we

gone

in
Chesterfield
County
since
then,

I
want

first
off
get

your
thoughts.
You
know,
Economic
Development
seems
to
be
a
little
bit
of
a
theme
through
these.
As
we've
done
these,
you
know
there
are
so
many
different
announcements
and
folks
haven't
seen
I'll,
give
it
another
plug
to
I
think
it
was
Episode
34
with
Garrett
Hart
that
we
recorded
the
end
of
2022
to
talk
about
sort
of
all
those
different
sort
of
projects
that
are
sort
of
in
the
pipeline.

Now
that
that
Chesterfield's
been
so
fortunate
to
to
bring
to
the
county
and
I
kind
of
want
to
get
your
opinion
on
it,
because
you
know
whether
it's
Lego
or
you
know
one
of
the
many
other
things
that
Garrett
and
Company
have
lined
up.
How
do
you
feel
like
these
really
impact
the
county
impact?
Your
District
impact,
the
big
picture,
not
just
you
know
in
the
short
term,
but
for
the
long
term
for
Chesterfield.
How
impactful
do
you
feel
like
those
Economic
Development
announcements,
especially
Lego,
are-
are
really
for
Chesterfield
I.

A
new
plant
right
I'm,
going
to
bring
you
1761
jobs
in
one
punch
right
that
you
automatically
think.
Oh,
my
goodness.
Well,
those
are
just
numbers
but
then
think
about
each
one
of
those
jobs
as
a
family
and
supporting
those
families,
and
then
those
families
making
other
Investments
either
in
your
homes
or
rental
properties
or
other
businesses
and
the
Ripple
effects
just
go
and
go
and
go
so.
Yes,
while
these
are
all
located
in
Meadowville
in
Mr,
Ingalls,
District
Bermuda,
they
have
Ripple
effects
not
only
throughout
the
county
throughout
the
region
and
throughout
the
state.

I
mean
there's.
No,
there's
no
question
that
this
was
not
only
the
number
one
deal
in
the
Commonwealth
last
year,
but
has
reported
the
number
one
deal
in
the
South
right
and
so
everyone
Economic
Development
directors,
Boards
of
Supervisors
Economic,
Development
Authority
members
from
around
the
south
from
around
the
country,
were
drooling
over
that
announcement
and
still
are
of.
A

You
know,
folks,
who
can
put
things
together
and
take
them
apart
and
and
ask
questions
and
write,
isn't
that
what
life
is
all
about
problem
solving
and
all
the
challenges
that
we
have
in
America
today
require
these
these
sorts
of
skills
and
so
they've
they've
reached
out
to
school
system.
We
have
tried
to
make
those
meetings
happen,
but
then
you
know
you
mentioned
civica,
which
is
the
pharmaceutical
plant
that
goes
going
into
Petersburg.
We
get
the
lab
in
Chesterfield,
and
then
you
know
plenty
of
course.
This.

Know
I'm
going
to
put
that
out
there,
but
but
but
all
of
these
things
are
are
going
to
have
those
similar
impacts,
and
so
yes
that
stretches
into
Clover
Hill
stretches
in
the
Midlothian.
It
stretches
into
Dale
and
and
Metallica
And.
So
I,
don't
know
how
we
can
say
it
other
than
these
jobs
and
these
opportunities
create
a
tax
base
for
the
county
that
we
will
feed
off
of
for
decades
and
decades.

Right
and
you've
got
the
mix
right
because
you
know
Lego
is
not
just
a
beloved
brand
the
world
over
you-
and
this
is
not
just
you
know
it's
not
just
that
this
is
their
first
plan
in
the
United
States
or
North
America.
It's
that
they're
also,
both
the
piece
of
the
the
the
the
tax
base,
the
revenue
that's
going
to
come
from
the
plant,
but
also
the
potential
jobs
that
are
going
to
be
created
here.
That,
obviously,
will
go.
You
know
in
in
large
part.
A
You
know
to
folks
who
are
looking
for
positions
exactly
like
that
right.
If
we
we
look
at
the
numbers,
we
look
at
the
statistics
of
kids
coming
out
of
you
know:
Public
Schools,
whether
that's
in
Chesterfield
or
wherever,
and
a
lot
of
those
kids
want
to
have
jobs
exactly
like
this
right.
They
want
to
come
out
of
college.
A
You
know
having
jobs
like
this
and
we
think
of
you
know
Advanced
manufacturing
positions
differently
in
the
in
in
this
day
and
age
than
we
did
in
the
old
days,
and
I
can
imagine
from
both
a
a
tax
revenue
piece
and,
in
terms
of
you,
know,
job
opportunities
and
growth
that
this
type
of
development
is
exactly.
The
kind
of
thing
is
you,
as
somebody
who
you
know,
sits
on
a
Board
of
Supervisors
cares
deeply
about
what
the
county
does
and
and
what
what
kind
of
future
the
county
has
I
mean.

