
representative
is
miss
laura
martinez,
miss
louder.
Martinez
has
two
children,
her
daughter
previously
attended
sunset
and
estrella
middle
school.
Currently
she
is
a
12th
grader.
Her
son
is
an
8th,
grader
attending
raul,
h
castro
academy
of
fine
arts.
Miss
martinez
has
been
part
of
the
cartwright
school
district
community
for
12
years
and
enjoys
being
involved
in
the
schools
that
her
children
attend.
A
Lara
martinez
is
the
parent
advisory
council
president
and
has
held
that
title
for
four
years
and
she
feels
very
honored.
She
is
a
great
listener,
communicator
and
advocate
for
our
scholars
and
families
as
a
parent.
She
appreciates
how
our
superintendent,
dr
aguilar,
lawler,
has
handled
the
pandemic
and
the
return
of
this
2021-2022
school
year
protecting
our
scholars
and
their
families.
Ms
martinez
has
also
received
her
emergency
substitute
certificate
and
is
currently
working
on
becoming
certified.
A
Our
next
representative
is
alex
casarez,
our
cartridge
education
association
representative
for
this
evening,
alex
quezadas
has
been
working
at
cartwright
for
over
five
years.
He
is
one
of
the
techs
in
the
I.t
department.
He
is
an
active
member
in
the
community
and
canvasses
when
he
can
for
teachers,
esps
students
and
families
of
cartwright.
A
He
serves
as
the
cea
treasurer
and
former
chair
for
the
negotiations
committee
he's
fluent
in
english,
spanish
and
the
weird
funny
sounds
teachers
make
when
they
describe
their
tech
problems.
Did
you
turn
it
off
and
on
again,
thank
you
for
being
here
this
evening.
We
value
you
being
here
as
you're.
The
ceo
representative.
Thank
you.
A
All
right
and
last,
but
certainly
not
least,
we
have
miss
janet
hecht,
who
is
our
principal
representative
from
spatoni.
So
ms
janet
hecht
is
the
proud
principal
of
spatoni
steam
school.
This
is
her
26th
year
in
education
and
her
26th
year
in
cartwright.
Yes,
she
has
had
the
pleasure
of
rebranding
svetoni
and
becoming
cartwright's
newest
k-8.
School.
Janet
is
appreciative
of
her
awesome,
school
and
community.
A
F
F
This
is
a
nomination
that
the
superintendent
wrote
herself
personally,
so
I
am
simply
relaying
her
words
laura
you
were
chosen
because
of
your
extensive
and
exemplary
service
to
cartwright.
You
became
the
voice
of
parents
and
helped
them
raise
their
own
voices.
They
had
concerns
and
wanted
to
make
changes,
but
you
led
with
the
idea
that,
if
you're
going
to
have
concerns,
you
must
present
ideas
to
fix
them.
F
You
ensured
that
celebrations
started
each
meeting.
Our
parents
number
one
concern
was
ensuring
more
opportunities
for
their
children
while
attending
cartwright
schools.
They
also
wanted
to
be
partners
at
their
schools
and
solidify
a
safe
and
caring
environment
for
all
scholars.
You
also
advocated
for
children
in
our
district
with
special
needs.
F
This
is
your
last
year
and
we
are
so
sad
about
that,
especially
me,
dr
aguilar
lawler.
Your
leadership
has
been
incredible.
We
have
met
in
person
texted
and
even
spoken
on
the
phone.
Often
my
door
is
always
open
and
it
will
be
even
so
after
this
year
that
the
celebration
is
that
over
the
course
of
the
last
four
years,
you
are
now
ready
to
become
a
cartwright
teacher
in
our
great
school
district.
F
So,
although
you
will
not
be
a
member
or
the
president
of
pac
next
year,
you
will
still
be
advocating
for
scholars
and
fellow
staff
members
in
our
one
team
una
familia,
wonderful
school
district,
lara
martinez.
Please
come
forward
to
accept
cartwright's
award
of
excellence,
and
can
we
have
board
members
and
the
superintendent
down.
So
we
can
take
a
picture
with
laura.
C
G
Okay
good
evening,
dr
aguiler
president
hernandez
governing
board
members
and
everyone
in
attendance,
it's
been
an
honor
to
me
for
me
to
be
here,
be
part
of
the
car
familia
for
many
years.
13
years
my
daughter
started
kinder
at
sunset
now:
she's
graduating
from
high
school
and
my
son
is
promoting
from
eighth
grade.
G
G
G
G
G
Dr
davis
she's,
the
best
psychologist
I
have
ever
met,
and
I
have
met
a
lot.
She
knows
how
to
talk
to
my
son
and
all
my
iep
meetings.
I
think
my
son's
iep
meetings
have
been
hard,
but
with
her
there
I
feel
that
the
ip
the
iep
meetings
have
been
so
easy.
She
knows
how
to
listen
to
parents
and
bring
solutions
if
needed,
miss
denise.
G
G
G
A
H
H
H
H
I
needed
to
say
this
before
you
made
the
decision
on
behalf
of
the
carbide
school
district,
the
principals
and
myself
and
the
executive
leadership
team.
I
want
to
say
thank
you
and
with
that
I
will
introduce
dr
juan
madrano
another
hero.
He
and
his
team,
moss
and
adam
have
been
just
relentless.
So
dr
juan
mata
rodrano.
I
F
I
Members
of
the
governing
board
audience
and
attendance
as
requested,
we
have
some
data
to
share
in
regards
to
the
survey,
the
parent
and
staff
survey
that
was
sent
out
following
our
last
governing
board
meeting
covering
two
questions
around
our
mass
mandate:
practices
here
in
the
cartwright
school
district.
So
we
just
wanted
to
share
with
you
a
breakdown
of
the
results
of
that
for
to
have
the
to
have
the
data
to
have
initiate
the
discussion
for
tonight
as
to
the
direction
that
we
decide
to
go
so
okay.
So
there
was.
I
So,
in
total
for
parents
we
had
over
one
thousand
nine
hundred
parent
response
parent
responses.
There
was
a
pretty
even
distribution
of
participation
across
all
of
our
schools.
We
had
good
representation
from
each
from
each
school
and
the
first
question
that
was
posed
was
do:
do
you
want
the
cartwright
school
district
to
continue
with
our
current
indoor
mass
mandate
and
of
our
parents
who
responded
50
a
little
over
59
59.3
responded
that,
yes,
they
would
want
to
continue
with
the
current
indoor
mass
mandate
and
40.7
percent
said
no.
I
There
were
various
reasons
and
and
rationale
that
parents
had
in
support
of
their
of
their
selection,
and
we
listed
some
of
those
comments
that
were
made
in
the
open-ended
section
of
the
survey,
so
as
one
of
them
shows
there.
Yes,
as
the
west
side,
continues
to
see
an
increase
in
covet
cases
and
a
lot
of
grown-ups
as
well
as
children
are
unvaccinated.
I
Children
are
susceptible
to
viruses
and,
most
of
them
being
asymptomatic
to
covet.
This
could
lead
to
them
being
carriers
and
transfer
them
to
high-risk
adults.
Another
comment
was,
I
think
the
district
can
use
the
funds
for
use
for
mask
and
allocate
them
to
resources
and
tools
to
teachers
and
then
another
one.
My
kids
are
vaccinated
and
I
feel
safe
for
him
not
to
wear
a
mask.
So
there
are
a
variety
of
reasons
and
rationale
that
parents
expressed
for
their
selection.
I
I
And
then
our
staff
survey
there
was
1
305
responses
and
the
same
two
questions
were
asked.
So
do
you
first
one
is
whether
or
not
to
continue
with
the
indoor
mask
mandate
and
of
our
staff
members
69
said
no
to
continuing
with
the
indoor
mass
mandate
and
31
said.
Yes
to
that,
and
we
had
a
mix
of
responses,
some
wanting
to
continue.
We,
we
should
just
continue
through
the
end
of
the
year,
while
others
felt
at
this
point.
I
Another
comment
you
see
here
is
that
it's
not
being
required
in
many
places
at
this
point
throughout
the
country,
so
they
would
feel
okay
not
having
a
requirement,
and
the
second
question
was:
do
you
want
the
cartwright
school
district
to
make
make
you
make
the
use
of
mask
indoors
optional
and
our
staff
members
74.3
said
yes
that
they
would
like
it?
They
would
like
to
see
it
be
optional
and
25.
A
Perfect,
mr
lopez,
do
you
have
any
questions.
B
A
I
There
are
other
options,
as
mr
etheridge
had
presented
in
previous
governing
board
meetings.
We've
used
it,
we've
used
escrow
funds
across
a
variety
of
different
places,
just
to
support
everything
related
to
covet
impact.
I
So
I
can't
remember
all
of
them
off
the
top
of
my
head,
but
there
there
are
some
other
areas
where,
where
we
would
be
able
to
utilize
it
like
in
some
possible
curriculum
areas
and
classroom
furniture,
and
things
like
that,
so
there
is
that
possibility.
A
D
J
J
And
although
I
see
almost
it's
not
quite
balanced,
but
you
see
parents
wanting
to
continue
with
the
mandate
at
the
same
time,
staff
is
open
to
to
leave
it
as
an
option
moving
forward.
I
am
having
a
tendency
to
to
go
with
the
optional
leading
us.
We've
gotta
at
one
point
or
another
start
weaning
us
into
our
daily.
You
know
activities
gradually
and
I
think
that's
going
to
be
the
only
the
only
way
to
do
it.
J
C
Thank
you.
Madam
president,
dr
aguilar
lawler
fellow
board
members
executive
team,
all
those
in
attendance.
Thank
you,
dr
madrano,
and
I
especially
would
like
to
acknowledge
dr
fauci
and
stating
that
the
pandemic
is
hopefully
behind
us,
and
I
too
was
paying
close
attention
as
to
the
results
of
those
who
are
interested
in
perhaps
promoting
as
recommended,
but
having
the
option.
C
B
B
We
do
see
where
the
community
is
leaning
and
where
the
staff
members
are
meaning
the
parents.
And
yes,
although
you
know
we
are
entering
a
phase
where
this
pandemic
is
not
as
aggressive
as
it
was
before.
I.
B
I
do
believe
that
at
this
point
at
least
having
the
optional
use
of
the
mask
will
be
a
good
idea,
because
I
do
have
siblings
in
other
school
districts
that
are
also
optional,
and
you
know
some
students
and
staff
are
still
choosing
to
wear
a
mask,
protect
themselves,
protect
their
families
and
do
their
part
as
well.
A
First
fellow
governing
board
members,
dr
aguilar
luller
dr
madrano,
esteemed
professionals
in
the
audience
cabinet
and
everyone
viewing
and
joining
us
on
youtube.
A
I
first
want
to
say
that
the
young
lady
in
the
photo
was
super
adorable
that
was
used
for
the
presentation
now
that
that's
out
of
the
way.
A
Someone
is
not.
We
won't
be
able
to
please
everyone,
but
the
option
to
make
it
optional
would
allow
more
of
a
choice,
and
hopefully
people
would
be
you
know.
Parents
in
our
community
would
be
happy
about
it,
and
I
know
my
son,
you
know
phoenix
union
dropped
their
mask
mandate
quite
a
while
ago,
and
my
son
still
wears
his
mask.
A
The
first
two
slides
was:
do
you
want
us
to
keep
the
mask
mandate
and
59
of
the
parents
said
yes
and
the
next
one
was?
Do
you
want
us
to
make
the
mask
indoor
mask
mandate
optional
and
we
had
62
percent
of
people
say
yes,
so
it
makes
me
wonder:
do
the
parents
who
want
the
mask
mandate
to
stay?
Are
they
okay,
then?
A
If
it
was
optional,
it
kind
of
makes
me
feel
a
little
more
secure
in
that,
because
they
would
all
be
answering
all
the
four
well,
the
two
questions,
because
it's
two
and
then
the
staff
had
two.
It
makes
me
feel
a
little
more
comfortable,
making
a
decision
like
that
with
my
board,
because
they
did
overwhelmingly
choose
to
have
it
as
an
option.
H
Madam
president,
members
of
the
board
audience
special
guest.
I
also
wanted
to
make
sure
that
the
governing
board
knew
and-
and
this
is
through
our
pac,
our
pac
and
in
our
pack,
that
this
decision
for
options
is
through
the
end
of
the
school
year,
which
would
include
summer
school
that
the
decision
about
masking
or
even
masking
it
are
optional.
All
of
that
for
the
following
school
year
is
a
different
decision.
A
Thank
you,
okay.
Well,
that
feels
good.
Okay,
I
feel
better,
knowing
that
our
our
pact
did
discuss
it
and
it's
we've
got
a
blessing
okay,
if
no
further
discussion,
we
can
go
ahead
and
make
a
motion.
I'm
happy
to
make
a
motion.
A
A
Thank
you,
linda,
perfect.
Okay,
all
right,
so
I
would
like
to
make
a
motion
for
approval.
At
the
cartwright
elementary
school
district
governing
board
meeting
of
april
28
2022.,
the
governing
board
of
the
cartwright
school
district
proposes
that
face
mass
will
be
optional,
effective
april
29th
2022
through
the
end
of
the
school
year
and
summer
school,
based
on
the
results
of
the
summer,
the
survey
provided
by
parents
and
employees.
A
So
I
moved
for
approval,
making
face,
masks,
optional,
effective
april
29,
2022
and
through
the
end
of
our
summer
school.
Do
I
have
a
second
second.
Thank
you
all
right.
So
we
do
have
a
motion
made
by
myself,
marissa
hernandez
and
a
second
by
governing
board
member,
miss
lydia,
hernandez.
We've
already
had
discussion.
I
think
that's,
my
computer,
making
the
noise.
A
J
And
I
have
a
just
a
clarification
question
regarding
the
motion
on
the
table.
I
know
it's
optional,
so
I'm
understanding
that,
but
does
that
open
up?
Is
this
applicable
to
the
entire
school
district,
including
board
meetings
or
any
other
meeting?
B
A
Thank
you,
mr
lopez.
I
would
I
as
well,
and
we
have
a
unanimous
decision,
let
the
record
reflect.
We
will
be
mask
optional
as
of
april
29th,
2022
and
through
the
end
of
through
the
end
of
summer
school.
Thank
you.
A
So
now
we'll
move
on.
Thank
you,
dr
madrano.
Now
we'll
move
on
to
item
two
which
is
being
presented
by
ms
susan
doyle.
