A
Welcome
to
aiken
this
week,
I
memory
lane
stone.
Today
we
are
on
location
at
the
convocation
center
here
in
Aiken
and
I'm,
so
pleased
to
be
joined
today
by
Jennifer
law.
Thank
you,
Matt,
showing
and
brent
hagar,
and
we
are
going
to
be
talking
about
USC,
Aiken,
spring
athletics
and
talking
to
our
two
student-athletes
and
the
information
director
for
athletic
department.
So
we're
going
to
go
ahead
and
just
get
started,
and
we
really
appreciate
all
of
you
being
here
today.
A
You
know
USC
Aiken.
It
is
such
a
fabric
in
the
fabric
of
our
city,
with
students,
faculty
and
staff,
and
how
amazing
is
it
that
belief?
For
the
eleventh
year
in
the
row,
the
world
news,
US,
News
and
World
Report
has
ranked
USC
Aiken
number
11,
with
the
best
regional
public
college
in
the
south,
so
I
mean
what
a
what
a
great
institution
we
have
and
we're
just
excited
to
hear
about
everything
that
y'all
have
going
on.
A
So
we're
going
to
jump
right
on
in
and
we'll
start
with,
both
of
you,
Jennifer
won't
start
with
you
as
student-athletes.
You
have
so
much
to
juggle
your
course
load
projects
practice
games.
The
whole
nine
yards
so
Jennifer
less
I
want
you
to
talk
about
kind
of
your
background
and
why
you
chose
USC
Aiken.
So.
B
I
didn't
initially
choose
you
see
again:
I
transferred
my
sophomore
year
and
actually
wasn't
a
student-athlete.
Until
my
junior
year,
I
had
known
coach
Cox
since
middle
school,
I
grew
up
in
aiken,
so
we
were
familiar
with
each
other
and
he
kept
on
begging
me
to
play
and
I
finally
gave
in.
I
was
like
okay,
I
might
as
well.
So
I've
had
an
interesting
background
of
the
student-athlete
and
then
just
being
a
regular
student.
So
it's
just
been
a
great
experience.
B
It's
a
lot
to
juggle,
but
our
professors
and
student
students
have
a
really
great
relationship.
So
whenever
you
need
anything
they're
more
than
happy
to
help
really
willing,
we
have
Andy
Dyer
on
campus
and
he's
our
athletic
representatives.
If
you
ever
have
any
problems,
he
takes
care
of
that,
for
you.
So
really
just
a
cohesive
group
that
works
together.
That
makes
it
a
lot
less.
Stressful
than
I
could
be.
A
A
C
Still
live
there.
Currently
I
went
to
school
out
there
for
two
years:
first
to
junior
college
and
as
a
baseball
player,
you're,
always
looking
to
extend
your
career.
Afterwards,
junior
college
is
only
two-year
institution.
There
was
a
friend
I
had
that
played
baseball
with
me
through
high
school,
and
he
was
out
here
at
school
and
we
happen
to
talk
one
day
and
I
told
him
I
was
looking
for
a
place
to
play
and
he
said
okay.
Well,
let
me
see
what
I
can
do.
C
I
got
a
call
from
the
coach
about
two
weeks
later
came
out
for
a
visit
and
started
to
school
and
how
beautiful
it
was
out
here
and
I
was
sold
and,
and
it
was
very
different,
going
from
a
two-year
institution
to
a
four-year
institution,
but
it
was
very
smooth
because
of
the
teachers
and
the
staff
that
we
have
here.
They
work
really
well
with
athletes,
and
it
makes
it
a
really
smooth
transition
and
it
also
helps
to
have
39
teammates
taking
the
same
classes
that
never
hurts.
C
When
you,
you
know
most,
the
guys
are
taking
the
same
classes
that
you
have,
and
so,
if
you
have
any
help,
you
know
I
know
a
lot
of
the
guys
come
to
me
because
I'm,
a
senior
and
I've
been
through
out
of
the
classes
and
they
said
hey
what
you
know.
