E
Good
morning,
ladies
and
gentlemen,
on
this
fourth
day
of
june,
I
would
like
to
hold
hardly
welcome
the
parents,
friends,
families,
supporters,
teachers,
staff
and
honor
guests,
along
with
the
graduating
class
of
2022,
to
come
together
and
celebrate
this
new
accomplishment
through
thick
and
thin
in
the
highs
and
lows,
we
made
many
loving
memories
and
bonds
with
each
other.
We
have
made
it
to
the
97th
commencement
of
north
charleston
high
school,
which
marks
the
ending
of
one
chapter
in
the
beginning
of
the
next.
E
To
my
classmates,
please
remember:
succeeding
in
life
is
as
simple
as
being
a
good
student.
All
you
have
to
do
is
pay
attention
work
hard
and
give
it
your
best
shot.
I
am
honored
to
share
this
moment
in
life
with
you
all
now,
if
I
may
ask
for
you
all
to
turn
off
all
your
electronic
devices
and
respect
your
celebration.
E
E
F
Let
us
all
bow
our
heads
for
the
invocation
heavenly
father,
give
grace
and
courage
to
the
graduates
who
have
worked
hard
to
reach
this
milestone
in
our
lives
bless
us.
We
hope
so
that
we
move
into
the
future
with
eager
and
open
hearts
healthy
graduates
to
put
the
knowledge,
skills
and
insights
gained
through
our
education
to
use
for
the
good
of
all
humankind,
inspire
us
to
believe
in
the
goodness
of
life,
even
when
faced
with
challenge
and
difficulties
continue
to
bless
the
graduates
with
love
protection,
mercy,
estranged
and
wisdom
in
your
mighty
name.
G
I
want
to
thank
our
district
leadership
team
and
introduce
you
to
some
very
important
people
who
have
given
unconditional
support
to
north
charleston
high
school
and
today's
graduating
seniors.
Without
these
leaders,
none
of
this
would
be
possible
today.
The
members
of
our
district
leadership
team
who
are
with
us
today
are
mr
donald
kennedy.
Interim
superintendent
of
schools.
G
G
The
administrative
team,
student,
counseling
services
classified
staff,
students
and
all
other
on-site
and
community
stakeholders.
We
give
honor
to
north
charleston
high
school
teachers
and
the
marvelous
work
they
have
accomplished
throughout
the
years
with
all
teachers.
Please
stand
and
be
recognized
at
this
time.
G
Thank
you
for
your
marvelous
work.
Secondly,
I
am
going
to
succinctly
list
some
of
the
successes
of
north
charleston,
high
school
faculty
and
staff.
North
charleston
high
school
doubled
its
students
participation
with
an
honors
and
dual
enrollment
offerings
in
terms
of
equity
of
the
hispanic
community.
G
G
G
G
G
G
G
G
And
finally,
I
would
be
absolutely
remiss
if
I
were
to
omit
the
personality
who
structured
the
idea
of
the
school
of
innovation
into
the
reality,
as
the
school
of
innovation
did
not
simply
spring
forth.
From
the
head
of
some
philosophical
zeus,
it
came
forth
from
the
arduous
and
fantastic
work
of
mr
trevor
strongman
executive
director,
who
has
experience
and
a
history
of
turning
around
troubled
schools,
who's
helping
to
guide
north
charleston
high
school
through
some
of
the
most
turbulent
stormy
and
troubled
waters
to
the
shores
of
greater
academic
success.
G
Sir,
thank
you
for
the
continued
resources
that
north
charleston
may
be
a
star
in
your
crown,
during
your
tenure
of
leadership
and
to
reverend
dr
mack
and
all
school
board
members,
including
those
of
the
constituent
school
board.
North
charleston,
high
school,
looks
forward
to
your
extended
support,
because
when
you
help
north
charleston
high
school
students
you're
helping
yourself
in
the
process.
Thank
you
so
very
much.
H
H
H
After
graduation
kamar
plans
to
continue
her
education
at
the
wonderful
north
carolina
agricultural
and
technical
state
university,
we
should
be
majoring
in
pre-nursing
to
become
a
certified
registered
nurse
aenesius.
At
this
time.
Please
welcome
interim
superintendent
donald
kennedy
to
the
podium
for
the
presentation
of
the
resin
award
to
salutarian
kumar
hosie.
I
2022
graduates,
we
did
it
today
we
recognize
our
accomplishments.