It
is
our
second
reading
for
discussion
and
information
regarding
proposed
request
to
remove
current
cartwright
school
district
policy.
Gdca
support
staff
sickly
from
the
cartwright
school
district
policy
manual.
K
So
this
is
our
second
reading
about
removing
policy
gdca
and
it's
simply
because
it's
redundant
with
policy
gcca
which
covers
all
of
our
employees
and
so
one
of
the
things
we
discussed
in
meet
and
confers
it
was
kind
of
confusing
to
people.
So
we
didn't
need
both
of
them
because
they
say
the
same
thing
so
we're
recommending
that
removal.
I
know
last
time
we
did
not
read
the
whole
thing
aloud,
because
it's
pretty
lengthy
and
everyone
has
access
to
it.
So
if
you're,
okay
with
that
again,
I
won't
read
it
over
to
you
again
is.
A
A
I'd
like
to
make
a
motion
for
approval
of
to
remove
current
cartwright
school
board

regular
governing
board
meeting
of
april
28
2022..
Do
I
have
a
second
second?
Thank
you
miss
garcia,
so
we
have
a
motion
made
by
myself,
marissa
hernandez
and
a
second
by
miss
governing
board
member
denise
garcia.
A
We
will
not
have
discussion
we'll
do
a
roll
call
vote,
so
miss
garcia.
How
do
you
vote?
I
thank
you,
miss
hernandez.
How
do
you
vote?
Thank
you,
miss
hernandez
vice
president
lopez.
How
do
you
vote.
B
A
Thank
you,
mr
lopez,
and
I
vote
as
well,
and
that
motion
carries
unanimously
as
well.
Thank
you
all
right,
susan's
on
to
the
next
one.
So
item
three
is
miss
susan
doyle
for
our
second
reading
and
discussion,
information
and
possible
adoption
regarding
proposed
revision
to
current
cartwright
school
district
policy,
gcch

marie

Thank
you.
K
K
The
term
family
member
may
also
include
a
person
for
whom
the
employee
has
assumed
the
rights,
duties
and
responsibilities
as
a
guardian
or
a
person
who
is
living
in
the
same
household
as
the
employee
at
the
time
of
death.
So
basically
we're
just
updating
policy
again
to
reflect
the
definition
of
a
family
member
that
we
currently
have
in
policy
gcca,
and
that
also
reflects
the
current
reality
that
we
have
a
much
more
diverse
family
makeups
than
perhaps
we
had
in
the
past.
And
we
want
to
be
cognizant
of
that.
C
Ahead,
miss
gracia,
thank
you.
Madam
president,
dr
aguilar
lawler
fellow
board
members
all
those
in
attendance.
Thank
you.
We
really
appreciate
the
language
because
we
have
so
many
people
who
are
so
close
and
we
don't
always
get
to
choose
our
biological
family,
and
so
I
believe
that
that
speaks
to
everyone,
letting
everyone
know
that
they
they
do
matter.
So
thank
you
for
that.
A
A
A
A
A
H
This
first
presentation,
I'm
very
excited
about.
I
don't
know
if
you
all
remember
when
principal
nash
and
her
team
came
forward
to
re-brand
downs,
elementary
school
to
glennell
downs,
social
sciences
academy
last
year,
and
she
said
she
had
this
big
dream
of
taking
8th
grade
scholars
to
washington
d.c.
H
L
Good
evening
governing
board
president
governing
board
members,
dr
aguilar
lawler
and
the
executive
team,
we
are
so
excited
just
like
you
were
saying.
I
mean
it
was
a
year
ago
that
we
were
sitting
here.
L
Asking
permission
to
rebrand
and
part
of
the
vision
was
that
we
would
provide
real-life
experiences
and
opportunities
for
our
students
and
after
the
year
that
we've
had
to
actually
still
be
able
to
follow
through
and
take
them
to.
Washington
dc
is
amazing,
and
it's
all
just
a
tribute
to
your
commitment
to
the
vision
as
well.
So
we
definitely
thank
you
for
that.
L
So
I'm
going
to
introduce
my
co-presenter
eric
alvarez,
but
I
need
to
take
this
moment
to
say
that
eric
alvarez
is
the
chicanos
puerto
la
casa,
expert
esperanza
award
winner
latino
teacher
of
the
year.
M
Thank
you
miss
thank
you,
mrs
nash,
and
governing
board
president,
dr
aguilar
lawler
our
governing
board.
Everyone
in
attendance.
Thank
you.
So
yeah
we're
super
excited
for
this
trip.
That's
it's
been.
It
was
an
idea
and
it
we
thought
it
might
not
be
a
reality
with
kovid
and
everything
else,
and
it
was
able
to
come
together
and
we
were
able
to
make
this
plan
in
a
way
that
I
think
kind
of
exceeded
everybody's
expectations.
M
M
The
first
was
called
we,
the
people
congressional
mock
congressional
hearings.
There
was
a
regional
competition
or
showcase
that
they
presented
and
performed
in
a
state
one
and
the
national
one
is
usually
in
washington
dc,
but
with
the
pandemic,
it's
not,
and
so
the
idea
was
the
kids
could
present
at
regionals
at
state
and
then
go
to
nationals.
So
we
have
a
group
of
16
who
also
the
majority
of
them
that
we're
taking
to
washington
dc
also
happen
to
be
in
a
group,
a
youth
and
government
group,
so
they
spent
in
december.
M
They
spent
three
days
taking
over
the
arizona
state
capitol
and
going
through
mock
legislative
process.
They
are
eighth
graders.
The
plan
is
always
to
be
eighth
grade
students
to
to
take
them,
so
we
have
14
of
our
students
who
are
taking
our
eighth
graders,
there's
two
that
are
not
eighth
graders
because
they
actually
filled
in
for
eighth
graders.
M
By
the
way
the
eighth
graders
were
presenting
high
school
level
questions
when
they
were
doing
their
congressional
hearings
and
sixth
graders
stepped
in
when
eighth
graders
weren't
able
to
attend
for
different
reasons,
sports
and
family
reasons.
So
two
sixth
graders
that
actually
did
regionals
and
state,
and
so
we
said
you
guys
did
the
work.
You
should
join
with
the
rest
of
the
group,
so
16,
total
and
they're
all
amazing
kids
that
I'm
super
excited
for
them
to
have
this
experience
so
we'll
be
leaving,
may
2nd
leaving
at
8
40
in
the
morning.
M
So
we
are
actually
going
to
have
a
school
bus.
Take
us
at
5
30
in
the
morning
to
the
airport,
so
we're
going
to
have
16,
bleary-eyed
kids
with
us
loading
onto
a
bus
on
this
monday.
I
said
I
say,
may
2nd
like
it's
a
long
time.
Well,
this
is
monday
we're
talking
about
monday
here
and
then
returning
may
6th
friday
may
6
we'll
be
back
here
at
1205
with
the
school
bus
waiting
to
pick
us
up
and
bring
us
back
to
downs.
M
Thank
you,
sorry,
okay,
so
just
to
give
a
little
bit
of
information
here
we
have.
You
know:
we've
had
several
parent
meetings
with
our
family
with
our
the
families
of
the
students
that
are
going,
and
you
know
walking
them
through
what
it's
going
to
be
like
going
through
security,
getting
on
a
plane
sitting
on
a
plane
for
four
hours.
You
know
coming
back
and
it's
a
you
know
it's
a
five
hour
flight
and
going
through.
All
of
that,
so
we've
tried
to
give
them
as
much
as
possible.
M
M
So
yes,
so
leaving
8
40
coming
to
dc,
arriving
at
reagan,
international
airport
and
then
coming
back
to
phoenix
on
the
6th,
so
we'll
be
staying
at
the
holiday
inn,
washington,
capital,
national
mall,
which
is
walking
distance
to
everything,
so
the
kids
will
be
able
to
walk
out
and
we
have
plans
to
have
them
just
do
a
lot
of
exploring
a
lot
of
walking.
M
So
the
students
and
mrs
nash
are
preparing
themselves
for
a
lot
of
walking,
so
here's
our
itinerary
to
give
you
an
idea
of
what
it's
going
to
look
like.
So
a
monday
is
just
a
travel
day,
so
you
know
we're
not
getting
there
until
four
o'clock
by
the
time
we
get
our
bags
get
to
the
hotel
it's
dinner
time.
So
you
know
monday
is
just
a
travel
day,
we're
going
to
arrive,
we're
going
to
have
dinner
and
then
we're
going
to
have
an
opportunity
to
go
explore.
M
What's
close
by
you
know
within
walking
distance
and
in
the
evening
it
should
be
beautiful.
Springtime
with
the
light
everything
lit
up
should
be
amazing
for
the
students
to
see
on
their
first
day
tuesdays
when
we
really
get
started
exploring
dc.
This
is
all
going
to
be
new
for
the
kids,
so
whatever
we
do
is
going
to
be
amazing.
M
I
I
was
a
little
bit
disappointed
that,
because
of
the
pandemic
and
allowing
guests
to
go
into
some
of
the
museums
and
such
that
there's
limited
tickets,
and
things
like
that,
so
we're
really
hoping
to
go
to.
For
example,
the
holocaust
museum
which
we
are
not
able
to
get
into
as
tickets
are
booked
up
through
july,
so
we
are
going
to
do.
Is
we're
going
to
have
breakfast
after
the
hotel
head
to
the
national
museum
of
american
history?
M
Our
goal
is
to
have
a
picnic
lunch
depending
on
the
weather,
national
museum
of
african
american
history
and
culture,
which
we
were
able
to
secure
tickets
for
and
was
a
little
bit
difficult,
national
gallery
of
art.
The
kids
have
got
together
and
they've
gone
through
and
mapped
out
what
what
art
pieces
they
actually
want
to
see.
So
it
can
kind
of
be
a
quick
like
here's.
What
we
want
to
see,
because
that
large
gallery
could
really
take
a
full,
a
full
day
having
dinner
and
then
after
dinner,
again
more
sightseeing.
M
M
M
The
goal
was,
it
would
be
great
to
see
some
congress
people
and
to
meet
with
them
and
to
get
to
the
capitol,
and
so
mr
lopez
worked
that
out
for
us
through
the
offices
of
greg,
stanton
and
ruben
gallego
he
was
able
to,
even
though
the
congress
is
a
recess
at
that
time,
they're
going
to
make
it
work,
so
the
kids
can
get
a
tour
and
speak
to
some
of
the
people
behind
the
scenes
there.
M
So
our
morning
is
pretty
much
cleared
out
for
those
dignitaries,
we're
hoping
to
do
a
food
truck
lunch
with
the
kit,
which
the
kids
are
very
excited.
For
I
mean
all
of
this
is
exciting
for
them,
but
the
food
trucks
are
something
they're
very
excited
about
library
of
congress.
We
have
tickets
for
that,
so
we're
ready
to
check
that
out
and
then
hopefully,
if
time
permits
the
national
archives
all
before
dinner
and
then
sightseeing
the
national
mall
and
veterans
memorial
list,
the
different
memorials
that
are
there.
We
were
just
talking
about
you.
M
On
thursday,
we're
going
to
the
national
museum
of
natural
history
we'll
take
that
will
take
our
morning
lunch
we're
going
to
head
over
to
the
national
botanical,
gardens
and
library
of
congress
dinner
evening.
Sightseeing
this
time
around
lincoln
memorial
and
then
friday
again
is
a
travel
day.
So
not
much
sightseeing,
but
hopefully
undragging
a
bunch
of
tired,
16
students
ready
to
sleep
five
hours
on
the
plane
ride
back.
So
we're
very
excited.
The
kids
are
excited.
Our
last
parent
meeting
was
just
last
night.
M
The
families
I
felt
like
they
just
walked
out
like
they're,
ready
to
hand
their
kids
over
to
us
and
feel
completely
safe,
and
I'm
just,
I
feel
so
privileged
that
they
felt
so
safe
to
leave
them
with
us
and
and
they're
so
excited.
So,
thank
you
or
did
you
have
questions.
A
M
Sorry,
actually,
I
I
can't
neglect
this.
We
also
need
to
give
some
thanks
to
the
following
groups,
who
helped
out
there's
companies
that
helped
to
fund
a
lot
of
the
trip,
and
I
mean
just
today:
they
dropped
off
some
shirts
for
the
kids.
We
have
shirts,
so
the
kids,
we,
the
kids,
won't
get
lost.
M
We
can
see
all
the
blue
shirts
or
whatever
colors
they're,
giving
us
so
wrighton
construction,
adm
group
veragee
again,
mr
lopez
for
his
connections,
dr
aguilar
lawler
and
the
governing
board
and
her
executive
team.
So
thank
you
so
much
because
as
much
work
as
we
put
in
into
this
like,
we
could
not
have
done
anything
close
to
this
without
you.
So
thanks
thanks
to
everybody.
A
Thank
you
governing
board
members.
Do
you
have
any
questions
comments?
A
I
just
want
to
send
out
a
special
shout
out
to
mr
lopez
for
being
the
coolest,
no
offense,
ladies,
because
this
is
I'm
saying
this
against
myself
too,
our
absolute
coolest
and
most
valuable
board
member
so
he's
the
mvb
because
he
can
connect
the
kids
were
looking
at
him
like
he
was
just
the
best
thing
on
earth
last
night
when
he
shared
all
the
connections
that
he
made
and
he's
very
humble,
but
at
the
same
time
we
really
appreciate
your
participation
in
this
and
your
excitement
to
get
the
kids
connected
to
such
cool
things,
and
so
we
appreciate
it.
C
Thank
you
and
I
think
we
have
the
best
board
in
the
state
of
arizona,
but
that's
my
opinion
and
I
think
we
have
the
best
school
district
in
the
state
of
arizona
with
the
best
people,
the
best
scholars
and
honestly,
I
don't
believe
we
could
have
done
any
of
this
without
each
other.
We
all
have
gifts.
So
thank
you.
B
You,
madam
president,
dr
aguilar,
lawler
for
the
war
members,
executive
team
and
those
in
the
audience
my
apologies
for
being
late
in
person,
but
I
am
excited
about
the
trip.
I
think
it's
a
it's
a
great
opportunity
for
the
students
for
the
school
as
well
for
the
school
district.
This
is
the
first
time.
B
I
think
that
we
make
a
trip
like
this,
and
it
is
my
hope
that
the
glenelg
downs
can
continue
the
tradition
and
as
well
as
any
other
schools
within
the
district
and
really
you
know
all
I
did
was
connect
a
few
dots
and
make
some
phone
calls
and
and
make
some
things
happen.
