D
So,
whereas
in
2008
the
nonprofit
get
involved,
Inc
was
founded
by
dedicated
community
leader,
Allegheny,
County,
Councilman,
Tom,
Baker
and
whereas
get
involves
mission
is
to
provide
leadership
and
development
programs
and
initiatives
that
engage
energize,
educate
and
empower
students,
young
professionals
and
lifelong
learners
to
make
a
positive
difference
in
their
communities
and
to
become
civically
engaged
and
whereas
get
involves.
Hope
is
that
student
leaders
will
smoothly
transition
into
their
careers
through
active
community
involvement
and
whereas
get
involved,
inspires
educates
and
Springs
interested
participants
into
action
by
coordinating
courses.
D
Now,
therefore,
be
it
resolved
that
the
Council
of
the
city
of
Pittsburgh
does
hereby
recognize
councilman,
Tom
Baker
and
get
involved
Inc
for
organizing
this
annual
service
summit
focused
on
civic
engagement.
That
impacts
the
lives
of
thousands
of
individuals
and
be
it
further
resolved
that
the
Council
of
the
city
of
Pittsburgh
rindas
hereby
declare
declare
September
10th
2019
to
be
get
involved
in
service
summit
day
in
the
city
of
Pittsburgh.
We.
D
D
So
we
have
a
number
of.
We
wanted
to
make
sure
that
all
of
the
winners
whose
names
I
didn't
read
out
loud,
but
we
can
make
sure
that
they're
recognized
by
councilman
Baker
everyone's
going
to
get
their
own
copy
of
the
proclamation.
So
you'll
have
it
you
can
frame
it.
You
can
put
it
in
your
office
whatever,
but
you
deserve.
You
all
deserve
it
for
being
such
great
examples
for
generations
who
are
younger
and
older
than
you
for
being
present
in
your
communities
and
doing
such
great
work.
So
congratulations.
F
Councilman
Bill
Peduto
at
that
point
was
the
first
person
to
have
us
down
for
for
this
ceremony
and
it's
just
been
a
labor
of
love
and
awesome
labor
of
love
for
these
last
ten
years,
and
what
matters
is
the
good
work
that
all
of
these
great
human
beings
are
doing
in
our
community
to
make
a
difference,
and
it's
just
been
an
incredible
experience
with
get
involved
over
these
last
ten
years.
The
service
summit
is
our
largest
event
of
the
year.
F
We
do
have
the
quarterly
Power
Hour
series
that
is
not
a
drinking
event,
that
is
about
leadership
and
community
and
getting
people
together.
I've
had
70
of
those.
Over
the
years
we
have
had
the
empower
ship
conference
and
we've
had
six
graduating
classes
from
our
fast-track
Community
Leaders
program
through
get
involved.
So
it's
just
been
fantastic.
F
That
being
said,
Thursday
night
is
the
big
night
president
Chris
Howard,
who,
whatever
you
think
you've
achieved
in
this
life
when
you
compare
it
to
Chris
Howard,
even
you
haven't
Fraser
he's
done
some
pretty
pretty
amazing
stuff
that
Chris
Howard
says
the
president
varam.
You
he's
our
keynote
speaker
on
Thursday
night,
it's
at
Ace
Hotel,
so
we
actually
moved.
It
was
at
the
union
project
year.
F
One
and
eight
years
of
Carlow
University
I,
know
Cory
was
at
that
a
few
times
and
is
a
former
honorees
as
well,
and
so
we're
gonna
be
at
the
Ace
Hotel
on
Thursday
night
Natalie,
Ben
Savannah,
the
scene
column
editor
from
the
post,
because
that
will
be
there
so
to
the
honorees.
You
better
I
mean
it's
a
stylish
group,
but
you
better
come
stylish
on
Thursday
night
cuz.
It
is
it
we
will
have
the
scene
editor
from
the
coast.
F
Is
that
there
with
us
so
yeah,
it's
really
about
all
the
honorees,
so
I
would
just
ask
them
to
introduce
themselves
and
the
thing
we
do
every
year:
it's
okay
Kyle!
If
it's
okay,
Councilwoman
and
president
Krauss,
it
just
say
your
name,
maybe
where
you
work
and
then
your
favorite
thing
that
you
were
involved
with
having
Fraser
you've
been
on
thirty
nonprofit
boards.
This
might
be
tough
for
you.
So
should
we
start
with
James?
Oh
great!
Oh,
that's
easy!
Yeah,
all
right,
but
these
are.
F
G
Hello:
everyone,
my
name,
is
Joel
gray,
I
work
for
the
Pittsburgh
Pirates
and
one
of
the
fun
things
I
get
to
do
is
spread
our
brand
throughout
the
community,
a
Pittsburgh
and
then,
besides,
that
I
sit
over
a
nonprofit
called
Africa
bookbags
and
we
help
to
educate
youth,
empower
them
both
here
and
in
Africa,
and
try
to
connect
them
through
missions
trip.
So
thank
you
for
this
honor
thanks.
J
Hello,
I'm
nelson
cooper,
the
fourth
I
work
at
PNC,
Financial,
Services,
Group,
I'm
involved
with
several
nonprofit
boards.
I
guess
the
most
the
thing
I'm
most
proud
of
is
being
involved
with
the
Pirates
RBI
program,
which
is
reviving
baseball
in
inner
cities,
also
with
Big
Brothers
Big
Sisters
fame
pomp,
the
different
things
they're
about
RBI
really
takes
a
cake
for
me.
Good.

