Class

2022,
you
are
the
reason
we
are
all
here
today
and
in
just
a
few
moments,
we'll
begin
celebrating
your
outstanding
achievements,
but
I'd
first
like
to
recognize
all
of
those
who
are
joining
us
in
this
celebration
for
this
important
milestone
in
your
life,
starting
with
the
parents,
grandparents,
family,
members,
friends
in
the
stands.
Thank
you.
C
Thank
you
for
not
only
allowing
us
to
teach
your
children
and
be
a
part
of
their
lives,
but
for
your
support
and
partnership
in
making
west

high
school,
our
community
high
school
this
day
has
been
made
possible
to
the
love,
support
and
guidance
that
you
have
provided
to
these
incredible
students.
So
graduates.
If
you
would
please
stand
and
join
me
in
showing
your
appreciation
for
those
that
are
here
supporting
you
today,.
C
C
West
ashley
high
school
is
the
first
high
school
in
charleston
county
school
district
to
graduate
this
season,
so
I
am
very,
very,
very
honored
to
have
so
many
of
our
board
and
district
representatives
here
this
morning.
So
I'd
like
to
begin
to
welcome
our
distinguished
guests,
beginning
with
our
district's
senior
leadership,
each
of
whom
has
played
a
vital
role
in
our
school's
success.

C
C
C
C
This
dedicated
group
of
leaders
has
worked
tirelessly
to
not
only
maintain
the
daily
operations
of
our
expansive
campus,
but
to
also
serve
as
the
educational
leaders
necessary
to
turn
west
ashley
high
school
into
what
I
consider
to
be
the
best
high
school
in
the
low
country.
Please
give
them
all
a
round
of
applause.
C
C
C
Finally,
I'm
three
minutes
into
this
speech
and
I
finally
get
to
you
guys,
most
importantly
to
you,
the
class
of
2020,
to
do
today.
We
celebrate
you
and
your
accomplishments.
Just
a
few
moments
ago,
you
walked
in
as
a
unified
group,
as
your
friends
and
family
cheered
in
your
honor.
The
intensity
of
emotions.
Filling
this
arena
at
this
very
moment
in
time
is
something
I
hope
all
of
you
hold
in
your
hearts
and
cherish
forever.
C
C
C
Armed
with
these
essential
life
skills
and
the
knowledge
that
you've
attained
at
west
ashley
over
the
last
12
years
in
middle
school
and
elementary,
I
feel
confident
that
you
will
eagerly
tackle
the
next
phase
of
your
lives,
whatever
it
may
be,
for
some
college
or
technical
school
will
be
your
next
stop.
Some
are
heading
straight
into
the
workforce.
C
C
F
F
You
have
persevered
and
are
now
ready
to
begin
the
next
chapter
of
your
lives,
whether
it
is
going
off
to
college
into
the
military
workforce
or
taking
some
time
for
yourself
as
you
prepare
for
the
next
chapter.
Remember
it
took
your
perseverance
to
get
you
through
high
school
and
you
will
need
to
persevere
through
many
through
the
many
tests.
Life
will
throw
your
way
on
your
path
to
success.
F
F
You
got
there,
you
persevered
you
continue
to
persevere
despite
it
all
as
covet,
forced
us
to
think
differently
and
learn
differently,
which
created
additional
challenges
for
us
all
graduates.
You
did
not
let
up
completely,
but
you
moved
forward
with
your
educational
goals
and
personal
goals
because
you
were
determined.
F
F
You
created
a
nurturing
environment
among
your
peers
within
your
classrooms,
as
well
as
within
selected
clubs
and
organizations
on
your
sports
teams
and
or
with
your
teachers,
for
that
you
have
left
your
mark
here
at
west
ashley
high
school
as
change
agents
who
weathered
the
storms
during
your
high
school
career,
whether
you
realize
it
or
not,
you
helped
one
another
encouraged
each
other
cried
with
one.
Another
aired
out
your
frustrations
to
one
another,
but
you
found
your
way
back
to
regain
your
focus
and
are
sitting
here
today
at
your
high
school
graduation,
that's
perseverance.
F
You've
made
an
impact
on
me
through
your
knowledge,
character
and
humor,
and
you
invited
me
into
your
space
sharing
good
things
and
not
so
good
things,
but
with
an
understanding
that
when
we
face
any
adversity
or
a
hardship,
it
makes
us
stronger,
though
it
may
not
seem
so
at
the
time.
Yet
it
is
because
you
continue
to
persevere
as
I
was
thinking
about
the
words
of
wisdom
that
I
would
like
to
leave
with
you.
F
F
F
F
You
are
divinely
designed
and
perfectly
made
for
the
work
of
mankind.
This
truth,
you
must
cling
to
through
danger
and
pain
the
heights
others
have
reached.
You
can
also
attain
believe
to
the
very
last
hour,
for
it
is
true
that,
whatever
you
will
you've
been
gifted
to
do.
Congratulations:
class
of
2022.

