A
The
director
of
city
parks
I,
want
to
thank
you
all
for
coming
today.
It's
a
great
day,
another
great
day
in
the
city
of
Pittsburgh,
another
great
day
for
city
parks,
we're
so
happy
to
be
here
with
all
our
partners
to
launch
really
the
reboot
of
our
summer
meal
programs
2.0
and
here
we're
calling
it
grub
up.
So
grub
up
is
going
to
be
an
important
component,
providing
free
meals
for
kids
across
the
city
on
regular
basis.
A
B
Thanks
director,
so
about
a
year
ago,
we
started
saying:
what
can
we
do
for
our
kids
in
the
city
to
enhance
what
we're
already
doing?
What
can
we
do
to
build
off?
Programs
are
already
there
and
who
are
our
partners
in
order
to
be
able
to
do
it,
because
we
don't
have
blank
checks
that
we
can
just
write.
So
we
reached
out
to
the
foundation
to
community
to
the
corporate
community.
We
took
167
kids
that
had
summer
jobs,
and
this
year
we
will
employ
over
2,000.
B
We
looked
around
and
we
said
you
know
what
would
it
be
great
if
money
wasn't
a
factor
in
deciding
whether
kids
could
go
swimming
and
through
the
directors,
leadership
and
the
help
and
the
partnership
of
City
Council
kids
are
going
to
swim
for
free
this
summer.
Not
only
that
they're
going
to
be
involved
in
our
rec
programs
and
we're
going
to
get
them
involved
in
a
lot
more
programs
through
the
great
people
we
have
in
parks
and
recreation,
and
today
we
announced
the
third
pillar
of
what
we're
doing
for
our
kids
this
summer.
B
We're
expanding
the
programs
so
that
they
can
have
good
n,
healthy
meals
after
school
and
throughout
the
summer,
because
so
many
kids,
that's
not
an
option
that
they
have
and
you
can
go
fur-free
swimming
and
you
can
offer
jobs,
but
if
they
don't
have
nutrition
ruttman.
Is
it
and
we've
reached
out
to
the
partners
that
are
here
today
in
to
the
National
League
of
Cities
AG
organization?
B
A
So
some
of
the
details
of
the
grub
up
program
again,
it's
an
extension
of
our
our
previous
program,
the
summer
meals
program-
and
this
is
really
just
an
extension
of
that
robot
Pittsburgh
will
serve
free
meals
to
the
children
up
to
18
years
old,
as
well
as
disabled
children
up
to
21
years
old
at
more
than
70
permanent
sites
throughout
the
city,
and
these
include
our
10
recreational
programs,
numerous
City
playgrounds
of
spray
parks
and
pools
various
churches
and
social
service
providers
and
also
our
Carnegie
libraries
as
well.
That's
a
nude
announcement
as
well.
A
So
thanks
to
the
partnership
with
public
schools
will
literally
be
taking
this
program
on
the
road
the
summer.
By
sending
a
food
truck
to
visit,
28
sites
to
parks,
pools
playgrounds
during
the
seven-week
period,
the
grub
up,
Pittsburgh
food
truck
will
serve
cold
lunches
only
from
11am
to
1pm
on
tuesday,
through
friday,
from
june
23rd
to
August.
A
Seventh,
the
food
truck
will
take
numerous
stops
and
appearances
in
conjunction
with
our
roving
art
part,
which
has
have
been
around
for
as
long
as
I
can
remember,
and
it
includes
special
appearances
as
part
of
our
carts
opening
day.
Festivities
will
have
on
tuesday
june
sixteenth
at
11am
to
1pm
will
be
a
highly
park
super
playground
in
highland
park
and
for
more
information.
You
can
always
check
our
website,
as
many
of
you
seen
our
new
summer
magazine,
we're
pushing
a
lot
of
our
activities
and
in
terms
of
communications
to
our
website.
A
So
we
can
have
timely
and
up-to-date
information
and
that's
at
city
parks,
dotnet
and
I
also
want
to
do
some
of
our
partners.
Here.
We
have
so
many
to
name
specifically
here,
but
I
want
to
highlight
some
of
our
incredible
partners
here
and
next.
I
want
to
reduce
a
tremendous
advocate
for
public
health
and
child
nutrition.
Dr.
Karen
hacker
from
the
County
Department
of
Health
doctor.
C
What
a
pleasure,
what
a
pleasure
it
is
to
be
here
today,
so
celebrating
the
launch
of
the
grub
up.
You
probably
know
we
did
the
live
well
allegheny
campaign
a
little
over
a
year
ago,
and
it's
so
great
to
see
the
traction
that
we're
getting
Pittsburgh
was
the
first
community
that
adopted
the
livewell
message
here,
and
we
really
see
things
like
Rob
up
as
part
of
that
message,
you
know,
exercise
eating
right.
C
C
D
Good
morning
and
thank
you
dr.
hacker,
a
a
lot
of
thank
yous
to
go
around
from
me
this
morning
for
a
community.
The
mayor
once
said
at
several
meetings.
I'm
sure
that
you
know
he
knew
the
kids
were
mine
when
they
were
in
school,
but
he
believed
they
were
his
when
they
were
out
and
those
just
weren't
words
for
him
and
I.
D
For
their
day
when
school
is
out,
that's
much
more
difficult,
and
so
the
fact
that
the
community
has
come
together,
the
city,
allegheny
health
health
department,
as
well
as
our
foundation,
partners
that
are
stepped
up
to
help
to
make
our
city
a
more
secure
food
source
for
children
for
the
summer
is
just
amazing.
So
I
also
have
to
give
a
shout
out
to
our
director
of
food
service.
Miss
Curtis,
teen
walkers
right
over
here,
giveaway
crew,
seen.
