From YouTube: CHAOSS WG D&I: Documenting our Process and Designing our Metric Detail Page

Description

We welcomed a few new people who had learned about the D&I workgroup through Emma's monthly all and recent blog post.

Today's major topics were:

- How do we document our process and reference related works? The background of this conversation is motivated by that we build on the shoulders of giants and want to acknowledge that. Also, we want the resources that we produce to be taken up and provide evidence for why we have criteria in it.
+ We decided to put references inside the goal-question-metric files.
+ We decided to include in pull-requests rationale for our changes, to keep a documentation trail.
* TODO: describe this in our README/CONTRIBUTING file (needs volunteer)

- How do we make the goals and questions that we have actionable?
+ We decided to follow the Metric Detail Page format that NCWIT uses for resources. This contains four sections: 1) A motivation for why a metric is important; 2) Sample Objectives that a community might have when measuring a metric; 3) Sample Strategies that can be used for answering the question associated with the metric; and 4) Specific instructions for how to execute the strategies. (See here for prototype)
* TODO: create a pull request that creates templated Metric Detail Pages. (Georg)