Hi
I'm
Ernest
Raja
Cohn
I
work
as
a
policy
analyst
in
the
office
of
equity
for
the
administration
of
Mayor
Bill
Peduto,
one
of
the
favorite
things
I've
been
involved
with,
has
been
my
work
with
off
of
community
affairs,
where
I've
got
to
work
variety
of
neighborhoods
throughout
the
city
and
at
a
really
a
grassroots
level.
So
that's
been
great.
M
Giving
honor
to
God
and
thanks
to
all
of
you,
especially
County
Councilman
Tom
Baker
Thank
You
Evan
Frazier,
the
senior
vice
president
Community
fairs,
with
Highmark
health
I'm
here
representing
and
I'll,
say
that
would
be
the
organization
I'm
most
excited
about
right
now,
which
is
the
advanced
leadership
initiative.
It's
an
initiative
focused
on
how
do
we
build
the
african-american
executive
leadership
pipeline
here
in
our
region.
N
Everyone
Lindsey
Powell
right
across
the
hall
in
mayor
Peduto
his
office.
A
part
of
my
job
is
making
sure
that
neighborhood
stay
vibrant,
but
something
that
keeps
my
heart
full
is
working
for
a
Big
Brothers,
Big
Sisters.
My
little
keeps
me
young
and
hip,
and
I
really
appreciate
that
that
relationship
with
her.
O
Good
morning,
Josiah
Gilliam
I'm,
the
my
brother's
keeper
coordinator
for
the
city
of
Pittsburgh
and
Allegheny
County
I
serve
on
the
board
of
pomp
and
union
project,
which
brings
me
a
lot
of
joy
and
fulfillment.
But
recently
I've
been
involved
with
a
mentoring
program
called
Y
achievers,
and
we
started
with
a
initial
cohort
of
seventh
graders
and
all
of
those
students
which
will
be
who
will
be
first-generation.
College
students
are
starting
their
ninth
grade
year
this
year,
so
I'm
particularly
proud
of
them.
For
that
good.
Q
Morning,
everyone,
my
name,
is
Alyssa
P
Lyon
I'm,
the
sustainable
communities
director
at
Green,
Building
Alliance,
which
is
dedicated
to
the
promotion
of
healthy
buildings.
I'm
excited
about
a
couple
of
things,
but
one
of
the
things
I'm
excited
about
is
being
on
the
board
of
the
local
n-double-a-cp,
which
is
historically
engaged
in
leveraging
opportunities
for
African,
American
residents
and
communities
and
I
also
enjoy
chairing
the
micro
enterprise
loan
committee
for
the
URA,
which
is
all
about
small
businesses.
So
that's.
F
A
pretty
inspiring
group
of
people
right,
so
we
give
a
big
round
of
applause,
and
the
theme
of
the
summit
is
don't
be
bored,
be
on
a
board
right
and
it's
different
spellings
I
know
to
look,
don't
be
bored,
be
on
a
board
of
directors,
be
on
the
unprofessional
board.
That's
what
this
organization's
all
about!
That's
what
Thursday
night's
all
about,
and
thank
you
to
these
incredible
people
for
being
the
perfect
example
of
that
that
thought,
process
of
not
being
bored
in
our
region
always
finding
something
positive
to
do
to
help
others
inspire
others.
R
D
Come
on
up
so
I
had
the
pleasure
to
join
this.
This
group
in
many
more
audience,
attendees
audience
members
for
the
performance
of
the
all-female
Julius
Caesar
in
Frick
Park,
this
last
Saturday.
It
was
their
first
performance
of
that
production
and
I'm
really
excited
to
go
back
and
actually
see
the
full
performance.
But
I
was
there
to
give
a
snippet
of
the
proclamation
and
to
be
there
as
they're,
celebrating
their
15th
anniversary
and