H
Good
morning,
parents,
teachers,
friends,
family
and
my
fellow
graduates,
it
is
an
honor
to
stand
before
you
today,
honestly,
I'm
a
little
nervous
as
public
speaking
has
never
been
my
strong
suit.
I
want
to
start
off
with
a
big
thank
you
to
the
faculty
and
staff
at
west
ashley
high
school
throughout
our
four
years.
We
face
many
challenges,
but
all
of
you
have
been
nothing
but
supportive
and
encouraging.
H
Additionally,
I
think
I
speak
for
all
the
graduates
today
when
I
say
thank
you
to
our
friends
and
families
for
helping
us
reach
this
momentous
occasion
for
the
past
four
years.
You've
helped
us
become
the
people
we
are
today
and
looking
around
at
all
my
peers.
I
know
we
are
going
to
do
amazing
things.
H
Lastly,
I
would
like
to
extend
a
special
thank
you
to
a
few
teachers
who
I
know
have
made
a
huge
impact
on
not
only
me
but
a
multitude
of
other
students
as
well.
Miss
ancona
mr
ludwig
and
miss
fonseca
teaching,
tastes,
passions,
patience
and
empathy,
and
I
for
one
think
you
all
excel
in
all
of
those
categories
and
now
a
huge
congratulations
to
the
class
of
2022.
H
Some
people
take
this
opportunity
to
brag
about
themselves
and
their
own
accomplishments,
but
I
would
like
to
take
this
time
to
highlight
the
accomplishments
of
the
entire
senior
class
first,
let
me
start
out
by
saying
wow.
We
have
accomplished
so
much
at
our
senior
awards
ceremony.
Mr
comeback
announced
that
our
class
has
the
highest
graduation
rate
of
any
class
in
the
school's
history.
H
The
last
couple
bragging
points
I'd
like
to
mention
this
morning
are
that
we
have
a
total
of
176
cte,
completers,
70,
board
scholars
and
five
military
enlistees.
Our
class
of
2022
has
definitely
left
its
mark
on
west
ashley
high
and
now
I'd
like
to
offer
my
thoughts
about
graduating
today.
This
moment
is
surreal
to
me,
as
I
am
sure
it
is
for
many
of
my
fellow
graduates
it
feels
like.
Just
yesterday,
we
were
sophomores
excited
to
have
a
break
from
school
back
in
march
of
2020.
H
H
My
heart
goes
out
to
those
families,
as
we
honor
them
by
celebrating
our
accomplishments
and
living
our
lives
in
a
way
that
would
make
them
proud
moving
forward,
as
our
world
becomes
somewhat
normal
again.
I
hope
we
can
all
focus
on
the
good
that
came
from
the
struggles
we
endured
during
the
past
few
years.
H
H
I'm
sure
that
many
of
you
made
similar
realizations,
or
maybe
you
made
some
completely
different.
I
hope
that,
as
we
move
forward
into
the
next
chapter
of
our
lives,
we
can
all
find
the
good
in
every
bad
situation
and
again
I'd
like
to
congratulate
my
peers,
because
today,
two
years
later,
our
class
has
accomplished
so
many
incredible
things.

