communities
nowadays

boxes

if
there's
a
single
one
that
checks

boxes

library
does
in
this
day
and
age,
and
it's

it's
fascinating.
If
you
think
about
all
the
different
things
that
the
library
does
and
the
fact
that
we
haven't
had
anyone
from
libraries
on
the
show
yet
is
regrettable.

fix
that

I'm

just
fascinating
to
me
to
think
about

differences
between

way
libraries
used
to
be
the
way
we
used
to
see
them
the
ways
we
used
to
use
them
and
then
the
way
they
are
now
and
yeah.
It's
it's
kind
of
messed
up
right.
We
haven't
had.

before
we
move
on,
I
really
now
have
to
ask
you
so
when
you're
growing
up
and
you're
and
you're,
you
know
living
that
Library
life
and
you're
getting
that
start.
Did
you
ever
think
that
you
would
kind
of
continue
on
the
path
that
you
you
went
on,
or
was
that
sort
of
a
a
thing
that
sort
of
just
happened?
As
you
went,
that's.

They
don't
really
even
know
the
the
sort
of
degree
of
magnitude
of
the
resource
that
is
available
to
them.
In
you
know,
a
variety
of
different
ways,
talk
to

like
just
check
off
all
the
you
know,
every
single
location
and
such
but
I
I
think
it's
good
for
people
to
understand
sort
of
what
the
library
is
and
what
what
that
scope
is
like.

want
everyone
to
be
able
to
be
in
pretty
close
proximity
to
a
location.
They
don't
have
to
drive
all
over
the
county
right.
So
we've
got
the
10
locations,
the
and
you're
right
that
just
this
year,
volume
I,
don't
think
people
appreciate
I
mean
we
have
over
a
million
physical
checkouts
per
year.
That's
wow
a
million
and
that's
physical
books.

Books,
yeah
and
what's
interesting
too,
about
folks
who,
who
read
is,
is
a
lot
of
the
times.
You
hear
very
passionate
arguments
either
way,
but
the
fact
is
that
they
they
have.
The
arguments
which
is
a
great
sign
of,
like
you,
said
that
sort
of
constant
use
right,
whether
that's
the
the
the
electronic
version
or
the
the
hard
copy,
paperback
sort
of
situation.

I
knew-
and
you
know
along
the
way,
I
feel
like
I've
learned
a
lot
especially
doing
this
week
in
Chesterfield,
talk
to
me
about
sort
of
the
that
everyday
programming.
What
are
some
of
the
examples
of
the
kinds
of
things
that
you
guys
offer
kind
of
regularly
and
we'll
get
to
the
special
stuff
in
a
minute
but
I'm
thinking
like
just
your
your
standard
sort
of
Monday
through
Friday
or
through
the
weekend,
really
on
a
on
a
regular.
You
know
just
a
regular
Tuesday
that
kind
of
thing.

in
terms
of
the
the
different
things
that
you
offer
at
the
various
locations
are
some
of
those
things
kind
of
driven,
more
so
by
the
communities
that
those
libraries
are
in.
How
do
you
sort
of
decide
hey
this
works
well
for
these
libraries,
but
maybe
this
other
thing
works
better
for
these.
How
do
you
sort
of
balance
those
things
out
when
it
comes
to
a
to
a
network,
so
to
speak?

whole
system,
as
as
large
as
yours
is
yeah.

That's
a
great
question
too
I
think
we're
very
good
at
that.
It's
it's
one
of
our
strengths.
We
have
a
number
of
ways
of
doing
that,
so
we
pay
attention
to
kind
of
like
data
and
demographics
and
and
checkout
habits
and
program
attendance
habits
at
a
system
level,
and
then
we
kind
of
look
at
that
and
we
break
it
down,
we're
very
good
it
using
our
data,
but
then
we're
also
very
good
at
listening
to
our
branch
managers
at
the
locations
because
they're
the
ones
who
are
seeing
the
people
coming.

In
so
we're
very
thoughtful
about
it
now,
in
terms
of
saying
I
would
imagine
the
same
sort
of
thing
works
when
it
comes
to
that
special
programming.
So
you're
talking
about
the
different
series
of
authors,
you're
talking
about
sort
of
I,
know,
there's
like
a
lot
of
space
related
stuff
which,
as
a
kid
who
would
who
loved
space
like
I
mean
just
thinking
about
you,
know,
being
a
kid
who
had
those
resources
and
those
opportunities
is
just
awesome.

sort
of
these

of
special

coming
up
in
June
and
the
great
thing
is:
we
have
space
there.
We
have

beautiful

best-selling

coming

cool
and
people.
You
know
if
they
join
the
friends,
they
actually
get
to
go
to
a
pre
artist,
reception.

