Description
For this edition of Aiken This Week, we're chatting with Tourism Coordinator Mary Rosbach and with Aiken Downtown Development Association's Haley Knight about all of the events both organizations are putting on in the next few festive weeks.
B
For
us
this
year
sure
well,
first,
is
the
annual
downtown
tree
lighting
next
Friday
evening,
December
1st
at
6
p.m.
on
Newbury
Street.
This
is
the
29th
annual
tree
lighting.
So
that's
pretty
incredible.
Santa
and
mrs.
Claus
will
make
an
appearance.
There
will
be
refreshments
and
music,
so
it's
just
a
fun
way
for
you
to
kick
off
Christmas
time
with
your
family.
Oh.
A
B
After
that,
we
have
actually
that
same
day,
but
earlier
at
5
o'clock,
we're
doing
something
different
here.
This
year
at
the
Visitor
Center
train
museum,
we're
trying
out
a
new
event
called
the
Festival
of
Trees.
We
will
have
10
trees
here
in
the
visitors
center
that
will
be
decorated
by
different
partners
and
local
businesses
here
in
Aiken,
so
that
tree
lighting
will
begin
at
5
and
then,
after
that,
we're
urging
everyone
to
go
downtown
and
join
in
with
the
downtown
tree
lighting
as
well
great.
So
that's
a
new
event.
It
is
a
new
event.
B
Yes,
and
along
with
that,
we
have
our
usual
events
here
at
the
Depot,
we
have
a
miniature
elf,
mr.
jingles
choo-choo
that
may
be
moving
around
each
week,
he'll
be
in
a
different
diorama
each
week,
so
the
kids
can
come
in
and
do
that,
and
we
also
have
some
Christmas
crafts
and
storytime
that
we're
trying
with
the
kids
this
year
on
December
9
and
December
16th,
so
that'll
be
nice
and
another
edition.
You
know
akin.
We
do
so
many
Christmas
events
and
just
want
to
keep
it
fresh
with
some
new
things
this
year.
B
So
we've
got
the
annual
Christmas
craft
show
also
next
weekend
a
total
weeks
that
is
December,
1st
and
2nd
from
9
a.m.
until
5
p.m.
vendors
from
all
over
the
southeast.
Come
to
that,
and
they
also
will
have
food
trucks
this
year
for
you
foodies
out
there
you
can
enjoy
in
the
fun
with
that.
It's
a
great
place
to
find
those
unique
Christmas
gifts.
B
B
And
that
begins
December,
9th
and
10th,
and
then
there's
a
few
days
break
and
then
it
will
pick
up
again
on
December
14th
run
through
the
23rd,
and
then
we
do
the
day
after
Christmas
as
well
just
to
get
those
folks
that
are,
you
know
still
here
visiting
with
their
family,
and
please
remember
that
the
shuttle
will
pick
you
up
at
citizens
Park
at
ten,
sixty
banks,
Mill
Road,
and
then
we
will
get
you
and
your
family
over
to
the
garden.
That's
wonderful!.
A
C
We
are
so
excited
this
year
because
we
have
again
90
thousand
lights,
so
it
will
be
Thursday,
December
7th.
We
will
fill
downtown
with
luminaries
and
we
will
have
carolers
in
the
streets
singing
your
favorite
songs.
We're
also
going
to
have
some
else
and
Santa
himself.
So
we're
really
excited
about
that.
A
lot
of
our
businesses
will
be
staying
open,
late
for
shopping
and
that
is
Thursday
December,
7th
from
6
to
8
p.m.
and
then
new
this
year
we
have
our
ugly
sweater
cross.
So
we're
really
excited
about
that.
C
C
Some
of
the
restaurants
are
doing
promotions
and
specials.
So
it's
a
great
opportunity
if
you're
already
going
to
an
ugly
sweater
party
to
just
come
out
and
enjoy
everything
downtown
and
the
alley
and
everything
as
well,
so
that
will
be
on
Saturday,
December,
9th,
so
Saturday
following
the
night
of
a
thousand
lights
great.
A
A
Magical
seconds,
so
we
know
how
special
Lincoln
is
year-round,
but
truly
a
transformative
time
and
we're
during
the
holidays
for
other
things
to
come
in
and
experience
the
magic
of
Aitkin.
So
we
sure
do
hope
that
we
will
see
all
of
you
downtown
with
all
the
great
events
are
in
Copeland's
or
the
Christmas
craft,
fair,
but
be
sure
to
check
something
out
over
the
holidays.
We
thank
you
for
being
with
us
today.
We'll
see
you
next
time.
