Want to welcome you all here and a lot of you are familiar with the process in which we assist property owners with changes that they're making to houses in in our historic or overlaid districts that mainly changes that are visible from the street, and we have some minutes. Our board are looking through that we usually review and and approve or modify uh initially and then we'll get into the regular agenda.

Now, if you all have had a chance to look at your minutes, um we will entertain a motion uh on uh the october minute. Mr.

Thank you for coming and thank you for being with work session. Is there anything you wanted to add, uh as as far as your intent here and uh what you're trying to accomplish and maybe modify.

Yeah, I mean, I think our intention is just to you- know, restore the cottage sort of more back to you know, maybe what it was intended to be. I know there were probably a lot of additions. You know that have happened. You.

Over the years, and we're just kind of looking to you know, make it kind of more in keeping with the rest of the street. And you.

Know generally,.

And replace some rotted siding, it sounds like yes and a couple of the noticeable changes are the addition of the chimney and then the screen porch that are actually on the kind of on the rear.

Right so the chimney is kind of on the side and the.

Porch is more on.

The rear, yeah, okay and then on the front, if mary, if you go back to the front yeah they're you're, removing a sort of false gable up there, that kind of got up there by mistake or something doesn't it okay, so that'll help simplify the uh the front does. Does anybody have any other questions?

Yes, yeah and she's stabilizing some issues that it has if it doesn't need to be left left like that, with the rotted siding and so on. Warley 1096 toolbeck road aiken, so crazy, creek, um the windows on the third floor. Dormers are deteriorated, they're wood they're, not even they're insulated, so they were replaced at some point and then those the grids are actually glue on grids on those that are actually a clad material, now not sure when those were put on. But um we've done this. What we would put on there is the cell sash packs that you just take out the two sashes and you put a clad unit. It's wood on the inside.

It's we've got several examples um on that street that have the clad windows um as well as magnolia.

The third four dormers at ridgeley hall, barry road has clad windows, so we're just trying to get rid of the maintenance issues up there. There's not a lot of um protection from the weather on the third floor dormers, and we asked you let us change them out a.

Lot of times you don't know the condition that you have up there.

They don't use the third floor very much, and so you know we usually do an inspection on this house once a year or so, and but these windows just continue to deteriorate and have to be bonded and passed together. So yeah.

And these are jailed: when did you say yes,.

Doing the uh dormers, just the dormant ones.

Yeah the the windows in the back, we're done, you know they don't require anything. So they've been done. The other windows are protected by that porch, and so at this time we're just asking for the dormers windows.

How are those wings that go outside the protection of the of the porch they're two sides.

Those are okay, they have you know they have. If you look, they have a little bit of overhang right.

Gutter system, where the ones on the dormer do not have it, you know they just have a little bit of crown and overhang and that's it.

And then the sash is relatively close, um where the seal is relatively close to the roof.

Good and uh your your uh application has to do with uh with a porch that's on the rear, but might be slightly seen from the side slightly.

There's some vegetation that will grow soon. If I don't cut it back, it'll completely block it, but.

Currently, you can actually see approximately six foot of the back corner of it.

And that's really that little bit of roof there is, that is that going to be the it says, temporary post?

Is that the uh where the porch would begin then going on out from that.

They're made up yes, six by six, so they're stable than a normal. They are wood, though. Yes, they are wood, okay, good to know they, but they're five and a half by five and a half.

Five and an eight okay and they call them six by six, but they're, really liberal.

And they're, not they're, not uh pressure treated necessarily. Are they.

Yes, they are, they are okay, yes, they're made for this they're made as a column. Yes, they actually have more load bearing capacity than a normal.

Okay, we run into this a lot about whether to use real posts, whether to wrap you know which gets complicated, sometimes to firing them out. That's good to know. Okay and you've got everything uh you got uh hurricane clips and so on.

Now we've got the applicant and we've got the building owner here, but I think the applicant can she's perfect capable of presenting this. Would you do that? Would you just tell us your name, but so it'll go into the recording. It's right here.

