From YouTube: Gender Equity Commission Meeting - 4/19/22
Description
No description was provided for this meeting.
If this is YOUR meeting, an easy way to fix this is to add a description to your video, wherever mtngs.io found it (probably YouTube).
A
Alrighty
good
afternoon
pittsburghers
to
the
welcome
to
the
april
2022
gender
equity
commission
meeting.
My
name
is
morgan
overton.
I
currently
serve
as
acting
chair
of
the
commission
and,
as
usual,
we're
going
to
kick
off
today's
meeting
with
a
roll
call.
So
I'm
here,
commissioner
hale.
A
Sorry,
thank
you
for
unmuting
and
being
present.
Commissioner
coffee
president
commissioner
manuel
present
and
commissioner
raymie
present
all
right.
We
got
a
nice
little
cozy
group
with
us
today,
y'all,
so
today's
session
is
going
to
be
short,
sweet
and
to
the
point,
because
it's
going
to
serve
as
a
call
to
action
to
all
of
you,
because
we
cannot
do
this
work
without
any
of
you.
A
If
you
joined
us
for
our
previous
gender
equity
commission
meeting
last
month,
we
had
the
honor
of
having
passed
and
present
commissioners
join
us
to
talk
about
the
road
to
where
we
are
now
as
a
commission,
how
we
began
our
pivotal
reports
and
how
we
are
leveraging
community
in
response
to
those
reports
and
very
importantly,
we
were
very
honored
to
have
mayor
gainey,
join
us
and
express
his
commitment
to
embedding
gender
equity
at
all
angles
of
government
governing
and
co-governing
with
the
community,
and
so
we
really
want
to
hold
gratitude
for
the
mayor
for
joining
us
and
his
continued
commitment
and
partnership
with
us
in
this
work,
and
so
with
that
being
said.
A
So,
if
you
want
to
join
us
to
share
your
tidbits
about
your
experience
in
gender
equity
in
pittsburgh,
please
we
want
to
hear
about
it.
We
cannot
do
anything
without
you.
We
also
can't
do
anything
without
a
transition
report,
so
we
are
very
excited
for
the
gainey
transition
team
when
the
time
comes
to
release
their
transition
report
to
the
mayor,
because
that
will
give
us
guidance
in
the
work
that
we
do.
A
But
in
the
meantime
we
are
still
here.
We
are
still
heavily
at
work,
and
that
is
why
I'm
going
to
go
to
our
committees
to
provide
any
report
outs
of
what
has
been
cooking
behind
the
scenes
so
miss
janet.
Would
you
like
to
speak
on
behalf
of
the
workforce
equity
committee?
A
C
You
acting
chair
overton.
I
appreciate
it
so
for
those
of
you
that
had
the
opportunity
to
participate
in
any
of
our
workforce
equity
training
sessions,
let
me
remind
you,
they
are
still
free.
We
will
start
the
training
sessions
again
starting
next
month
during
the
month
of
may,
you
will
be
able
to
find
more
information
on
the
gender
equity
commission
website
announcing
the
date
the
time
and
the
link
that
is
provided
for
you
to
join
us.
It
is
only
for
one
hour.
We
are
still
going
to
conduct
the
trainings
remotely
they
will
be
online.
C
C
This
training
is
going
to
equip
you
with
the
what
I
call
the
ksa's
knowledge,
skills
and
abilities
of
how
to
increase
your
compensation.
Ask
and
we're
going
to
share
tips
of
information
of
how
to
recognize
your
worth
know
your
worth,
how
to
express
what
your
skill
sets
are.
So
when
it
comes
to
you
asking
for
that
compensation,
you
will
be
well
equipped
and
you
will
be
able
to
back
it
up
with
actual
examples
of
work,
performance,
skill
sets,
etc.
C
C
Another
thing
regarding
workforce
equity,
you
will
hear
more
so
stay
tuned.
Make
sure
you
pay
close
attention
and
get
on
our
website
as
we're
going
to
be
having
more
flyer
announcements
of
upcoming
partners
that
the
city
of
pittsburgh
gec
is
going
to
be
working
with
to
help
on
other
aspects
of
workforce
equity?
C
If
any
of
you
are
ever
in
need
of
improving
your
resume
or
learning
how
to
write
a
resume?
How
to
prepare
for
interview,
we
are
going
to
be
having
specific
partners
and
making
those
sessions
again,
they're
going
to
be
virtual
for
the
moment,
but
we
hope
within
the
next
several
months,
we'll
be
able
to
do
a
lot
of
these
things
in
person.