You
know,
at
the
end
of
the
day,
we're
here
to
serve
our
students
and
our
staff
and
our
parents
and
our
community
and
anything
that
I
can
do
to
help
really
I'm
always
here.
B
So
I'm
excited
and
and
looking
forward
to
the
video
presentation
that
will
follow
after
this
trip
and
the
memories
with
the
students
and,
as
I
told
the
parents
and
the
students
for
many
of
them,
if
not
all
of
them.
This
will
be
the
first
time
in
the
capital
of
this
country,
and
hopefully
it's
not
going
to
be
the
last.
B
J
Marisa
sorry,
throwing
up
I'm
still
thinking
about
what
I
say
and
there's
a
little
girl
and
I'll
and
I'll
get
to
that.
Madam
president,
fellow
board,
members,
executive
team
and
those
watching-
and
I
was
thinking
of
there
was
a
young
lady.
I
think
then,
in
a
previous
video,
it's
exciting
to
he.
You
know
for
kids
to
have
this
opportunity
and
I
think
back
of
how
many
I
think
I
went
to
state
conference.
J
You
name
it,
but
I
really
would
have
appreciated
a
lot
more
now
now,
knowing
more
what
I
know
now-
and
there
was
a
young
lady
that
expressed
herself
and
said
that
I
think
not
word
for
word,
but
she
about
advocating
standing
up
for
those
issues
that
you
believe
in
and
just
speaking
that,
and
you
know
it
excited
me,
which
is
you
know
to
hear
that
you
know
from
from
kids
that
age.
J
However,
you
know
really
prepare
them
about
the
realities
and
the
political
interest,
it's
all
about
connections
and
who
makes
things
happen.
You
know
at
the
end
of
the
day,
and
and
unfortunately,
until
you
rub
somebody
the
wrong
way
and
what
you're
saying
it
doesn't
resonate
the
political.
You
know,
conversation
that
follows,
and
I
think
it
would
have
helped
me,
I
think,
even
back
then
even
at
baylor.
I
wish
dr
my
my
department,
the
political
science
department
head
would
have
could
have
had
more
conversations
about
that
but
anyway,
but
I
am
excited.
J
Thank
you
for
all
your
work
and
putting
this
together.
I'm
looking
forward
to
hearing
you
know
the
outcomes
and
the
feedback
once
you
get
back.
Thank
you.
A
Thank
you,
miss
hernandez
fellow
governing
board
members,
dr
aguilar
loller,
everyone
in
the
audience
and
participating
via
youtube.
A
I
also
wanted
to
say
thank
you
to
our
administration,
principal
nash,
mr
dostell,
your
ap,
mr
alvarez
of
course,
and
I
know
I
just
want
to
say
this-
for
our
parents
and
our
community,
because
I
know
that
it,
the
presentation
makes
it
seem
like
it's
such
an
easy
thing,
but
being
a
part
of
my
small
piece
of
it
and
seeing
all
of
the
work
that
goes
into
this,
it
really
was
a
huge
undertaking.
It
took
a
lot
of
hours
a
lot
of
thought,
consideration,
funding,
strategic
and
innovative
funding
as
well.
A
My
notes
are
terrible,
making
sure
that
they're
going
to
be
safe,
making
sure
they
understand,
what's
going
to
happen
on
the
plane
and
going
through
tsa
and
making
sure
they
have
their
meals
and
the
place
to
stay,
and
I
just
wanted
to
say
thank
you
to
all
of
you.
I
know
that
this
wasn't
a
super
easy
undertaking.
It
took
a
lot
and
planning
still
happened
till
like
the
11th
hour.
So
thank
you
so
much.
Thank
you,
dr
lawler,
linda
everyone.
A
That
was
participating
in
it
because
I
got
to
see
some
of
it
and
it
was
a
lot
to
deal
with
and
for
providing
our
students,
the
ability
to
advocate
for
themselves
and
that
environment
at
your
school,
which
you
know
the
cartwright
way
at
your
school.
A
lot
of
your
scholars.
I've
met
that
are
in
your
program.
You
know
through
either
basketball
or
baseball
or
track
and
they're
just
amazing
scholars.
A
So
thank
you
to
all
of
you
for
putting
this
together
and
for
providing
our
scholars,
these
memories
that
will
last
them
a
lifetime
and
the
opportunity
to
be
in
places
that
maybe
they
may
not
have
been
able
to-
and
you
know,
you're
impacting
their
lives
in
such
a
positive
way.
So
I
just
wanted
to
say
thank
you
if
I
didn't
name
you
personally,
but
you
worked
on
this,
thank
you
and
to
our
parents
for
allowing
us
the
opportunity
to
take
their
their
scholars
with
us,
because
I
know
for
them
the
parents.
A
H
N
Thank
you
good
evening,
madam
president,
governing
board
members,
dr
liana
gallantler,
executive
team
and
audience
members.
I
appreciate
the
opportunity
to
start
this
evening
with
an
update
on
the
school
safety
grant.
We
want
to
thank
dr
etheridge,
who
is
key
in
the
budgetary
process.
Managing
the
school
safety
grant.
Also
meredith
sierra
is
also
involved
in
the
compliance
pieces
and
helped
significantly
in
this
presentation.
So
we
appreciate
them
this
evening
as
well.
I
would
like
to
start
by
sharing
with
you
who
is
funded
by
the
school
safety
grant
in
the
cartwright
district.
N
N
N
It's
designed
to
be
a
data
driven
role
to
help
us
systemically
on
the
campus
to
address
problem
areas
to
be
a
part,
a
key
part
of
the
of
not
only
the
administrative
team,
the
crisis
team
to
to
engage
strategically
in
in
monitoring
safety
across
campus,
so
being
placed
strategically
around
the
building
around
the
campus
and
helping
us
ensure
safety
for
all
children
and
staff.
N
N
A
significant
amount
of
training
goes
into
our
school
resource
officers,
not
only
to
you
know,
prepare
them
in
their
own
professional
growth
as
officers,
but
also
they
are
learning
about
the
you
know.
Adolescent
behaviors,
working
with
children
we're
spending
a
bit
more
time
with
them
now
engaging
in
some
sel
conversations
with
our
sro,
specifically
in
in
cartwright.
They
also
have
a
positive
impact
on
the
climate
and
culture
of
the
school,
with
their
presence
with
their
engagement
in
the
community
as
well
I'll.
N
N
Goal
one
is
a
safe
and
orderly
school
is
essentially
what
we're
after
we
want
to
promote
a
feeling
of
safety.
When
we
see
a
school
resource
officer
on
campus,
there
is
that
feeling
that
they're
with
us-
and
we
are
a
part
of
their
part
of
us
right.
So
that's
super
important
goal.
Number
two
I'll
mention
again,
because
it's
huge
teaching
not
only
are
they
law
enforcement
personnel,
but
they're,
also
teachers.
N
N
There
also
is
community
pieces
that
they
do,
because,
ultimately,
we
want
our
children
to
go
in
and
be
successful
citizens,
so
part
of
this
is
preparing
them
on
how
to
engage
as
citizens
how
to
engage
with
with
law
enforcement
in
our
community.
Another
piece
is
to
discourage
delinquent
behavior.
They
do
talk
about
some
real
issues
that
have
that
are
impacting
youth
these
days,
so
they'll
talk
about
some
sensitive
topics
and
I'll
show
you
some
examples
in
just
a
moment.
N
N
Finally,
is
to
to
present
a
respect
of
law
and
order
right
rules
and
laws
and
authority
in
a
balanced,
balanced
perspective.
So
those
are
some
of
the
themes
that
you
will
find
in
law
related
education
modules.
If
you
will
again
you've
heard
me
mention
there's
180
hours,
and
this
is
how
it's
it's
broken
down.
N
N
Travel
together
and
the
sro
will
focus
specifically
on
this
cohort
group
for
those
80
hours,
there's
also
universal
hours,
that
they
call
and
it's
a
minimum
of
100
hours
per
year,
and
this
is
could
be
targeting
a
bigger
group,
so
expanding
the
net,
if
you
will
of
reaching
scholars,
reaching
families
and
it's
addressing
the
needs
of
the
school
community,
bringing
in
some
relevant
current
topics
as
well.
The
sros
receive
time
for
planning,
because
they're
they're,
essentially
teaching
so
they're
allowed
up
to
20
hours
of
preparation
time.
N
N
There
are
some
times
where
there'll
be
a
way
and
that's
certainly
allowed
in
in
the
grant
but
80,
which
is
the
most
significant
part
of
their
school
day.
They
would
be
at
the
assigned
or
grant-funded
campus
some
activities
that
they
might
engage
in
beyond
the
80
percent.
Of
course,
sometimes
they
have
to
go
to
a
briefing
in
the
morning
or
pick
up
a
vehicle
other
times
they're
doing
school
related
visits
that
are
away
from
campus
welfare
checks.
They
might
go
on
a
field
trip
with
a
particular
grade
level
or
group.
N
They'll
do
home
visits
and
again
they,
you
might
see
them
at
a
a
feeder
school
event.
So
these
are
definitely
activities
that
are
allowed
by
the
grant.
Again
it's
for
community
building,
and
for
that
positive
image,
the
sros
will
respond
to
a
crisis.
If
they
need
to
it,
may
it
does
not
have
to
be
their
own
school.
If
there's
a
crisis
at
a
safety
concern
at
a
at
a
school
that
is
not
their
own
school,
they
will
respond.
N
So
here's
some
topics
that
we've
gathered
from
the
topics
addressed
in
at
the
various
schools-
and
this
is
something
that
the
sro
submitted
and
I'll
just
let
you
scan
scan
that
I'll
mention
a
couple:
they're
experts
on
law
right
at
the
courts,
so
they'll
talk
about
the
court
system
how
to
engage
in
the
court
how
to
stay
away
from
the
court
system.
Obviously,
but
they'll
also
talk
about
some
some
important
life
skills
sportsmanship
conflict
resolution.
N
So
if
you'll
see
some
of
that
and
they'll
model,
because
I've
seen
them,
I've
worked
with
srls
and
they're
modeling,
sportsmanship
and
they're
modeling
sharing
in
some
cases
and
on
the
playground.
So
this
is
all
teaching.
This
is
all
modeling.
This
is
important
for
our
children
as
well.
A
couple
of
big
ones
that
have
been
relevant
is
have
been
the
social
media
pieces.
We've
engaged
our
sros
and
they've
joined
us
in
helping
with
the
social
media
pieces
or
addressing
the
concerns
we've
had
as
a
district.
N
There's
some
areas
where
they
engage
again
with
the
crisis
team
or
the
school
administrators,
and
the
idea
is
to
have
that
safety
lens
and
obviously
our
sros
are
highly
trained
to
look
at
safety
or
areas
of
concern.
So
they
help
us
in
that
area
to
prevent
to
prevent
a
crisis
or
to
prevent
a
potentially
dangerous
situation.
N
So
again,
they're
they're
strategic,
strategically
placed
strategically
moving
around
campus
for
the
purpose
of
supervising
children
for
the
purpose
of
being
visible,
you'll
see
even
the
police
officers.
Vehicles
are
parked
at
the
front
of
the
school,
which
is
an
important
look
for
our
our
sense
of
safety
as
well.
N
You'll
see
some
of
them
not
all,
but
some
of
them
have
coached
in
the
past,
intramural
sports
or
even
athletic
events.
They
have
different
interests,
so
they
might
engage
the
children
or
the
scholars
in
different
activities.
But
I
have
seen
several
of
our
sros
over
time.
Engage
our
students.
Wake
up
club
is
a
big
one.
It's
a
big
way
for
our
scholars
to
engage
with
the
school
resource
officers
at
the
community
service
opportunity.
N
N
Some
areas
that
are
not
necessarily
directly
part
of
the
grant,
but
they
are
related
and
important
they'll,
do
welfare
checks
on
students
or
scholars
check
on
families.
If
we
hear
that
a
child
may
be
ill,
maybe
have
a
significant
need,
they
have
done
that
with
us.
They
did
that
throughout
the
pandemic.
N
N
When
traffic
is
busy
or
there's
an
accident
in
the
community,
they
will
leave
for
a
moment
or
for
a
few
minutes
and
address
the
traffic
control
situation
in
the
area.
So
these
are
still
a
part
of
making
our
schools
feel
safe
and
there's
some
times
where
there
are
concerns
in
the
community
and
our
sros
are
first
of
all
they're
police
officers.
So
they
do.
They
do
respond
to
community
concerns.
N
So
talk
a
little
bit
about
where
we
are
and
where
we're
headed,
there's
more
information
coming
about
cuts
and
cuts,
stands
for
court,
unified,
truancy,
suppression
and,
in
our
conversations
with
sros
what
they
are
saying
to
us.
They
want
to
be
a
part
of
the
process
early
and
their
focus
as
part
of
the
grant,
as
I've
mentioned,
is
prevention,
so
they
want
to
have
early
interventions
prevention
efforts
have
conversations
with
parents
check
on
families
check
on
the
other
scholars
to
make
sure
they're
doing
well.
N
So
that
is
where
we're
headed
in
in
increasing
our
partnership,
maximizing
their
expertise
and
their
availability
as
well
and
again,
the
focus
is
making
positive
connections
early,
so
we
don't
get
to
the
truancy
citations.
We
want
to
address
these
prevention
items
first,
in
some
cases,
they'll
work
directly
with
the
administrator.
If
there
is
a
citation
that
needs
to
happen
that
the
police
officer
could
cite
the
child
cite
the
family.
N
Unfortunately,
our
our
staffing
pattern
for
school
resource
officers
is
not
equitable,
because
not
all
of
our
schools
have
an
sro,
so
that
is,
that
is
a
concern,
a
bit
of
a
disadvantage.
Ins
in
those
cases.
What
we're
asking
for
the
early
intervention
to
happen
is
with
the
either
the
assistant
principal
or
the
or
the
principal
and
they've
done
that
they've
done
an
amazing
job,
doing
welfare
checks
on
families
checking
in
on
scholars.
Sometimes
a
check-in
check
out.
N
Sometimes
it's
all
you
need
is
a
fist
bump
or
a
smile
us
smiling
face
in
the
morning
and
our
administrators.
Do
that
positive
connections,
referrals
to
kershaws
referrals
to
other
agencies,
and
if
the
school
does
not
have
a
resource
officer,
then
the
administrator
is
trained
to
issue
a
citation
as
well.