We
should
all
be
proud
of
ourselves
for
being
high
school
graduates.
However,
I'm
here
to
tell
you
today
is
when
the
real
work
begins.
Our
future
success
will
be
determined
by
our
abilities.
Willpower,
sacrifice,
perseverance
and
hard
work.
Change
is
both
exhilarating
and
scary.
At
times
we
have,
we
have
had
parents,
grandparents
and
family
and
teachers
here
to
guide
us
the
last
four
years
now
as
young
adults,
we
must
continue
on
our
own.
I
I
The
class
of
2022
has
had
some
difficult
obstacles.
Cobra
was
a
turning
point
for
the
class
of
20-22.
It
taught
us
that
time
does
not
wait
on
anyone
and
force
us
to
be
disciplined
through
online
classes.
It
also
taught
us
that
we
can
achieve
greatness.
Despite
our
circumstance,
frederick
douglass
learned
to
write
in
the
dirt
and
became
a
equivocate
writer
and
abolished
abolitionist
martin
luther
king
jr
was
jailed
for
standing
up
for
equality
and
conquered
segregation.
I
I
Ms
roosevelt
beckons
us
to
recognize
the
visuals
of
our
dreams.
We
can
make
our
dreams
come
true.
We
have
all
heard
the
quote.
Good
things
come
to
those
who
wait,
but
I'm
not
going
to
be
stagnant.
Instead,
I
will
follow
the
words
of
madam
cj
walker.
Don't
sit
and
wait
for
opportunities
to
come,
get
up
and
make
them.
I
Lastly,
I
would
like
to
give
a
special
thanks
to
mr
pearson,
ms
johnson
and
mr
meds,
for
believing
in
me
and
all
my
crazy
dreams,
I
believe
in
dreams,
and
I
strive
to
become
the
best
version
of
myself.
I
implore
all
you
to
do
the
same.
Remember
we
hold
the
future
in
our
hands.
Thank
you.
No

Good
morning,
honored
guests,
family,
friends,
faculty
and
staff
and
fellow
graduates
welcome
to
the
north
charleston
commencement
ceremony
of
the
class
of
2022.
Thank
you
for
accompanying
us
on
this
momentous
occasion
around
this
time.
Last
year
I
was
a
part
of
the
junior
mart
show,
and
now
I
stand
before
you
honored
as
north
charleston
high
school
class
of
2022
valedictorian.
L
L
L
My
parents
aren't
the
only
ones
who
help
me
with
my
education
and
high
school
career.
The
one
look
for
teachers
at
north
charleston
high
school
are
some
of
the
best
teachers
I've
ever
had.
I
would
like
to
give
special
thanks
to
mr
jessen,
who
would
do
anything
for
his
students
and
for
teaching
me
about
the
importance
of
scarcity,
ms
burns,
who
always
has
something
motivational
to
say,
mr
edwards,
who
taught
me
about
not
being
a
single
story
and
mr
canauer,
who
taught
me
about
people
who
are
dead
and
why
they
are
important
to
this
day.
L
L
We
have
faced
so
many
obstacles
and
tried.
Many
new
things
together
being
in
high
school
during
pandemic
was
not
easy.
We
had
to
learn
how
to
navigate
through
a
new
way
of
learning.
We
had
to
sacrifice
a
typical
experience
we
should
have
had
as
teenagers.
It
is
a
great
accomplishment
accomplishment
that
we
got
through
it.
Future
generations
will
read
about
these
events
and
wonder
how
did
they
do
it?
This
is
the
end
of
a
chapter,
but
also
the
beginning
of
a
new
one.
We
will
go
our
separate
ways
and
achieve
our
own
goals.
L
L
Whichever
path
you
choose,
I
know
that
you
guys
will
accomplish
your
goals.
It
won't
be
easy,
but
nothing
in
life
is
easy.
Life
is
a
journey.
We
will
face
obstacles.
We
will
have
moments
where
we
feel
like
giving
up,
but
promise
yourself
that
you
won't
give
up
in
two
months.
We
won't
have
our
regular
annual
schedule
of
going
back
to
north
charleston
high
school
after
today.
Our
journey
will
begin.
We
are
the
writers
of
our
new
chapter,
we
are
the
future
of
the
generation
and
I
know
that
we
will
accomplish
more
milestones
in
the
future.
L
M
Every
year
the
graduating
class
presents
a
class
gift,
the
gift
could
have
multiple
meanings.
