Description
Ames Municipal Band concert from June 13, 2019 at Bandshell Park featuring Simon Estes. It was also City Council Night.
A
Thank
you
very
much
and
boy
I
tell
you
what
a
great
sides
I
was
pulling
up
to
the
park
here
this
evening
and
I
could
just
see
everybody
here
sitting
out
in
the
sunshine
and
their
multi-coloured
garb
what
a
fantastic
sight.
What
a
fantastic
evening
I
made
to
order
here
tonight,
just
for
us
I'm,
John,
Burnett
Larkins.
We
have,
of
course,
a
very
very
special
evening
for
you
here
tonight
filled
with
very
special
music
and
very
special
people.
We
have
special
guest
appearances
by
different
folks
all
over
the
place
here
this
evening.
A
You're
gonna
be
very
glad.
You
came
and,
of
course,
not
the
least
among
that
it's
Ames
city
council
night.
We
have
Mayor
John,
Haila
and
members
of
the
Ames
City
Council
in
the
park
here
this
evening,
they're
handing
out
free
cookies
and
free
ames
water.
Well,
it's
free
at
home
too
well
kind
of,
but
anyway
you
know
what
I
mean
you
could
get
a
cup
of
it
here
this
evening,
along
with
a
free
cookie.
A
If
you
haven't
done
so
already
make
sure
you
do
that,
and
we
will
be
hearing
more
from
the
mayor
and
representatives
of
the
m-city
Council
coming
up
very
shortly.
The
Green
Oaks
trio
by
Reggie
Greenlaw
has
already
been
busy
in
the
bark
here
tonight,
providing
our
pre
concert
entertainment.
We
hope
you
enjoyed
also
our
annual
Flag
Day
ceremony
with
the
Ames
Elks
Lodge
and
Boy
Scout
Troop
196.
Let's
have
another
round
of
applause
for
those
folks,
please.
A
And,
of
course,
one
of
the
high
points
of
any
Ames
municipal
band
concert
season
is
when
tonight's
guest
vocal
soloist
joins
us.
Simon
Estes
is
here
in
banja
Hill
Park
this
evening
and
he'll
be
joining
us
on
stage
in
just
a
few
minutes.
Right
now,
please
put
your
hands
together
for
these
fine
folks.
Right
here
did
I
left
on
this
stage.
Ladies
and
gentlemen,
the
members
of
your
a
aimes
municipal
band.
A
B
Well,
good
evening,
we
were
joking
that
we
all
got
the
same
memo
and
wore
the
same
color
shirt
tonight.
So
it's
not
a
uniform,
but
just
so
happen
that
we
all
couldn't
Lee
got
the
same
kind
of
shirt.
It's
a
pleasure
to
serve
with
our
City,
Council
and
I
could
introduce.
The
four
members
are
here
at
night,
unfortunately
make
it.
One
was
a
azile
tonight,
an
era
when
it
happens,
you
traveling,
we
have
Bronwyn
BT
Hanson
she's,
one
of
our
large
council
members
and
Chris
Nelson
yeah
well
deserved
Chris
Nelson
Ward
for.
B
One
of
the
things
that
council
is
very
committed
to
is
quality
of
life
and
I.
Just
can't
say
how
much
we
appreciate
everyone
coming
here
tonight
and
we
hope
that
you
enjoy
not
only
tonight
but
also
all
the
band
concerts.
You
know
during
this
season
and
it's
just
a
joy
walking
around
talking
to
people
and
just
enjoy
this
beautiful
weather.
I
was
joking
with
some
people
saying
we
passed
a
resolution
last
week.
B
That
said
it
had
to
be
a
nice
night
tonight,
so
we
basically
accomplished
that
so
well
without
further
ado,
I
think
you've
all
are
waiting
to
hear
Simon,
Estes
and
I.
Just
can't
think
of
someone
who's
more
notable
or
more
known
in
the
country
and
probably
worldwide,
and
so
is
my
pleasure
at
this
time
to
introduce
incomparable
Simon
Estes.
C
A
Simon
Estes
here
with
us
tonight,
17
years,
I,
believe
consecutive
yeah
17
consecutive
years.
That
Simon
has
appeared
now
with
the
Ames
municipal
band
and
he's
not
done
not
by
a
longshot
he's
gonna
be
back
out
here
for
more
later
on
this
evening,
so
his
Simon
Estes
foundation
exists
to
promote
the
health,
nutrition
and
education
of
children.
His
Iowa
counties,
a
scholarship
program,
has
assisted
many
young
people
in
attaining
a
college
education.
A
His
young
artist
performance
program
promotes
emerging
young
performers
and
his
eliminate
malaria
campaign
very,
very
important
in
conjunction
with
the
United
Nations
foundations
has
spared
countless
children
in
Africa
from
contracting
deadly
malaria.
Mayor
John
Haley
earlier
this
evening
mentioned
that,
of
course,
Simon
known
nationally
and
internationally
as
well
and
as
a
matter
of
fact,
he
will
be
getting
on
an
airplane
once
again
to
fly
off
to
a
far
part
of
the
world.
He'd
be
a
flying
to
Beijing
China
on
Monday.
Well,
here
be
he
will
be
performing
and
lecturing.

C
A
Well,
usually,
you
reserved
the
final
spot
on
the
agenda.
Every
Thursday
night
here
for
a
John,
Philip
Sousa
March.
Well
tonight
we're
not
going
to
do
that.
What
Nina
collective
gasp
settles
over
banjo
park,
but
this
is
a
March
than
many
a
tribute
to
Sousa,
so
it
kind
of
counts
right.
It's
it's
still,
a
classic
one.
Did
you
love
composed
by
Edwin
Eugene
vaguely
better
known
as
EE
Begley?
A
A
Hangul
once
again,
all
of
our
very
special
guests
here
this
evening
and
thanks
to
you
for
joining
us,
what
a
great
crowd
beautiful
night,
we
look
forward
to
seeing
you
back
here.
Next
Thursday
night
bring
your
friends
your
neighbors,
your
family
members.
Your
dogs
join
us
here
in
band
cell
park,
I'm
JonBenet
Larkins
on
behalf
of
all
the
members
of
the
Ames
municipal
band
good
night.
Everyone.