N
The
big
effort
you
know
moving
forward
is
to
focus
on
the
prevention
pieces.
If
you
will
so
now,
we'll
share
some
pictures
of
our
school
resource
officers,
so
you
at
least
can
see
you
recognize
the
name
or
face
if
you
run
into
them
at
the
events
coming
up.
This
is
officer
lavelle
wilkerson
from
cartwright
officer,
brian
miller.
N
N
Officer
juan
poland
owes
over
at
australia.
He
is
not
shy
about
being
on
camera
and
helping
us
make
videos.
So
we
appreciate
that
officer
russell
brown
over
at
borman.
N
N
And
this
is
a
quote
from
the
grant
to
wrap
up.
The
sro
makes
a
contribution
to
safe
environments,
to
prevention,
intervention
and
positive
interaction,
interactive
relationships
with
our
scholars.
So
I
think
that
drives
a
point
home
very
nicely.
Prevention
is
huge,
intervention
is
huge
and
the
positive
relationships
are
very,
very
important.
H
Mad
and
present
members
of
the
governing
board
audience
special
guest
principals
and
those
I'm
watching
on
youtube.
Thank
you,
mr
pina.
I
just
wanted
to
share
kind
of
go
back
to
a
statement
that
you
and
I
talked
about
the
equity,
the
schools
that
don't
have
sros,
and
I
just
wanted
to
publicly
state
to
our
principals
and
our
schools
that
we
know
that
it's
an
equity
problem,
and
we
also
know
that
it's
not
equitable,
to
say
those
schools
that
have
sro
get
to
do
this
and
then
add
more
work
to
you.
H
So
we
are
in
the
process
of
trying
to
figure
this
out.
I
know
that
governing
board.
Denise
garcia,
has
been
very
involved
in
this
and
I
know
she's
part
of
how
we
can
ensure
equity
as
we
move
forward,
and
so
I
just
wanted
you
to.
I
saw
a
little
stress
back
there
for
those
of
you
that
don't
have
sros.
H
You
know
this
is
something
that
is
part
is
still
part
of
the
discussion,
and
I
wanted
to
make
sure
that
you
all
knew
that
we
are
excited
for
those
schools
that
do
have
school
resource
officers,
because
there's
some
things
that
we
can
do
to
improve
our
attendance
and
that's
what
we're
going
to
do.
This
pandemic
has
been
very
challenging,
but
at
the
same
time
we
know
we
can't
expect
the
same
services
as
schools
that
do
not
have
the
sros.
So
I
just
wanted
to
clarify
that
for
all
of
you,
so
thank
you.
A
B
Thank
you,
madam
president,
dr
aguilar,
lawler
fellow
board
members,
executive
team
and
us
in
the
audience.
Mr
pina,
thank
you
for
the
presentation.
No
questions.
Really.
We
did
had
a
chance
to
see
the
sro,
I
believe,
from
estrella
on
saturday
at
the
community
event
that
chispa
had
for
earth
day
earth
week
here
at
alosa
park.
So
he
had
a
group
of
students
from
the
wake
up
club.
B
They
were
really
excited
to
share
what
they've
done.
I
think
they
went
on
a
field
trip
as
well
and
and
definitely
we
were
able
to
see
the
the
relationship
between
the
students,
the
respect
and
also
the
willingness
from
them
to
work
with
the
sro
and
learn
and
grow
and
and
build
that
partnership.
Definitely,
I
know
this
board.
We've
had
many
conversations
about
this
topic
and
at
some
point
you
know
we.
B
And
definitely,
I
think,
we've
come
a
long
way
from
where
we
started
before
with
the
sros
and
there's
always
opportunities
to
grow,
but
definitely
the
partnership
that
we
have
is
this,
in
my
view,
what
we
need
at
the
school
sites.
So
thank
you
for
your
work
around
this
topic.
I
don't
have
any
questions
right
now.
Thank
you.
J
Fellow
board
members,
dr
lawler
executive
team,
those
in
the
audience
and
those
watching,
although
I
know
that
that
this
it's
a
presentation
regarding
the
grant
not
necessarily
on
and
you've
mentioned,
some
some
very
good
points.
But
going
back
to
a
previous
conversation,
I
think
the
board
member
of
atheia
and
concerned
that
she
expressed
with
the
officers
period
on
campus,
not
just
sro
officers.
I
think
it
was
meant
to
be
a
more
general.
J
I
guess
her
point
would
tend
it
to
be
more
general,
but
I'm
not
going
to
attempt
to
speak
for
her.
But,
however,
I
do
want
to
ask:
if
there's
do
you
have
any
chat?
Any?
Have
you
heard
or
do
you
have
any
documented
challenges?
I
know
in
the
past
parking
was
an
issue
I
personally
in
the
past
have
had
issues
with
with
officers
parking
at
the
front.
I
can
see
the
pros,
but
I'm
also
a
community
member,
and
I
know
what
our
fears
are,
especially
when
it
comes
to
immigration
and
the
laws
of
law.
J
J
You
know
we're
here
to
support
our
parents,
but
sometimes
having
that
vehicle
up
front
and
depending
on
previous
activities
at
that
site,
I
remember
seeing
parks
call.
I
mean
cars
parked
all
the
way
around
certain
schools
in
the
vicinity
for
fear.
You
know
not
being
not
exposing
themselves
to
the
front,
forcing
their
kids
dropping
them
off
a
little
bit
farther
away
to
you
know
to
avoid
driving
when
they
see
the
vehicle
up
front,
and
although
I
know
the
the
issues
that
we
had,
we've
had
with
parking
in
the
past.
J
So
I
know
it's
there
for
a
reason
and
in
the
intention,
from
the
district's
perspective
to
be
proactive
and
positive.
However,
the
connotation
that
it
you
know
that
it
brings
to
to
parents
in
the
district
is
not
the
same,
and
I
think
with
the
so,
if
we're
discussing
social,
emotional
learning
and
the
alignment
of
the
implementation
of
different
measures
to
to
go
alongside
this
new
approach,
then
we've
got
to
start
being
creative
in
terms
of
you
know,
meeting
the
same
objective
but
being
creative
in
terms
of
how
we
do
it.
J
So
that
was
one
the
challenges
with
you
know
the
officer
being
parked
up
front,
any
citations
that
are
taking
place.
Anything
to
that
effect.
And
second,
I
know
that-
and
you
mentioned
that
not
all
sites
have,
but
I
think
that
we're
seeing
a
different
caliber.
I
love
the
pictures
that
you
showed
because
even
just
looking
at
those
individuals,
you
can
tell
that
they're
welcoming
they're
different
you
can.
J
You
can
just
tell
by
looking
at
those
I
had
an
officer
white
going
like
this
now
and
I
think
we've
grown,
but
we've
also
had
officers
that
are
officers
to
the
core
and
it's
difficult,
as
you
know,
especially
when
you've
been
an
officer
for
so
many
years.
Coming
to
a
position
like
this
and
and
dividing
that
role
has
been
a
challenge
as
well
in
the
past,
and
you
know
I've
had
interaction
with
with
us.
J
N
Mr
fernandez,
madam
chair
governing
board
members,
dr
aguilar,
lawler
and
executive
team
members
of
the
audience-
I
perhaps
am
I'm
taking
this
very
positive,
take
on
what
I've
seen
in
my
interactions
with
the
officers
again,
because
I've
seen
them
at
the
family
center
boxing
food
and
I've
seen
the
enthusiasm
of
the
scholars
and
I've
seen
a
lot
of
the
positive
engagement
and
I've
seen
them
throwing
the
football
at
lunch.
So
that
is
to
be
quite
frank.
N
That
is
impacting
my
my
perception
and
perhaps
it's
the
journey
that
we've
been
on
and
we're
in
this
place
and
the
pictures
that
you
see
that
that
is
our
our
current
reality
to
many
degrees,
at
least
in
our
sro
funded
schools
or
safety
grant
funded
schools.
But
I
see
a
lot
of
positivity
positivity
I
mean
we
can
certainly
continue
to
look
at
this,
but
those
are
genuine
pictures
and
our
our
scholars
are
really
having
positive
rapport
with
our
school
resource
officers.
J
N
Thank
you
for
the
clarifying
question,
mrs
hernandez.
Madam
president,
governing
board
members,
dr
aguilar
lawler
and
executive
team.
I
can,
I
can
tell
you
there
has
not
been
any
concerns,
come
forward
to
me
concerning
the
school
resource
officers,
so
I
can
tell
you
that
with
confidence
that
that's
kind
of
where
we
are
right
now,
it's
in
a
good
place.
H
Madam
president,
members
of
the
governing
board
audience
those
watching
at
home
special
guest
board
member
lydia
hernandez.
It's
been
a
journey.
I
know
that
during
the
pandemic-
and
you
know
just
the
years
kind
of
go
you're
not
sure
which
year
it
was,
but
it
wasn't
this
year
it
was
last
school
year.
A
few
of
us
had
a
virtual
meeting,
actually
a
couple
virtual
meetings
with
the
chief
of
police
to
talk
about
our
concerns.
H
Many
of
the
concerns
that
you're
sharing
right
now
and
she
had
made
a
commitment
that
anyone
who
was
going
to
be
a
school
resource
officer
for
at
least
the
cartwright
school
district.
We
were
going
to
dress
down
that.
We
were
going
to
do
trainings
to
help
them
understand
our
goal
of
social,
emotional
learning.
H
And
although
I
know
we
have
a
long
way
to
go,
I
have
seen
a
huge
difference
in
the
quality
and
the
character
and
the
care
and,
as
vice
president
lopez
shared,
it
was
very
endearing
this
weekend
at
oso
park
to
have
a
bunch
of
students
come
over.
I
did
not
even
know
that
the
sponsor
was
the
school
resource
officer
because
he
was
not
dressed
as
a
school
resource
officer.
H
H
You
know
a
board
member,
so
they
took
pictures
with
the
vice
president
lopez,
and
it
was
just
we
just
talked
for
a
while
and
if
anything,
one
of
the
things
that
I
learned
was
that,
because
we
don't
have
enough
police
officers
that
this
summer,
40
of
our
estrella
wake
up
scholars
that
we're
really
looking
forward
to
the
wake
up
club.
H
H
H
So
I
am
doing
that
if
any
of
our
principals
out
there
would
like
to
join
me
and
send
a
communication
to
our
chief
of
police
to
ask
her
if
she
reconsider.
I
would
love
that
support
as
well,
but
it
is
still
a
journey.
Are
we
where
we
want
to
be?
No,
absolutely
not,
but
we're
going
to
continue
with
that
partnership?
A
A
Parents
overwhelmingly
really
enjoyed
having
them
and
parents
who
did
not.
You
know
schools,
because
we
only
get
so
many
through
the
grant
parents
at
schools
that
didn't
have
them
wish
that
they
did
so.
We
learned
a
lot
through
that
survey
and
it
really
meant
a
lot
to
hear
that
our
parents
felt
so
overwhelmingly
positive
and
that
the
sros
did
provide
a
positive
impact
in
their
scholars
lives.
So
thank
you
and
we
did
not
have
any
issues
with
parking
right.
A
Parents
aren't
to
address
ms
hernandez's
concern.
Parents
were
not
have
not
been
upset
that
the
sros
are
parking
in
front
of
the
school
right.
Madam.
N
President
governing
board
members,
dr
lawler
executive
team,
I've
not
heard
that
I
can
certainly
have
conversations.
I
talk
to
them
enough.
Where
I
can
say
has
this
come
up
or
I
can
certainly
check
in
with
administrators,
but
I
have
not
heard
that
at
this
point.
N
A
A
It
feels
like,
within
the
walls
of
cartwright
and
in
our
community,
we've
worked
so
diligently
to
create
those
positive
relationships
and
we
work
with
our
parent
group.
Ms
martinez
is
always
working
with
us,
providing
us
feedback,
and
I
know
that
if
there
was
an
issue
at
one
of
the
schools,
she
would
definitely
let
us
know
it
within
our
walls.
A
That's
just
the
world
that
we
live
in,
it's
going
to
be
a
constant
between
us
and
you
know,
chief
williams,
and
I
appreciate
that
she's
been
so
open
and
available
to
help
us
change
and
be
a
part
of
this
as
well.
So
I
think
that
our
board,
not
our
board,
but
our
administrator,
dr
lawler,
and
principals,
that
send
a
message
out
to
them.
I
don't
know
that
any
other
school
district
will
do
it,
so
that
is
you
know
it's
great
to
hear
that
we're
doing
things
like
that.
So
thank
you.
J
Madam
president,
just
in
continuing
with
that,
you
reminded
me
of
with
just
one
other
question
regarding
the
the
scholars
and
the
sro
officers.
The
truancy
you
mentioned
citations
you
mentioned
now.
J
I
know,
and-
and
I've
always
got
to
take
a
step
back
and
and
look
at
the
approach
of
what
we're
discussing
discussing
and
how
we're
doing
it,
because
when
we,
when
we
decided
to
take
on
the
social,
emotional
learning
and
what
that
means
and
how
we
implement
it
and
what
that
looks
like
what
that
end
product,
that
you
know
we
didn't
where
it's
a
journey.
J
I
would.
I
hope
that
that,
in
even
with
truancy
dealing,
you
know,
there's
issues
other
factors
in
and
around
the
family
what
they
may
be
going
through,
there's
reasons.
But
I
would
hope
that
the
esro
officers
are,
you
know,
are
working
with
them
versus
just
directly
the
citation,
because
I
go
back
and
and
to
answer
the
question
regarding
the
citation
still
taking
place.
J
Yes,
they
are
I've
taken
pictures
I
post
them
on
social
media
times,
whether
now,
whether
that
is
something
that
I
could
tie
back
to
the
school
site,
whether
and
there
used
to
be
a
preference-
and
there
were
administrators
in
the
past
that
have
that
that
had
the
approach
you
know
of
to
help
to
help
with
the
traffic.
J
But
I
don't
know
if
parents
are
are
going
to
be
so
forthcoming
saying
you
know,
I
don't
feel
comfortable
because
there's
an
officer
there
because
I
don't
have
legal
status.
I
don't
think
you're
going
to
get
that,
but
I
think
maybe
in
in
those
small
talks
or
whatever
you
might,
you
might
walk
away
with
something
like
that.
But
going
back
to
the
truancy
at
least.