Yeah
now
I
should
mention,
as
we
record
this,
it's
Friday
March,
the
31st.
As
we
record,
the
episode
is
scheduled
to
drop
on
Wednesday
the
12th,
which
is
the
day
before
the
planned
kind
of
groundbreaking
event
for
Lego.
It's
also
after
you,
you,
as
the
Board
of
Supervisors,
will
vote
formally
on
the
budget
and
the
CIP
and
the
tax
rate
and
all
that
fun
stuff.
A
What
is
to
us
at
least
next
week
and
I
kind
of
want
to
get
into
the
budget
a
little
bit,
I
want
to
mention
again
just
plug
episodes,
40
or
41
of
folks
talk
questions
about
it.
Obviously
you
had
a
chance.
All
of
you
have
on
the
board
have
had
a
chance
recently
to
have
your
community
meetings
on
the
budget
to
to
hear
from
folks-
and
it
seems
like
from
from
the
gist
is
that
a
lot
of
folks
have
questions
about
schools
and
about
funding
per
people.

So
we
know
we
have
to
add
capacity
and-
and
we've
been
working
very
hard
to
complete
the
last
Bond
referendum
to
to
add
additional
capacities,
build
new
schools
instead
of
just
rehabbing
old
schools,
and
that
decision
was
made-
and
that
was
another
100
million
dollars
and
and
really
had
a
key
impact.
But
as
we
look
ahead,
we
know
we
have
additional
capacities:
the
Tomahawk
Creek
Middle
School.
They
are
cutting
down
trees
for
as
we
speak
and
that's
out
there
in
the
upper
Magnolia
zoning
case
and
development
out
there.

Very
much
you
know,
anticipating
anticipating
the
opening
of
that
school,
and
so
you
do
have
you
have
this
this
sort
of
capital
component
and
then
you
have
the
labor
component
and
frankly,
if
you,
if
not
only
just
this
year.
But
if
you
look
at
the
last
several
years
of
budgets
in
Chesterfield
County,
it
has
been.
You
know
the
year
of
the
employee
times
three
as
we've
seen:
lots
of
people
exit
the
workplace
right
and
this
increased
competition
for
skilled
labor,
and
that
means
teachers.

Right
we've
seen
people
just
leave
their
profession
altogether
to
go.
Do
something
else.
Why?
Because
the
marketplace
has
responded
to
this,
this
labor
climate
in
a
big
way,
offering
big
bonuses
or
bigger
bigger
salaries,
and
so
we
want
to
be
competitive.
We
have
to
be
competitive.
We
have
an
obligation
to
provide
a
wonderful
school
system
to
our
students
and
families.
Here
in
Chesterfield
County.
We
want
to
do
that
same
thing
with
Public
Safety.
We
want
to
be
the
best
in
the
region.
What
does
that
mean?

It
means
leadership,
right
and
accountability,
and
so
you
have
a
lot
of
those
things
and
what
is
the
output
of
these
things
statistically
we're
doing
well
in
a
lot
of
categories,
and
we
want
to
make
sure
that
we
continue
to
stay
atop
of
teacher
pay.
We
are
number
one
among
counties
in
the
region
right
now.
We
want
to
make
sure
that
we
are
staying
on
top
of
Public
Safety
pay
because,
as
as
we
know,
we
have
sort
of
an
intramural
competition
with.

Right
you
mentioned
Public
Safety.
A
second
I
want
to
dig
into
that
for
a
second,
obviously,
there's
a
clear
commitment
in
the
you
know
that
funding
trajectory,
if
you
will
of
the
for
Public
Safety
the
last
few
years,
that
kind
of
speaks
to
the
County's
goals,
crime
rates
as
low
as
it's
you
know,
I
think
it's
the
lowest
in
the
region
right
now,
I
think
firing
EMS
is
with
this
budget
is
getting
to
the
sort
of
Staffing
goals
that
it's
sort
of
identified.

You
know
for
a
while,
and
obviously
there
were
I
mean
there
were
so
many
different
projects
in
the
bond
referendum.
The
past
last
fall
that
are
going
to
be
coming
out
of
the
ground
soon
on
that
front,
what
do
you
think
the
county
has
gotten
right
when
it
comes
to
Public
Safety
and
what
kind
of
challenges
do
you
think
remain
on
that
front?.

There's
an
accountable
way
to
do
it,
and
so
we
want
to
make
sure
that
we
are
right
there,
where
we
need
to
be
being
professional
but
also
being
accountable
and
the
last
Board
of
Supervisors.
My
last
term
we
funded
police
body,
worn
cameras
and
to
me
that
is
the
single
most
important
investment
in
public
safety
that
we've
seen
in
Generations.
Why?
Because
it
records
everything
right
and
all
of
the
interactions
and
allows
someone
who's
in
that
position
of
providing
accountability,
to
go
back
and
say:
okay.
Well,
this
was
done
correctly.