What
can
we
expect?
Can
you
help
a
study?
You
can
bounce
some
questions
off
you
and
so
that
usually
helps
make
it
a
smooth
transition,
especially
into
the
spring
very.
A
B
So
my
goal
really
was
to
create
a
better
bond
with
the
student
population
and
the
athletes
and
our
d
to
philanthropy
is
the
Make
A,
Wish
Foundation
and
probably
about
10
people
on
campus
knew
about
it
before,
and
it
was
really
just
a
goal
to
make
that
unknown
thing
that
we
were
working
to
raise
money
for
them.
It's
a
great
organization
and
we
have
so
many
athletes
on
campus.
B
The
athletic
senator
so
that
also
gives
me
position
on
the
student-athlete
Advisory
Committee.
So
then
that
gives
me
the
connection
between
all
of
our
athlete
athletic
representatives
and
then
the
student
government.
So
we
have
meetings
where
I
can
say.
Does
anybody
have
any
issues?
What
do
I
need
to
talk
to
student
government
about
so
really
just
as
a
straight
straight
shot
to
keep
that
connection
open?
Sure.
A
C
So
far
it's
been
fantastic,
we're
starting
off
really
quickly.
I
guess
you
could
say
there
was
a
lot
of
uneasiness
almost
before
the
season,
because
last
year
we
had
so
many
returners,
and
this
year
we
have
so
many
new
players
a
lot
of
transfers,
but
I
think
we
always
expect
here
at
akin
to
I
guess,
like
a
better.
We
want
to
win
and
so
we're
starting
off
the
way
we
want
to
the
guys
are
really
working
well
together.
C
As
far
as
the
busy
schedule,
we
had
the
toughest
februari
that
I
think
we've
ever
had
here,
and
that
means
a
lot
of
conference
games.
We
have
a
very
tough
conference
in
the
Peach
Belt
and
it
was
important
for
us
to
come
out
of
this
month
on
top
and
we
did
just
that.
I
think
we're
in
the
top
20
right
now.
As
far
as
rankings
go
as
the
schedule
gets
more
and
more
later
and
later
it
starts
getting
a
little
bit
busier.
C
C
You
have
to
really
make
sure
you
don't
procrastinate,
because
if
you're
playing
these
games
and
have
to
put
off
work
late
into
the
night,
you're
keeping
yourself
up
all
night
and
it's
important
for
everybody
to
get
their
work
done
early,
but
we're
really
excited
about
the
schedule.
We
do
have
a
really
tough
schedule
going
forward
from
here
on
out.
C
Our
toughest
competitor,
well,
the
Peach
Belt
generally-
has
a
top
20
teams
every
year,
probably
ourselves.
If
we
want
to
get
real
philosophical
with
it,
you
know
we
beat
two
of
the
top
teams
in
the
conference
already
so
from
here
on
out.
I
think
the
most
important
thing
is
to
keep
emotionally
the
same,
mentally
focused
and
not
battle
ourselves,
and
just
let
the
game
kind
of
come
to
us.
It's
a
long
season
and
we
started
off
hot.
So
we
don't
want
it
I.
C
Guess
it's
a
baseball
coach,
just
a
ride,
the
roller
coaster
we
want
to
stay
on.
You
know
flat
line
and
make
sure
that
we're
playing
the
same
mentally
and
physically
and
staying
with
ourselves
each
game-
and
you
know
it's
important-
to
have
a
certain
amount
of
leadership.
It's
a
it's
important
to
have
different
guys
pick
up
different
times.
That's
the
beautiful
part
about
baseball
is
that
you
have
nine
players
on
the
field:
10
players
on
the
field,
11
players
on
the
field.
C
You
know
whatever
in
the
dugout
people
cheering
people
part
of
the
game
and
it
can
be
a
new
guy
every
game,
and
so
it's
important
for
us
to
have
guys
step
up.
You
know
maybe
one
day
someone's
not
having
as
good
as
game
as
he
did
the
other
day.