N
Mrs
hernandez,
madame
president
governing
board
members,
dr
liana,
galileo
and
executive
team,
we
have
taken
the
position
during
the
the
global
pandemic.
It
impacted
us
and
taking
the
direction
from
from
our
executive
leaders,
and
we
have
been
really
sensitive
to
make
sure
that
we
are
checking
doing
welfare
checks,
ensuring
that
our
first
of
all
our
families
are
safe.
So
we
have
been,
quite
frankly,
very
slow
to
issue
citations.
The
last
two
and
a
half
years.
N
I've
been
surveying
and
reaching
out
to
assistant
principals
and
and
there's
families
that
are
on
the
edge
of
the
citation,
but
there
always
seems
to
be
a
compelling
reason
not
to
go
to
court,
and
I
attribute
that
to
we
have
been
absolutely
very
sensitive.
In
some
cases
we
may
need
to
end
up
in
court,
obviously
for
the
benefit
of
the
child.
Absolutely,
but
if
nothing
else,
we
have
been
very
sensitive
to
the
fact
that
our
families
were
grieving.
Our
families
were
hurting
through
the
pandemic.
So
it's
been.
N
It's
we've
taken
a
very
careful
approach,
so
I
can
tell
you
we
have
not
been
in
a
hurry
to
cite
families,
and
I
can
tell
you
that
with
confidence.
Thank
you
for
the
question.
H
N
Good
evening,
madam
president,
governing
board
members,
dr
liana
gillenwalder,
executive
team
and
members
of
the
audience,
we
are
pleased
for
the
opportunity
to
give
you
an
update,
and
I
appreciate
dr
devin
mcneill
for
being
with
us
here,
we'll
introduce
a
couple
of
our
colleagues
esteemed
principals,
janae,
britton
principal
at
estrella,
middle
school
and
craig
corporal
principal
at
heather.
Bray
elementary,
we'll
have
them
come
up
in
just
a
moment,
but
I
do
appreciate
them
co-presenting
with
us.
N
So
what
we
have
is
a
a
brief
update
on
where
we
are
and
where
we've
been
with
the
rise
program
and
a
reminder
of
a
big
piece
of
what
drives
us
is
this
core
beliefs
that
we
want
to
establish
and
reinforce
and
support
safe
and
caring
schools.
The
work
of
the
safe
and
caring
school
committee
is
still
active
and
ongoing.
N
The
the
emphasis
from
the
governing
board
about
social,
emotional
learning,
safe
and
caring
schools
is
alive
and
well,
and
this
slide
serves
as
a
reminder
of
that.
We
are
still
very
much
focused
on
the
course
that
you
have
established
for
us
first,
a
little
bit
of
history
of
our
programs.
As
some
of
you
can
recall
and
have
visited
in
the
past
the
academy
for
success,
we
were
at
starlight
park
at
starlight
park
at
afs.
In
short,
there
was
a
variety
of
needs
represented
there.
N
We
had
students
with
who
had
academic
a
variety
of
academic
abilities,
a
variety
of
diagnoses,
different
individualized
education
plans,
and
they
were
all
in
one
location
at
the
academy
for
success
as
an
extension
of
starlight
park.
The
downside
of
that
was
the
scholars
had
very
limited
opportunities
for
mainstream
classroom
experiences.
N
They
had
limited
opportunities
for
exposure
to
the
grade
level,
content,
which
is
huge
for
their
academic
development.
Also,
there
was
limited
opportunities
for
interactions
with
grade
level
peers
which
ultimately
means
grade
level
models
for
for
their
their
growth.
Our
scholars
in
too
often
traveled
long
distances
from
their
home
school
and
we've
addressed
this
at
board
meetings.
In
the
past.
They
were
on
buses
to
and
from
the
academy
for
success
to
get
to
their
location
or
to
get
to
their
to
their
programming.
N
Our
aim
was
to
move
away
from
the
academy
for
success.
The
reason
we
did
that
was
we
wanted
to
to
move
away
from
the
most
restrictive
environment
to
the
least
restrictive
environment.
You'll
hear
that
as
a
as
a
theme
in
our
presentation
tonight
to
give
our
children
the
opportunity
to
engage
in
the
least
restrictive
environment.
N
N
This
program,
the
peer
program,
serves
scholars
with
a
diagnosed
emotional
disability
or
other
health
impairment
impairments,
but
the
key
is,
we
are
focusing
on
helping
them,
develop
their
social
emotional
needs.
Every
scholar
at
this
time
currently
enrolled
in
the
peer
program
at
heather
bray
elementary
school,
has
an
iep
as
an
individualized
education
plan.
N
There
is
also
a
peer
component
at
estrella.
The
other
half
of
this
slide
addresses
the
alternative
to
suspension
and
ae
or
alternative
education
programs
that
are
also
a
part
of
our
continuum
of
support.
The
ats
program
supports
scholars
who
have
who
are
serving
a
long
term
suspension
from
their
home
school
a
long
term.
Suspension
is
10
or
more
days,
we've
served
scholars
at
ats
instead
of
having
them
at
home
without
an
opportunity.
That's
again
something
we
we've
heard
very
clearly
from
our
governing
board.
N
We
want
our
scholars
in
school,
engaging
in
some
type
of
intervention
or
support.
The
alternative
education
program
will
also
serve
as
a
behavior
intervention
for
our
scholars,
as
we
continue
to
develop
this
this
aspect
of
our
programming
and
again
our
goal.
Our
aim
is
to
engage
our
scholars
in
the
least
restrictive
environment.
At
this
time,
my
colleague
dr
mcneil.
O
Madam
president,
governing
board
members
dr
lawler
and
executive
team,
thank
you
for
the
opportunity
to
share.
There
were
two
major
reasons
for
the
relocation
of
the
peer
program
to
estrela
and
heather
bray.
The
first
is
that
the
specialized
program
would
be
under
the
supervision
of
both
school
principals,
while
operating
under
the
umbrella
of
the
special
services
department
being
under
the
work
of
the
principals
is
significant.
O
This
and
the
second
is
for
the
scholars
to
participate
in
special
area
classrooms,
grade
level
courses,
and
course
all
and,
of
course,
all
the
extracurricular
activities
such
as
promotion,
graduation
ceremonies,
school
dances,
athletics
and
so
on.
This
is
so
crucial
for
the
entire
learning
experience.
It
is
important
to
point
out,
however,
that
our
top
priority
was
to
provide
educational
opportunities
for
all
scholars,
as
mr
pena
mentioned
in
the
least
restricted
environment.
This
was
a
huge
hurdle
in
our
previous
location.
O
The
next
challenge
was
the
seamless,
ongoing
learning
and
professional
development
for
both
our
certified
staff,
as
well
as
our
classified
staff.
This
learning
obviously
included
the
specialized
training
that
was
needed
for
them
to
be
successful.
The
last
challenge
was
addressing
the
shortage
with
staffing
in
general.
Cartwright
is,
and
continues
to
be,
along
with
other
school
districts,
with
the
struggles
with
respect
to
filling
these
highly
needed
highly
qualified
positions,
both
in
our
certified
and
classified
assignments.
O
At
this
time,
I
have
the
privilege
of
introducing
miss
janae
britton,
who
is
our
proud
principal
from
australia,
middle
school
and
mr
craig
horpendahl,
the
proud
principal
from
heather
bray.
These
two
amazing
principals
will
share
some
of
their
thoughts
and
experiences
from
this
year's
work.
With
the
program.
E
Good
evening,
madam
president,
board
members,
dr
aguilar,
lawler
executive
team,
those
in
attendance,
those
comfortable
at
home
we
so
as
as
dr
mcneil
and
mr
pena
just
mentioned.
All
of
those
things
are
true
and
all
those
things
are
happening
and
I
was
going
to
kind
of
highlight
a
few
of
them.
For
example,
our
student
recognition.
We
have
our
student
in
the
months
and
these
scholars
are
up
there
with
our
other
scholars
from
every
classroom.
E
They
are
getting
their
names
read
just
like
everybody
else,
they're
getting
the
the
narrative
that
the
teachers
write
up
about.
Why
they're
the
student
of
the
month,
so
they
get
to
celebrate
in
those
and
to
see
them
interacting
with
their
peers,
with
their
their
their
counterparts
and
and
taking
pictures
with
them
is
one
of
the
things
that
really
stands
out
with
with
our
campus.
Also,
you
know
we
we
we
have
transitions,
we
have
students
transitioning
into
classrooms.
We
have
sorry
we
have.
E
We
have
our
students
going
into
special
area
classes,
so
art
music
pe
they
are
attending
with
those
grade
level
scholars
and
to
see
them
in
pe
the
other
day,
making
friends
encouraging
each
other.
The
the
the
peer
classroom
and
the
mainstream
classroom.
There
was
no
difference
during
that
time
and
so
just
to
highlight
some
of
those
things
that
dr
mcneil
and
mr
pena
said.
It
really
brings
a
smile
to
our
faces
to
I
know
on
both
campuses
getting
these
students
actively
involved
with
their
peers.
P
Madam
president,
oops
governing
board
members,
dr
aguila
lawler,
an
executive
team
same
as
mr
hobart.
I
was
just
saying:
the
students
follow
our
pbis
expectations,
our
estrella
starbucks.
They
do
participate
in
our
clubs
after
school.
Our
sports,
I
do
have
some
numbers.
P
We
have
15
peer
students
on
our
campus
and
11
of
them
are
in
mainstream
classrooms,
which
means
that
they
go
to
lunch
automatically
with
our
students,
but
then
they
also
go
to
an
elective.
We
start
with
an
elective,
so
that
is
also
culinary
arts,
industrial
arts.
It's
not
just
pe
like
they
go
to
every
single
elective,
and
then
we
had
five
out
of
the
15
who
also
participated
in
either
anime
club,
a
sports.
We
had
a
one
play
football,
one
on
basketball
and
actually
one
on
baseball
and
track
and
field.
P
So
we
are
working
together
to
make
sure
that
they're
as
integrated
and
while
I
can't
stand
social
media
with
middle
schoolers,
it
is
awesome
to
see
them
connect
on
social
media
and
build
friendships
and
be
able
to
communicate,
and
they
have
experiences
that
they
never
had
when
they
were
isolated
at
afs,
and
so
it
has
been
amazing.
It's
been
wonderful,
their
staff
participates
in
all
of
our
staff
of
the
month
employee
of
the
week
star
of
the
week,
all
those
different
things
that
we
have
on
campus.
They
participate
and
actively.
P
You
can
ask
mr
edwards.
We
do
find
the
peep
right
before
easter
break
and
their
staff
was
going
crazy,
and
you
know
we've
really
stressed
the
difference
too,
and
this
I
just
realized
this.
As
I
just
said
it,
it's
not
those
kids
that
the
that
staff
it's
ours,
we're
all
together,
we're
all
one,
and
I
know
it's
the
same
as
heather
bray.
That
is
the
point,
is
making
sure
that
they
are
welcomed
and
feeling,
as
part
of
our
campuses
as
much
as
possible.
Thank
you.
O
Can
we
give
them
a
round
of
applause?
Thank
you,
janae
and
craig,
madam
president,
governing
board
members,
dr
lawler
executive
team,
in
looking
forward
to
the
upcoming
school
year.
Oh
and
for
the
record,
I
never
found
the
peep,
so
I
I'm
sorry
janae
and
looking
forward
to
our
upcoming
school
year.
Many
conversations
have
occurred
if
you
will
behind
the
curtain
to
ensure
that
our
program
continues
to
prosper.
As
mentioned
from
our
principles.
O
First,
we
will
continue
to
have
pure
as
part
of
the
estrella
and
heather
brake
campus,
as
it
is
this
year,
while
of
course
providing
the
least
restricted
environment
and
ensuring
the
great
opportunities
for
extracurricular
activities
and
school
connectedness,
and
I'm
going
to
say
that
again
and
school
connectedness
is
huge
and
second
all
alternative
to
suspension
and
alternative
education.
Scholars
will
now
be
attending
mark
t
atkinson's
school
moving
forward.
O
Now,
for
some
information
on
staffing,
we
will
ensure
super
important
social
and
emotional
learning.
Support
is
ongoing
and
consistent
at
each
site.
We
will
continue
to
be
supported
by
our
amazing
and
energetic
tosa
teacher
on
a
special
assignment,
jason
edwards
he's
fabulous.
He
will
be
assigned
to
both
campuses,
and
I
can
assure
you
that
our
principals
are
thrilled
to
death,
about
that.
We
will
continue
to
staff
a
1.0
behavior
intervention
specialist
as
support
to
each
campus.
O
N
Mcniel
I'll
talk
a
little
bit
about
the
staffing
for
the
alternative
to
suspension
program
very
similar
to
what
dr
mcneil
has
just
mentioned.
Sel
support
will
continue.
This
is
a
key
piece
of
our
programming.
We
will
have
continue
with
our
tosa
our
teacher
on
special
assignment,
dr
kyle
theas
she's
excellent.
She
sends
me
emails
and
celebrations
that
make
me
you
know
weepy
sometimes,
but
there's
amazing
things
happening
under
her
leadership
there
and
we
appreciate
her
as
well
as
mr
edwards.
N
Our
behavior
intervention
specialist
will
continue
at
the
ae
program,
building
skills,
boys,
town
skills,
pbis
reward
systems
are
working
and
that
will
continue
as
well
again.
Thank
you
to
the
board
the
governing
board,
our
executive
team
for
taking
a
look
at
the
salary
of
our
behavior
tax.
This
is
a
high
needs
area
and
with
your
leadership
and
your
support,
we've
been
able
to
increase
that
a
bit
and
make
it
a
little
bit
more
attractive,
because
these
these
folks
really
do
earn
it.
They
do
magic
every
day.
N
It
has
been
a
challenge
to
to
keep
those
positions
failed,
but
once
you
find
the
right
people
they're
amazing
and
they
do
incredible
work
every
day.
So
thank
you
for
that.
N
The
social
emotional
learning
support
will
continue.
This
is
one
of
the
pillars
of
ats
and
our
ae
program.
We'll
have
an
sel
specialist
working
closely
with
our
our
staff
and
scholars.
Our
staff
will
continue
to
receive
training
on
trauma-informed
practices,
and
that
is
our
our
lens
for
supporting
our
our
scholars
in
a
variety
of
areas.
N
N
N
C
C
Oh,
my
oh,
my
god.
My
heart
is
just
overflowing
with
gratitude.
I
I
think
we've
been
waiting
a
long
time
to
hear
this,
and
this
speaks
to
everything
that
we
have
been
talking
about
for
years.
