Mayor William Peduto and the City of Pittsburgh today issued the first "Sophie Masloff Award" for Employee of the Month, issuing the distinction to Tyrone Clark of the Department of Public Works.
Tyrone Clark has served the City and DPW since December 15, 2003. He has often put the safety and prosperity of the City of Pittsburgh before his own personal life, showing a true and honest dedication to the well-being of others.
Tyrone has been a dedicated servant to the department, working his way from the position of Laborer to Foreman. He is admired and revered for his continuous dedication to better serve the residents and guests of the City of Pittsburgh.
Mr. Clark received a proclamation today from Mayor Peduto in recognition of all his hard work and dedication.

mayor
decided
that
we
would
give
an
award
to
the
outstanding
employee
of
month
award

various
city
employees,

it
was
determined
that
mr.
Clark,
you
deserve
the
first
award,

first

you
on
this
award

for
being
here
and
all
the
things
that
you
do
in
public
works.

way

we
could
honor
her,
we
thought
why
not
honor
the
employees
of
the
city
of
Pittsburgh
and
create

Sophie
masloff
award
so
that
every
month
we
can
highlight
those
who
have
worked
behind
the
scenes.
Who've
dedicated
themselves
to
helping
others
and
have
made
the
city
a
better
place
because
of
the
work
and
effort
that
they
put
in
mr.
Clark
and
I
haven't
really
had
the
opportunity
to
formally
say
thank
you.

probably
nothing
highlighted
that
as
much
as
during
the
snowstorm
that
we
saw
earlier
this
year,
where
he
had
committed
to
putting
in
a
12-hour
shift
only
to
have
the
tragedy
of
losing
his
mother
and
then
deciding
that
he
had
a
commitment
to
the
people
of
Pittsburgh
to
keep
them
safe
in
getting
in
that
truck
and
working
a
12-hour
shift.
That
type
of
dedication
should
recognized
by
every
person
in
the
city
of
Pittsburgh.

should
be
the
calling
card
that
people
understand
when
they
see
somebody
wearing
a
uniform
of
the
city
of
Pittsburgh,
that
they
realized
that
these
are
the
backbone
of
keeping
this
city
moving,
that
it
doesn't
happen
without
Tyrone
Clark.
It
only
happens
because
we
are
blessed
to
have
people
like
this
who
have
dedicated
their
lives
to
public
service.
