A
The
work
that
we're
doing
benefits
all
people
in
all
communities-
my
name
is
Bill
jeanerette
I
am
the
CEO
of
an
organization
called
urban
innovation
21,
and
we
run
a
program
called
the
Pittsburgh
central
keystone
innovation
zone.
We
were
started
in
2007
with
the
goal
of
making
sure
that
a
lot
of
the
good
stuff
that
was
happening
in
tech
actually
went
out
into
the
neighborhoods
and
so
very
excited
2007.
A
You
have
a
lot
of
economic
development
that
happens
and
so
that
sort
of
our
our
joint
joint
joint
story.
So
again,
if
clusters
of
high-growth
entrepreneurs
move
to
and
start
or
grow
in
the
area,
a
lot
of
great
things
happen
and
we're
seeing
that
in
uptown
in
the
Hill
District,
it's
a
process,
but
some
really
good
stuff
is
is
happening.
A
So
the
incense
we
have
there's
a
direct
cash
instead
of
a
tax
credit
that
goes
to
company,
so
about
four
million
dollars
in
cash
it
going
to
entrepreneurs
that
have
been
located
in
the
Keystone
innovation
zone.
We
have
a
grant
pro,
graham,
where
we've
provides
seed,
small
small
small
seed
grants
on
the
tune
of
about
four
hundred
twelve
thousand
dollars.
A
We
also
have
a
very
robust
internship
program,
this
slides
a
little
dated,
but
we
provided
396
internships,
paid
internships
for
students
from
duquesne,
Point,
Park,
Carlo
and
CCAC
to
work
for
innovation
companies
and
what
I'm
most
excited
about
that
is
about.
Sixty
percent
of
the
participants
are
women
in
about
fifty
percent
or
african-americans,
and
that's
a
something
that
you
don't
see.
So
we
talked
about
spreading
this
to
communities.
Yet
we
have
to
be
intentional,
and
so
that's
what
our
work
is.
A
Something
else
that
we
started
doing
the
last
couple
years
was
helping
residents
start
businesses
that
could
somehow
feed
into
the
ecosystem,
because
what
we
saw
was
we
saw
a
lot
of
great
stuff
happening,
but
we
really
didn't
see
feel
like
the
residents
could
participate.
So
we've
provided
a
bunch
of
incentives
to
help
do
that.
A
So
we
work
with
you,
know
hundreds
of
community-based
entrepreneurs
a
year
through
grant
competitions
where
we
give
out
about
two
hundred
thousand
dollars
in
grants
and
then
provide
wraparound
services
to
a
variety
of
community
based
businesses.
All
with
the
goal
of
creating
an
inclusive
eco
system.
A
So
here
this
is
the
Hill
District
in
an
uptown,
and
some
great
development
has
happened
in
that
community
since
2007,
a
lot
of
players
have
worked
on
helping
to
make
that
happen.
The
role
that
startup
town
and
some
other
of
the
real
estate
entities
that
how
some
of
the
companies
are
really
the
driving
force
in
a
lot
of
this
development.
