Description
Bills #2023-1157 & #2023-1181: renaming Herschel Park Field & Chartiers Field
A
A
Good
afternoon
and
welcome
to
the
city
council,
cable,
cast
public
hearing
regarding
field
renaming
for
Elliott
West
End
Athletic
Association
for
the
Herschel
Field
Park
field
to
be
named
the
lower
field
as
the
Danbury
field
and
the
second
one
will
be
for
Chartiers
field
and
Chartiers
win
Gap
field
to
be
named
structures
when
gut
field.
I'm.
Sorry,
do
you
want
to
read
the
purpose
of
the.
B
A
You
and
I'm
going
to
start
out
we're
going
to
start
with
Chartiers
since
the
president,
the
community
group
is
here.
Leanna.
Do
you
want
to
come
to
the
podium?
Please
state
your
name
and
neighborhood
for
the
record,
and
you
have
three
minutes
to
speak
when
the
yellow
light
comes
on.
You
have
one
minute
to
summarize.
C
C
My
immediate
family
is
also
to
spend
their
lives
entire
lives
there
living
well
past
their
60s
and
90s
in
this
community.
C
But
my
question
is:
why
is
at
this
time
as
a
child
I
remember
going
to
Charter
School
I
played
in
the
park,
but
I
have
older
brothers,
who
did
say
that
The
Wind,
Gap
side
of
the
community
did
initiate
the
park
and
did
have
a
baseball
team
named
Wind
Gap
I
have
no
memory
of
the
field
actually
being
named
Wind
Gap,
but
as
today,
I
just
watched,
all
of
us
will
come
to
the
as
one
as
one
Community
as
a
Civic
Club
member.
A
A
Okay,
seeing
no
further
speakers
for
Chartiers
we'll
move
on
to
the
next
hearing,
and
that
is
for
the
the
renaming
of
lower
Herschel
Park
field
as
the
Danbury
field?
Is
there
any
with
the
first
registered
speaker?
We
have
is
Thomas
spife
Thomas.
Do
you
want
to
approached
the
podium?
Please
please
state
your
name
and
neighborhood
for
the
record.
You
have
three
minutes
to
speak
when
the
yellow
light
comes
on.
You
have
one
minute
to
summarize.
Thank
you.
My.
D
Name
is
Todd
Fife
I'm,
a
former
city
resident
and
I
heard
the
good
news
about
the
renaming
of
the
field.
It's
really
a
proper
thing
to
do
Dan,
but
so
much
work
and
love
into
that.
You
know
Endeavor
over
many
many
years.
You
know
it's
really
nice
that
it's
going
to
carry
his
name
I,
think
it's
a
a
really
big
deal
and
I'm
real
happy
for
him
and
whatever
impetus
was
behind
it
I'm
grateful
to
those
people
for
getting
it
to
this
stage.
D
Of
knowing
how
many
young
many
may
have
helped
over
the
years,
he's
pretty
influential
guy,
so
I
can't
help,
but
thank
a
lot
of
these
kids
stayed
on
a
straight
and
narrow
because
of
his
example
and
his
support.
D
So
it's
really
a
good
day
for
him
and
from
for
me
to
thank
you.
A
F
Thank
you.
My
name
is
Dan
Berry
I
grew
up
across
from
Herschel
field,
I
mean
exactly
across
from
Herschel
field.
E
And
I
I
want
to
say,
I
think
it's
an
excellent
idea.
Adding
Wind
Gap
in
at
the
field
I
played
baseball
down
there
when
I
was
a
kid,
never
understood
why
it
wasn't
called
Wind
Gap,
but
great
idea.
F
You
know
I
I
got
involved
right
after
the
military,
with
the
little
league
Foundation
back,
then
it
was
only
known
as
Elliott
Little
League.
F
We
we
extended
it
into
Elliot
West
End,
and
it
was
a
real
pleasure
to
work
and
watch
the
project
of
watching
The
League
grow
as
big
as
it
is.
F
This
is
our
60th
anniversary,
Elliott
Little
League
was
formed
in
1963
and
it's
it's
a
great
tribute
to
think
of
the
fact
that
it's
been
going
on
strong
for
60
straight
years,
and
it's
a
great
honor
for
me
to
even
be
considered.
They
have
a
field
named
after
me.
I
certainly
didn't
get
involved
with
with
doing
this.
F
For
that
reason,
I
just
love,
kids
and
I
like
being
around
kids,
never
even
thought
of
what
like
Tom
said,
how
much
you
you
contribute
to
changing
kids,
attitudes
or
kids
that
don't
have
fathers
how
they
look
up
to
you
later.
You
find
that
it's
a
great
tribute
and
I
want
to
thank
you
for
this.
Consider
operation.
A
Thank
you
and
thank
you
for
your
work
in
the
community.
Anyone
any
further
speakers,
but
that
said
I
just
say
that
if
you
don't
remember
when
Gap
Chartiers
being
called
Wind,
Gap
short
tears,
then
I'm
really
worried,
because
that's
one
of
the
things
somebody
said
to
me
when
they
wanted
to
change
the
name.
They
said
it
was
always
Wind,
Gap
short
tears,
but
the
city
took
off
Wind
Gap
and
that
we
want
to
be
one
community,
so
I,
hopefully
either
they
do
come
to
your
meetings,
because
you
do
amazing
work
matter
of
fact.
A
We
spoke
today
about
church
or
city
during
our
meeting
and
what
a
great
neighborhood
it
is
and
how
it
is
predominantly
black.
The
highest
home
ownership
in
the
city
of
Pittsburgh,
90
of
the
properties
and
Chartiers
are
homeowner
occupied
homes,
low
crime
and
the
credit
goes
to
the
community
group,
which
you
are
now
the
chairperson,
so
I
just
want
us
our
present,
so
I
do
want
to
say
you've
done
a
great
job
there
in
the
community.
So
thank
you
for
your
work.
There
and
I
know
you'll
bring
everyone
together.
A
If
you
can
and
I
just
want
to
say,
Mr
Berry,
thank
you
so
much
for
the
work
that
you've
done.
Our
kids
went
to
school
together,
Mr
Fife,
but
several
copies
of
your
book.
A
Yes,
he
wrote
a
book
about
the
veterans
in
in
in
our
area
and
that
could
be
that
went
off
to
Vietnam
War.
So
I
just
want
to.
Thank
you
all,
because
a
lot
of
you
came
back
and
you
gave
back
to
the
community
even
further
and
you
Mr
Berry,
with
helping
the
kids
in
the
community
and
coaching
them
for
years
and
I
do
know
they
they
think
of
you
very
highly.
A
So
with
that
said,
this
will
be
on
the
agenda
for
Madam
clerk
would
be
Monday
or
Tuesday
for
final
vote
or
back
to
committee
on
Wednesday,
okay,
so
we'll
be
back
to
our
committee
on
our
standing
committee's
meeting
on
Wednesday
final
vote
will
be
a
week
from
there
for
them.
Okay,
thank
you,
madam
clerk,
for
that.
That's
it
I'm
going
to
join
the
meeting
is
adjourned
or
the
this
business
is
over.
So
thank
you
all
for
attending
and
for
speaking
meeting
adjourned.