have
just.
D
15,000
audience
members
that
they've
reached
in
those
years,
so
this
is
a
big
big
year
for
Pittsburg
Shakespeare
in
the
parks.
As
someone
who
used
to
actually
sure
for
a
Shakespeare
Festival,
an
outdoor
Shakespeare
Festival
when
I
was
a
student
in
high
school.
This
is
just
a
really
wonderful
part
of
our
theater
fabric
and
arts
fabric
in
the
community,
whereas
Pittsburg
Shakespeare
in
the
parks
has
contributed
to
the
rich
cultural
fabric
of
our
city
since
2005
nurturing
our
minds
and
souls
with
15
seasons.
D
Featuring
14
plays
five
weeks
of
will
and
the
world
premiere
of
supernatural
Shakespeare
all
showcasing
more
than
200
actors,
directors,
designers
and
musicians
and
whereas
Pisa
creates
lively,
accessible,
imaginative
Shakespeare
productions.
So
the
bards
timeless
words
can
resonate
to
further
in
former
worlds,
the
human
condition
and
ourselves.
And
whereas,
when
actor
and
director
Jennifer
Tober
moved
to
Pittsburgh
from
New
York
City,
she
envisioned
a
professional
outdoor
theater
company
in
the
Steel
City.
D
And
whereas
the
annual
free-for-all
opportunity
in
our
beautiful
city
parks
provides
unique
experiences
that
Pittsburghers
closer
together
through
the
magic
of
storytelling,
the
power
of
words
and
the
inspiration
of
imagination
and
whereas
this
year's
first
all-female
production
stages,
the
political
drama,
Julius
Caesar
at
three
different
neighborhood
parks,
marking,
p6
15th
anniversary
season
and
introducing
new
Android
educational
and
audience
initiatives.
While
audience
members
will
surpass
15,000.
D
This
September
now,
therefore
be
it
resolved
that
the
Council
of
the
city
of
Pittsburgh
does
hereby
celebrate
the
significant
impact
of
Jennifer
tober
and
recognises
the
important
contribution
of
Shakespeare
in
the
parks
to
the
pittsburgh
community
and
be
it
further
resolved
that
the
Council
of
the
city
of
Pittsburgh
does
hereby
declare
Tuesday
September.
10Th
2019
to
be
Jennifer
tober
and
Pittsburgh
Shakespeare
in
the
park's
15th
anniversary
day
in
the
city
of
Pittsburgh,
I.
D
P
D
E
S
We
we
educate,
we
entertain
and
we
above
all
create
community
and
peace,
and
we
love
doing
that.
We
love
bringing
people
together
and
we
love
especially
showing
children
from
all
backgrounds
in
all
ages,
showing
them
that
they
can
aspire
to
be
whatever
they
would
like
to
be
either
on
stage
or
behind
the
scenes
without
regard
to
gender
or
class
socioeconomic
status.
Ability
things
like
that.
So
thank
you.
S
So
much
and
I'd
like
to
thank
my
board
and
friends
and
all
the
hundreds
and
hundreds
of
people
who
have
worked
through
the
years,
often
times
in
a
volunteer
fashion,
to
make
sure
that
this
happens
every
year.
So,
thank
you,
I
guess
we're
going
to
introduce
ourselves
or
can
I
say
their
names,
Ron
and
Erica,
and
Helen
and
John
and
Lynette
and
Kat
and
Jonathan,
who
is
here
taking
pictures
and
all
of
our
other
board
members
and
supporters
and
friends
who
aren't
here.
Okay,
so
thank
you
so
much.
D
E
D
E
D
Therefore,
be
it
resolved
that
the
Council
of
the
city
of
Pittsburgh
does
hereby
celebrate
the
significant
impact
of
Audrey,
Lyda
and
Angelina
Miko
and
recognizes
the
important
contribution
of
the
three