C
A
What
the
emotional
disability
can
you
elaborate
a
little
bit
on
the
emotional
disabilities
or
health
impairments
that
are
scholars
at
the
in
the
peer
program?
Might
experience
without
giving
away
any?
I.
O
O
Governing
board
members,
dr
lawler
president
hernandez
some
of
our
our
our
scholars
are
in
in
need
or
have
emotional
disabilities,
and
with
that
comes
therapeutic
and
behavioral
needs
in
this
small
setting.
They
are.
Our
experts
are
equipped
to
take
care
of
the
kiddos.
Some
of
them
come
with
these
ohi
or
emotional
disabilities
with
respect
to
coping
skills,
handling
communication,
if
you
will
in
in
areas
with
a
lot
of
noise,
so
these
individuals
need
the
extra
support
in
this
setting.
O
That
is
basically
what
it
is
when
we
say
emotional
impairments,
it's
basically
comes
down
to
how
are
they
reacting
within
their
environment
and
how
the
environment
is
working
with
them.
I
know
that
the
skilled
experts
at
the
campuses
are
qualified
and
can
manage
that
in
a
small
setting.
I
try
to
imagine
these
kids
that
need
this
support
that
deserve
the
support
in
a
regular
classroom
with
the
large
class
sizes
become
struggles
for
our
even
our
most
seasoned
teachers,
so
those
are
just
a
few
of
them.
O
Q
C
Ms
garcia,
thank
you.
Madam
president,
dr
aguilar,
lawler
fellow
board
members,
everyone
in
attendance
and
just
to
to
speak
to
that
the
importance
of
meeting
the
goals
and
objectives
that
are
in
each
individual
iep
is
extremely
important
because
at
that
time,
that's
when
all
of
these
areas
can
be
addressed
on
a
consistent
basis.
So
thank
you.
Yeah.
C
A
Thanks,
miss
garcia,
just
kidding
she's
our
resident
expert
on
the
board.
When
it
comes
to
these
types
of
things,
I
was
just
asking
for
our
public
and
the
first
time
I
experienced
this
type
of
you
know
like
I'm,
a
parent.
Like
ms
martinez,
I
have
a
child
with
autism
and
I
have
a
lot
of
experience
with
ieps,
but
this
is
different.
A
I
couldn't
wrap
my
head
around
it
because
we
weren't
in
the
place
we're
at
today.
This
was
a
number
of
years
ago
when
I
first
got
on
the
board,
so
it
was
interesting
some
of
the
things
that
we
learned
on
how
they
were
able
to
help
scholars,
cope
and
some
of
the
ways
they
had
been
treated
by
the
people
at
the
schools-
and
I
know
that's
not
what's
happening
here,
so
I
just
was
curious
a
little
bit
more
like
if
it
was
things
like
bipolar
unspecified
mood
disorder.
But
your
explanation
was
very
helpful.
A
I
wish
I
had
this
program
as
a
child.
I
would
have
been
much
better
off
if
someone
was
able
to
help
me
understand
the
coping
mechanisms
and
how
to
deal
with
your
behaviors
and
all
of
the
things
that
are,
you
know
overwhelming
in
the
atmosphere
that
other
people
may
not
even
notice
or
other
scholars,
it's
just
a
regular
daily
thing,
but
for
someone
else,
it's
it's
very
debilitating.
So
I
appreciate
you
explaining
it
mr
pina,
madam.
N
A
Yeah,
it
sounds
like
it's
going
really
exceptionally,
so.
Thank
you,
mr
pina.
Dr
mcneil,
we
look
forward
to
future
updates
and
hopefully,
one
day
I'll
be
able
to
get
out
to
go
visit
our
scholars
in
the
the
two
programs.
This
has
really
been
a
dream
of
ours
for
a
long
time.
I
know
miss
garcia
has
been
on
it
for
a
long
time
and
it
is
really
incredible
to
see
it
happening
and
to
see
it
continue
to
improve,
and
I
feel
like
the
move
is
a
really
good
idea
for
ats
to
go
over
to
atkinson.
A
It
just
removes
them
and
puts
them
back
more,
but
wouldn't
it
have
been
great
if
we
had
a
classroom
at
atkinson
where
they
had
a
specialized
teacher
that
could
help
with
the
kids
that
were
on
these
long-term
suspensions
and
it's
happening
so
thank
you
for
taking
this
on
and
for
making
sure
that
our
scholars,
regardless
of
the
need
that
they
have
the
ability
to
be
successful
in
the
right
people
in
their
lives,
to
help
them.
So.
Thank
you
very
much
for
that.
I
appreciate
it.
H
Thank
you,
mr
pena,
dr
mcniel.
Madam
president,
members
of
the
governing
board
special
guests
audience
and
those
viewing
on
youtube,
executive,
team
and
cabinet.
Before
I
introduce
susan,
I
do
want
to
let
everybody
know
that
as
much
as
I
would
like
to
say
that
everything's
perfect
in
our
current
rise
program.
Now
it's
going
to
be
peer
and
ats.
H
It
is
still
a
developing
program
and
I
am
very
proud
of
everybody,
but
miss
emma
haudegee
and
I
tomorrow
do
have
a
meeting
with
the
the
peer
and
the
ats
currently
called
rise.
But
it's
gonna
be
different
tomorrow,
because
we
wanna
listen
to
their
needs
and
some
of
the
the
people
that
are
not
able
to
attend
have
already
sent
emails
to
me
and
such
amazing
staff
members
just
they
start
off
with
all
the
great
things,
and
then
they
have
this
wish
list.
H
And
so
I
look
forward
to
listening
to
them
and
helping
to
improve
the
program
because
it
is
challenging
and
we
want
them
to
feel
comfortable.
So
we
are
meeting
with
them
tomorrow.
I
believe
here
in
the
district
office
right.
Okay,
all
right!
Thank
you.
So
with
that,
I'm
going
to
introduce
susan
doyle,
our
executive
director
of
hr,
our
staffing
update.
K
K
So
we
are
continuing
to
have
applicants,
we're
continuing
to
screen
and
interview
and
hire
those
applicants,
and
that
will
be
ongoing
until
we
get
everything
filled.
We
did
host
our
virtual
job
fair.
Last
friday
we
did
have
some
good
candidates
come
through.
We
simply
wish
we
had
had
more.
We
were
able
to
refer
to
teachers,
to
principals
with
openings
for
interviews,
and
we
were
able
to
support
15
esp
in
completing
and
filling
out
applications
for
various
positions.
K
So
we
were
happy
about
that.
It
was
definitely
time
well
spent,
and
I
do
want
to
give
a
shout
out
to
the
principals
that
were
available
to
help
us
with
our
interviews
and
our
screening.
We
just
wish
we'd
had
more
people
to
share
with
them,
but
they
were
very
generous
with
their
time
and
dr
heredia
and
mary
lou
chavez
really
for
setting
up
those
breakout
rooms
and
planning
the
whole
thing
pretty
quickly
and
pretty
seamlessly.
K
Additionally,
we
had
talked
about
substitute
teachers
and
I'm
going
to
have
some
more
information
for
you
also
later,
when
I
come
back
up
here
again,
but
currently
we
have
274
substitute
teachers
daily.
This
is
mainly
through
contracted
services.
Right
now
we
do
have
access
to
27
emergency
substitute
teachers,
and
we
have
only
five
substitutes
currently,
who
work
exclusively
with
cartwright
and
again
we're
going
to
talk
about
ways
we'd
like
to
to
see
that
increase
and
improve
the
rest
of
our
substitutes
are
through
esi,
which
is
a
contract
agency.
K
We
actually
had
a
meeting
with
them
today
talked
about
a
variety
of
topics
and
again
I'm
going
to
be
sharing
more
about
that
later
on,
but
we
did
have
a
productive
meeting
with
them
today,
where
we
shared
some
concerns.
We
talked
about
some
things
that
are
happening
talked
about
our
needs
as
a
district
and
moving
forward
and
we're
definitely
exploring
other
options
and
opportunities
right
now,.
K
K
K
If
there
are
egregious
policy
violations,
we
always
make
a
report
to
the
investigative
unit
at
the
arizona
department
of
education,
and
we
follow
up
on
those
things
with
fidelity
student
safety
and
well-being
in
the
pursuit
of
education
number
one
priority.
We
have
to
ensure
that
our
scholars
are
are
in
safe
and
secure
learning
environments
with
appropriate
supervision,
and
we
do
that.
J
Yes,
I
do
thank
you,
madam
president.
Fellow
board
members,
dr
lawler
executive
team,
those
in
the
audience
and
those
watching
just
the
word
that
got
my
attention
in
your
presentation
and
thank
you
for
that.
The
word
must
must
adhere
and
you're
referring
to
the
outsourced
agency.
That's
providing
staff
providing
this
with
staff.
J
What
is
being
and
I'm
not
seeing
it
don't
know
what
is
being
currently
being
provided.
What
is
the
procedure?
Is
it
do
we
leave
it
up
to
the
agency
to
bring
him
up
to
speed
in
terms
of
our
policy
or
when
they're
on
campus?
Is
there
an
orientation?
How
does
that?
What
does
that
look
like
there's.
K
A
partnership
with
the
agency-
and
there
is
a
vetting
process
with
the
agency
and
in
fact
it's
a
very
timely
question,
ms
hernandez,
because
I
learned
much
more
about
that
today
as
well.
They
definitely
do
the
background
checks
that
we
do
here.
They
definitely
require
ivp,
fingerprint
clearance
cards
for
all
of
their
staff.
They
also
follow
the
standard
policies
that
we
follow,
that
are
recommended
to
us
for
the
arizona
school
boards
association,
and
so
they
do
provide
training
on
the
overview
of
policy.
K
K
We
have
not
provided
onboarding
for
contract
services,
but
that's
one
of
those
things
we're
looking
at
changing
for
next
year
and
so
again,
that's
something
that
I'm
probably
going
to
talk
a
lot
more
detail
later
on.
But
there
are
processes
in
place
that
the
policies
from
the
arizona
school
boards
association
are
pretty
uniform
across
arizona,
and
even
if
there
are
slight
differences,
the
discipline
policies
are
the
same
gcqf
which
governs
policy
for
discipline.
Dismissal
of
certificated
staff
members
is
uniform
across
the
state.
J
And
just
further
question
regarding
those
staff
hired
by
an
outsourcing
agency,
so
this
is
what's
going
on,
and
so
let's
say
we
have
a.
You
know
an
individual
that
comes
on
campus
to
perform
his
job
duty
and
comes
off
in
a
comes
to
school,
dressed
in
a
you
know,
cut
off
blue
jean
shorts.
K
K
But
the
administrators
do
an
awesome
job
of
communicating
with
us
in
human
resources
so
that
we
can
reach
out
to
the
contracting
company
and
say
this
is
what's
going
on
we're.
Sending
this
person
home
and
they've
never
not
been
supportive
in
something
like
a
dress
code
or
a
dress.
Professional
dress
situation,
it's
probably
not
as
concerning,
but
we
still
expect
people
to
meet
our
expectations
and
our
guidelines,
and
we
would
ensure
that
they
did
so
and.
J
The
reason
I
bring
that
up
is
that
I
cuz-
I
remember
I
remember
in
previous
discussions
regarding
board
policy
pertaining
to
dress
codes
and
things
like
that.
The
word
the
language,
anything
that
disrupts
the
course
of
business
in
the
classroom
or
the
learning
or
teaching
and
learning
right
am.
I.
A
H
Thank
you,
susan.
So,
madam
president,
members
of
the
governing
board
executive
team,
those
in
attendance,
honored
guests
and
those
watching
on
youtube,
I
have
a
couple
of
celebrations
and
announcements.
H
H
She
was
a
three
season
athlete
on
volleyball
cheerleading
and
track.
Congratulations
zelia,
another
former
serious
scholar
in
class
of
2022
trevor
brown,
high
school
jesus
he'll
be
attending
yale
university
in
new
haven.
Connecticut,
congratulations
to
you!
Jesus!
We
are
proud
of
both
of
you.
Our
scholars.
H
I
had
the
opportunity
to
attend
the
earth
day
festival
at
el
oso
park
this
past
saturday.
Thank
you,
chief
boss
for
organizing
this
wonderful
event
to
celebrate
and
bring
awareness
for
our
environment.
There
was
a
huge
turnout.
I
would
like
to
thank
also
the
event
took
place
on
saturday,
the
20th
out
of
ulster
park.
I
had
the
pleasure.
Excuse
me.
H
I
also
want
to
say
thank
you
to
our
public
relations
department,
alma
and
her
team
that
put
a
table
up,
and
I
saw
a
lot
of
people
very
interested
in
the
cartwright
school
district
at
the
event,
so
bringing
them
back
and
also
to
dr
juan
madrana,
who
was
also
invited
to
the
event
and
also
attended
and
to
vice
president
lopez
for
attending
this
event.
For
me,
I
didn't
know
I
was
going
to
be
asked
to
speak
and
he
graciously
came
in
and
did
translating
for
me.
So
thank
you
for
that.
H
H
H
Thank
you
also
to
miss
garcia
for
attending
the
meeting
on
monday
night,
as
we
gave
out
certificates
and
also
for
president
marisa
hernandez.
The
two
of
them
have
been
at
our
meetings
quite
often
to
listen
to
hear
what
the
parents
are
saying,
and
I
know
that's
been
very
helpful
in
decisions
here
at
the
dyess.
I
know
pac
president
made
a
shout
out
to
both
of
you
on
monday,
so
I
wanted
to
make
sure
I
included
that
they
really
appreciate
it.
H
And
finally,
next
week
is
staff
and
teacher
appreciation
week.
There
are
no
words
to
express
the
gratitude
and
appreciation
I
feel
towards
our
cartwright
teachers
and
our
staff
on
behalf
of
the
governing
board
and
district
leadership.
Food
trucks
will
be
on
campuses
all
next
week
to
celebrate
and
honor
you
all
of
our
amazing
staff.
Thank
you.
A
We
do
have
one
called
to
the
public
this
evening
and
because
the
person
who
submitted
the
part
sorry
because
the
person
who
submitted
our
public
participation
at
board
meetings
document
and
wishes
to
address
the
board
is
a
required
participant
in
our
governing
board
meetings.
We
will
allow
her
to
come
up
to
the
to
the
podium
this
evening.
