From YouTube: James B. Edwards Celebrates World Down Syndrome Day

JBE's occupational therapist made videos showcasing each of their children who have Down Syndrome. They raised almost $800 for Down Syndrome. This experience was the epitome of James B. Edwards's leadership principle- "We respect others... Our differences are what make us unique!

James b edwards elementary creating global leaders locally. It has been an amazing and fun week here at jbe learning all the things about down syndrome, including spotlighting, some of our very own superstars. Amongst our walls and, of course, ending with an early friday morning, dance party filled with banners and balloons.

We met addie girl, anna banana master, beau and future mayor lucille. It has been awesome to witness the outpouring of love, kindness and acceptance through morning lessons videos and interactions.

A

We learned that, regardless of if we have that extra silly 21st chromosome, we will all have similarities and differences amongst our classmates. Our differences are what make us unique.

A

We may like some of the same foods or love to dance to some of the same music. However, we may have a different favorite, color or even style of clothing, including our crazy socks, but in the end we are all human.

A

We are all unique and we are all special in our very own way, including our precious addie, anna beau and lucille.

A

You may love to read books, eat, dance or even ride the school bus, just like.

A

Maybe you were more like beau and love all animals or listening to bruno mars, taylor, swift and pink. You could also be like anna and love to play with your brother and sister, or your favorite. Song may even be abc by the jackson. Five, maybe you're more like lucille and your favorite snack is cheese.

You love, arts and crafts, or even have a rescue golden retriever. So remember just because someone may look different or need a little extra help. It doesn't mean we can't connect over the week. You demonstrated skills of leadership and friendship within the school community.

You thought a little harder. You reached a little further and you included a little bit closer.

A

We came together to celebrate differences and raise awareness, and we raised big all those crazy socks and giving hearts raised close to 800 that we as a jbe community, will donate to lowcountry down syndrome association way to go egrets. We are so proud of you.

You have provided authentic, challenging creative learning experiences in a supportive and engaging environment that has enabled you to develop as global leaders with strong character ready to serve your community.