Well
then,
some
of
the
guys
made
me
have
a
better
game
than
you
did
the
last
day,
and
so
it's
important
for
us
to
pick
each
other
up
where
maybe
someone's
not
doing
as
well
sure.
C
You
still
got
the
adrenaline
from
the
start
of
the
season,
but
as
soon
as
you
start
getting
into
the
end
of
march
and
early
april
everybody's
starting
to
drag
a
little
bit,
you
start
learning
who
you
know
you
really
are
as
a
team
and
you
have
to
almost
restart
the
engine.
So
we
kick
it
in
refocus
your
mind
on
to
you
know
almost
what
we
were
doing
back
in
August,
where
you
have
that
that
childlike
excitement
that
you
get
to
start
baseball
again,
I
think.
A
Either
your
elite,
you
spoke
to
something
earlier
in
the
conversation
about
how
the
toughest
competitor
is
yourself
and
with
this
long
season.
So
you
doing
especially
for
the
young
guys.
You
know
who
are
just
coming
in
as
a
senior
you've
had
the
experience.
You
know
how
to
I
guess
juggle
and
in
what
to
prioritize.
But
it's
specifically,
you
know
for
student
athlete
and
young
student
athlete.
That's
got
to
be
tough
to
think
about
everything
that
goes
on
the
middle,
the
physical
and
then
this
balancing
kit.
A
C
I
remember:
when
I
was
the
first,
a
freshman
you're
not
used
to
everything,
that's
coming
at
you.
You
have
classes
that
you've
never
been
used
to
before.
So
when
the
new
guys
come
in,
you
can't
really
tell
them
what
to
expect
you
can.
You
can
tell
them,
but
they
don't
want
to
hear
because
they're
so
excited.
So
what
I
do
is
I?
Try
and
you
know
just
keep
pushing
them
a
little
bit
like
hey.
B
C
As
our
teammates
go
to
teach
the
younger
guys,
what
we've
learned
here
and
that's
about
stay
on
top
your
schoolwork,
not
procrastinating,
being
responsible
with
your
time
is
super
important.
Nutrition
and
health
is
very
important
as
well,
because
you
know
it
is
a
physical
grind
and
that
can
also
take
a
toll
on
your
schoolwork.
If
you
don't
take
care
of
yourself,
and
so
these
are
all
things
that,
over
a
certain
amount
of
time
we
discuss
with
them.
We
don't
put
it
all
on
them
at
once.
You
know
it's.
C
A
A
Jennifer
I'm
sure
you
could
echo
some
similar
sentiments,
a
very
supportive
athletic
community
within
the
student
athletes.
But
when
we
first
started,
you
Beth
alluded
to
how
supportive
the
the
faculty
and
staff
were
when,
when
you
both
came
and
I'm
sure
that
that
is
a
major
play
or
two
to
the
faculty
and
staff
who
support
the
student
athletes
and
give
the
support
on
that
into
so
a
very
embracing
community.
Absolutely
well.
A
C
I
know
a
day
off
top
my
head
on
March
twentieth.
We
are
raffling
off
a
first
pitch
and
that
usually
is
a
lot
of
fun.
You
come
out
before
the
game
and
you
get
to
throw
a
pitch
out
to
one
of
our
catchers,
whoever
that
might
be
and
you
get
to
keep
a
baseball
and
it's
a
lot
of
fun
and
it's
a
lot
of
fun
for
us
too.
We
love
to
have
people
out
and
be
a
part
of
who
we
are
because
that's
that's
what
it
is.
C
We
are
part
of
the
community
here
at
part
of
the
fabric
of
of
this
community
and
a
part
of
this
city,
and
we
want
we
want
to
make
sure
that's
known.
So
you
know
we
always
do
a
couple
things.
Every
year,
I
think
people
really
enjoy
the
pack
the
park,
that's
usually
a
big
hit.
We
get
it's
one
of
my
favorite
memories.