rowing
Association
to
the

community
and
be
it
further
resolved
that
the
Council
of

does
hereby
declare
Tuesday
September
10th
2019
to

in
the

I.
T
Good
morning
my
name
is
Matt
Logue
I'm,
the
executive
director
at
Three,
Rivers,
rowing
Association
I
just
wanted
to
take
this
opportunity
to
thank
the
council
for
recognizing
not
just
our
athletes.
They
achieve
so
much
in
such
a
short
period
of
time,
but
the
three
rivers,
our
own
association
as
a
whole.
Our
mission
is
to
make
rowing
accessible
to
anybody
that
wants
to
come
and
experience
our
waters.
T
Try
out
our
sport
and
get
fit,
have
fun
and
have
a
community
we're
thrilled
to
offer
programming
from
middle
school
or
to
our
oldest
active
racer
is
actually
87
years
old
and
everything
in
between
our
first
throw
program
and
adaptive.
Rowing
programs
continue
to
grow
and
foster
every
year
and
we
are
very
grateful
for
the
support
of
the
city
of
Pittsburgh,
the
entire
council
and
we
take
great
pride
when
our
crews
get
to
travel
regionally
nationally
and
globally,
to
represent
this
great
city.
So,
thank
you
all
very,
very
much.
U
I'm
kind
of
quiet
so
I'll
keep
this
short
I
just
like
to
thank
the
city
of
Pittsburgh
for
acknowledging
our
accomplishment
this
year
and
my
teammates
and
anyone
who's
supported
me
along
the
way.
So
thank
you
for
that
and
my
coaches,
as
well
as
him
and
Matt,
but
Matt's
on
here,
and
my
partner
Angie,
but
she's
a
Wisconsin
right
now.
So
thank
you.
B
R
I'm
going
to
read
the
proclamation
and
I'll

Let
me
say:
what's
not
on
this
paper,
dr.
Jones
and
I
are
very,
very
close
friends.
We
have
worked
together.
She

There
are
there
moments
where
someone
has
great
accomplishments,
but
there
are
very
few
times
when
a
person
is
as
kind
and
as
loving
inside
as
they
are
great
on
the
outside,
and
in
this
case
dr.
Sheila
Johnson
is
a
lovely,
wonderful
con
woman,
whose
kindness
and
generosity
inside
is
even
greater
than
her
academic

outside.
So
congratulations

for
that
I

also
I'm

I
say
all
of
those
things.
Mr.
Z
president,
a
member
of
councils
to
tell
you
that
I'm
here
to
tell
you
I've,
been
accused
of
a
lot
of
things
and
I've
been
called
a
lot
of
things
but
I'm
here
to
publicly
say
what
I
am
NOT.
Mr.
president
and
of
course
many
of
you
mayor,
beware
of
that
in
January,
I
was
terminated
from
the
city
of
Pittsburgh
worked
over
30
years,
but
I
was
forced
to
sign
an
agreement.
Z
If
I
wanted
my
job
back,
stating
that
I
am
an
abuser
of
drugs
and
alcohol,
never
ever
in
my
life,
I've
ever
been
accused
of
any
of
those
things.
This
contract
is
called
the
last
chance
agreement
that
is
used
today
by
the
Pittsburgh
Public
Works
Department,
and
the
only
way
to
be
able
to
provide
for
my
family
I
had
to
sign
this
I
was
given
one
day
to
sign,
I
refuse
to
sign,
but
then
I
find
under
duress,
because
I
need
it
to
work.
Z
I
was
terminated
again
I'm
here
to
tell
you
it
is
a
bad
practice.
It
is
a
bad
policy
I'm
not
asking
for
any
favors
I
am
asking
you
to
look
into
this,
get
a
legal
opinion.
How
many
employees
have
been
railroaded
over
the
last
10
years
for
signing
this
agreement?
Yes,
there
are
some
that
this
applies
to,
but
I
can
stand
here
to
tell
you
all.
African
Americans
are
not
violent.
I
never
hid,
hurt
nor
harmed
anyone.
I'm
here
ready
and
willing
to
work.
I
am
NOT
a
substance.
Z
Abuser
and
I
am
NOT
an
alcoholic,
and
so
I'm
here
today,
I'm
embarrassed
to
say
these
kinds
of
things
for
all
the
service
that
I've
given
this
city
and
to
be
able
to
have
to
sign
something
like
this
I
am
asking
you,
as
a
member
of
council
to
just
look
into
this
after
you
look
into
it.
Ask
a
couple
of
questions:
where
is
the
oversight
for
public
works?
Z
Who
follows
up
on
the
decisions
that
the
legal
departments
make
and
then,
finally,
after
you
determine
that
this
is
not
a
correct
document
or
need
to
be
re-evaluated
that
you
would
allow
me
to
get
back
to
work
and
to
begin
to
provide
for
my
family
once
again,
I
am
just
embarrassed
to
say
that
I'm
anywhere
associated
with
anything
violent
and
anything
dealing
with
substance
abuse
with
over
30
years
of
services.
Thank
you
very
much.
I
do
have
a
packet
here
that
I
could
leave
with
you.
Z
It's
just
only
three
documents:
the
documents
that
I
receive
an
email
saying
if
you
want
your
job,
you
better
sign.
This
I
have
a
copy
of
the
decision
by
the
civil
service
that
I
won,
so
the
full
reinstatement
back
pay
but
sign
this
document
and
then
I
have
a
copy
of
the
actual
last
chance
agreement.
AA
My
name

and
I
came
today,
because
I
wanted
to
speak
to
you.
Mr.

