We go over questions families might have about trying to find a provider and what to look for in that process as well as talking about what to do if you think becoming a provider—either in your own home or with an established daycare—is the right move for you.

for

folks,
maybe
there's

question

child
care.

there's

even
now
of
child
care,

do
today

to
have
some
folks
on
to
talk
about
maybe
meeting
that
need
and
we're
going
to
start
today
with
janice

child
care
is
a
question
I
think
for
a
lot
of
people,
especially
you
know,
as
we
get
closer
to
the
fall,
but
certainly
year
round,
right
people
have
jobs,
they
have
jobs
to
change,
they
have
needs
that
change
and
I'm
just
curious
as
we
get
started
to
to.
We
wanted
to
have
you
and
caitlin
on
today
to
talk
about
sort
of
some
of
the
some
of
the
resources
that
folks
can
reach
out
for
and
as
well
as
some
of
the
information
they
might
need
before
we
get
into.

For
folks
who
are
who
are
obviously
in
a
situation
where
they
need
that
help
in
hand
who
need
you
know
that
have
that
need,
I
would
imagine
that
folks,
like
you,
who
are
you
know,
on
those
front
lines
who
are

have

information
that
they
need
the
opportunities
to
to
sort
of
share,
that
information
are
really
paramount
in
terms
of
what
you
do
and
in
terms
of
the
child
care
piece
of
it.
What
are
some
of
the
things
that
you
hear
the
most
from
people?

in
terms
of
the
conversation
we're
going
to
have
today,
I
want
to
start
with
sort
of
you
know
the
questions
that
folks
might
have
right
people.
You
know
like
yourself
folks
who,
whether
it's
folks
with
special
needs
or
people
who
are
just
looking
for
child
care,
maybe
even
in
a
pinch.
You
know
a
lot
of
things-
change
jobs,
change,
that
kind
of
stuff
and
I'm
just
curious
as
we
sort
of
talk
through
this.

Learning
they're
getting
social
skills
and
safety
most
of
all
right,
and
we
encourage
families
to
look
at
what
your
needs
are
as
a
family
and
then
try
to
find
a
quality
vendor
around
what
your
needs
are.
For
example,
you
may
have
a
school-aged
child
and
you
need
that
child
to
have
transportation
to
a
right.

And
in
terms
of
the
along
the
same
lines,
I
want
to
reference
a
website
childcareva.com,
which
I
know
is
a
a
big
focus
for,
for
you
guys,
and
certainly,
as
I
was
doing,
some
research
for
this
podcast
was
certainly
a
huge
resource
for
me
and
for
folks
out
there
who
are
have
questions
about.
You
know
what
kinds
of
things
they
should
be
looking
for
for
their
child.
It's
a
great
resource.

I
want
to
specifically
call
up
and
and
you're,
probably
seeing
it
on
screen
right
now,
it's
a
it's
a
essentially
it's
a
sheet
that
has
for
those
who
might
be
listening
to
the
podcast.
Essentially
on
one
side,
it's
you
know,
questions
that
you
might
have
for
yourself,
as
you
are
looking
at
a
different
provider
and
then
on
the
other
side
can
things
you
might
want
to
consider
both
during
and
after
maybe
you
visit
a
provider.
So,
for
example,
is
the
facility
licensed
you
know
what
are
the
qualifications
and
the
training
requirements
of
the
staff?

are

health
and
safety
practices
as
you?
I
know,
you're
familiar
with
these
questions
in
that
list.
As
you
look
through
this
stuff,
what
kind
of
really
stands
out
to
you
the
most
in
these
situations?
Is
it
really
kind
of
a
group
of
questions?
Is
it
that
you
have
that
you're
able
to
answer
them
all?
What's
the
what's
the
sort
of
thing
that
stands
out
the
most
to
you.

and-

I
think
too,
one
of
the
things
that,
in
talking
with
you
for
this
podcast,
it
certainly
seems
like
there's
an
opportunity
for
folks
if
they,
if
they
want
that
information
to
either
find
it
on
that
website
or
to
contact.
Folks,
like
you
folks
who
are
in
you,
know
the
trenches,
so
to
speak
of
this,
who
understand,
you
know
the
way
licensure
works
understands
what
these
vendors
and
different
you
know
places
need
to
provide.

imagine
that
that
there
are
a
lot
of
folks
in
this
day
and
age
who
probably
provide
child
care
services
who
are
not
licensed,
who
are
not
necessarily
on
the
list
that
you're
referencing
I'm
just
curious.
What
would
be
your
message
to
folks
if
they're
considering
one
of
those
options?
What
would
your
your
message
to
them
be
well.

it's
great
to
have
all
of
it
in
one
place.
You
know
for
folks
who
have
a
lot
of
questions,
and
I
can
imagine
if
you
have
such
a
wide
spectrum
of
questions,
you
have
all
of
them
in

right
place,
it's
easier

for
you.
Obviously
there
are
a
lot
of
folks
out
there
who
probably
have
child
care
needs,
who
maybe
the
cost
is
just
you
know,
is
the
prohibitive
issue
right
it
is.

I
appreciate

coming

like
I
was
talking
about
genus.
Obviously
this
is
a
time
you
know
going
into
fall
where
there's
lots
of
questions
for
folks
who
are
looking
for
child
care
for
your
end
of
it,
though,
it's
much
more
about
folks,
maybe
maybe
more
consistent
along.
You
know
the
spectrum
of
the
year,
because
we're
talking
about
our
people,
who
are
maybe
looking
for
employment
and
I'm
just
curious
before
we
get
into
that
talk
about
your
background.
How
did
you
get
involved
in
this?

