Description
Watch this edition of Aiken This Week where we speak with those individuals who played a major role in securing the Lieutenant Governor's Office on Aging Grant for Permanent Improvement Programs, which will enable the development of the Eustis Park Senior Center
A
Welcome
taken
this
week,
I'm
in
real
angst
and
I
have
a
number
of
guests
with
me
today
and
we're
going
to
be
talking
about
a
project
that
has
been
a
long
time
coming.
Our
Eustis
Park
Senior
Center,
today
I'm
being
joined
up
here,
Seiken,
who
has
a
city
engineer
and
project
manager,
joy,
Gillespie,
who's,
our
capital
project
sales,
tax
manager
for
the
city
of
a
Jen,
Kim
Scott,
who
is
with
Cheatham
Fletcher,
Scott,
architect,
Marybeth
fields,
who
is
the
senior
and
disability
program
manager
for
the
lower
Savannah
Council
on
Aging
and
Jessica
Campbell?
A
Who
is
our
director
of
Parks
and
Recreation
for
the
city
of
Aiken?
Thank
you
all.
This
is
a
big
crowd
today,
but
what
an
exciting
day
so
I'm
going
to
start
with
you
here
enjoy
and
behind
us.
We
see
this
this
site,
and
can
you
tell
us
about
what
was
once
on
this
site
and
what
we
have
done
to
get
to
where
we
are
today
sure.
B
C
A
D
It's
a
Embry,
it's
gonna
be
a
lot
different
than
what
was
here.
The
old
Ponte
huts
are
gone
and
so
we're
gonna
have
a
nice
building,
it's
residential
in
nature
and
style.
We
wanted
to
blend
in
with
the
neighborhood
with
the
houses
nearby.
Here
we
didn't
want
a
large
overpowering
commercial
building,
take
it
over
the
site.
D
Building
overall
is
about
twelve
thousand
square
feet
in
size.
We
have.
The
central
hall
is
one
large
room
that
can
be
so
divided
into
three
smaller
spaces,
so
it
gives
Jessica
a
lot
of
flexibility
on
how
she
can
program
the
spaces,
but
the
large
hall
can
accommodate
close
to
300
people
at
a
nice
round,
seedy
table
seating,
and
so
but
then
it
can
set
be
subdivided
for
classes
whatever
she
programs
in
there.
A
E
Emory,
this
is
a
partnership
we
received
funding
through
the
lieutenant
governor's
office
on
Aging,
with
their
permanent
improvement
project
money,
which
is
a
tax
revenue
receiving
doctor,
bingo
tax
and
so
on
the
city
of
Aiken.
We
knew
that
gullibility.
We
used
to
spark
senior
community
center.
Instead,
when
the
board
announced
our
the
grant,
announcement
came
out.
We
let
this
view
take
in
there
that
this
was
an
opportunity
for
them
and
they
submitted
an
application
which
we
support
it
fully.
E
A
B
B
A
B
We
are
super
excited
to
have
fun
already
some
work
within
the
park,
part
of
that
is
tennis
court
resurfacing
and
the
addition
of
for
tickle
bone
courts,
which
is
a
really
popular
sport
for
our
senior
community.
Here
in
Hagan,
we
have
a
playground
project
underway,
and
that
should
be
here
within
the
next
few
weeks
and
we
have
to
continue
to
improve
whether
it
be
the
walking
trails
or
picnic
areas
so
that
this
can
really
connect
to
the
new
community
center
and
the
space.
That's
utilized
it.
Coaches,
wonderful,.
A
I
can't
thank
you
enough
for
being
here
today
you
what
a
team
this
has
been
and
what
an
effort
it
has
been
for
the
community,
and
so
we
hope
that
everyone
will
keep
up
with
the
progress
of
this
wonderful
project
as
we
start
off
and
come
out
and
enjoy
the
new
renovated
portion
of
the
outdoor
park
and
we'll
look
having
a
new
brand
new
facility
here
in
the
near
future.
We
thank
you
for
being
with
us
breaking
this
week
and
we'll
see
you
next
time.