I
see
that
you
made
announcement
our
that
you
agreed
that
you're
gonna
make
a
park
out
there
llama
named
after
Koster.
Is
this
some
kind
of
Park
you
making
after
coffee?
What's
that
the
coffee?
Oh
well,
okay,
I,
can't
take
of
my
time,
but
since
I
can't
take
up
my
time,
I
wouldn't
speak
for

AA
What
are
you
gonna
do
about

Brittany
didn't
he
said,
he's
fired
and
I
heard
when
Mark
called
he
was
on
his
break
and
he
said
his
wife
had
called.
She
was
upset
that
he
was
fired
on
the
radio,
see
you
Kosta
in
the
first
place,
he
he
put
a
finger
printing
machine
that
they
had
to
take
and
be
able
to
get
in

building
for
mark
the

told
him
they
had
to
take
that
machine
and
get
rid
of.
He
said
no
he's
gonna
keep
it
when
he
left
here
he
had.
AA
The
machine
was
still
here.
We
had
to
pay
$12,000
for
that
machine
that
he
kept.
They
made
him
the
head
of
the
person
having
a
Bloomfield,
Festival
I
said
yeah,
we
paid
12
because
my
pasta
took
a
call
Miss
Matthews
after
leave
Matthews
at
7:30
at
night
screaming
you
told
BJ
on
me
when
I
came
down
and
told
he
said
she
said
no
answer.
Yes,
that
did
call
he
said,
but
I
didn't
read
it
do
you
understand.
Kosta
was
the
one
when
they
found
the
baby
dog
black
baby
doll
hyung.
AA
They
brought
it
back
in
the
building
and
actually
left
their
back
baby
doll
with
hyung
real
hot
I.
Believe
Kosta
was
on
Acosta,
don't
care
for
the
black
people
and
he
purposely
target
mark
Brittany,
and
we
know
it.
I
got
a
horse
war
at
me
because
I
want
to
I,
see
a
board
and
said
he
was
not
qualified.
They
had
a
message
supervisor
in
three
positions.
He
only
had
a
ba
did
not
have.
AB
If
we
have
a
complaint
about
a
police
officer,
whether
a
specific
incident
or
just
in
in
general,
about
the
behavior
of
police
officers,
I've
had
to
be
in
contact
with
the
police
two
times
over
the
last
six
years,
where
I
called
them
for
specific
incidents
and
I
had
derogatory
or
unflattering
comments
made
to
me.
In
regard
to
my
reason,
for
calling
the
police
one
of
them
was
when
I
was
sexually
assaulted
by
someone
and
fortunately
was
stopped
before
I
was
raped
and
the
police
said
to
me
it's
too
bad.
AB
In
order
to
get
me
out-
and
this
was
said
with
neighbors
around
me-
and
that
was
not
the
case-
that
policeman
had
no
idea
what
the
situation
was,
but
he
spoke
and
it
ripped
what
I
thought
an
ignorant
manner
towards
me.
I
have
contacted
in
the
past
that
Citizens
Police,
Review,
Board
and
nothing
was
done.
AB
I
have
contacted
the
office
of
municipal
investigation
and
nothing
was
done
so
I
would
think
it
would
be
good
if
the
City
Council
could
put
forth
some
information
on
other
areas,
other
people
or
other
procedures
or
whatever
that
you
can
go
through
in
order
to
get
these
types
of
problems
addressed
because
I'm
beginning
to
understand
now
why?
Sometimes
people
don't
call
the
police,
because
if
you
call
the
police
and
you're
treated
like
that
and
I'm,
not
somebody
who
calls
the
police
frequently.
AB
My
my
contact
with
police
is
usually
saying
hello
to
the
off-duty
policeman
at
John
Eagle.
That's
my
usual
contact
with
them,
so
it
would
be
nice
to
know
what
steps
I
could
take
so
that
somebody
would
at
least
talk
to
these
officers
and
say
this
is
not
how
we
are
supposed
to
conduct
ourselves
with
the
public,
especially
when
this
was
not
a
non-violent
situation
in
either
case.
There's
no
reason
for
me
to
be
treated
into
such
a
manner.
Thank
you
for
your
attention.
He.
AC
Thank
you
guys
for
being
here.
Most
you,
people
know
who
I
am
there's
a
lot
of
porn
videos
out
of
me
that
mr.

mr.

made
fake
poor
videos
I
just
as
the
Pittsburgh
police,
they
refused
they're
even
going
around
so
people
said
it's
me
on
go
up
and
beat
up
for
two
years
straight

knocked

left

I
left
his

me
made
it

AC
The
videos
are
gone,
I
made
copies
friends
of
mine
made
copies,
put
it
out
on
the
internet.
Mr.
Cory
knows
me,
he's
had
tried
to
help
me
out
a
few
times
on
these
kind
of
matters.
Mr.

had
made
my
life
miserable
since
I
turned
him
in
for

you

Pittsburgh,
ripping
you
guys

also
Drug

I
do
have
evidence

videos
of
this

Mr.