Will
change
your
perspective?
I?
Don't
care
who
you
are?
It
will
change
your
perspective
about
modern
day
policing
and
what
the
profession
is
up
against
so
anyway,
I
think
I
think
we're
doing
very
well
in
that
department,
with
with
fire
stations
coming
up
in
Magnolia,
green
and
most
recently
here
in
Midlothian.
Yes,
it
is
a
beautiful
station.
I
wanted
to
move
in.
It's.

Now
you
mentioned
footprint:
let's
talk
a
little
bit
about
Transportation.
This
budget
includes
something
that
I,
don't
I,
can't
remember,
seeing
which
is
the
locality
sort
of
funding
a
phase,
one
of
a
major
sort
of
project
and
there's
obviously
a
lot
more
to
Transportation,
not
just
in
terms
of
the
county,
but
in
the
bigger
picture
going
forward
than
just
this
one
budget,
but
there's,
obviously
lots
of
you
know
projects
in
the
pipeline
sort
of
across
the
county.

In
terms
of
you
know
where,
where
a
lot
of
the
activity
is,
but
you
know,
people
don't
realize
that
the
Virginia
Department
of
Transportation
controls
our
roads
in
Chesterfield
County.
We
are
the
second
largest
secondary
Road
system
in
the
Commonwealth
and
when
something
needs
to
be
fixed,
when
a
pothole
needs
to
be
patched
when
a
a
piece
of
pavement
comes
undone,
we
have
to
place
a
call
to
to
them.

And
it
is
in
the
process
of
being
permitted.
We
have
you
know
that
takes
some
time
with
with
environmental.
It
takes
some
time
with
VDOT
in
the
state,
but
you
know
I
think
we're
a
couple
of
years
out
from
having
that
fully
permitted.
We
have
it
partially
fun
funded,
and
so
we
have
a
plan
to
get
this
to
wool.

Ridge
we'll
have
a
diverging
diamond
interchange
at
Charter
colony
and
then
an
interchange
at
wool
Ridge,
and
so
you
will
be
able
to
connect
onto
bow
light
from
two
major
roads
and
you
know,
get
traffic
in
get
traffic
out
and
and
that's
what
people
want
they
want.
Interconnectivity.
It
just
makes
sense
to
do
that.
Let
me
mention
one
final
project
in
this
area
and
that
is
I
have
been
hammering
hammering
hammering
for
six
seven
years
since
we
started
working
on
the
lake
zoning
case
out
there.

The
street
from
River
City
sports
bikes
about
having
an
interchange
or
at
least
having
the
ability
to
get
off
of
288
and
onto
genito
west
there,
because
it
would
certainly
alleviate
some
some
traffic
on
288
in
the
in
the
evening
and
peak
hours
and
it
would
help
the
the
late
project
would
help
Points
West
people
just
trying
to
travel
that
area.
Finally,
we
have
have
gotten
the
nod
after
some
I
would
say:
intensive
lobbying.

Chairman
I,
don't
know
who
that
was,
but
we
we
finally
have
the
nod
from
the
Secretary
of
Transportation.
You
may
provide
us
with
an
interchange
modification
report
for
this
area,
which
is
the
first
step
right
in
in
getting
some
access
there.
We
have
the
right-of-way
for
that
ramp.
The
lake
developer
said
he
would
contribute
some
to
it,
and
so
this
is
something
that
just
needs
to
happen
and.

And
so
we
we've
revamped
their
track.
We
have
placed
lights
in
the
backfield
so
that
practices
football
practice
whatever
it
is,
can
go
on
into
the
evening
hours
now
and
made
a
lot
of
improvements
to
get
more
citizen
utility
out
of
certain
spaces
and
so
Swift
Creek
Middle
School
is
a
good
example
of
that.
With
the
track
facility
upgrades,
River,
City,
of
course,
the
bond
referendum.
You
saw
four
additional
Fields
get
added
to
that.
So
those
are
process
over
the
next
year.
We
are
completely
revamping
Clarendon,
Park,
okay,.

Is
a
a
smaller
pocket
park
in
the
neighborhood
of
Clarendon,
but
really
just
needed?
Some
love
and
I
went
out
there
and
said:
oh,
oh
my
so
we
we
are
putting
lots
of
effort
into
that
and
then
I
think.
The
next
is
switching
over
and
looking
at
Rockwood
and
trying
to
do
some
more
Rockwood
with
pickleball
and
some
other
sports
that
are
coming.

Not
only
in
medians
but
at
Swift
at
sorry,
River,
City
and
other
places
in
the
district,
so
we're
always
looking
for
places
to
put
trees
and
and
have
sort
of
a
tree
replacement
programs.
We
do
know
that,
as
as
some
development
come
goes
on,
we
we
do
have
an
obligation
to
keep
planting
right
and
that's
that's
what
we
want
to
do.
