As part of Charleston County School District's Capital Programs/Facilities Management media tour on August 5, 2022, Edith L. Frierson Elementary School's principal, Dr. Deborah Davis-Cummings, and CCSD's Interim Associate of Facilities Management, Steve Hamer, spoke about the renovation project at the school. All of the classrooms inside the building have been converted to Montessori classrooms over a three-year period.

Burlington Stores, the national discount retailer, hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for their new store in the St. Andrew’s Shopping Center in West Ashley. As part of the celebration, Stono Park Elementary School received a $5,000 donation from Burlington as part of their partnership with the national non-profit organization AdoptAClassroom.org, which will go to the school’s teachers for classroom supplies.

Stono Park's principal, Kimberly Richards, staff from the school, Charleston County School District’s (CCSD) Board of Trustees Chair, Rev. Dr. Eric Mack, Constituent District 10 Board Chair Rodney Lewis, City of Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg, Charleston City Councilman Ross Appel, and CCSD representatives are all participated in the ceremony.

JBE's occupational therapist made videos showcasing each of their children who have Down Syndrome. They raised almost $800 for Down Syndrome. This experience was the epitome of James B. Edwards's leadership principle- "We respect others... Our differences are what make us unique!
