From YouTube: Fire Department Ladder Truck Tour
Description
Join the firefighters at Fire Station 3 for a tour of the ladder truck!
A
Hi
I'm
so
ready
today,
we're
gonna
go
over
a
little
bit
about
truck
three
conveniently
placed
down
here
at
Station
three,
so
this
is
truck.
Three
truck
three
was
built
in
2002,
so
it's
the
oldest
truck
in
our
fleet
of
frontline
trucks
here
at
Death,
Aames
fire,
and
it's
due
to
be
replaced
we're
working
on
replacing
it
this
coming
year.
In
fact,
so,
along
with
the
ladder
truck
comes
many
things
and
as
as
I'm
driving
the
ladder
truck
I
think
it's
one
of
my
biggest
responsibilities
is
to
get
the
crew
there
in
a
safe
manner.
A
So
each
of
these
different
buttons
corresponds
with
different
lights
or
sirens
aspects
that
we
have
on
the
truck,
and
over
here
is
just
some
more
other
lights
and
siren
controllers
down
here
on.
The
main
is
just
more
of
the
truck
controls.
The
engine,
the
transmission,
the
fuel
and
stuff
like
that
is
on
here
and
then
over
here
again
is
just
kind
of
a
combination
between
the
two
some
of
it
has
to
do
with
dealing
with
the
truck
itself.
A
Others
you
have
to
do
turning
on
the
hydraulics
or
the
pumps
of
the
phenomena,
so
we
also
have
once
we're
in
route
will
we
will
all
wear
these
headsets,
which,
with
the
lights
and
sirens
on
and
with
the
loud
noises
and
we're
getting
a
lot
of
radio
traffic
from
dispatch,
it
just
makes
it
a
lot
easier.
We
can
hear
each
other
talk
and
we
can
also
hear
the
radio
traffic
from
from
PD
either
dispatch
or
maybe
other
units
on
scene.
So
it
just
helps
us
hear
a
lot
better
when
we
have
our
our
headset.
A
A
A
Take
that
hose
and
connected
into
heart
here
so
then
we
would
turn
on
the
fire
hydrant
and
then
we
would
have
plumbing
to
our
fire
girl.
Now,
along
with
this,
we
have
400
gallons
on
board.
So
we
can
start
firefighting
right
away
if
need
be,
but
it's
always
if
we
have
a
big
fire
going,
we
would
always
want
to
have
a
fire
patron
and
one
of
the
other
first
things
that
you
do
is
for
this.
A
This
would
get
the
water
from
the
tank
to
the
pump
and
then
we'd
have
a
little
recirculate
night,
so
our
pump
doesn't
get
too
hot
we'd
have
that
going
and
then
from
here
all
these
other
knobs
and
levers
I
have
to
deal
with
where
I
want
the
water
to
go
so
they're
corresponding.
This
is
the
speed
leg
for
this
cross
leg
here.
So
if
the
guys
pull
this
feed
lake
here,
so
this
would
be
the
line
and
I
would
pull
to
charge
that
and
then
they
would,
they
would
have
water
to
that.
A
These
lines
here
can
have.
We
can
run
foam
through
as
well.
We
control
the
phone
through
this
little
computer
module
here.
So,
along
that,
there's
a
lot
of
different
things
going
on
here.
This
is
another
command
zone
that
will
show
me
engine
temperature
training,
temperature
things
like
that
at
the
truck
itself,
hi.
C
I'm
Brandon
Hendrick
I'm
a
firefighter
down
here
at
station
3.
This
first
compartment
we're
going
to
show
you
is
a
pump
operators.
Department
so
today
would
be
fills
compartment.
It
consists
of
extra
nozzles
fittings,
gated,
wise
and
extra
hose
to
assist,
fill
in
his
pump
operations.
If
we
need
to
the
hydrant
he
talked
about
if
it's
a
short
distance
from
the
truck,
we
have
short
of
the
H
hose
right
there
to
make
that
connection
in
this
department.
Here
on
the
top
shelf,
we
have
our
set
of
rope
rescue
equipment.
C
Has
an
air
cylinder
in
it
that
we
would
use
to
rescue
a
downed
firefighter
or
we
needed
to
take
it
in
and
assist
someone
coming
out.
We
have
what
we
call
our
crash
bags
that
we'll
use
if
we
have
this
truck
on
a
motor
vehicle
accident
that
has
an
assortment
of
tools
in
it
to
assist
us
with
that
and
behind
there
is
our
ground
monitor
that
we
would
use
as
an
unmanned
hose
line
on
a
large
defensive
fire
operation
in
this
department.
C
C
C
E
My
name's
Eli
Ingram
I'm
a
firefighter
here
at
station
3,
so
start
off
with
this
back
compartment.
One
thing
that
makes
us
different
from
the
other
stations
is:
we
have
the
ladder
trucks
here,
the
other
stations
have
engines
and
that's
because
of
the
big
ladder
we
have
on
top
it's
105
feet
and
back
here
are
the
controls
to
get
the
outriggers
out,
which
basically
helps
stabilize
the
truck.
So
we
can
extend
the
ladder
to
perform
rescue
operations.
