From YouTube: Burgh's Eye View: Use Case - Public Safety
Description
No description was provided for this meeting.
If this is YOUR meeting, an easy way to fix this is to add a description to your video, wherever mtngs.io found it (probably YouTube).
A
A
To
get
started,
let's
look
at
the
map.
Remember
the
map
responds
as
you
search
for
select
or
click
the
data
you
want
to
see.
Let's
say
we
came
to
birds
eye
view
with
a
specific
public
safety
question.
Perhaps
we
heard
that
there
were
a
few
deaths
in
the
neighborhoods
over
the
last
month
and
wanted
to
verify
what
we
heard
give
information
about
the
number
of
stuff,
what
kind
of
thefts
they
were
and
what
time
of
day
most
of
them
seemed
to
occur.
A
First,
let's
make
sure
the
relevant
filters
are
turned
on,
since
we
want
to
see
public
safety
data,
let's
uncheck
311
requests,
as
well
as
code
violations
and
city
facilities.
Next,
let's
change
the
date
range.
We
only
want
to
see
information
from
the
past
month.
Now,
let's
look
under
the
police
blotter
section.
The
hierarchy
box
is
where
you'll
find
26
different
types
of
crime
data
used
by
IV,
Pittsburgh
police.
We
could
scroll
down,
define
the
type
31
or
just
start
typing
what
we
want
in
the
box.
Let's
start
to
type
theft.
A
Okay,
two
types
of
theft
are
popping
up:
theft
and
vehicle
theft.
Let's
say
we're
interested
in
both
types:
let's
first
choose
theft
and
then
type
in
theft
again
and
choose
vehicle
theft.
Next
now,
let's
say
we
live
in
the
strip
district
and
just
want
to
see
sesam
that
neighborhood
in
the
filter
by
area
section
in
the
neighborhood
box,
you
can
scroll
down
and
select
the
neighborhood
name
or
just
start
typing
it
great
there.
It
is,
let's
select
the
Strip
District.
A
Now
we
see
on
the
map
all
of
the
thefts
over
the
past
month
that
have
been
documented
by
the
Pittsburgh
Bureau
of
police.
We
see
a
few
clusters.
These
are
the
colored
circles.
The
circle
with
ten
means,
for
example,
that
there's
a
cluster
of
ten
things
to
look
at
in
that
area.
Let's
click
on
the
ten
see
how
it
automatically
zooms
in
on
that
area,
you
can
click
on
any
of
the
pins
for
more
information.
Let's
click
on
one
and
see
what
we
can
learn.
A
Okay
here
we
see
that
this
incident
was
reported
as
a
vehicle
theft
and
that
it
was
recorded
by
the
Bureau
of
police
at
1pm
in
the
afternoon
on
own
a
house
christmas.
We
see
a
location
but
remember
that,
in
order
to
protect
privacy,
that's
not
the
exact
location.
This
kind
of
information
is
generalized
to
the
block
level
and
certain
types
of
crimes
are
only
listed
by
neighborhood.
A
A
Interesting
most
of
the
stuff
seemed
to
happen
at
one
of
two
times
a
day
around
the
middle
of
the
day
or
late
evening,
hours
before
midnight.
While
this
isn't
scientific,
it
could
give
us
a
sense
of
at
least
over
the
past
month
when
Seth
generally
happened
in
this
area.
There
might
be
many
reasons
for
this.
Perhaps
these
are
the
times
when
this
area
is
the
busiest
have
questions
need
help
or
have
feedback