Hall
and
Brian
Hall
took
it
down
the
DA's
office.
AC
It
was
gone
before
I.
Even
left
I
made
videos
of
it,
I
stuck
it
on
the
Internet
young
white
police
officers
handcuffed
for
me
for
two
years,
and
nothing
has
been
done
because
of
mr.

Mr.

crust
from
the
a
DA's

which
the

says,

there.
Few
times,
I've
called
other
people
have
called
he
deigns
to
the
phone.
He
has
the
desk
there.
He
has
his
own
number.
Nothing
has
been
done.
AC
This
has
been
going
on
all
since
I
turned
him
in
to
ripping
off
the
city,
make
1.2
million
off
you.
People
and
I
just
want
to
know
one.
How
much
does
go
with
this
I've
been
here?
Citizens
Police,
Review
Board,
no
help.
Oh
I'm
I
won't
help.
They
got
fake

paid

I'm
asking
I

done
nothing

Morning,

you.
All

I'm
calling
I
have
submitted
a
petition
requesting
a
public
hearing
and
I
just
wanted
to
take
that.
Take
an
opportunity
to
briefly
let
people
know
what
the
public
hearing
that
is
being
requested
concerns
and
it
concerns
a
very
serious
issue,
a
matter
for
the
block
population
in
the
black
community
throughout
the
city
of
Pittsburgh
and
that's
regarding
reparations
so
quickly.
AD
steel
colleges,
universities,
medical
facilities,
labor
unions,
so
forth
and
so
on.
They
are
participated
in
and
benefited
from,
the
transatlantic
slave
trade
and
the
legacy
of
Jim
Crow,
as
well
as
what
we
now
refer
to
as
mass
incarceration
all
the
way
up
and
to
the
contemporary
issues
and
problems
around
police
brutality
and
misconduct.
AD
We
really
want
to
call
upon
the
city
of
Pittsburgh
to
convene
a
public
hearing
and
to
really
start
the
process
of
seriously
looking
into
reparations
and
what
reparation
or
justice
would
look
like
for
the
thousands
of
residents
who
currently
live
here
within
the
city
of
Pittsburgh.
So
I'm
going
to
thank
you
for
your
time
and
I
hope
this
will
be
seriously
considered
and
not
just
looked
at
as
a
ploy
or
some
political
opportunity
for
those
who
are
plugged
in
into
the
2020
presidential
election.
AD
However,
you
may
be
plugged
in
this
is
a
very
serious
issue
for
black
America
overall
in
a
very
serious
issue
for
blacks
here
within
the
city.
They
have
already
been
studies
which
indicate
that,
in
order
for
black
people
today
and
2019
to
at
some
point
catch
up
to
the
white
middle
class,
it
would
take
us
an
additional
hundred
to
150
years.
We
cannot
wait
that
long.
Our
grandchildren
cannot
wait
that
long.
So
please
take
this
under
serious
consideration.
Thank
you
again
for
your
time.

Y
Just
want
to
thank
the
administration
for
their
work
on
the
Thaddeus
Stevens
building.
This
is
an
elliot
when
I
was
when
a
couple
years
ago,
we've
had
several
closed
school
buildings
and
we've
had
several
churches
all
closed
all.
At
the
same
time,
and
to
date
this
past
week
we
just
found
out
that
Joey
Porter
and
his
wife
purchased
the
Holy,
Innocents
properties
and
Sheridan,
and
another
person
had
purchased
the
church
itself
to
make
the
church
a
museum.
Y
Joey
Porter
and
his
wife
are
going
to
open
a
community
center
and
Resource
Center
and
some
other
things
for
the
disability
community
as
well
in
Sheridan.
So
with
that
last
piece
of
property
being
sold
every
one
of
those
party,
one
of
our
close
school
buildings
and
churches
are
now
repurposed
and
or
will
be
repurposed
the
Thaddeus
Stevens
building
and
Elliot.
Y
Is
you
know
it
will
be
millions
of
dollars
worth
of
investment
in
that
area
that
hasn't
seen
investment
since
they
redid
the
Overlook
years
ago
and
the
Townsend
park
right
next
door
is
getting
almost
a
million
dollar
renovation.
So,
for
the
first
time
in
decades,
Elliot
is