This
collective
gift
serves
as
a
show
of
appreciation
for
the
people
and
programs
that
help
shape
us.
The
gift
also
helps
remind
us
of
our
potential
for
a
contribution
to
the
students
who
come
after
us,
like
the
countless
alumni
and
friends
who
have
graduated
and
continue
to
come
back
and
offer
us
wisdom
and
guidance.

Q
Q
Dr
joseph
williams
is
a
23
year
professional
educator,
who
does
not
prefer
to
be
called
a
veteran
because
he
feels
he
is
a
work
in
progress
and
learns
something
new
to
better
himself.
Every
day
he
is
a
native
of
north
charleston,
south
carolina
and
attended
charleston
county
public
schools
graduating
from
north
charleston
high
school
in
1991..
Q
Immediately
after
high
school,
dr
williams
joined
the
us
army
and
served
as
a
medical
specialist
until
1995.,
while
in
the
military
he
served
in
both
combat
and
medical
settings
in
1995,
he
started
his
matriculation
through
higher
learning
enrolling
at
south
carolina
state
university,
where
he
graduated
with
honors
in
1988
with
a
degree
in
biology
and
general
science
education
in
1999.
He
pursued
his
degree
in
council
education
again
graduating
with
honors
in
2001.
Q
Q
He
has
served
as
a
teacher
and
assistant
principal
a
principal
and
executive
director
and
now
serves
as
the
associate
superintendent
of
middle
schools
and
ccsd.
His
23-year
tinder
in
orangeburg
and
charleston
counties
has
influenced
his
philosophy
of
education.
All
children
can
learn
if
given
the
opportunity
and
support
systems
needed.
Q
Dr
williams
is
seasoned
beyond
his
chronicle
age
in
terms
of
the
academic
sagacity
he
invested
and
shares.
He
is
gives
a
willing
hand
whenever
and
wherever
asked
he
is
dependable,
helpful
towards
parents,
teachers,
students
in
the
community,
and
he
has
someone
who
has
not
forgotten
the
community
which
helped
him
to
become
successful
in
his
life's
endeavors.
Q
R
That's
more
like
it
so
again,
I'm
so
honored
to
have
this
opportunity
to
be
with
all
of
you
this
morning.
I
view
an
opportunity
like
this
as
a
time
for
us
to
communicate
and
what
it
means
is
that
I
will
not
sit
here
and
talk
at
you,
but
instead
speak
with
you
communicate
many
times.
Graduating
classes
hear
speeches
that
are
relevant
but
not
relevant.
R
What
I
mean
by
this
is
individuals
who
speak
have
really
important
things
to
say
that
may
impact
your
lives,
but
they
really
aren't
things
you
can
relate
to,
because
these
things
may
inspire
all
of
the
adults
in
this
audience
to
clap
and
make
noise.
But
then
you're,
looking
at
us,
like
I've,
heard
all
of
that
before
so.
R
R
So
what
makes
me
a
bit
different
from
many
of
the
speakers
that
you
made
that
may
have
stood
before
you
and
the
many
other
graduating
cooking
classes
in
the
past?
Is
I
know
you-
and
you
know
me
what
I
mean
by
this-
is
even
though
we
don't
actually
know
each
other.
I
know
many
of
your
experiences
and
everything
you
had
to
go
through
to
get
to
this
point,
and
for
that
I
am
extremely
proud
of
you.
R
So
I'm
pretty
sure
you're
starting
to
think
I
sound
like
the
typical
commencement
speech
speaker
right
and
I
promise
I
would
attempt
to
make
this
relevant.
So
I
want
to
be
a
man
of
my
word
and
true
to
my
commitments.
Many
individuals
who
know
me
know
that
I
love
music,
music
bridges.
Many
gaps
when
there
is
a
lack
of
communication.
R
R
R
See
I
know
many
of
you
may
have
heard
this
song,
but
there
was
a
subliminal
message
that
you
probably
did
not
catch
an
actual
good
thing
that
he
was
trying
to
say
when
he
spit
those
two
lines
see.
If
my
past
spoke
to
my
future,
I
would
not
and
should
not
have
graduated
from
high
school
joined
the
military
or
gone
to
college.
R
Thank
you,
so
you
don't
have
to
repeat
that.
So,
while
you
see
me
standing
here
with
my
title
and
my
position,
you
are
probably
thinking
I
did
everything
and
right
life
right,
don't
you
well,
I
didn't
in
the
words
of
tupac
shakur,
I
make
mistakes
but
learn
from
everyone
and
when
it's
said
and
done,
I
bet
this
brother
be
a
better
one.
