Description
Chandler City Council Meeting 5-11-2023
A
A
B
That's
great,
oh
he's
not
even
well
good
evening
and
welcome
to
the
May
11th
regular
city
council
meeting
we've
had
a
study
session
on
Monday,
in
which
we
have
the
opportunity
to
go
over
the
agenda,
and
so
tonight's
meeting
will
very
likely
be
much
shorter
and
with
that
clerk,
please
call
the
roll
mayor.
B
D
B
B
E
Lord
and
improve
and
strengthen
and
support.
People
who
live
here
and
work
here
and
play
here
in
Arizona
and
specifically
in
the
town
of
the
city
of
Chandler,
bless
this
time
tonight.
May
you
give
great
wisdom
and
guidance
and
overseeing
the
business
Lord
at
hand
as
these
folks
dwell
on
those
things
tonight
and
and
make
choices.
I
pray
in
Jesus
name,
amen,
amen.
E
F
B
B
By
council
member
Poston
any
any
recusals,
any
other
things
you
report
to
the
clerk
hearing,
none
Council,
please
vote.
B
Yeah
so
many
jokes,
we
could
make
up
here
with
each
other.
Can
we
all
right
click
to
wave
any
unscheduled
public
appearances
tonight,
mayor.
B
Okay,
thank
you
so
much
next,
one
first
I
want
to
say
hello
to
Valley,
Christian
government
class.
I'm
sure
thank
you
for
for
coming
and
we
always
appreciate
our
students
here
and
and
sorry.
You
don't
hear
horrific
debates
tonight
about
any
issues,
but
maybe
come
again
another
time.
B
So
with
that
I'd
like
to
start
with
just
announcements
to
end
our
session
here
got
three
or
four.
First
I'd
like
to
talk
about
are
Asian
American
Pacific
Islander
heritage
month,
which
is
this
month
every
may
we
celebrate
Asian
American
and
Pacific
Islander
Heritage
Month.
The
library
is
hosting
several
special
story
times
throughout
the
month
and
on
Saturday
May
20th
a
week
from
this
Setter
we
will
be
hosting
our
second
annual
Asian
American
Community
Conference
It's
a
Wonderful
opportunity
to
connect
with
the
community
to
listen,
learn
and
engage
in
meaningful
conversations.
B
There
will
be
a
keynote
speaker,
Lily
Chen,
Plus
panel
discussions
and
networking
opportunities,
so
space
is
limited,
so
make
sure
that
you
register.
Secondly,
yesterday
we
had
our
one
year
anniversary
of
golden
neighbors.
Several
council
members
were
there.
This
is
a
wonderful
program
that
began
a
year
ago
this
month.
It
connects
senior
residents
with
cost
of
living
assistance,
home
repairs
and
everyday
supplies
such
as
food
and
toiletries
staff,
hosted
a
celebration
this
week
and
handed
out
bags
just
chucked
full
of
items,
and
so
far
the
city
has
served
more
than
200
residents.
B
Thirdly,
I'd
like
to
again
give
kudos
to
one
of
our
non-profits
Ascend
this
morning
they
had
their
ascends
egg
benefit
breakfast,
as
you
see
on
the
screen.
Many
of
us
were
able
to
make
this
as
well
as
several
council
members
and
the
mayor
from
Gilbert
as
well.
This
organization
helps
provide
food
and
resources
to
people
in
need.
They
also
have
literacy,
programs,
children's
programs,
others
that
connect
people
who
are
experiencing
homeless
and
also
provide
emergency
lodging
Services.
B
B
B
It's
pretty
close
to
my
house
and
Dobson
and
Chandler
Boulevard
they're
doing
their
ribbon,
cutting
on
Saturday
everyone's
invited,
there's
lots
of
samples,
games,
raffles,
and
it
turns
out
they're
also
having
a
pie
in
your
face
attraction
featuring
yours
truly.
So,
if
you've
ever
wanted
to
throw
a
pie
in
my
face
Council
our.
B
F
Just
a
few
quick
announcements,
I
know
vice
mayor
you're,
probably
gonna,
be
speaking
about
the
event
that
we
had
for
the
military.
Oh
my
gosh
graduates,
sorry,
but
so
I'll.
Let
you
speak
more
on
that
I
just
wanted
to
just
say
what
a
great
event
it
was
our
military
and
Veterans
commission
put
on.
It
was
my
first
time
being
part
of
that
and
honoring
our
youth
that
are
making
that
commitment
to
our
military
service.
It
was
a
great
event
also
it
is
Nurses
Appreciation
Week.
F
So
thank
you.
Thank
you,
but
I
will
be
visiting
some
of
our
nurses
down
at
dignity,
Dignity
Health
tomorrow,
I'm
taking
them
some
treats
to
show
our
appreciation
there
and
also
yesterday
was
Mexican
Mother's
Day
and
we're
also
be
celebrating
this
weekend.
So
happy
Mother's
Day
to
all
the
mothers.
My
mom
gets
to
celebrate
it
twice
so
yeah.
That's
all
my
announcements
for
today.
B
B
A
Member
Ellis,
thank
you
mayor.
Thank
you
for
saying
the
happiness
week
to
me
because
we
all
celebrating
Nurses
Week
this
week
during
my
Facebook
live
earlier.