Y
O
Y
The
administration
is
working
in
Sheridan
alley,
I'm
gonna,
make
sure
people
understand
they're
working
in
all
of
our
17
neighborhoods,
including
Station,
Square
and
ferry
wood,
and
some
other
Westwood
and
some
other
neighborhoods.
So
I
just
want
to
make
sure
people
understand
that
they're
working
in
every
neighborhood
not
just
to
but
to
hook
that
have
not
seen
an
investment
for
decades.
So
I'm
gonna
make
sure
I
say
that
part.
Then
I
want
to
talk
about.
Y
I
want
to
thank
director,
historic
and
chief
Jones,
all
the
Police
Fire
EMS
DPW,
the
crossing
guards
in
the
community,
the
Amir,
the
Red
Cross
and
the
community.
Yesterday,
especially
the
he
shared,
an
American
Legion
for
coming
together.
We
had
a
terrible
fire
in
a
church
shared
in
United,
Methodist
Church,
which
holds
two
churches
actually
an
altar
of
God
ministries
and
the
share
the
United
Methodist
Church.
But
it
also
is
a
hub
for
the
community.
Y
It
has
our
after-school
program
which
I
fund,
which
is
a
the
Sheridan
kids
kids
club,
which
it
has
about
40
kids.
There
would
have
been
one
day
later
that
fire
would
have
had
a
very
different.
It
couldn't
had
a
very
tragic
outcome,
because
the
program
starts
today
at
the
same
time
to
fire
delivery.
So
the
with
that
program
is
is
now
looking
for.
You
know
we're
going
we're
going
to
work
and
find
a
place
for
all
the
programs,
and
we
actually
have
some
offers
already,
but
it
also
is
the
place
where
the
community
dinners
happen.
Y
Had
it
not
been
for
the
quick
response
for
firefighters
but
chief
Jones
and
director
history
were
there
suited
in
helping
right
along
with
everyone
else,
but
you
could
just
see
how
everyone
just
really
I
was
so
proud
of
the
city
of
Pittsburgh,
how
they
just
worked
like
a
well-oiled
machine
from
DPW
and
crossing
guards
to
you
know,
of
course,
our
police,
fire
and
EMS,
and
there
was
a
firefighter
who
was
injured.
So
we
pray
that
he's
recovering
nicely
and
an
arm
injury.
Y
We're
praying
he's
recovering
nicely,
but
the
way
the
community
came
together
speaks
volumes
Sheridan.
You
know,
you
see
so
much
negative
on
the
news
and
you
don't
always
see
what
Sharon
really
is
and
it's
difficult
to
explain
to
people
what
what
they
do
and
Sheridan.
But
yesterday,
when
that
fire
happened,
the
American
Legion
Donny
Schultz,
the
commander,
opened
the
American
Legion
up
and
the
community
immediately
started
coming
down
with
food
water
gatorade
ice.
Y
Anything
they
could
to
provide
for
the
first
responders
and
the
parishioners
of
the
churches
and
a
place
for
them
to
get
to
cool
off
use.
Restrooms
get
something
to
drink,
get
something
to
eat,
and
businesses
like
Sammy's
pizza
on
Nobles,
Town
Road,
that
used
to
be
in
Sheridan
they're.
Now
in
Westwood,
they
donated
tons
of
pizza
for
the
first
responders
and
Sheridan
shop
and
kitchen
donated
20
cases
of
water
cases
of
Gatorade
bags
of
ice.
Y
Unbelievable
amounts
of
ice,
making
sure
that
our
first
responders
and
everyone
from
the
city
and
the
pressures
were
taken
care
of.
So
I
really
want
to
thank
the
community
for
coming
together
and
showing
what
Sheridan
is
really
all
about.
And
it's
a
picture
that
you
can't
capture
on
the
on
the
news.
W
Y
And
it
was
a
little
segment,
but
just
saying
how
that
community
comes
together
is
a
place
that
tells
you,
the
Sheerness
is
still
a
really
very
worthwhile
community
and
has
a
lot
to
offer,
and
it
shows
the
spirit
of
Sheridan
and
so
I
want
to
thank
the
residents
for
all
that
they
did,
but
I
especially
want
to
thank
all
the
first
responders
yesterday
for
for
their
response,
and
they
hopefully
I
mean.
Thankfully
they
contained
the
fire
and
hopefully
will
move
forward.
We
know
some
way
we'll
move
forward.
We
hope
it's
in
the
same
location.
R
E
R
R
Object
barometer
versus
education,
socioeconomic,
even
this
killings
that
are
in