D
Good
afternoon,
everyone,
the
committee
has
been
meeting
recently
to
talk
about
some
openings
that
exist
both
on
the
commission,
but
also
within
the
executive
committee,
and
so
we
are
currently
seeking
a
commissioner
to
become
the
chair
of
the
commission
as
well
as
now,
the
second
vice
chair
and
so
working
on
those
items.
D
As
well
as
trying
to
work
with
the
mayor's
office
to
understand
what
commissioners
we
will
have
appointed
to
the
commission
and
then
finally,
thinking
about
some
opportunities
to
have
speakers
or
to
continue
to
advance
advance
from
the
policy
recommendations
that
have
been
put
in
place.
So
that's
what's
going
on
with
governance,
leadership
and
development.
A
So
thank
you,
sarah.
If
you're
watching
this,
we
appreciate
you,
commissioner
hill.
I
know
you
didn't
have
too
much
to
report
out,
but
I
do
want
to
give
you
space
just
in
case.
You
had
anything
last
minute.
B
Sure
so,
just
from
the
pittsburgh
farcita
and
allegheny
for
cdog
group,
I
can
report
that
the
un
commission
on
the
status
of
women
had
their
annual
meeting
in
march
in
new
york
city
and
there's
also
a
non-government
organization,
csw
forum
that
parallels
that
event.
So
that
happened
last
month
in
terms
of
the
sea
dog
group.
We
did
not
have
our
april
meeting
because
it
was
right
immediately
before
passover
and
good
friday
easter
holidays.
B
So
I
did
that
in
on
march
19th
and
22nd
last
month,
and
also
we
were
lauded
at
that
for
at
those
forums,
because
we
are
still
the
only
city
or
county
that
has
implemented
a
cdaw
law
that
uses
the
term
intersectional
in
our
ordinance
in
our
local
ordinance.
So
ncr
again
is
the
convention
on
the
elimination
of
all
forms
of
discrimination
against
women.
B
The
gender
analysis
committee
and
I
think
I'm
the
only
person
currently
on
the
commission-
that
was
a
member
of
that
we
did
come
up
with
recommendations
that
we
provided
in
december
for
the
executive
committee
to
review
and
incorporate
in
recommendations
for
this
year
to
provide
to
the
mayor,
ed
gainey's
administration,
and
we
don't
have
updates
on
that
at
this
time.
Okay,.
A
Thank
you
and
speaking
of
recommendations.
The
gender
equity
commission
has
authored
our
own
series
of
policy
recommendations
that
we
have
submitted
to
the
gainey
transition
team
to
aid
in
their
efforts
to
make
city
government
more
gender
and
intersectionally
equitable.
So
I
just
want
the
public
to
know
about
that.
A
So
thank
you
committee
members
for
sharing
out,
what's
going
on
in
your
particular
buckets,
and
also
I
want
to
make
space
for
any
of
you
if
you
know
of
any
upcoming
community
events
or
engagements
that
the
public
should
know
about.
If
there's
anything
going
on
on
the
horizon,
I
know
that
I
tend
to
know
about
things
last
minute
or
until
after
it
happened,
because
that's
how
pittsburgh
works
so
is
anything
going
on
in
pittsburgh
that
the
people
should
know
about.
E
I
guess
a
couple
of
things:
I
wanted
to
remind
us
that
we
are
in
sexual
assault
awareness
month
right
now
in
april,
which
obviously
gender
and
sexual
violence
prevention
being
an
issue
near
and
dear
to
many
of
our
hearts
and
very
core
to
gender
equity
and
not
particularly
something
we've
had
a
long
time
to
talk
about
in
terms
of
policy
recommendations.
E
But
I
just
wanted
to
look
that
up
and
I
believe
we
did
not
mention
last
month,
but
we've
just
passed
transvisibility
day,
and
so
I
just
wanted
to
remind
us
that
that
was
on
our
calendar.
I
do
know
coming
up
in
may.
Several
of
our
community
partners
have
major
fundraising,
galas
gwen's
girls
headed
by
kathy
elliott,
who
is
a
founding
member
of
the
gender
equity
commission,
has
its
gala
coming
up
very
shortly.
E
In
fact,
I
can
give
you
the
date,
because
I'm
on
that
planning
committee-
okay,
thank
you,
may
may
12th
the
next
night.
The
women's
law
project
has
its
annual
rights
to
reality,
fundraising
event
and
then
in
sisterhood
pittsburgh's.