And
getting
that
book
signed
like
lines
are
out
the
door
all
the
time
yeah
I
can
totally
I
can

see
that
now,
in
terms
of
the
summer
learning
program,
I
know
that's
a
big
piece
for
you
guys,
especially
this
time
of
year.

summer
it
it.
It
might
not
feel
to
folks
who
are
listening.
This
I
mean
Summer's
going
to
be
here
soon.

It's
a
little
bit
a
little
chillier
this
spring,
but
summer
will
be
here
and
that
learning
program
is
essential
because
I
know
for
you
guys
the
idea
to
sort
of
you
know,
as
you
mentioned
earlier,
you're
not
trying
to
replace
the
schools.
What
you're
really
trying
to
do
is
just
kind
of
build
in
that
sort
of
Love,
of
learning
that
constant
desire
to
learn
and
that
that
building
that
sort
of
Summer
that
summer
piece
for
for
the
kids
to
sort
of
fill
that
Gap
right.

So
that's
what
the
summer
learning
program
really
is
all
about.
It's
just
again
getting
his
excited
about
reading
kind
of
challenging
them

little
bit.

having
it

regular
kind

thing,

in
more.
We
have
them
more
regularly
right.
There
are,
you
know,
challenges
in
terms
of
signing.

in
terms
of
it,
for

folks
who
are
watching
the
version
of
the

you
probably
have
seen
the

guessing,
that's
the

the

it's
been
like

watch
the
Library
really
blossom
into.

they
understand

lot

It's
not
just
like
books,
there's
like
databases,
there's
legal
forms,
there's
you
know
you
can
learn
languages.

mentioned
the
electronic
books,
but
there's
music
movies
and
all
kinds
of
stuff
that
that
folks
can
engage
in,
and
it
feels
like
that.
If
there's
anything
you
need
the
library
essentially
has
it.
Would
that
be
fair
to
say.

To
do
right-
and
it's
almost
as
this
perfect
merger
between
the
idea
of
you
know,
like
you,
said,
fostering,
learning
and
then
also
just
providing
information,
because
there's
so
much
more
going
on
in
libraries.
Now
you
can
vote
at
libraries
now
you
know
during
the
pandemic,
for
example,
libraries
were
essential
for
a
lot
of
different
communities,
stretchfield's
included
in
terms
of
responding
to
the
pandemic.
In
terms
of,
like
you
know,
meeting
the
needs
of
people
who
otherwise
were
really
isolated
and
and
there's
just
so
much
more.

That
again,
that
must
be
really
interesting
for
somebody
like
you
who
you
know
like
you
said,
grew
up
in
the
shelves
and
you
know,
like
you,
said
your
favorite
job
was
you
know,
and,
and
now
it's
like?
Oh
people
can
go
vote
at
libraries.
People
can
pay
their
taxes
at
libraries.
You
know
like
there's
a
lot
more
that
happens
in
libraries
and
at
library
facilities
now
Beyond.
Then,
just
you
know,
like
I,
said
the
sort
of
standard
checking
out
books.
One
of
those
things
I
want
to
talk
about
is
Chesterfield
were
members
which.

So
we
didn't
see
that
there
was
a
vehicle
for
that
necessarily
right,
and
so,
as
you
know
again
as
part
of
the
learning
tradition
here,
we
are
bringing
inviting
people
in
from
the
community
to
share
their
stories
related
to
Chesterfield
or
related
to
their
growing
up
in
Chesterfield,
right
and
and
recording
them
and
and
having
those
two
are
Digital.
Collection.

So
yeah,
you
might
be
able
to
go
out
and
find
out
anything
you
want
on
the
internet
and
we're
all
so
used
to
being
able
to
go
out
and
find
out
for
any
piece
of
information.
But
some
of
that
information
relies
on
people's.

account
of
something
their
their
memory
of
it,
their
experience
living
it,
and
so
it's
so
cool
to
think
that,
like
people
can
share
that
and
have
it
preserved,

and
basically
sort
of
become
part
of
the
community
in
which
it
happened.

the
ground

it's

absolutely
gorgeous
that

open
up

seen
the
design

plans,

outside
in
the
back
for
like
a

Learning
Garden
with
all
sorts
of
activities.

iterated.

these
things
that

total
sense