A
Q
It
has
been,
I
was
like
work
good
evening
for
president
hernandez
members
of
the
board,
dr
aguilar,
larlor
and
executive
team,
and
my
colleagues
and
those
in
the
audience
close
them
far.
I
wanted
to
take
a
moment
this
evening
to
thank
you
for
the
opportunity
to
serve
the
cartwright
community
for
the
last
16
years.
It
has
been
my
honor
to
serve
as
the
principal
of
tomahawk.
Q
Q
I
want
to
take
a
moment
to
thank
the
families
that,
over
the
last
16
years,
trusted
me
with
their
students,
their
education,
their
well-being,
and
to
develop
them
into
the
21st
century.
Students
that
I
know
they
are
and
will
become
tomahawk
will
always
be
a
special
place
in
my
heart.
I
thank
you
for
the
opportunity
to
serve
and
know
that,
as
I
leave,
I
leave
to
omaha
community
with
a
sad
heart.
Q
Q
A
A
So
I'll
read
it
should
I
read
it
linda,
maybe
okay,
because
it's
part
of
the
process
so
item
one
consideration
and
a
possible
discussion
of
comments
and
complaints
from
the
public.
The
governing
board
will
not
take
any
legal
action
on
matters
raised
during
this
portion
of
the
meeting.
Unless
the
comments
and
complaints
pertain
to
items
included
on
the
agenda,
a
three-minute
time
limit
is
set,
and
we
are
asked
to
adhere
to
this
limit
time.
Allotments
are
for
each
individual
comment
and
may
not
be
transferred.
A
A
C
Ms
garcia,
before
we
continue
with
this,
may
I
let
me
see,
approve
the
consent
agenda
for
the
april
28
2022
regular
governing
board
meeting
as
presented
and
recused.
My
vote
for
only
item
g17
on
the
current
excuse
me
consent
agenda.
A
So
that
is
your
motion
and
then
your
vote.
Thank
you
all
right.
So
now
we
will.
Oh,
my
goodness,
we're
doing
a
roll
call
vote.
I
need
my
brain
to
slow
down
governing
board
member
miss
lydia
hernandez.
How
do
you
vote.
J
Madam
president,
we
will
have
discussion
after
the
after
the
vote.
A
J
No
okay,
then,
although
I'm
in
favor
of
approving,
but
I
just
I
I
would
like
to
vote
in
support.
I
vote
I
but
I'd
like
to
explain
my
vote
and
I
and
I
have
a
couple
of
questions
just
for
clarification.
J
Item
seven,
the
the
care
solas.
I
know
in
the
past
that
their
board
has
had
questions
regarding
the
practicum
of
services
available
and
if
it
was
something
that
was
being
helpful,
I'm
assuming
that
that's
something
that
we
went
over.
I
just
wanted
to
make
sure
that
that
was
the
case.
H
Yes,
I
can
tell
you
that
our
deputy
superintendent,
emma
haruki,
has
had
many
conversations
with
kara
solis
and
has
requested
by
the
by
the
board's
request
that
we
service
all
of
our
scholars
and
families,
regardless
of
whether
that
they
not
they
have
insurance.
So
I
know
that
they're
looking
in
to
how
they
can
they
can
do
that,
and
so
we're
still
on
that
journey.
But
that
is
the
goal
to
continue
with
them,
but
also
ensure
that
no
one's
turned
away
because
they
don't
have
health
insurance.
J
I'm
probably
doing
the
same
thing:
number
15,
the
approval
of
deputy
superintendent
of
human
ser
resources
for
the
22
23
school
year
and
revised
job
description
for
the
deputy
superintendent
of
human
resources.
J
A
question
and
I
might
have
missed
the
meeting,
but
this
is
the
position
that
we
know
that
that
we
term
the
assistant
superintendents
on
the
executive
team
did
we,
I
probably
missed
it,
have
a
meeting
where
it
went
from
assistant
to
deputy.
And
what
does
that
mean?
Is
it.
H
Madam
president,
members
of
the
governing
board
board
member
lydia
hernandez:
do
you
recall
we
had
dr
ceci
umayus?
She
was
a
deputy
superintendent
of
hr
and
and
building
operations,
and
so
we
didn't
eliminate
the
position
we
just
didn't
fill
it.
We
went
with
assistant,
superintendent
and
kind
of
split
that
position
when
we
posted
for
the
assistant
superintendent
of
human
resources,
and
we
interviewed
all
of
the
staff.
H
One
of
the
things
that
was
part
of
the
process
was
the
salary,
and
so
we
looked
to
see
what
positions
we
already
had
and
went
ahead
and
updated
that
position
and
are
asking
tonight
for
the
board
to
be
able
to
hire
somebody
who's
going
to
oversee
human
resources,
but
also
be
able
to
act
as
legal
counsel
for
the
school
district
and
the
principals
and
everyone
rather
than
use
outside
services.
We'll
still
use
some
for
different
things,
but
it
would
be
been
a
cost
benefit
to
the
district
to
be
able
to
do
that.
D
J
So
a
surprise,
but
but
this
is,
if
I'm
not
mistaken,
we
have
a
person
that
has
served
in
that
capacity
for
as
attorney
for
the
district
on
higher
for
special
projects
or
something
in
the
past.
So.
J
And
and
a
question
so
so
going
back
to
that
the
position
that
was
titled
deputy
when,
when.
J
Dr
cecilia
cecilia
mays,
had
it
what
what
did
the
term
in
the
difference
mean?
Was
it
applicable
to
her
as
well?
What
I
mean
not
an
attorney,
but
what
is
the
deputy?
What's
the
difference
between
the
deputy
and
the
the
assistant
is
just
the
extension
of
those
of
the
the
additional
license?
Let's
say.
J
Okay,
so
this
is
going
to
be
different
than
the
previous
hr
assistant
superintendent
position.
H
J
Okay,
I
was
trying
to
understand
what
happens
to
the
to
the
director
and
the
difference.
What
how
what
yeah.
H
So
mary
lou
chavez
is
our
director
of
hr
and
dr
guillermo
was
our
other
director
of
hr.
Mary
lou
chavez
is
retiring
and
we
had
actually
posted
that
position
and,
unfortunately,
didn't
get
what
we
were
needing.
You
know
someone
with
experience,
so
then
we
reposted
for
an
assistant
soup
and
then
that's
where
we're
in
this
position
right
now
and
we're
actually
very
excited
about
the
possibility
to
have
somebody
that
can
you
know,
sit
on
the
dice
with
us
and
be
able
to
give
us
general
counsel.
H
Principals
can
call
when
they're
situations
and
and
of
course,
the
executive
team.
We
spend
a
lot
of
time
getting
legal
guidance,
and
so
we
also
feel
like
this
is
gonna
save
time
as
well.
J
Okay,
thank
you
for
that,
because
I
did
see
as
going
through.
I
think
I
read
through
the
first
20
because
there's
about
40
different
points,
and
it
wasn't
until
I
got
to
21
that
it
starts
about
hr
and
I'm
going.
This
is
all
legal
guidance.
Professional
development
governing
board
policies
in
terms
of
relationship
to
the
board
find
community
facilities.
J
Communication
with
the
trust
financial
officer
for
bond
capital
needs
renders
legal
opinions
upon
request
to
the
governing
board
legal
assistance
in
drafting
legal
documents,
board
policy
and
regulations,
resolutions,
applications
of
diverse
kinds
and
other
legal
memo
of
understanding
upon
request
keeps
abreast
of
legislative
legislation,
legal
guidance,
documentation,
conducts
research
and
prepares
reports
on
various
topics.
J
Various
so
there's
a
lot
of
broad
words
in
there
reviews
district
contracts
coordinates
legal
matters
with
outside
counsel
monitors,
legal
services
provided
by
the
district
outside
council,
and
so
my
question
that
I
have
to
the
side
was:
will
this
replace
the
use
of
our
hiring
of
outsourcing?
You
know
we
have
a,
I
think,
a
contract
with
a
team
of
attorneys
that
address
these
concerns
currently
for
a
membership
fee.
I
think
yes,.
H
So,
and
I
could
also
ask
my
chief
financial
officer
to
maybe
help
a
little
bit,
but
it's
my
understanding
that,
as
we
continue
with
this
position,
that
it
is
very
likely
in
the
future,
we
would
not
have
to
pay
for
those
services.
And
that
is
quite
a
bit.
So
if
victoria,
for
I'd
like
to
explain
that,
because
we
did
quite
a
bit
of
investigation
on
this,
so
miss
ferrara.
R
Good
evening
board
president
members
of
the
governing
board,
dr
aguilar,
lawler
members
of
the
executive
team
and
everyone
in
attendance,
the
we
have
prepaid
legal
services
through
the
arizona
risk,
retention,
trust
and
that's
you
know
we
can
procure
services
from
in
you
know
a
variety
of
different
law
firms
that
specialize
in
school
finance
and
we've.
You
know
this
doing
that
this
way,
actually
having
an
in-house
legal
counsel,
will
save
us
a
considerable
amount
of
money
we're
over
about
three
hundred
thousand
dollars
just
this
year,
an
attorney
fees.
So
that's
you
know
it's
gonna.
R
It's
gonna
considerably
help.
Now
we
will
still
have
to
contract
outside
for
very
f,
very
few
things
very
specific
things,
but
we
you
know
we
do
spend.
This
would
really
can
help.
The
district
reduce
some
of
those
costs.
J
Thank
you
for
that.
It's
just
still
still
concerned
concerning
to
me
only
because
there
are
a
lot
of
different,
I
think,
within
within
within
the
law
and
practice.
There's
a
variety
there's
so
many
different
avenues
that
we
would
employ,
not
just
legal
counsel.
You
know
the
policy
for
governance,
things
like
that,
but
but
there's
other
liabilities
and
which
is
why
we
have
that
trust,
but
that
was
that
was
one,
and
I
wanted
to
make
sure
I
understood
the
scope
of
the
the
position.
J
H
J
I
said
actively
improve
communication
and
cooperation,
I'm
going
how,
but,
but
I
thought
I'd
ask
engages
in
advocating,
promoting
and
securing
the
rights
of
all
persons,
with
particular
reference
to
employees
of
the
district,
and
I
think
there
was
overseas
the
processing,
processing
of
complaints
regarding
the
alleged
or
suspected
unlawful
employment
practices
and
manages
a
substitute
calling
system
which
I
know
it's
going
to
get
addressed
and
we're
going
to
have
a
few
another
presentation
on
the
recruitment
selection
and
employ
employment
of
subs
substitutes.
J
There's
a
lot
there's
a
lot
under
this,
which
is
also
concerning
because
going
back
to
there's
it's
just
the
grand
scope
and
oversee
there,
and
it
might
seem-
and
maybe
it's
just
language-
it
goes
into
like
a
standard
of
language.
It
goes
into
a
job
description,
but
but
because
it
is
different,
because
there
was
time
and
a
lot
of
research
that
went
into
it.
J
Just
thought:
I'd
ask
overseas
a
communication
system
for
keeping
all
stakeholders
informed
public
relations.
There
was
something
on
oh
public
relations,
leadership
and
cfo
with
all
public
relations
and
information
issues
that
may
arise
are
we
do.
We
currently
still
have
the
other
visit.
We
had
a
previous
position
that
oversaw,
I
think
the
director
of
public
relations
is
that
for
that
person
still
employed
or
the
position's
still
here,.
A
We
do
not
need
a
special
meeting
to
discuss
if
we're
going
to
change
a
position.
That's
a
discussion
between
the
board
superintendent
and
I,
if
it's
okay,
to
present
it
on
the
agenda
and
then
we
have
seven
days
to
discuss
it
and
ask
our
questions,
but
we
do
not
need
a
special
meeting.
That's
what
our
consent
in
this
meeting
is
for.
I
just
wanted
to
clarify
that
for
our
public
and
that
was
it.
J
Thank
you,
madam
president,
as
I
will
reiterate
as
in
past,
it's
not
new,
but
I've
always
felt
that
under
the
consent
agenda
in
this,
in
this
case
it
might
have
what
how
many
items
so
many
and
important
and
critical,
such
as
budget
procurement.
You
know
changes
revisions
to
policies
that
are
bundled
up,
that
that
are
quite
broad
and
I
think
it's
worth
a
discussion
only
as
as
this
board
is
so
much
in
favor
of
transparency.
J
Just
so
we
make
sure
we
don't
get
those
questions
and
if
and
we've
discussed
it
openly
because,
although
I
I
respect
the
process
of
the
you
know
as
a
board,
we
are
only
responsible
for
one
employee
and
I
understand
that.
But
I'm
not
privy
to
those
conversations
and
although
we
might
have,
we
don't
have
the
week,
the
agendas
are
not
posted
that
week
in
advance.
J
So
if
I
have
a
question
that
I
that's
gonna
hurt
me
later,
I'd
rather
ask
it
and
it
might
be
just
that
question
that
somebody
else
might
have,
but
for
my
own
understanding
making
sure
that
I
understand
what
I'm
voting
on
for
myself.
It's
just
part
of
how
I
learn
and
how
I
engage.
I
just
rather
ask
the
question
than
than
you
know
think
something
else
so
I'd
rather
it
be
be
told
to
me
and
I'm
sorry
if
it
takes
up
that
time.
I
just
wanted
to
be
clear.
J
You
know
the
scope
and
work,
because
the
title
change
the
what
this
signifies
and
the
pulling
together
of
different
positions
into
one.
Thank
you
for
that.
Thank
you.
A
And
ms
hernandez,
I'm
sorry,
yes,
miss
hernandez,
voted.
Well,
no!
Miss
garcia
voted
first,
because
she
recused
herself
from
only
item
g17
on
the
consent
agenda
and.
F
A
H
Madam
president,
members
of
the
governing
board
audience
executive
team
and
those
watching
in
the
audience
we
have
several.
This
is
that
time
of
the
year
right
where
you
you
have
several
congratulations.
So
our
first
one
is
mr
jeff
stratman,
our
new
deputy
superintendent
for
human
resources.
H
Yay.
Yes,.
H
H
H
And
we
have
an
opening
at
davidson
not
yet
filled
because
our
former
prince
well
you're,
still
the
principal.
Until
you
know
this,
we
got
his
thumbs
up
for
those
of
you
who
don't
see
it.
Our
new
director
of
fredo
programs
and
ground
development
miss
christine
mrs
christine
tamayo,.