As
far
as
being
here,
there
was
a
thousand
people
here
and
it
was
the
funnest
game
I've
ever
played,
and
so
we
love
having
the
community
out,
because
it's
really
it
feeds
our
energy.
C
A
C
I
want
to
say
that
it
was
a
pretty
close
game
and
everybody
was
cheering
us
on.
The
entire
game
was
all
nine
innings.
It
was
fantastic.
We
ended
up
winning
that
game
and
I.
Don't
think
it'd
be
a
stretch
to
say
that
it's
because
we
had
a
great
fan
base
and
I
can
understand
sometimes
earlier
in
the
season.
It's
good.
It's
a
little
cold
just
found.
C
C
In
you
know,
coach
Thomas
has
been
here
for
a
long
time
and
it's
a
big
part
of
the
community
and
we're
just
trying
to
you
know,
provide
a
certain
entertainment
provide.
You
know
giving
back
because
the
community
gives
you
know
so
much
to
us
by
coming
out
and
supporting
us,
and
so
hopefully,
by
our
play
on
the
field,
we're
able
to
get
back
a
little
bit,
and
you
know
we
have
you
know
certain
events
happening
all
the
time
like
I
alluded
to
the
pack,
the
park,
the
raffle
off.
A
Good
yeah
that
energy
I'm
sure
just
it's
amazing
as
a
student-athlete
to
feed
off
that
energy,
so
we'll
get
all
those
schedules
and
dates
up
on
the
screen
for
art,
for
our
viewers
to
see
so
Brent.
Not
only
are
you
sports
information
director,
but
you
are
filling
in
as
a
representative
for
the
softball
team
today
who
was
on
the
raid,
so
we
appreciate
you
being
here,
but
can
you
talk
a
little
bit
about
how
the
softball
team
is
doing
this
season.
D
They're
doing
really
well
so
far,
they
have
a
very
young
team
he
bought
in
over
ten
freshman,
but
they
started
off
extremely
well
one
about
six
or
seven
games
to
start
the
season.
You
know:
they've
just
played
really
well
to
come
from
behind
a
couple
times,
come
together
as
a
team
and
overcome
some
adversity
being
down
in
games
that
late
in
games.
I
remember
for
up
in
on
opening
day,
they
were
down
to
the
last
strike
and
her
girl
hits
a
double
off.
D
Know
they
start
off
strong
just
about
every
single
year.
Last
year
they
had
a
lot
of
games
that
were
literally
mess
because
of
the
weather,
but
this
year
they've
been
able
to
get
all
their
februari
in
and
they've
been
able
to
compete
and
concede
that
they
are
doing
better
and
better
now,
at
this
time
of
year
than
they
were
last
year
because
of
the
mental
games
impacts
under
that
they've
had
sure.
A
D
Have
men's
women's
tennis,
who
both
started
off
really
strong
so
far
this
year,
they're
on
the
road
for
a
couple
weeks,
we're
going
to
come
back,
they've
had
really
good
support
so
far
and
they
perform
really
well
at
home.
We
also
have
our
golf
team,
which
is
top
ten
nationally,
that's
going
on
right
now
and
and
they
can
compete
with
anybody,
the
nation
with
a
submission
winter
division,
2
and,
and
they
they
perform
really
well
right.
Now,
a.
A
Lot
of
a
lot
of
good
stuff
going
on
this
ring
right,
so
I
want
to
shift
our
focus
yet
again
and
Jennifer
went
when
you
and
I
both
met.
We
had
a
conversation
about
how
great
the
athletics
here
at
the
school
are,
but
there's
a
severe
lack
of
attendance
and
in
what
can
we
do
as
a
community
to
to
to
overcome
that
and
get
more
folks
to
come
out
two
games
and
support
our
student-athletes
and
USC
Aiken
in
the
community?
So
I
want
to
throw
this
question
out
to
all
of
you.
How
can
how
can?
A
How
can
we?
How
can
the
community
better
connect
with
the
University?