Yeah yeah, I'm betty ryberg and I'm applying for an application at the corner of or at the 136 pendleton street and the owner is here of the building, and this will be uh art uh outside of on this wall, positioned, so that it starts at the center of the wall and moves outward so that it will always look complete.

As we add more dogs, cats, horses and now rabbits- and this is a this- is an example of a wall that was painted on the clobbered siding we're going to paint it on the same boards that have been used before outside. uh We were. This was ordered by bill howell and it's the same boards that betsy wilson mahoney used and the same board.

That uh april king from the love to the uh I love you all and we've got the paint recommendation, and we have that and the students in all seven high schools, public high schools and probably two of the private high schools.

Painting the portraits and the portraits will be on a grid, and they will be very, very uh you notice. The background colors of these are different. The background colors of ours are all going to be in a nine colors, and this is going to be sequential. So all the students will be painting that we don't have a deadline. We don't have a timeline, that's why we want to start from the middle and pull it out so that it always looks like it's in completion and uh it's a the wall is in perfect condition.

It's a well-maintained building and so we'll take into consideration the two light the the outdoor draining. But it's we have a contractor who's going to uh put it up and make sure that it's secure.

And it'll it'll probably be a few feet up so that I know the wheels will cut back, but so that if there are vehicles, it'll start three or four feet up and then.

Go up we'd like to start almost from the top and move.

It down yeah because.

Even though those will be cut away, we don't want to, you know not: have people enjoy the parking or their dogs yeah.

Just for the record, how many are you going to start with.

We already have 46 um animals that have been photographed in so and that's really without anything in the newspaper or anything like that. I didn't want to presume this, and so we, but we haven't, had people that have been excited about it. So I'm going to start as soon as this happens, if it, if it goes, okay I'll start bringing them to the schools and the students will start painting right.

And I will say this.

I've been so very happy with the students capabilities that I think will be. First, we were going to have artists, but then we thought this has a little bit more magic to it.

Is this part of their curriculum? Is this going to be.

It is that's what the teachers are telling us, so I I can't go into the schools to to sell this, but I've talked to the teachers and the principals and.

It's going to be very rewarding for them not only.

H

They're going to have a celebration with the mayor who's going to unite the students with their rescue animals when we have the big celebration. So let's keep the cats in a little.

But it does it'll, be uh they'll, be actually the artwork will be done off-site and then brought in and yes, maybe assemble all at once.

Yes, if we, we probably will assemble the first six.

By eight, all right also to keep the contractor mm-hmm.

So you could actually do an unveiling. You know put a screen across there and just have the mayor. Please.

And it's still of the night we're going to hopefully erect yeah.

Yeah, I think that's it's a really a good project.

For the record too, going back to it, this is a a uh a money making a fundraiser also for the.

Everybody is sending a donation to the friends of the animal shelter. Although the animals come from everywhere,.

Rescued from anywhere okay.

Do you know how much the contribution is, the contribution.

Is 200 for the first rescue 150? If you have a second rescue, a hundred dollars for the third rescue and then after that, we're happy to have those other rescues. Some people have a lot of animals.

Okay, would you eventually do the entire side of that wall.

It looks like it's going to expand through the whole wall. We have really drawn no line we'd, just like the animal to be a rescue animal and only line I've drawn is no armadillos, no that's kind of because they're taking over the city, but I really think it might go the whole wall, but that's why we want to keep it kind of a synchronized and.

This is the matrix we've been working on uh for a year or so, and they were just some last minute. Little tweaks, you know such as acknowledging that the property we can evaluate a property based on uh adjacent properties.

We sort of knew that, but I think it's spelling it out clearly here and then we we have walls now believe it or not. We can we admit that retaining walls exist.

A

And so we made she made a few changes on that and we're making a distinction, large walls and small walls. Here you see that now this does. We do want to make a motion on it. Are there any questions about about? What's on this, you know.