A
K
K
You
know,
bring
those
cartwright
substitutes
back
to
cartwright
a
lot
of
substitute
teachers,
particularly
if
they're
retired
teachers
want
to
go
back
to
the
places
they're
familiar
with
and
the
places
they
know,
and
people
consider
cartwright
their
homes
and
we'd
like
to
welcome
them
back
to
working
for
us
instead
of
having
to
go
through
a
contract
agency.
So
that's
something
that
we're
definitely
exploring
right
now.
K
We've
also
talked
about
as
kind
of
mentioned
earlier,
from
one
of
your
questions
board
member
hernandez,
that
we'd
like
to
have
a
better
program
for
training,
our
specific
people
for
our
specific
needs
and
schools
and
scholars,
and
so
we're
talking
about
implementing
something
that
I
don't
want
to
call
it
this.
If
we're
going
to
change
it,
but
a
substitute
academy
where
we're
training,
people
and
teaching
people
and
helping
people
understand
our
expectations
for
them
and
for
their
success
in
working
at
our
schools
and
with
our
scholars.
K
We're
also
looking
at
you
know
those
with
the
work
for
insurance
people,
perhaps
training
esps,
who
have
retired
and
might
be
interested
in
coming
back,
and
I
will
tell
you
that
the
human
resources
department,
particularly
michelle,
has
done
a
really
nice
job
of
helping
people
find
those
alternative
pathways
for
certification.
K
But
we
want
to
make
sure
we're
just
getting
people
in
those
positions
in
our
schools
and
on
our
campuses
that
know
what
we
want
from
them.
That
know
how
to
meet
the
needs
of
our
scholars
and
that
are
willing
to
work
with
our
administration
across
the
district,
because
substitute
teachers
are
valuable
to
our
district,
but
they're
very
important
to
our
scholars,
and
we
want
to
make
sure
that
we
have
the
right
people
in
those
positions.
So
it's
something
that
we're
really
exploring
right
now.
K
J
Fellow
board
members,
dr
lawler
executive
team,
those
in
the
audience
and
those
watching.
J
The
training
module,
I
think
the
the
esro
officers
would
be
great
if
they
would.
J
You
know,
go
through
that
as
well,
just
only
because
that's
more
supportive,
I'm
just
thinking
back
to,
I
think,
as
I
shared
with
dr
lawler,
I
had
been
out
just
engaging
in
so
many
conversations
and
although
and
I
and
I'm
gonna-
and
I
can
say
it
publicly
because
you
know
I'll,
listen
to
the
concerns
and
and
I'll
report
him,
and
I
can't
I'm
not
not
having
dealt
with
the
circumstances
myself
or
no
of
the
in
and
around
happenings.
J
But
but
I
do
vouch
that
I
will
at
least
ask
the
questions
and
make
sure
that
we're
addressing
you
know
their
concerns
and
that
you
know
people
feel
that
they're
they're
being
listened
to
regardless
of,
however,
that
that
turns
out
at
least
that
we've
done
our
due
diligence,
which
is
thus
the
questions
just
to
me
as
a
concern-
and
I
recently
had
my
all
of
my
brothers
and
sisters-
are
educators.
J
One
just
recently
got
recognized
for
a
teacher
of
the
year,
my
baby
brother
and
he's
so
devoted
and
committed
to
his
students,
but
but
they're
facing
challenges.
It's
not
just
here,
it's
all
over,
especially
in
special
ed
and
the.
I
think
I
I
when
I
was
listening
to
dr
to
mr.
D
J
Talk
about
the
the
challenges
and
what
it
takes
for
these
positions
that
I
under
that.
I
understand
that
we
need
to
have
the
best
and
trained
staff
to
deal.
You
know
that
know
how
to
deal
with
with
this
population
and
and
then
going
back.
I
think
to
it's,
not
not
just
the
the
special
ed,
but
also
our
alternative
education,
kids,
because
they
are
impacted,
trauma
impacted,
thus
the
the
cell.
J
But
thank
you
I
like
what
I'm
listening
moving
forward
and,
from
my
end
at
least
I
I've
done
my
part,
but
thank
you.
Thank.
A
Thank
you,
ladies
any
other
comments.
I
mean
it's
definitely
wonderful
to
hear
and
I'm
excited
to
see
how
many
we
can
how
we
can
build
this
program.
Thank
you.
Thank
you
all
right.
So
we
are
moving
on
to
item
two,
which
is
our
discussion
and
information
regarding
revised
cartwright
school
district
exhibit
k-f-e-a-e-a
community
use
of
school
facilities
presented
by
dr
juan
medrano.
I
Madam
president,
members
of
the
board,
dr
aguilar,
lawler,
executive
team
members
and
audience
in
attendance,
this
policy
exhibit
is
to
we
wanted
to
propose
just
some
slight
changes
in
verbiage
to
allow
us
to
make
sure
that
we
are
supporting
the
continuation
of
our
after
school
extracurricular
activities
that
our
community,
our
community
organizations,
come
in
to
do
like
little
leagues
and
different
organizations
along
those
lines.
For
the
most
part,
we
try
and
make
sure
that
we
cover
our
po.
I
So
the
verbiage
proposal
that
we're
making
on
here
is
that
we
amend
to
state
that
a
staff,
a
staff
member
or
an
agent,
must
be
on
duty
for
for
the
duration
or
during
the
use
of
the
facilities.
I
What
that
would
allow
for
is
in
those
instances
where,
in
particular,
in
our
facility,
where
it's
kind
of
a
stand-alone,
a
standalone,
isolated
athletic
facility,
where
we
can
still
secure
our
main
building
and
alarm
our
main
building
but
like
when
our
little
league
feels
at
holiday
park
and
as
an
example,
the
concession
stand
has
its
own
restroom.
I
So
it's
pretty
independent
of
the
rest
of
campus,
but
for
purposes
of
locking
up
at
the
end
of
the
night
for
later
games,
and
once
everything
is
wrapped
up
by
adding
the
amending
our
language
to
include
staff
or
an
agent
would
allow
us
to
be
able
to
utilize
some
of
the
services
that
we
that
we
engage
like
our
secure.
I
Our
are
the
security
company
that
we
work
with
to
be
able
to
come
and
help
lock
up
the
facilities
make
sure
everything
is
secure,
in
particular
for
those
later
those
later
events,
where
it's
more
difficult
to
get
our
custodial
coverage
for
that
late
of
a
time.
A
A
A
B
You,
madam
president,
dr
agler
lawler
fellow
board
members
and
executive
team
and
those
in
the
audience
I
think,
as
mentioned
earlier,
we
did
have
the
opportunity
to
attend
the
cheese
play
event
this
weekend
last
weekend,
great
opportunity.
We
had
families
come
to
our
table
and
ask
questions
about
our
district.
So
that's
always
a
plus
parent
meeting
yesterday
went
well
as
well.
I
think,
as
a
parent,
I
will
be
always
concerned
too
about
my
kids
traveling.
So
I
was
happy
to
see
that
parents
ask
questions
and
they
felt
comfortable
with
all
the
staff
that
was
there.
B
B
C
Thank
you.
Madam
president,
dr
aguilar
lawler
fellow
board
members,
everyone
in
attendance,
both
both
physically
and
online.
I
just
actually
wanted
to
extend
gratitude
for
being
a
part
of
the
retirement
ceremony
I
want.
I
would
like
to
wish
everyone
an
abundance
of
joy
and
love,
of
course,
in
your
new
journey
and
for
those
of
you
who
will
be
remaining
with
us,
we
are
welcoming
you
back
with
open
arms
and
marilyn.
You
almost
made
me
cry.
C
J
You,
madam
president,
fellow
board,
members,
dr
lawler
executive
team,
those
watching
and
those
in
the
audience.
I
you
know
I'm
just
glad
to
be
here.
I
did.
I
did
want
to
express
my
my
apologies
for
not
having
been
able
to
attend
the
the
retirement
dinner
and
those
they're
probably
going
to
be
a
few.
A
few
future
events.
J
I
know
I've
been
I've
got
a
brother-in-law,
that's
got
pancreatic
cancer,
so
we've
begun,
we've
begun
and
it's
it's
it's
as
we
move
forward,
but
I
do
the
best
in
trying
to
make
our
meetings
and
so
far
I
think
linda.
Thank
you
for
those
for
keeping
me
on
the.
I
had
questions
about
what
you
know
what
was
happening
next
and
I
almost
thought
the
retreat.
J
I
was
missing.
The
retreat
on
tuesday
so
got
the
clarification,
and
so
I'm
on
board.
I'm
just
glad
to
be
able
to
be
here
and
continue
unit
2
advocates
for
our
children,
our
parents,
our
staff
and
always
just
trying
to
do
the
best
that
I
can
to
apply
those
to
diligent
my
due
diligence
and
everything
that
I
do,
including
just
listening
and
hearing.
Even
when
I
cannot.
You
know
not
responsible
for
that
resolution,
but
I
continue
to
be
to
be
you
know
moving
forward
in
this
position.
A
A
Thank
you
for
the
parting
gifts
and
you
know
for
almost
making
all
of
us
cry,
but
we
are
so
happy
for
you
to
be
a
grandmother
and
enjoy
your
grandbabies
and
live
the
dream,
and
I
know
you'll
find
plenty
of
ways
to
encourage
others
and
your
grandchildren
will
have
the
most
incredible
grandmother
and
leader
and
there's
no
words.
You
know
it's
such
a
great
opportunity
and
while
we'll
miss
you
we'll
be
so
happy
for
you
we'll
be
so
happy
for
you.
A
A
It
was
nice
to
see
our
cea
there
this
year,
yay
cea.
That
was
definitely
different
and
very
very
much
in
alignment
with
our
cartwright
familia
here.
So
that
was
awesome.
So
thank
you
and
I
hope
to
see
you
at
future
events
as
well.
That
was
a
great
collaboration
and
really
grateful
to
be
able
to
attend
the
washington
dc
trip
with
the
glenel
downs
there.
D
A
We
are
going
to
be
going
with
as
chaperones
and
helping
with
the
scholars,
and
I
just
feel
very
honored,
as
I'm
sure
mr
lopez
does
as
well
the
the
that
our
parents
entrust
us
with
their
their
scholars
in
a
different
state
and
on
a
plane
and
various
modes
of
transportation,
and
so
we're
just
so
grateful
to
them
for
entrusting
us
with
their
most
valuable,
the
most
valuable
thing
that
they
have
in
their
lives,
which
is
their
children
as
all
parents
feel
and
as
a
parent.
A
A
It
just
shows
how
much
of
a
family
we
really
are,
and
so
thank
you
and
I'm
excited
to
bring
back
information
with
mr
lopez.
He's
gonna.
Outshine
me,
of
course,
which
is
okay,
he's
so
shiny.
I
gotta
wear
my
sunglasses.
A
A
It
just
really
feels
like
a
family
going
and
I'm
so
excited
to
share
those
those
memories
and
all
of
the
the
different
opportunities
that
have
been
created
for
our
scholars,
to
be
there
with
them
to
experience
that
and
bring
all
of
that
back
for
everyone
here
to
be
able
to
view
and
all
of
our
parents
and
our
community
out
there
who
watch
us
on
youtube
and
follow
along
with
us.
It's
just
amazing
and
also
to
say
thank
you
so
much
and
express
gratitude
to
our
parent
advisory
council
president.
A
The
world
may
never
know,
and
we
won't
what
it
would
have
been
like
if
we
didn't
have
you
as
our
pac
president
for
the
last
four
years
and
it's
been
an
honor
serving
aside
you
and
I
look
forward
to
continued
collaboration
with
you
here
in
the
district.
A
I
can't
wait
for
you
to
get
your
teacher
certificate
you're
doing
amazing,
and
I
just
know
that
you'll
find
ways
to
be
connected.
Even
though
you're
you
know,
you've
gotta,
you've
gotta,
your
kids
are
going
into
high
school.
You
know
your
last
one's
going
into
high
school
and
I
totally
understand
so
we're
just
so
grateful
that
we've
had
this
opportunity
to
learn
and
grow
beside
you
and
our
parents.
So
thank
you
and
as
as
always,
I
appreciate
everything
our
board
appreciates
everything
that
you
all
do
you
guys
are
amazing.
A
A
We
love
you
miss
hernandez,
but
let's
go
I'm
telling
it
to
myself
too
so
item
four
is
the
request
for
future
agenda
items
which
I'm
sure
we
don't
have
any
as
information
and
discussion
at
a
future
meeting
board
members
miss
hernandez.
J
Madam
president,
fellow
board,
members
executive
team,
those
in
the
audience
and
those
watching
just
a
question
when
we
have
an
item
that
we
have
on
the
agenda,
either
we
vote
or
not,
or
even
if
it's
a
presentation,
there's
always
an
executive
content,
and
it
explains
the
workflow
as
to
you
know
the
proposal
how
it
went,
the
channels
who
ended
up
you
know
who
approved
it
this
this
and
that
a
question.
J
What
is
now
is
this
just
meant
because
it's
tomahawk,
what
is
a
I
haven't,
seen
it
before,
but
it
says
forced
approval.
J
H
So,
madam
president,
members
of
the
government
audience
and
special
guests
and
those
watching
there's
a
workflow
and
if
somebody's
not
available
to
approve
above
that
person,
then
linda
or
christine,
will
or
victoria
will
force
approve
for
someone
that
did
isn't
available
above
so
like
if
gary's
out,
and
he
has
items
that
have
to
be
approved.
Then
victoria
will
force
the
proof
because
she's,
the
next
person
and
then
linda
and
christine
are
the
final
approvers.
A
Nothing
all
right
so
we're
moving
on
to
the
best
item.
No,
it's
not
the
announcement
of
second
best
announcement
of
future
meeting
date
and
other
routine
information
concerning
the
governing
board.
A
special
governing
board
meeting
governing
board
retreat
will
be
held
on
thursday
may
19th
2022
at
5
pm.
The
next
regular
governing
board
meeting
will
be
held
on
thursday
may
12th
at
5
00
pm
at
the
cartwright
school
district
boardroom.
A
All
right
and
now
we're
moving
on
to
item
j,
which
is
adjournment.
I'd
like
to
make
a
motion
for
adjournment
of
the
cartwheel
elementary
school
district,
regular
governing
board
meeting
of
april
28
2022..
Do
I
have
a
second
second?
Thank
you,
mr
lopez,
so
we
do
have
a
motion
made
by
myself,
marissa
hernandez
second
by
governing
board.
Vice
president,
mr
pedro
lopez,
ms
garcia,
how
do
you
vote?
