On the latest episode of Chesterfield Behind the Mic, we talk to Dalila Medrano, Multicultural Community Engagement Coordinator, about the ways in which the county reaches out to multicultural parts of the community, the kinds of resources that are available, and the types of events Community Engagement and Resources offers. That list includes the Community Cup, which will take place on Saturday, Sept. 30 at River City Sportsplex.

kind

fall,
it's
basically
fall,
and
one
of
the
events
around
here
that
we're
always
super
excited
about
this
time
of
year
is
the
community
cup
and
I'm
very
glad
to
have
Delila
madrano
from
the
Multicultural
she's,
a
multicultural
Community
engagement
coordinator
in
our
office
of
diversity
and
inclusion.
First
off
Delila
welcome
to
the
podcast.
How
are
you.

over
in
community
engagement
resources,
yes
for
folks
who
may
not
know
what
CER
is
might
not
be
familiar
with
your
work
on
the

Multicultural
side.
Can
you
give
folks
a
little
bit
of
a
some
background
right
on
your
department
and
your
role
within
it
as
part
of
that
office
of
diversity?
Inclusion.

Yeah,
absolutely
so
our
department,
Community
engagement
and
resources,
is
a
newer
Department
within
the
county
and
I
think.
The
best
way
to
kind
of
summarize
you
know
who
we
are
to
the
community
is
that
you
know
we
are
conveners.
We
are
collaborators
and
we're
connectors,
and
so
we
help
convene
different
stakeholders
together
to
work
on
community
building
initiatives.

Right
and
then
in
terms
of
your
specific
role
within
that,
obviously
there
are
lots
of
different
events
that
you
guys
are
a
part
of
a
lot
of
people,
probably
understand
the
idea
of
diversity,
inclusion
and
we'll
get

Obviously
the
community
cut
piece
of
this
in
a
second.
But
what
are
some
of
the
other
things
you
guys
are
involved
with
throughout
the
year.

We
have
my
chest:

Academy,
that's
a
Civic
engagement
Academy
for
members.
You
know
that
live
in
our
community
that
have
come
from
various
countries
and
it's
way
for
them
to
connect
directly
with
County
leaders
and
I,
always
kind
of
like
to
think
of
it.
As
you
know,
the
Civic
engagement
Highway
and
there
are
onramps
and
there
are
off.

You
know
some
some
and
and-
and
it
seems
like
every
time,
I
turn
around-
you
guys
are
adding
something
and
it
feels
like
that's
a
real
momentum
piece
for
you
guys
in
terms
of
working
with
the
community
to
kind
of
figure
out
what
kinds
of
events
could
be
added
right
and
I.
Think
that's
a
big
Focus
for
you
guys
as
as
a
as
a
group
and
certainly
in
your
specific
role,
right.

People
are
born
into
grow
within,
you
know,
live
in
our
community,
and
so
that's
really.
You
know
where
we
work
with
a
lot
of
our
nonprofit
Partners
around
education,
employment
opportunities,
housing,
social
networks
and
sort
of
defining
together.
You
know
with
our
residents,
you
know
what
high
impact
you
know.
Purpose
Driven
success
looks
like
for
our
diverse
communities
in.

Of
the
community,
and
so
the
community,
the
government
has
to
sort
of
respond
to
that
right
and
there's
this
idea
that
you
know
the
more
information
that
is
out
there
about
opportunities
for
folks
to
whether
it's
to
whether
it's
for
folks
to
gather
whether
it's
folks
to
under
you
know
to
learn.
There's
always
I
feel
like
every
time
we
like
I,
said
every
time
I
turn
around
there's
something.

You
know
that
you
guys
are
doing
some
some
sort
of
Outreach
some
sort
of
opportunity
for
different
parts
of
the
community,
that
you
know
I.
Think
of
the
academy
for
just
the
idea
of
being
able
to
learn
more
about
just
how
the
local
government
works.
Yes,
that
kind
of
thing
I
mean
it's
just
it's
a
huge
for
for
a
lot
of
folks
who
you
know,
otherwise
they
wouldn't
know
right
how
it
all
works
and
who
they
need
to
talk
to
about
X,
Y
and
Z.

In
that
work,
absolutely
now
one
of
those
you
know
pieces
of
of
collaboration,
those
pieces
of
community
is
the
community
cup.
So
let's
talk
about
that,
like
I,
said:
Saturday

the
30th
at

City,
Sports,
plex,
it's
the
third
annual
I
believe
and
and
obviously
an
event
that
is
continuing
to
grow
and
change
and
I
know
you
know.

this
year
there
was
a
big
focus
on
not
just
focusing
on
the
tournament,
the
game
itself,
but
also,
what's
going
on
around
it,
the
opportunities
for
other
folks,
there's
stuff
for
more
stuff
for
kids
and
families.
It
feels
like
coming
for
this
year
tell
a
little
bit
about
what
folks
need
to
know
sort
of
leading
up
to
the
community
Cup,
who
all
is
involved
what
and
maybe
even
let's
start
real
basic.
What
is
the
event
itself
and
what's
the
background
on
how
it
kind
of
came
to
be.

So
you
know
if,
if
you
haven't
had
a
chance
to
travel
out
of
the
country,
this
becomes
a
you
know
a
place
to
go
to
where
you
get
to

you

are
associated
with
with
so
many
of
the
cultures
that
are
represented
in
our
County,
and
so
you
have
Artisans.
