A
A
I
decided
to
embark
on
a
career
here
in
south
carolina.
My
mom
is
a
native
of
the
area
she's
a
native
of
charleston.
My
dad
is
a
native
of
cottage
north
carolina,
so
I
had
familiarity
with
the
area
for
the
past
nine
years
I
served
as
assistant
principal
at
the
charleston
county
school
of
the
arts.
I
had
a
fabulous
time
there.
A
A
To
be
honest,
I
didn't
choose
education,
education
chose
me
and
I'll
explain.
While
in
college
I
was
working
at
a
brokerage
firm,
downtown
manhattan.
I
believe
it
was
merrill
lynch
and
while
there
I
I
I
wasn't
fulfilled,
I
didn't
enjoy
it.
I
was
working,
but
I
wasn't
passionate
about
what
I
was
doing
and
my
mother,
who
is
a
career
educator,
taught
in
the
classroom
for
30
years
at
the
time,
suggested,
rob
why
don't
you
sub
for
a
bit
see
if
you
like
it
and
I
was
like
I
don't
think
so.
A
I
don't
think
that's
what
I
want
to
do,
but
with
a
little
enticement
I
decided
to
give
it
a
try.
So,
while
in
the
classroom
substituting
I
actually
fell
in
love,
I
can't
even
remember
there
was
one
student
in
particular
who
came
to
me
one
time.
It
was
during
lunch
and
he
said
mr
grant.
I
got
to
be
honest.
A
I
didn't
like
school
until
I
had
you
as
an
instructor
and
I
looked
at
him
and
said
why
not
and
he
looked
back
at
me
and
he
said
man,
you
make
learning
fun
and
that's
when
I
realized
I
had
my
calling
and
I
knew
that
I
loved
impacting
the
lives
of
students.
Therefore
I
decided
to
stay
in
the
field
of
education
and
here
I
am.
A
I
tell
you
my
mentor
back
in
new
york
was
an
assistant
principal
by
the
name
of
jane
small
and
at
the
time
in
the
classroom
I
served
as
the
grade
level
rep
I
served
on
the
pbis
team.
I
served
as
a
coach,
I
was
doing
quite
a
bit
in
the
school
and
I
was
pretty
popular
teacher
at
the
time
I
was.
I
was
pretty
young
fresh
out
of
college
and
I
remember
one
time
she
came
into
my
classroom.
A
I
had
a
prep
and
she
mentioned
to
me
that
there
was
a
program
for
aspiring
assistant
principals
and
she
wanted
me
to
partake
and
at
the
time
I
looked
at
her,
and
I
said
ms
smalls
thank
you,
but
no
thank
you.
I
love
what
I'm
doing
here.
I
love
working
with
the
kids,
I
love
being
control
of
my
classroom
and
I
have
a
great
rapport
with
kids.
I
have
a
great
poor
parents,
it's
routine
and
I'm
comfortable.
A
She
looked
at
me
and
she
said:
rob
you
can
stay
in
your
classroom,
be
successful
and
impact
the
lives
of
the
150.
Kids,
that
you
see
daily
or
you
can
come
out
of
the
classroom,
become
an
administrator
and
impact
the
lives
of
the
1900
students
that
attend
this
school.
What
kind
of
leader
do
you
want
to
be?
After
reflection?
A
I
had
to
admit
you
know
what
I
can
impact
more
students
if
I
went
into
administration,
and
so
that
is
why
I
elected
to
follow
that
role.
I
could
sing
a
little
bit
I
enjoy
singing.
I
do
I
do.
Let
me
tell
you
now,
oh
baby,
give
me
one
more
chance.
Show
you
that
I
love
you.
Won't
you
please
take
me
back
in
your
heart.
Oh
darling.
I
was
blind
to
let
you
go,
let
you
go
baby
now,
since
I
seen
you
in
his
arms,
I
want
you
back.
Yes
I'll
do
now.