I
had
a
nurse
here
with
me
at
the
studio
she
her
name
is
Trish
she's
from
where
you're
going,
which
is
Dignity
Health,
and
she
is
the
senior
director
for
the
nursing
department.
Over
there.
We
discussed
the
importance
of
having
nurses
in
our
lives.
A
Don't
you
just
love
to
have
a
nurse
in
your
life
and
that's
me
when
I
first
got
my
they
put
that's
my
mom
and
my
aunt
with
me
and
my
left
your
right
and
then
that's
when
I
got
my
BSN
over
at
at
GCU,
so
I
am
an
alumni
close
to
all
the
nurses
out
there.
Please
take
the
time
to
express
your
gratitude
to
some
of
the
nurses
that
are
in
your
life
and
I
will
say
please
kiss
a
nurse
this
week
and
then
they
are
your
mom.
They
are
your
dad.
A
You
have
been
your
dad.
They
are
any
anybody
in
your
life
that
are
nurses.
Please
reveal
them,
because
without
nurses
we
can't
have
hospitals
without
nurses.
We
cannot
have
really
anything
else
in
the
world.
You
all
knew
what
happened
not
drink
of
it,
and
so,
if
we
didn't
have
nurses,
where
would
we
be
today
so
again,
I
would
like
to
shout
out
to
all
the
nurses,
all
over
Chandler
and
all
over
Arizona
happy
nursing
week.
Thank
you
mayor
and.
A
D
Know
we
lost
control
mayor
as
council
member
Cena
say
we
had
the
privilege
of
giving
30
Chandler
area
students
recognition
for
joining
the
military.
We
had
the
Navy
Army
Marines
and
the
Air
Force
guys
I,
don't
know
where
they
were,
but
I'm
going
to
make
some
phone
calls
next
year.
We're
gonna
have
to
get
those
Air
Force
guys
down
actually.
D
It
that's
what
it
was
yeah
actually
I
think
they
had
a
back-to-back
event,
and
this
was
yet
the
third
one.
So
anyway,
no
worries
well
the
kids
enjoyed
it.
The
mayor
gave
out
some
coins.
I
said
a
few
words
and
I
really
appreciate
the
support
of
what
they're
doing
and
what's
the
best
part
about
that
the
parents
were
in
the
audience.
We
had
a
few
words
for
them
on
how
to
deal
with
their
children
being
away
from
home.
It's
tough!
It's
tough
life
for
everyone.
So
wishing
them
the
worlds
of
success.
D
I
want
to
thank
the
veterans
commission.
They
have
been
what
about
12
14
months
now,
maybe
and
yeah.
They
had
been
an
aggressive
group
of
individuals,
they're
doing
a
lot
of
things
out
in
our
community
kudos
to
them,
particularly
Shane
Levinson,
who
actually
spearheaded
thee
or
you
know,
was
a
point
of
contact
for
that
and
the
best
and
your
staff.
Thank
you
great
job
on
that.
So
and,
as
you
said,
Happy
Mother's,
Day
and
I'll
be
first
to
give
you
a
kiss
because
Mark
can't
get
over
here.
H
Stewart,
thank
you
mayor
and
congratulations
to
all
the
the
graduates
and
Valley
Christian
here
tonight.
You
picked
the
right
night.
That's
for
sure.
Last
week,
last
session
was
about
an
hour
and
15
minutes
so
and
we
make
you
stay
to
the
end
in
order
to
get
your
credit,
so
you
lucked
out
you
have
to
tell
your
friends
that
but
hey
I'm,
a
proud
dad
I
have
a
ASU,
WP,
Cary
business
school
graduate.
H
So
shout
out
to
my
son
Cole
we
graduated
on
Tuesday
and
he
walked
and
I
just
couldn't
be
more
happy
for
him.
But
again,
I
want
to
express
all
my
congratulations
to
the
high
schoolers,
the
trade
school
folks,
the
college
graduates
Etc.
This
is
that
season
when
everybody
is
taking
that
next
step
in
their
journey
of
life,
whether
that's
going
to
college,
whether
that's
going
to
trade
school
whatever
that
may
be.
H
This
is
a
good
time
for
a
lot
of
families,
so
I'm
super
proud
and
Cole
will
continue
to
celebrate
your
accomplishments
and
I
and
I
I
know
the
sky's
the
limit
for
you.
So
you
know,
I
was
really
happy
to
see
it
kind
of
give
the
shout
out
to
piefection.
H
You
know
Chandler
is
such
a
huge
small
business
supporter
and
they
are
the
lifeblood
of
what
makes
us
work
every
day
and
and
what
makes
this
city
as
great
as
it
is
so
I'm
just
grateful
to
see
their
continued
success
and
and
look
forward
to
Saturday
and
then
the
last
thing
I
want
to
say
is
Happy
Mother's
Day
and
for
those
mothers
that
are
still
with
us
and
those
that
are
not,
let's
spend
a
special
day
on
Sunday
thinking
about
them
and
and
treating
them
to
pancakes
and
whatever
it
is
that
you
do
at
home.
G
G
A
Daughter
graduated
also
this
morning
with
a
master's
over
at
ASU.
Congratulations.
