Burlington Stores, the national discount retailer, hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for their new store in the St. Andrew’s Shopping Center in West Ashley. As part of the celebration, Stono Park Elementary School received a $5,000 donation from Burlington as part of their partnership with the national non-profit organization AdoptAClassroom.org, which will go to the school’s teachers for classroom supplies.

Stono Park's principal, Kimberly Richards, staff from the school, Charleston County School District’s (CCSD) Board of Trustees Chair, Rev. Dr. Eric Mack, Constituent District 10 Board Chair Rodney Lewis, City of Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg, Charleston City Councilman Ross Appel, and CCSD representatives are all participated in the ceremony.

We wanted to welcome everyone all of the local officials, all of our our executives within our company to our first grand opening day.

We are really grateful for this opportunity that burlington is giving us, but, more importantly, we really hope it's the start of a partnership. You guys know we're just around the corner and we really look to those community partners to help support our students and our teachers so that we can continue to do an excellent job. We thank you so much. The teachers already have plans for how they will use it with the adopt, a classroom and trust us. It will go far and you will see the benefit with the students.

First, I'm super excited the major chain organization that have come within our community here: west ashley uh to service.

Our community has also partnered with our schools uh in the district in which we serve, and they have went above and beyond and engaging in adopting a classroom that has been super exciting and very supportive uh for our teachers, because this type of uh contributions that they have made to us an amount of five thousand dollars towards stoner park, elementary school really excites our teachers and our staff, because it gives them additives supplies that they can use to help engage their learning environment for our students.

So I'm excited about this collaboration that has taken place and super excited about what is yet to come.

We have been fortunate at sono park that we have a lot of school community partners and we're looking forward to adding burlington to that list. It means a lot to our teachers and to our kids to have the supplies and materials that they need.

One of the greatest investments that we can make in our society is to our children so to learn that burlington has made such an investment to the greatest resource we have is you know words can't describe how appreciative we are to that.