these
neighborhoods.
You
will
see
an
abnormal
amount
of
pain
in
the
african-american
community
because
of
those
historic
trends.
I
also
think
that
we
as
a
city-
although
certainly
we
have
mayor,
who
is
more
committed
to
to
openness
and
and
and
and
diversity
of
any
mayor,
I've
seen,
and
maybe
neither
public
official
I've
seen,
but
we
still
have
a
city
has
not
done
enough
to
recognize
or
respect
african-american
leadership
we
have
not,
and
but
we
are
getting
better
I
thought
a
lot
about.
R
You
know:
Randall
Robinson
wrote
the
book
called
the
debt
also,
it
suggests
that
you
read
the
second
book
called
the
reckoning,
but
the
debt
talks
specifically
about
it
is
the
most
profound
book
on
reparations.
I
believe
are
it
written
around?
Was
a
great
mine
and
I've
thought
about
this.
You
know
a
lot
there's
a
Bible
verse
when
they
came
to
John
the
Baptist.
They
asked
him.
What,
then,
shall
we
do
and
toast
oi
wrote
a
book
about
it?
R
When
he
looked
at
the
Ross
of
slums,
he
had
here's
a
book
with
the
same
title
and
I
thought
about
what
then,
shall
we
do?
What
what
do
we
do
and
I
think
the
answer
for
me
has
been
I
think
we
sent
her.
We
can't
go
backwards
and
I,
don't
believe
that
we're
going
to
give
you
no
dollars
to
every
african-american
in
the
country,
but
what
I
have
tried
to
do
and
will
continue
in
EXCI
have
now
gotten
some
criticism
from
doing.
R
I
have
focused
on
trying
to
rebuild
african-american
communities
in
our
city,
most
African
Americans
live
in
African,
American
communities
and
so
I
believe.
The
answer
to
the
question,
at
least
in
my
career
and
hopefully
I,
want
to
lift
it
up,
as
at
least
a
way
for
too
many
people
is
as
we
as
we
reduced
the
violence
and
as
we
rebuild
african-american
communities.
R
That
to
me
is
the
way
we
begin
not
repay,
but
we
begin
to
have
more
justice
in
our
city
right
when
communities
like
Homewood
and
Larmour
and
Bell
silver
and
the
Hill
District
and
the
Northside.
Well,
we
begin
to
invest
in
those
communities
and
rebuild
them
and
put
housing
and
stop
the
violence
and
news
when
we
transformed
them
from
communities
of
isolated
poverty
and
to
mixed
income
neighborhoods.
R
Even
though
we
will
not
see
the
difference,
some
of
us
in
our
lifetime
between
our
children
and
grandchildren,
they
will
see
a
better
day
and
so
I
want
to
lay
it
down.
As
to
my
thinking
as
to
what
is
my
thinking
and
my
motivation
as
to
what
I
work
I
do
and
why
I
do
it?
I
I
do
understand.
There's
a
history
and
the
history
is
sometime,
clear:
I
have
faced
ugliness
in
my
lifetime.
R
I
am
old
enough
to
have
experienced
direct
overt
racism
in
my
life
in
school,
in
workplace
in
Sharpie
in
my
community,
I've
been
called
all
those
names.
I
have
experienced
it
directly,
but
my
response
does
not
hate,
because
I
don't
think
it's
helpful,
I
think
it's
forgiveness
and
the
path
for
it
is
by
all
of
us,
working
together
to
rebuild
all
neighborhoods
and
so
I
advocate
for
every
neighborhood
I.
Think
all
of
you
will
know
that
I
advocate
for
every
neighborhood.
R
I
have
tried
to
do
this
work
unashamedly
and
for
the
last
12
years
on
council
I
have
tried
to
do
this
work
to
rebuild
neighborhoods,
because
I
believed
it
was
the
greatest
impact
that
our
children
and
grandchildren
would
have
and
I
think
that's
right
and
so
I'll
stop
talking.
But
I
wanted
to
lease
since
we're
going
to
have
a
public
hearing
and
I,
don't
want
to
say
this
there
and
we'll
probably
have
this
conversation
over.
You
know
many
many
weeks
and
months.
R
B
Thank
You
Councilwoman
anything
further
from
members.
I'll,
add
very
briefly
this
coming
Saturday.
We
won't
be
hosting
the
fourth
annual
Walk
for
recovery.
We
over
the
years
we've
had
I
would
argue,
probably
six
to
eight
thousand
people
that
have
attended
you're,
welcome
to
come
down
and
March
with
us.
We
meet
at
10:00
a.m.
we'll