Women's
movement,
history
organization
is
having
its
cocktail
hour
at
five
o'clock.
So
three
different
gender
equity
related
events
from
our
community
partners
that
I
know
about
coming
up
in
may.
D
Thank
you
back
on
to
that
healthy
star
is
having
their
maternal
and
child
health.
Scholar
on
on
may
19th
until
we're
right
we're
coming
off
to
the
heels
of
black
maternal
health
week,
so
that
is,
may
19th
healthcare.
A
A
All
righty,
thank
you.
Everyone
are
there
any
other
pieces
of
information
to
be
shared
out
with
the
commission
or
for
our
viewers
that
can
be
more
events,
announcements,
anything
across
the
board.
A
Yes,
janet.
C
So
last
month,
during
our
celebration,
I
highlighted
from
our
2019
report
about
the
the
10
areas
of
focus
that
was
recommended
and
one
had
to
deal
with.
Number
six
was
about
the
tobacco-related
deaths.
So
in
the
month
of
may
there
will
be
more
information,
we're
going
to
be
posting
it
soon
as
a
education
series
from
the
gec
to
the
public,
a
smoking
cessation
course
that
is
going
to
be
offered
for
free.
C
We
will
have
a
registration,
but
that
is
what
we're
the
work
that
we,
the
gec,
are
doing
to
help
address
one
of
those
respective
indicators
that
we
can
focus
on
and
discuss
and
provide
education
and
assistance,
because
that
that's
just
one
of
the
10
for
rooms
of
improvement
to
make
the
city
of
pittsburgh
a
more
livable
city.
So
that
is
going
to
be
forthcoming.
On
behalf
of
the
gec,
we
will
be
sending
all
that
information
out.
C
It
will
be
posted
on
our
respective
website
and
we'll
share
it
in
our
social
media
and
once
it's
posted
people
can
share
it
on
their
social
media
and
invite
others
to
attend.
But
that
will
be
scheduled
in
may.
We
are
lining
up
the
dates
and
times,
but
that
is
forthcoming.
So
it's
a
follow-up
from
last
month
we
said
that
we
were
going
to
focus
on
the
10
indicators.
We've
already
been
focusing
on
the
pay
aspect
of
it,
but
then
looking
at
those
other
six
and
tobacco-related
deaths
was
one
of
them.
A
E
D
A
Yeah
I'm
here
for
it,
the
mouth
is
exactly
I
love
it
and
I
love.
I
love
how
we
are
raising
up
our
partners
in
this
work,
because
you
know
they've
been
in
the
trenches
of
this
work
for
forever.
So
it's
important
that
we
we
speak
on
them
and
honor
them
in
this
space,
any
other
announcements
or
anything
to
share
with
the
public
or
with
fellow
commissioners.
A
I
feel
like
the
events
were
enough,
but,
as
mentioned
before,
we
again
want
to
raise
up
those
in
our
community
and
beyond,
who
are
committed
to
this
work
for
gender
justice,
and
so,
as
we
are
in
a
period
of
transition
with
a
new
administration
building
our
partnership
with
city
council,
and
we
await
directions
for
policy
advocacy.
We
want
to
hear
from
you.
So
if
you
are
interested
in
serving
as
a
guest
speaker
at
one
of
our
monthly
meetings,
you
can
email
us
genderequity
pittsburghpa.gov.
A
Does
anybody
else
have
any
other
announcements
or
anything
before
I
ask
if
there's
any
public
comment,
I
told
you
today
is
going
to
be
short,
sweet
and
to
the
point,
it's
our
call
to
action
session.
Yes,
jessie.
E
A
Do
double
minutes
to
make
sure
I
think
we'll
we'll
need
some
time
to
review
last
month's
minutes,
because
there's
a
lot
going
on
so
that'll
be
reserved
for
next
month.
Thank
you,
jesse.
A
All
right,
our
friends
at
this
city
are:
is
there
any
public
comment?
A
Okay
and
again,
typically,
we
have
policy
updates
from
the
mayor's
office
at
our
sessions.
But
again
we
are
in
transition,
and
I
guess
that's
also
a
time
for
me
to
announce
that
I
have
joined
mayor
guinea's
administration,
so
yay,
I'm
very
excited.
So
again.
I
will
obviously
have
a
pulse
on
any
updates
on
that
front
as
we
receive
direction
from
our
wonderful
transition
team,
but
if
there
isn't
anything
else
for
the
good
of
the
order,
we
can
adjourn
early.
