A
Welcome
to
making
this
week
I
memory,
Langston,
servicing
collaboration
are
such
a
part
of
who
we
are
as
the
community
that
I'm
so
thrilled
today
to
be
joined
by
Samantha.
Radford
is
a
recreation
supervisor
with
the
city
of
Aiken
and
is
currently
a
participant
in
leadership,
Asian
County
this
year
and
Lisa
jindal,
who
is
the
executive
director
of
Mental
Health,
America,
Aiken
County
right
here
in
Aiken,
so
we've
got
a
wonderful
collaboration
to
talk
about
today
and
what
a
beautiful
morning
we
have
on
the
port
year
at
nurture
home
and
I.
A
C
Aiken
County
is
a
program
designed
to
identify,
develop
and
motivate
new
leadership
within
the
community.
That's
done
through
intense
team
building
activities,
exposure
to
things
that
are
going
on
in
the
local
community,
the
needs
that
are
there
and
then
connections
with
local
contacts
in
regional
context.
In
order
to
make
these
projects
happen.
The
project
this
year
that
our
class
is
chosen
is
to
build
a
cottage
at
nurture
home
for
Mental
Health
America,
and
we
are
so
excited
about
that.
Well,
what.
A
Up
what
a
wonderful
thing
absolutely
Lisa
I
know
that
this
is
the
near
and
dear
to
your
heart,
Mental
Health
America,
and
the
advocacy
that
you
do
in
the
community
has
always
been
so
near
and
dear
to
your
heart.
So
let's
talk
a
little
bit
about
nurture
home
being
under
the
umbrella
of
Mental,
Health
America.
So.
B
A
B
This
is
an
old
historic
home
and
it
has
five
rooms
that
are
simply
bedrooms
and
they.
So
we
can
accommodate
five
families
at
any
given
time,
and
this
is
called
shared
housing
in
terms
of
housing,
talk
and
so
we're
able
to
accommodate
that
many
families
and
they
can
stay
with
us
up
to
two
years,
but
typically
that
doesn't
happen.
What
we're
going
to
do
with
the
cottage
at
nurse
your
home
has
used
it
as
a
stepping
stone.
A
lot
of
our
work
is
on
a
convenient
continuum.
We
want
to
take
this
step.
B
Take
this
step,
the
next
step,
so
with
the
cottage
at
Nertz,
your
home.
It's
going
to
be
just
another
step
towards
independence,
because
what
we're
looking
at
is
having
a
family
transition
from
the
shared
house
into
the
cottage
still
being
on
our
property
and
with
our
oversight
and
engagement,
but
they're
going
to
pay
a
portion
of
the
utilities,
which
is
also
transitional
in
their
independence,
they're
still
going
to
participate
in
social
services
meetings
with
our
staff,
because
those
inputs
will
solidify
their
ability
to
maintain
themselves
over
the
long
term.
Sure.
A
B
B
B
B
A
B
A
B
If
I
can't
really
express
how
much
it
means
to
us,
the
community
as
a
whole
has
just
embraced
nurse
your
home
over
the
past
year
and
a
half
and
I'd
like
to
think
that
it's
because
we
really
have
a
heart
for
the
work
we
do
and
we've
been
able
to
facilitate
some
true
successes.
But
it's
not
the
success
of
the
work
that
matters.
It's
the
lives
that
we've
changed
so
having
the
ability
to
just
be
here
and
talk
about,
nurture
home
I'm.
Just
I
just
appreciate
it.
So
much
so.
A
So
Sam,
oh
I,
want
to
get
back
to
the
leadership
Aiken
County
portion
of
this
I've
been
through
leadership,
Aiken
County
leave
it
Lisa's
been
through
leadership.
Aiken,
County
and
many
other
folks
have
and
I
know
that
choosing
a
class
project
is
is
a
big
deal,
so
kind
of
walk
us
through
the.
How
and
the
why
your
class
decided
on
those
so.
C
Our
class
typically
begins
first
of
august,
and
you
know
you're
thrown
into
a
class
of
25
strangers
that
you
have
to
culminate
relationships
with
and
and
work
together.
So
you
meet
as
strangers
and
you
go
through
this
team-building
retreat
and
then
you
come
out
really
as
a
team
and
that's
when
the
decision-making
process
begins,
so
I
would
say
September
we
started
gathering
ideas
as
we
started
going
through
our
little
class
field
trip
each
month.
C
We
actually
spent
a
day
focusing
on
human
services
and
nurture
homeless
was
one
of
those
stops
so
nurture
home
was
in
the
running
from
the
beginning.
We
knew
that
we
wanted
to
truly
help
people
so
september-october
we
gathered
ideas.
It
really
took
us
months
to
decide.
We
went
back
and
forth
with
discussions
and
surveys
within
our
group
and
it
really
took
us
until
about
January
in
February
to
truly
decide
on
nurture
home.
It
wasn't
an
easy
decision.
There
are
so
many
deserving.
A
C
It
was
a
conversation
with
Lisa.
We
knew
that
she
had
a
vision
and
that
she
wanted
to
offer
like
she
said,
another
stepping
stone
for
these
families.
So,
in
conversations
with
Lisa
and
an
architect,
we
decided
that
the
cottage
would
be
the
best
fit
and
another
goal
of
ours.
You
know
we
realized
that
the
families
can
stay
here
up
to
two
years,
but
if
we
could
get
one
family
into
the
cottage
that
opens
up
a
space
for
a
new
family
to
move
in.
So
that's
another
family
out
of
a
hospital
environment
and
the
mid
may.
A
B
A
C
C
A
mystery
location,
so
people
can
sign
up
they
just
RSVP
online
and
our
website
center,
with
friends
on
blancs
calm
and
once
you
RSVP
you're,
signed
up
to
receive
the
text
message
notification
so
at
five-thirty
on
May.
Seventh,
you
get
notification
where
the
event
is
and
just
like
in
years
past.
You
know
the
text
message
goes
out
and
everyone
just
flocks
to
the
location
when
our
guests
arrive,
we'll
have
our
tables
and
chairs
set
up
through
volunteers
from
throughout
the
community.
They'll
arrive,
decorate
their
tables
and
all
white
their
decks.
C
It
out
and
white
I
mean
really
dinner
with
friends
on
blonde.
It's
just
a
sea
of
white
and
fun.
They
come,
they
bring
their
own
picnics
and
we
have
live
entertainment
from
upshot,
a
local
bands
that
is
just
phenomenal.
So
it's
really
a
great
event
that
really
benefits
to
deserving
entities,
not
only
our
project
with
nurture
home,
but
the
proceeds
will
be
split
evenly
with
the
community
medical
clinic
of
Aiken,
which
also
works
hand-in-hand
with
not
your
home.
A
Very
good,
so
we
won't
folks
to
participate
in
dinner
with
friends
on
block
and
all
white,
so
thats
events,
a
major
theme
yeah
over
the
evenings.
If
you
want
to
participate,
make
sure
that
you
have
your
all
white
on
and
get
your
picnic
baskets,
ready
and
folks
can
sign
up
for
that
at
the
website.
You
just.
