A
Today,
we're
going
to
celebrate
a
special
occasion,
but
using
this
special
occasion
to
recognize
the
work
you
guys
do
on
a
daily
basis.
You
know
it's:
it's
called
Animal,
Care
and
Control
for
for
a
specific
purpose.
There's
there's
the
control
side,
which
comes
down
to
the
public
safety
of
the
city
of
Pittsburgh,
dealing
with
wildlife
that
poses
not
only
a
public
threat
but
also
public
health
threat
to
the
city
of
Pittsburgh.
But
then
there's
the
care
part
and
that's
the
part
that
brings
about
the
compassion
of
why
you
chose
to
be
in
this
field.
A
New
uniforms
are
able
to
to
show
the
discipline
that
we
have
within
the
bureau
to
be
able
to
not
only
look
the
part
of
a
public
safety
official,
but
also
to
be
a
part
of
it.
But
it's
what's
behind
that
uniform
the
heart
and
the
compassion
of
the
men
and
women
of
this
Bureau
that
needs
to
be
celebrated.
A
We
have
a
very
special
story,
one
that
probably
didn't
get
enough
attention,
one
that
recognized
that
people
with
in
city
government
don't
forget
that
when
that
call
is
made
that
when
you
go
home
at
night,
you
think
about
it-
and
sometimes
you
think
about
it
for
days
weeks
months
and
in
this
case
almost
two
years
until
the
problem
solved,
gunner
was
missing.
My
family
was
morning
and
Animal
Care
and
Control
went
about
a
special
duty
of
work
in
order
to
be
able
to
resolve
it
and
never
gave
up.
A
They
were
dogged
in
their
duties
and
and
because
of
that,
the
result
was
a
homecoming
that
is
celebrated
today.
I
want
to
recognize
supervisor
Taylor
Szymanski,
to
tell
us
a
little
bit
more
about
the
this
story
and
then
at
that
point,
have
an
official
commendation
for
the
record
of
city
government
and
the
history
of
the
city
of
Pittsburgh
and
thanking
the
men
and
women.
This
Bureau.
B
Thank
You,
mr.
mayor,
we
have
a
really
happy
ending
that
I'm
I'm
pleased
to
be
here
to
tell
you
about.
After
about
20
months
of
searching,
we
were
able
to
reunite
Gunnar
with
his
owner
and
I'd
love.
To
just
tell
you
a
little
bit
about
how
that
happened.
We
started
looking
for
Gunnar
nearly
20
months
ago,
where,
after
he
made
his
great
escape
out
the
gate
with
his
his
dog
brother.
B
His
dog
brother
chose
to
return
shortly
after
the
escape
Gunnar
decided
to
take
a
short
tour
of
a
Pittsburgh,
and
so
he
he
made
his
rounds
and
was
seen
many
times
over
the
course
of
20
months
by
everybody
in
animal
care
and
control.
Everybody
did
make
an
effort
to
try
and
catch
Gunnar.
He
proved
to
be
quite
elusive.
Over
the
nearly
two
years
in
February,
we
had
reports
that
gunner
was
hanging
out
near
frick
Park
and
we
were
able
to
place
a
humane
trap
in
that
area.
B
In
the
yard
of
a
concerned,
citizen
Gunnar
avoided
the
trap
for
nearly
two
weeks
until
we
received
a
call
from
another
concerned,
neighbor
nearby,
who
said
she
had
been
working
with
Gunnar
for
almost
a
year
trying
to
gain
his
trust.
And
is
she
believed
that
if
we
placed
the
trap
on
her
property
that
we
would
be
able
to
catch
him,
so
some
officers
were
able
to
move
the
trap
that
very
day
and
within
just
a
few
hours,
we
had
got
her
trapped.
