From YouTube: The City of Aiken Holds It’s “Topping Off” Ceremony at Eustis Park

Aiken, SC – The City of Aiken and the Department of Parks and Recreation joined together with the Toole Hill community and residents today to participate in the “Topping Off” ceremony at the construction site of the Eustis Park Senior-Youth Center this Friday, June 29, 2018. Residents began putting their signatures on a beam at 9:00 a.m. to memorialize the occasion followed by the ceremony which started at 9:30 a.m.

The beam was raised holding a Carolina palm plant as a symbol to “top” off the ceremony. Mayor Osborn stated that this is a great project for the City. The Eustis Center is designed to be a 12,000-square-foot facility that will house a banquet hall with 296 seats, sub-dividable into 3 separate rooms; a patio; a 50-person meeting room; a 100-person meeting room; a catering kitchen; a reception and extended lobby area; and office space for staff. The property is 5.53 acres and is an extension of the adjacent Eustis Park, adding additional green space for outdoor recreation.

The Center will be a community focal point where older adults and young people come together for programs and activities that encourage their involvement in and with the center and the community. The facility will also provide a large meeting and event area for residents and/or visitors through rental of its banquet hall.
