From Gary De Carolis:

Five words that describe Emily: Engaging, Resourceful, Deep, Creative, Friendly

Emily Anderson is a multi-faceted artist, performer, educator, and fairy maker! She’s the creative force behind Bluebird Fairies, where her artwork take shape as oracle decks, a digital app, and expressive workshops. Using her non-dominant hand, Emily’s single-line fairies carry heartfelt messages, supporting people’s positivity and hope.
Beyond her artistic realm, Emily’s passion lies in empowering others. As Coordinator of the Bridging program, she skillfully forges partnerships with arts organizations, artists, and community allies, creating meaningful opportunities for students.

An advocate at heart, Emily co-facilitates Champlain Voices, elevating voices under the Green Mountain Self Advocates umbrella.

Emily lives nestled on the edge of Vermont’s natural beauty. When not drawing fairies and other beings, she weaves blanket on her grandmother’s loom, spends time connecting with nature, and enjoys moments with loved ones.

From Gary De Carolis:

Five words that describe Rod: Compassionate, optimistic, lucky, accepting, futuristic

Copeland was born in Garnett, Kansas, a small town of 3,000 people. He was the youngest of 3 children. His brother was three years older and his sister 10 years older. Copeland's parents were devoted Southern Baptists, so he was raised in that vein. He experienced a very normal childhood and adolescense, doing well in school, having many friends, and participating in sports and school activities. He went one year to a small Baptist College in Kansas before joining the Peace Corps to serve as a volunteer in Sabah, Malaysia on the island of Borneo. His Peace Corps experience dramatically changed his life. After the Peace Corps, Copeland attended a State Teacher’s College in Kansas. While there, he met his wife to be Glenna. They met working as paraprofessionals in a school for children with significant developmental disabilities. They both received degrees in special education, and Copeland went on to get a Masters Degree in School Psychology. Shortly after they were married they moved to Kansas City where the couple lived and worked in predominantly black neighborhoods. While there, Copeland entered graduate school and received his PhD in Developmental Psychology. During that period he ran research and training grants in the inner city.

Copeland left the University of Kansas for a position as an associate professor of psychology at Southwest Missouri State University. A year and a half later he was fortunate to get a position with the State of Vermont as Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services. Later he took a job with the Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation, holding various leadership positions culminating with a five year stint as the Commissioner of the Department of Developmental and Mental Health Services. Prior to his retirement in 2007 Copeland served as the Director of the HIV Aides program in the Vermont Department of Health.

For the past enjoyable 16 years of retirement Glenna and Rod have enjoyed traveling and now spend their winters in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and their Summers in Vermont.

From Gary De Carolis:

Five words that describe Johannah: Funny, progressive, passionate, lover of learning, traveler

Donovan was born at the Bishop DeGoesbriand Hospital in Burlington on a late summer evening to Bernard Leddy and Johannah Mahoney. She eventually became a classic middle child with an older sister and brother and a younger brother and sister. Her family lived in the new north end on Staniford Road in a developing neighborhood, so there was aways action and new neighbors to meet. At the age of five she was enrolled at Thayer School afternoon session and she walked to school alone. An early lesson in independence.

From Gary De Carolis:

I am the eldest son of an Italian American working class family raised in The Bronx, New York. After 12 years of parochial Catholic education, I attended the City University of New York, where I discovered the anti-war movement was more important than pre-med study and became a history major.

Discovery is my operative word: salesman, customer service, schoolteacher, window washer (40 story buildings), food cooperative manager, health care advocate/director, union organizer, electoral campaign worker/manager , city council staff, mediator, therapist, leadership development/coaching practice, entrepreneur. Throughout my life, my father, who lived to almost 100, would ask me, “what are you doing now, how do I describe your work to the family?”

The joy of three adult daughters, their families & offspring, currently 4 grandsons ages 2 months to 6 years living close by is a joy.

Five words: Curious, Lovable, Patient, Observant, Generous, Insightful

From Gary De Carolis:

Stefani Capizzi grew up in New England as a middle child in a family of 5. She generally lived in Vermont since 1996. She has 3 adult children and 4 grandchildren who live in Vermont, and she loves to see them whenever she can. She's a 55 year old person in long term recovery from Alcoholism. Capizzi has been on a lifelong journey as a songwriter, singer, and musician, and it’s a big part of who she is. Professionally, after raising children, including 6 years of home-schooling them, Capizzi worked in health care and addiction recovery fields. She was a nurse for 10 years and an Executive Director of an addiction recovery center for 7 years. Capizzi had the honor of being a Recovery Coach for 10 years, including emergency department work. She continues to do individual recovery coaching through North Central Vermont Recovery Center. Additionally, today she works in the field of addiction medicine. She has also served in roles that address criminal justice and homelessness.

In 2019, Capizzi left Vermont and lived and traveled in an RV for the better part of 2 years. She could write a book about that part, and probably will some day. This year, she's been working on an album of original songs that’s about to be released. Fifty percent of all physical CD sales will be donated to addiction recovery services.