D
Just
so
you
know,
you
know
how
you
have
people
and
departments
that
you
have
in
your
organization
that
just
get
the
job
done
day
after
day
after
day
after
day,
no
drama,
no
problems,
just
getting
the
job
done,
and
that's
what
Curtis
een
does
for
beating
the
children
of
the
Pittsburgh
Public
Schools.
Thank
you.
A
Thank
you
so
much
and
I
will
also
want
to
bring
up
another
partner
gentleman.
Who's
been
instrumental
in
terms
of
helping
city
parks.
Have
the
success
we've
had
during
my
tenure
and
has
been
a
real
advocate
and
a
great
partner
for
me,
and
that's
our
chairman
of
our
urban
Recreation
Committee
on
the
City
Council
and
city
council
is
again
been
very
supportive
in
our
efforts
to
expand
the
program
and
to
again
embrace
the
idea
of
kind
of
a
complete
recreational
opportunities
and
nutrition
opportunities
for
children,
and
that
is
honorable
Corey
O'connor.
E
Thank
you,
everybody
on
behalf
of
Parks
and
Recreation
and
city
council
I
just
wanted
to
give
a
big
thank
you
to
all
of
our
partners
here.
I
would
actually
like
everybody.
If
you
work
for
city
parks
to
just
please
raise
your
hand
and
be
recognized.
These
are
all
of
our
great
workers
for
the
city
parks
department.
E
E
It
starts
with
the
youth
in
the
community
and
by
offering
free
lunches
and
having
a
food
truck
to
go
with
it,
you're,
bringing
the
kids
together
and
building
a
neighborhood
around
parks
and
recreation
as
we
open
up
spray
parks
as
we
open
up
new
farmers
markets
across
the
city,
city
parks,
job
is
to
bring
the
neighborhood
together
and
that's
what
each
and
every
individual
in
this
room
that
works
for
city
parks
does
so
on
behalf
of
the
city
we
want
to.
Thank
you.
E
We're
encouraged
I
was
just
told
by
the
mayor
that
I
still
look
like
I'm
15,
so
I
can
get
a
free
lunch
if
I'm
ever
hungry,
but
it's
it's
a
great
program
to
come
out
and
to
bring
our
kids
together
throughout
the
city
of
Pittsburgh.
So
thank
you
director
and
thank
you
to
everybody
for
being
here
and
all
of
our
partners.
Thank
you.
A
Thank
You
councilman
and
whenever
you
show
up
we're
ready
for
you
in
free
meal
and
an
apple
as
well,
I
also
want
to
acknowledge
another
partner.
Gentlemen
who's
worked
with
us
for
many
years
and
has
really
been
a
champion
in
terms
of
this
children,
nutrition
area
and
it
support
of
all
of
our
healthy
eating
and
healthy
activity
opportunities.
Mr.
ken
regal.
F
Just
harvest
was
founded
to
give
voice
to
the
needs
of
foreign
hungry
people
in
the
halls
of
government
and
to
make
public
policy
more
responsive
to
those
needs.
Today,
when
thirty
one
percent
of
Pittsburgh's
children
live
in
poverty,
we
are
honored
to
stand
with
mayor,
Peduto,
councilman
O'connor
and
our
partners
from
the
county
in
the
school
district.
All
of
you
to
celebrate
the
launch
of
the
grub
up
program
like
school
meals.
The
summer
food
program
is
an
essential
part
of
America's
anti-hunger
safety
net
at
just
harvest.
F
We've
been
proud
to
work
for
the
past
20-plus
years
to
promote
and
advocate
for
this
very
important
community
resource
across
the
country
summer.
Food
enables
busy
and
struggling
families
to
be
sure
that
their
kids,
our
kids,
are
getting
the
nutritious
food
that
they
need.
All
parents
know
how
hard
that
can
be
now
so
much
of
the
next
generation
struggles
to
overcome
deep
poverty.
Grub
up
truly
represents
a
next-generation
approach
to
bringing
an
end
to
childhood.
Hunger.
F
Grub
up
keeps
the
government's
promise
to
protect
children
from
hunger
with
summer
and
after-school
meals,
but
it
also
together
among
these
partners,
we're
making
that
program.
Kid-Friendly
and
parent
friendly,
instead
of
bureaucratic,
we're
making
it
forward-looking
instead
of
business
as
usual
and
we're
making
it
welcoming
instead
of
stigmatizing,
we
are
committed
to
helping
the
grub
up
program
succeed
as
we
spread
the
word
to
kids
and
parents
at
the
grassroots
level
across
the
city
in
the
coming
weeks.
F
A
Two
ladies
on
my
right
here,
Betty
crews
from
the
mayor's
office
in
my
deputy
director,
Jamie
beachy
from
city
parks,
were
instructed
completely
instrumental
and
not
only
obtained
the
grants
about
helping
the
integration
as
well
and
two
other.
Ladies
of
course,
our
instrumentals
well
and
they'll
be
on
the
on
the
line
every
day
for
as
long
as
they
can,
and
that
is
our
Carly
Walker
and
Florence
McNeil
are
Carly's
on
my
left
here.
Red
dress,
hello,
where's,
Flo,
they've,
been
doing
this
program
for
many
years
and
they'll
be
handling
the
day-to-day
operations.
A
So
thank
you
all
for
coming.
It's
a
wonderful
event.
If
you
have
any
questions
will
be
happy
to
answer
them
again.
Thank
you
for
coming
out
for
this
important
program
and
again
we're
happy
to
serve
the
children
of
Pittsburgh
and
the
families
of
Pittsburgh
to
the
best
of
our
ability
every
day
and
thanks
for
coming.