E
Like
that
other
tools,
we
have
various
coats
and
claws
to
help
on
the
roof,
and
you
have
five
holes
in
various
sizes
to
help
tear
off
sealing
also
for
fire
extension
and
stuff
like
that,
along
the
case,
our
driver
Phil
talked
about.
We
have
our
LDH
back
here,
so
we
have
our
piping
bag,
so
we
can
hook
up
to
the
hydrant
and
this
where
we
pull
the
LDH
out
to
help
hook
up
and
supply
water
to
the
engine.
F
F
Metal
things
such
as
garage
doors,
metal,
flat,
roofs
on
our
commercial
structures
or
anything
else,
the
size
of
metal
buildings
to
gain
access
to
fires
that
we
otherwise
couldn't
access.
We
also
have
our
chainsaw
in
this
compartment
firefighter
our
tires,
don't
always
happen
in
the
daylight,
so
we
need
a
lot
of
light
on
the
truck
and
have
a
portable
generator
here
from
lights,
and
then
we
can
attach
small
put
into
it
as
well.
F
Sawzall
and
some
other
people,
drills
and
other
small
tools
to
use
on
a
fire.
The
truck
is
really
a
giant
rolling
toolbox
that
each
department
has
equipment
in
it
that
we
might
need
or
have
needed
at
different
incidents
that
we've
been
on
in
the
past.
So
hopefully
it
has
everything
you
need
so
moving
forward
on
the
truck
in
this
department,
because
we
don't
only
just
respond
to
fires
with
this
truck,
we
also
respond
to
the
MS
called
medical
calls.
So.
F
And
like
I
say
anything
that
lasts
an
apartment
back
there
hi
we
got
a
lighting
is
a
critical
thing
for
us
at
night.
So
we
have
our
compartment
that
has
a
bunch
of
life
supportable
lights,
that
we
can
move
around
to
light
up
the
scene
to
make
it
safe
for
us,
and
so
we
don't
miss
something
that
would
be
important
and
moving
on
to
our
final
converter
on
this
side.
F
This
is
our
whoever
TTU
vivre
hand,
which
stands
for
the
positive
pressure
ventilation,
as
well
as
our
smoke
ejector,
which
we
might
set
in
a
window
to
pull
the
smoke
out
of
a
particular
room
after
a
fire
and
then
also
are
three
kinds
of
fire
extinguishers
that
we
carry
on
this
truck.
We
have
our
water
pan,
which
is
just
straight
water,
used
on
any
aid,
eight
buyers.
We
have
our
typical
ABC
extinguisher,
and
then
we
have
our
co2
extinguisher
again.
E
My
name's
Eli
I'm
a
firefighter
here
at
station
3
and
here
in
the
back
bar,
but
this
is
where
we
ride
going
to
a
call.
We
have
headsets
in
the
back
where
we
can
talk
to
each
other
to
get
a
better
idea
what's
going
on
and
what
needs
to
be
done
on
our
end
to
either
help
savors
day
was
something
a
lot
of
times.
We
do
have
tools
in
the
back
here.
We
always
try
to
come
out,
prepared
we're
leaving
whatever
engine
or
truck
we're
riding
at
the
time.
E
Along
with
that,
we
have
our
air
packs
back
here.
So
we're
always
ready
to
go
the
packed
up
if
we
need
to
go
inside
of
the
working
structure
fire
whatever
the
case
may
be,
along
with
that,
we
have
some
extra
lights,
some
safety
vests
and
just
a
couple
overall
things
to
kind
of
help
out,
with
whatever
the
situation's
we're
dealing
with
I'm.
D
Josh
I'm
lieutenant
on
this
ladder
truck
truck
three
out
of
Ames
Fire
Station.
Three-
and
this
is
my
seat.
I,
keep
my
gear
right
next
to
the
truck
ready
to
go
a
couple,
unique
things
about
my
seat
that
are
different
than
the
rest
of
the
crew.
I.
Have
my
accountability?
Tag
sets
right
here.
They
have
everyone,
that's
working
for
the
day.
D
If
we
go
to
a
fire,
these
tags
go
to
the
incident
commander
so
that
we
can
keep
track
of
who's
working
and
we
know
if
there's
a
lost
fire
fire
field,
it
might
be
I
keep
my
own
Halloween
bar,
which
is
the
pry
bar
that
I
can
use
I'm
walking
around
the
structure.
Initial
parts
of
the
fire
I
have
my
own
rope
bag
in
case
we're
on
portion
of
the
tall
building
that
we
could
hoist
some
homers
voice
tools,
equipment
with
us.
If
we
need
to
moving
into
the
camp.
D
D
D
Up
front
with
me,
I
carry
a
thermal
imager
one
of
my
first
actions
on
scene.
If
we're
the
first
unit
at
a
house,
fire
would
be
to
do
a
lap
around
the
entire
building.
Trying
to
locate
the
source
of
the
fire
and
a
thermal
imager
can
help
me
do
that
if
there
isn't
fire
showing
from
the
outside.
That's
readily
apparent
thanks
for
joining
us
on
this
virtual
tour
of
Ames
fire
truck
3
located
in
fire
station
3.