We
learn
from
our
mistakes.
R
I
do
this
because
I
know
I'm
not
always
going
to
get
everything
right,
but
I
am
also
humble
see
that
word
came
up
again
to
acknowledge
and
do
something
to
make
it
better.
So
when
we
make
mistakes,
we
need
for
people
to
understand
that
yeah.
We
made
a
mistake,
but
we
all
do
and
where
I
am
from,
doesn't
make
my
mistakes
any
different
from
yours
repeat
after
me
I
will
make
mistakes,
but
I
am
a
work
in
progress.
R
So
to
build
upon
this
whole
idea
of
self-reflecting
from
tupac,
I
will
keep
it
real.
That's
an
old-school
term,
young
people,
keeping
it
real
and
that
I
do
realize
that,
sometimes,
when
we
make
these
mistakes,
we
feel
as
though
we
failed,
like
we've
disappointed
so
many
others
that
are
depending
on
us.
We
come
from
communities
that
are
villages,
and,
while
some
of
us
make
it
out
and
graduate
and
go
to
college,
join
the
military
get
good
jobs.
R
Many
of
us
don't
so
there's
always
that
pressure
to
do
our
best
to
represent
everyone.
Well,
I'm
here
to
tell
you
all:
let
it
go,
let
it
go
young
people
in
the
words
of
kendrick
lamar.
They
layered
me
up
then
broke
me
down,
but
this
time
around,
I
trust
myself,
please
everybody
else,
but
myself
all
else
fails.
I
was
myself,
be
yourselves
young
people.
R
After
all,
our
reality
is
that
we
are
judged
more
harshly
for
doing
so
than
others.
Don't
do
this
to
yourself,
because
the
truth
is
that
the
people
who
love
you
will
always
love
you.
You
don't
have
anything
to
prove
to
us
and
you
definitely
don't
have
anything
to
prove
to
the
haters
who
don't
know
who
you
are
your
mom
loves
you,
regardless
your
dad
loves
you
regardless
your
family
loves
you
regardless.
Mr
darby
loves
you
regardless,
your
north
charleston
high
school
staff
loves
you
regardless,
and
I
love
you
regardless
trust
yourself.
R
R
All
else
fails.
I
was
myself,
I
love
myself.
I
love
myself,
oh
yeah,
so
I'm
almost
done,
but
I
have
one
other
thing.
I
would
like
to
communicate
with
you
about,
and
that
is
knowing
who
you
are,
despite
what
anyone
else
tells
you
or
tries
to
make
you
believe
in
the
words
of
kanye
west,
I'm
a
creative
genius
and
there's
no
other
way
to
word
it.
He
says
this
with
so
much
confidence.
R
R
That's
why
I
want
you
to
understand
today.
Being
a
genius
is
not
always
about
being
the
smartest
person
in
the
room
or
even
trying
to
show
that
you
are,
which
is
what
a
lot
of
people
like
to
do
being
a
genius
is
knowing
you
are
good
at
something
anything
and
owning
it
and
not
letting
letting
anyone
else
tell
you
otherwise
be
confident.
Word
comes
up
again.
Let
your
actions
speak
more
for
your
abilities
than
a
lot
of
talking.
R
R
R
Many
of
you
will
not
remember
one
word
of
what
I
said
this
morning
and
that's
okay.
If
I
can
be
honest,
the
truth
is
I
really
don't
remember
anything
that
my
commencement
speaker
said
to
me
either.
But
if
you
record
this,
you
can
always
have
it
and
don't
worry
you
will
not
get
a
referral.
Are
your
phones
taken
away
right,
mr
darpan?
Okay,
so
pick
your
phones
up
for
me
right
now,
young
scholars-
and
I
want
you
to
hear
this
last
piece,
I'm
going
to
say
to
you.
R
R
G
Ladies
and
gentlemen,
ladies
and
gentlemen,
dr
williams,
thank
you
for
a
very
provocative
and
thought-provoking
speech.
Thank
you
so
very
much,
and
I'm
saying
this
with
all
honesty
when
I
attend
meetings
at
the
at
the
district
office
and
we
have
to
introduce
ourselves
because
I
love
and
emulate
and
want
to
emulate
the
men
so
badly
that
I
said
my
name
is
dr
joseph
williams
too.
So
that's
how
much
I
really
appreciate
dr
williams.
G