And
what
do
you
want
this
everybody
out
there
to
know
about
the
athletic
program,
and
maybe
your
sport
in
particular,
no
Jennifer
I,
know
that
you
and
I've
taught
in
your
volleyball
player
and
that's
fall,
but
this
covers
the
whole
span
of
the
academic
year
of
things
that
are
going
on
and
we
want.
We
want
more
participation.
So
can
y'all
speak
to
that?
We'll
start
with
you,
Jennifer
yeah.
B
Max
kind
of
touched
on
it,
we
really
do
go
from
august
to
the
end
of
april
and
beginning
of
May
we're
here
all
year
long,
it's
often
a
very
long
and
during
season,
but
that
means
that
the
students
are
here
and
I
know
for
me
personally,
being
from
ache
and
I
have
a
lot
more
connections
with
the
community
than
a
lot
of
the
players
that
are
from
out
of
town
or
even
from
out
of
state
and
I
know.
A
couple
of
the
basketball
players
have
a
little
bit
of
a
better
connection.
B
They
have
a
family
that
hosts
them
for
thanksgiving
and
meals
like
that
when
they
can't
go
home,
but
we
really
just
love
to
talk
to
people.
I
mean
we're
out
going
where
student-athletes
we
do
everything
so
just
come
and
talk
to
us.
We
love
to
get
to
know
more
about
the
community
more
about.
What's
going
on
a
lot
of
us
work,
a
lot
of
us
coach
so
really
any
way
that
we
can
get
involved.
We'd
be
more
than
happy
to
whether
it's
min
join
kids
that
need
help
whatever
it
is.
C
We
we
love
to
be
a
part
of
the
community
in
itself
and
Jennifer
hit.
You
know
a
lot
of
it.
You
know
we
talked
about,
and
maybe
it
starts
with
us
as
well
as
student
athletes.
Maybe
we
need
to
reach
out
more
and
be
more
or
a
bigger
part
of
the
community
because
maybe
gaining
recognition
or
bringing
people.
The
game
starts
with
us
and
going
out-
and
you
know
doing
these
things
like
we
are
with
the
make-a-wish
and
and
seeing
people
and
kind
of
opening
our
their
eyes
and
saying
hey.
D
And
touching
on,
both
of
them
said
the
school's
you
don't
with
the
same
fans,
aren't
able
to
come
down
and
get
to
know
the
players
a
little
bit.
But
as
the
bus
said
postgame,
you
see
all
of
our
students,
postgame
student
athletes
or
on
the
court,
or
you
know,
of
the
field
talking
to
the
fans
and
whether
have
little
kids
or
adults
or
whatever
they're
interacting
with
them.
And
that's
when
things
that
you
get
to
see
and
meet
so
many
of
the
kids
that
have
great
personalities
and
some
of
the
best.
D
They
have
a
great
stories
to
tell.
But
they
have
no
problem
interacting
with
anyone
in
the
community.
And
you
know
if
you
like,
volleyball
baseball
or
softball
whatever
square
it.
Is
the
student
athletes
take
the
time
to
sit
there
and
get
to
other
people
in
the
community?
So
it's
not
like.
Well,
we
like
watching
from
afar,
but
we
don't
know
who
they
are.
The
extend
a
thizz
road
or
gladly
going
to
be
able
to
go
talk
to
these
people
and
make
them
feel
like
a
part
of
the
USA.
Can
family
one.
A
Just
really
look
up
to
you
guys
and
the
same
with
the
the
young
ladies,
who
are
out
there
playing
softball
or
volleyball
to
be
able
to
come
and
meet
the
athlete
and
have
that
aspiration
that
this
is
what
I
want
to
do
is
just
a
really
phenomenal
experience
so
with
the
weather.
Getting
warmer
I
certainly
hope
that
people
are
going
to
come
out
and
support
the
the
baseball
team.
The
softball
team
go
see
some
tennis,
even
and
maybe
even
catch
a
catch,
a
golf
tournament
or
something
like
that.
