A
Good
afternoon
and
welcome
to
pittsburg
city
council's
post
public
hearing
regarding
the
state
of
emergency
in
schools.
Madam
clerk,
will
you
please
read
the
purpose
of
the
hearing.
A
You
and
I'm
going
to
say
who
we're
joined
with
we're,
not
joined
yet
by
members,
but
I
know
that
some
will
probably
be
getting
on
and
madame
clark.
Can
you
please
read
the
first
speaker.
Please
call
the
first
speaker
please.
A
A
A
A
B
Be
safe.
Absolutely
thank
you
for
the
opportunity.
My
title
is
ikahana
hal
makina,
I
am
the
grand
inca,
the
iroquois
confederacy
of
aboriginal
american
people,
and
I
don't
have
the
ability
to
read
the
speech
that
I
prepared.
So
I
will
just
speak
very
candidly
about
the
state
of
emergency
in
regards
to
the
education
realm
of
of
everything.
B
I
really
want
to
speak
to
that,
because
there
are
some
unknowns
that
are
being
observed
as
far
as
the
virtual
reality-
and
I
myself
am
a
homeschooling
parent
at
times,
and
I
moonlight
with
homeschooling
and
actually
enrolling
my
children
into
a
charter
school
and
I've
watched
my
own
children,
who
were
straight
a
student
become
sailing
students
according
to
the
guidelines
that
are
set
forth
for
the
educational
system,
that
don't
pair
and
match
with
the
virtual
reality
of
things,
there's
already
a
disparity
and
an
extreme
difference
in
public
schools
versus
private,
and
I
would
go
as
far
as
to
say
charter
schools
as
well,
where
there
shouldn't
be.
B
I
think
we
should
focus
on
getting
the
right
teachers
into
these
positions,
no
matter
what
it
is,
what
type
of
school,
public,
private
or
charter
it's
a
matter
of
having
quality
teachers
at
the
end
of
the
day,
a
teacher
who's
able
to
teach
in
more
than
one
method
have
a
versatile
approach
to
their
teaching
would
definitely
be
a
recipe
for
success
for
any
child.
Despite
their
learning
capabilities
or
lack
thereof.
B
We
just
need
quality
teachers,
and
I
think
you
should
put
into
a
budget
in
order
to
get
these
quality
teachers
they
would
need
to
be
compensated
fully
compensated
for
their
skill
set,
and
so
there
shouldn't
be
this
disparity
in
education.
There
shouldn't
be
this
classism
if
you
will
in
an
educational
system
to
begin
with,
and
I
think
that
is
the
root
of
the
problem
that
is
being
experienced
through
public
school
systems.
B
There's
the
disparity
in
having
an
a
qualified
teacher
to
teach
these
students
and
these
children
deserve
to
be
taught
well
and
it
shouldn't
matter
whether
they
their
parents
are
able
to
afford
private
versus
public
school.
As
reverend
burgess
expressed
that
you
know
it
was
quite
a
burden
even
on
himself
to
put
his
children
through
private
schooling,
but
he
was
willing
to
take
the
risk
in
order
to
produce
quality
education
for
his
children
and
not
everyone's
able
to
do
that.
A
A
A
A
I
I,
madam
clerk,
I
think
it's
is
it
next
week
or
the
week
after
it's
next
week.
Okay
I'll
hold
my
phones
until
then
yeah.
A
B
A
So
with
that
said,
I
will
just
ask
for
a
motion
to
adjourn
the
meeting.