his
time
at

and
is
a
cte
completer
in
the
pltw
pre-engineering
career
pathway.
A
O
O
Over
these
past
four
years,
we
have
seen
even
more
of
these
changes
than
almost
any
other
class
before
us.
Most
of
us
most
of
our
first
two
years
were
business
as
usual,
but
at
the
end
of
our
sophomore
year
everything
changed
as
the
pandemic
began.
Our
lives
took
a
drastic
turn,
as
school
switched
to
virtual
learning
and
platforms
like
zoom
became
our
virtual
reality.
However,
we
adapted,
we
also
saw
others
around
us
struggle
to
find
a
new
normal,
including
our
teachers,
to
find
alternative
ways
to
keep
us
connected,
engaged
and
entertained.
O
Some
embrace
this
new
relaxed
atmosphere
leading
to
things
such
as
the
growth
of
massive
beards
like
a
new
coach
blake,
as
well
as
students
forgetting
to
mute
their
mics
or
pets
blocking
cameras.
I
particularly
enjoyed
someone
dressing
up
like
dwight,
schrute,
nametag
and
all
with
the
background
scene
from
the
office
we
found
humor
in
even
the
darkest
of
times
and
again
we
adapted.
O
Then,
in
the
beginning
of
our
junior
year,
some
of
us
chose
to
return
to
the
classroom.
I
know
I
have
both
decided
to
do
so.
After
attempting
two
stressful
weeks
of
online
classes,
during
which
my
monitor
stopped
working,
I
joined
the
wrong
zooms
regularly
and
I
compared
his
best
impression
of
a
nuclear
meltdown
like
I'm
completely
serious,
almost
caught
on
fire.
O
Upon
my
return,
I
quickly
realized
that
nothing
was
as
it
once
was.
We
had
one-way
halls,
plexiglas
dividers
and
teachers
juggling
both
virtual
and
in-person
instruction.
Then.
Finally,
we
were
fortunate
enough
to
all
return
together,
a
little
battered
and
torn
but
united.
We
made
it
through.
We
adapted.
O
So
here
we
are
the
first
graduating
class
in
three
years
to
have
both
the
traditional
prom
and
graduation.
We
are
starting
fresh
and
creating
new
traditions,
while
embracing
old
ones.
We've
won
competitions
in
everything
from
golf
to
speech
and
debate
to
band.
Of
course,
my
personal
favorite
robotics,
I'm
nerd,
guys.
Surprise.
O
Our
classmates
have
become
leaders
through
programs
like
the
student
ambassadors,
national
honor
society
and
deca
we've
made
our
mark,
and
it
is
clear
that
so
many
of
us
will
continue
to
make
a
positive
impact
on
that.
I'd
like
to
wrap
up
with
a
simple
quote
from
fellow
valedictorian
conan
o'brien,
who
said
work
hard,
be
kind
and
amazing
things
will
happen.
Congratulations,
class
of
2022.

We're
going
to
now
begin
the
awarding
of
diplomas,
mr
anthony
ludwig,
our
social
studies
department
chair,
has
graciously
agreed
to
read
all
of
the
graduates
names
today
seniors.
Please
remember:
to
bring
your
name
card
to
the
stage
with
you
and
parents.
This
is
parents,
family
members,
grandparents.
This
is
obviously
a
very
very
important
day
for
many
of
us
in
this
room,
and
so
please
celebrate
your
graduate
as
they
come
across
the
stage,
but
also
be
mindful
that
all
the
parents
want
to
hear
their
son
and
daughter's
names
read.
So
with
that.

on
the
on
the
line
for
just
a
few
more
minutes.
Before
making
this
official.
I
would
like
to
thank
several
individuals
who,
along
with
members
of
our
administrative
team
in
our
district's
operations,
division,
made
everything
that
you
see
here
today
possible.