B
C
B
A
Really
nice
go
out
and
support
them
well,
Jenny!
Well,
while
we're
talking
about
you
know
kind
of
wrapping
up
I
do
want
you
to
touch
on
your
on
the
volleyball
team
and
kind
of
what
that
what
that
framework
is
going
into
the
fall,
because,
hopefully
we'll
talk
about
this
again
in
the
fall
and
talk
about
our
fall
sports
with
USC
Aiken,
but
touch
on
that
just
a
little
bit
for
us.
So.
B
We
ended
with
two
losses
which
we
would
have
much
rather
gone
further,
but
we
have
more
seniors
graduating
but
really
have
a
lot
of
strong
players
left
women
that
I
know
will
step
up
to
the
plate
and
take
on
those
leadership
roles,
so
it'll
be
different.
A
lot
of
rebuilding
Ashley
D
Drake's
graduating
and
she
received
countless
accolades
from
everywhere
that
has
to
do
with
volleyball,
so
losing
her
will
definitely
hurt,
but
I
think
the
women
know
that
and
are
willing
to
put
in
the
work
to
really
fill
her
shoes.
B
B
Just
to
touch
again,
we
loved
meeting
our
fans.
I
know
I
wish
I
would
have
come
two
more
games
when
I
would
have
been
in
middle
school
in
high
school
I
actually
had
a
Lisa
Farah.
He
was
our
assistant
coach
now
played
here
at
USC
Aiken,
and
she
was
my
club
coach.
So
really
those
connections
can
really
be
strengthened,
as
some
of
us
coach
this
season
so
really
just
to
build
on
those
things
and
I
know
the
players
want
to
do
that.
So
a
lot
of
work
going
into
that
very.
C
C
I
think
that's
kind
of
the
end
all
for
us,
but
we're
all
realistic
and
you
start
to
become
an
adult,
and
you
understand
that
you
know
sometimes
what
you
get
to
chance
to
not.
You
know
whether
to
pursue
your
dream,
which
everybody
has
the
opportunity
to
at
this
point.
You
can
go
play
independent
ball,
there's
a
lot
of
opportunities.
So
you
know
I,
don't
know
I,
guess
I
understand
better
at
the
end
of
the
season.
A
C
I'll
be
I'll,
be
moving
back
as
of
right.
Now,
that's
the
plan
right
now,
I
like
to
have
my
plan
set
up
and
then,
if
I
change
him,
it's
okay
and
but
I'm
just
excited
to
see
where
the
rest
of
season
takes
takes.
Us
I
actually
have
one
class
right
now
because
of
my
age,
I'm
a
fifth
year
senior,
so
I
had
the
extra
semester
so
I'm
able
to
enjoy
baseball
just
a
little
bit
more
and
it's
been
a
really
rewarding.
C
A
B
I'm
actually
a
part
of
alpha
omicron
pi,
one
of
the
sororities
on
campus,
and
we
have
our
annual
strikeout
arthritis.
We
host
it
with
the
baseball
team
at
April,
sixteenth
and
seventeenth.
The
17th
is
also
pack
the
park,
so
we're
going
to
just
throw
all
kinds
of
events
that
day
will
be
having
a
chuck
a
puck.
I
Chuck,
a
Chaka
Papa
will
have
little
pucks
to
throw
into
the
field
we'll
have
a
grand
prize
and
the
proceeds
of
that
will
be
split
between
make
a
wish
and
the
arthritis
foundation.
B
A
Sure
well,
I
can't
thank
you
enough
for
being
here
today
the
opportunity
to
talk
to
student-athletes
and
staff
about
all
the
wonderful
things
that
go
on
here
at
USC,
Aiken
Jennifer
max
wish
you
nothing
but
the
best
of
luck
in
the
future
and
your
future
endeavors.
We
really
appreciate
everything
that
you
have
done
is
part
of
being
student-athletes
here
in
our
community
and
look
forward
to
wonderful
things
from
y'all
in
your
future.
Brett.