Kind
of
so
I
actually
started
out
in
adoptions
in
foster
care.
Okay,
so
I
was
with
the
agency,
for
I
guess
it's
almost
been
eight
years
now
and
in
the
last
year
of
transition
to
employment
services.
So
it's
still
in
the
scope
of
serving
families
which
was
really
important
to
me,
but
now
it
allows
me
to
do
it
in
a
way.
That's
a
little
bit
more
focused
and
finite
on
what
I
can
help
them
work
through
right.

So
in
this
scenario,
what
you,
what
you're
working
with,
is
you've
got
providers
who
maybe
have
opportunities
for
folks
who
can
come
in
and
work
at
those
facilities
or
work
with
those
vendors,
and
so
what
this
program
does
is
it
gives
them
the
incentive
essentially
to
bring
those
folks
in?
Is
that
a
good
way
to
kind
of
describe.

So
the
view
program-
it's
really
neat,
so
anybody
who
is
receiving
tanf,
which
is
temporary
assistance
for
needy
families.
They
will
be
automatically
enrolled.
In
our
view,
program,
which
is
virginia's
initiative
for
employment
and
work,
and
what
that
means
is
we
help
them
to
achieve
any
educational
or
employment
goals.
They
work
with
us
for
approximately
two
years,
but
it's
really
a
great
opportunity
to
help
them
become
resourceful
and
get
to
a
situation
where,
when
they're
not
receiving
benefits
right.

Right
and
in
terms
of
you
know
we
mentioned
when
I
was
talking
to
janice
earlier,
you
know:
childcare,
va.com,
there's
also
a
lot
of
good
information
there
for
folks
who
are
you
know
whether
that's
folks
who
are
looking
for
for
work
or
for
maybe
even
providers
who
have
questions
about
sort
of
the
latest
information
and
stuff
that
they
need
to
know.
I'm
just
curious
from
your
standpoint.

sometimes
you're
trying
to
figure
out,
are
there
trainings
available
that
we
could
offer
and
get
people
trained
so
that
they
can
naturally
fall
into
these
positions.
You're
looking
at
people
with
different
barriers,
there
may
be
different
challenges
in
their
life
that
might
make
it
difficult
for
them
to
get
into
some
of
these
jobs,
and
so
how
can
we
work
through
that?
How
can
we
get
creative?
You
know,
finances
are
always
a
challenge
right.

mentioned
the
the
world
shorter
shifting,
I
was
curious
as
we
were
kind
of
getting
into
this
and
sort
of
learning
more
about
sort
of
what
you
do

way

you
sort

connect

pieces.

was
wondering
you
know
when
janice
and
I
talked
with
you-
know,
jobs
and
change,
and
everything
maybe
folks
have
needs
for
child
care,
and
I'm
curious
if
you
have
seen
an
influx
of
folks
who
are
interested
in
this
field
who
maybe
they
were
in
an
other.

know
another
type
of
job,
but
this
opportunity
seems
like
one
that
fits
them
better
and
I
can
imagine
there
might
be
folks
who
are
watching
listening
to
this
podcast
right
now,
who
think,
like
you
know,
I've
been
kind
of
thinking
about
this.
I'm
just
curious
if
you've
been
getting
a
lot
of
that
because
of
that
sort
of
shift
in
the
world
and
sort
of
the
the
way
that
we,
we
all
think
differently
about
work
and
employment.

we
just

a
county,
started
to
recognize
this
is
a
need
that
hits
in
a
whole
bunch
of
different
areas,
and
so
it's
smart
to
look
at
this
and
think
you
know.
How
can
we
holistically
approach
this
right,

say
we're
being
a
lot
more
targeted
now,
with
working
with
the
child
cares,
whereas
previously
it
was
just
kind
of
if,
if
one
approach
does.

sort
of
spectrum
who
are
thinking
about
these
things?

are
some
of
the
things
you
would?
You
would
almost
advise
them
to
stay
away
from.

We're
here
we're
available,
we
don't
have
the
answers
to
everything,
but
we
can
definitely
help
you
find
them
in
a
way
that
you
might
not
have
been
able
to
navigate
on
your
own,
because
we've
got
some
contacts
in
the
field
and
we've,
you
know,
helped
some
people
through
this,
and
so
there
may
be
some
opportunities
here
where
we
can
help.

avoid
something
that
isn't
going
to
work.

terms

what
you
do
and
the
people
that
you
work

sort
of
the
the
provider
network
that
you've
seen,
have
you
seen
a
really
good
response
now

you've,
you
mentioned
you
know
going
into

childcare
facilities

sort
of
reaching
out
to
them
more.
Is
that
something
that
you,
you
think
is
continuing
to
kick
up
and
and
certainly
you'll
sort
of
see
more
of,
as
you
guys
go
forward,

unlicensed
providers
and
I'm
just
curious
to
get
your
point
of
view
from
the
other
side
of
the
coin,
so
to
speak
on.
What
do
you
do
when
you
have
somebody
who
is
unlicensed
is
that
is
that
a
you
know
a
hard
and
fast
look
this
is
you
got
to
do
this
first?
How
does
that
process
work
for
them
and
is
that
definitely
something
they
have
to
change
in
order
to
sort
of
get
to
that
other
side?

think
that's
going
to
make
somebody
not
able
to
be
a
provider
or
anything
like
that.
I
think
that
there
may
be
more
opportunities
should
they
become
licensed,
and
so
we
would
want
to
help
them
if
that
is
their
goal,
but
it
wouldn't
create
a
situation
where
I,
my
team,
wouldn't
be
able
to
help
we'd
still
be
able
to
assist
if
they
chose
not
to
go
that
route

well.
