Kindergarten students listen closely as a high school student reads from the book: Lama llama red pajama. The visit part of a regular commitment from student athletes to encourage younger students to learn to read. They.

Were looking at us like, we were like Superstars and so I feel like we can be good role models to them for the future.

Teachers at Dulles, Elementary say many of the students struggled with reading before the visit started. Now many of them are reading it above their grade level.

Times a week, this fourth grader gets one-on-one tutoring with Mr Garcia at Mose. Elementary Gigi tells us during the pandemic. It was confusing and hard to learn. Reading virtually I didn't like know what to do really much since she started tutoring this year. She says she is getting closer and closer to reading at grade level. Yeah, it's way easier to understand.

Mr Garcia is among 250 tutors in CPS schools. The tutor Corps program launched last year, but expanded this year to address the learning Gap caused by the pandemic.

Making Chicago proud this morning, a senior from Lynn Bloom, Math and Science Academy was accepted to 10 colleges and universities across the country. One was an Ivy League good.

Yes, I was really shocked um when I received the acceptance. um I had my hopes up to get accepted into you. I have been thinking about it for a really long time and just to see that acceptance and to see the video that popped up was very rewarding and I was extremely extremely happy.
