A
Well,
good
evening,
ladies
and
gentlemen,
welcome
to
our
second
to
the
last
concert
of
the
year.
It's
our
pre-reg
by
a
concert
and
next
Tuesday.
This
park
will
be
filled
with
a
lot
of
people
wearing
spandex
and
so
we're
honored
your
hair
tonight,
spandex
or
not.
I'm
Paul,
we're
shinobi
your
host
tonight
and
your
announcer
and
the
Mariachi
rey
del
esta
band
performed
our
pre-show
this
night
and
weren't.
They
wonderful
about
a
round
of
applause.
A
A
A
A
A
Well,
you
know
with
the
Mariachi
band
joining
us
tonight,
we
thought
it
would
be
appropriate
to
begin
our
portion
of
the
program
with
a
selection
and
the
Spanish
style.
Our
opener
was
Paso
Doble
Zaragoza
by
the
composer
Jose
or
devadasi
Franz
von
sube,
composed
over
200
comic
operas
a
requiem
symphonies
and
overtures
das.
Passionate
was
one
of
his
outstanding
successes
due
to
its
charming
music
of
a
Viennese
character,
dust
passionate,
translates
so
poorly
into
English
that
most
performances
have
kept
a
German
name,
which
roughly
translates
to
the
boardinghouse,
were
schooled.
A
A
Well,
everybody
comb
your
hair
because
we're
live
on
ksi
radio
and
you
can
catch
us
on
local
cable
channel
12.
He
renames
also
so
there's
nothing
about
the
municipal
band
that
doesn't
get
coverage
and
they
media
look
for
them
to
go
higher
and
higher.
Well.
Tonight's
vocal
soloist
is
a
cow
director
of
choral
activities
at
Belmont,
Clemmy
high
school
and
we're
always
happy
to
have
Zach
back
now
tonight,
he'll
be
singing
the
American
Film
Institute's
all-time
number
one
movies
on
over
the
rainbow
and
followed
by
Josh
Groban,
the
signature
song.
C
B
C
A
Well,
I'd
like
to
take
a
moment
right
now
to
consider
and
think
about
the
folks
affected
today
by
the
tornadoes
we
experienced
in
Iowa.
Tornadoes
are
happenstances
things
that
just
hit
you
without
warning
and
they
might
leave
your
house
destroyed
and
your
neighbor's
house
intact
them.
Random
events
and
all
of
us
are
subject
to
that
kind
of
random
event
living
here
on
the
Prairie
in
Iowa,
and
certainly
we
think
of
those
folks
affected
today
in
the
towns
hit
by
tornadoes
and
I
was
watching.
A
A
There
is
nothing
more
infectious
than
a
waltz,
one
of
our
mariachi
band
members
backstage
was
dancing
with
his
guitar
no
strings
attached.
Oh
now,
we're
proud
to
feature
the
Mariachi
raze
del
Este
as
our
pre-show
entertainment
tonight,
and
prouder
still
to
share
the
stage
with
them
for
these
next
two
selections.
This
is
the
first
time
we've
ever
had
a
mariachi
band
perform
with
us
at
Van,
shell
Park
for
a
Thursday
concert.
A
So
it's
a
real
first
mariachi
Radle
esta
is
the
top
performing
mariachi
ensemble
at
Denison
high
school
in
2012,
Denison
became
the
first
school
in
Iowa
to
include
mariachi
as
an
official
part
of
their
instrumental
music
program.
Mariachi
Radle
esta
has
traveled
throughout
the
state
and
performed
for
multiple
educational
and
music
conferences
and
last
spring
they
performed
with
grammy-nominated
and
internationally
known
mariachi
artist,
maestro
Jose
Hernandez.
A
Their
title
translates
to
kings
of
the
West
and
their
directors
are
miss
Claudia
Reiner
and
mr.
Ruben
Newell,
who
both
graduated
from
Iowa
State
University
and
now
with
a
company
from
the
Ames
municipal
band.
They
will
perform
two
traditional
works
for
mariachi
band,
Besame
Mucho,
which
translates
into
kiss
me
much
and
guadalajara.
Please
help
me
in
welcoming
the
mariachi
rey
del
Este.
D
D
D
D
D
D

C
D
C
D
A
That
was
terrific
and
we
will
remember
they
are
high
school
folks
from
Denison
Iowa,
wonderful
job
now,
I
come
from
Roland
storey
school
district.
This
inspires
me
to
create
a
Norwegian
band
featuring
30,
kazoos
I,
understand,
there's
someone
here
tonight
with
a
birthday
the
Reverend
John
Albertson.
Where
are
you
John
hold
up
your
hands
stand
up?
Oh
there
he
is
yeah
John
Albertson,
Reverend,
John
Albertson,
his
son
lathe
is
the
bass
clarinetist
here
at
the
Ames
municipal,
bandstand
and
it's
time
to
say,
happy
birthday
to
John.
A
Well,
last
week
we
featured
a
composition
from
Leroy
Anderson
who
composed
lighter
works,
especially
for
the
Boston
Pops
and
conductor,
Arthur
Fiedler,
who
is
very
similar
to
mr.
Gilliam,
oh
except
less
talented
provident
we'd
like
to
perform
one
of
Leroy.
Anderson
solo
works,
this
one
being
for
trumpet
and
Lucas
Yocum
is
in
his
third
year
with
the
municipal
band
and
is
a
senior
and
the
instrumental
music
education
department
at
Iowa
State
he's
from
Humboldt.
He
now
performs
Leroy
Henderson's
beautiful,
a
trumpeters
hollow
lullaby,
which
will
be
followed
by
Satchmo,
a
tribute
to
Louis
Armstrong.
C
C
A
Our
him
tonight
is
by
the
Scottish
Anglican
Henry
Francis
white
and
is
most
often
sung
to
English
composer
William
Henry
monks
to
an
entitled,
Eventide
light,
wrote
the
poem
in
1847
and
set
it
to
music,
while
he
lay
dying
from
tuberculosis.
In
fact,
he
survived
only
a
further
three
weeks
after
its
completion.
The
hem
is
a
prayer
for
God
to
remain
present
with
the
speaker
throughout
life
and
beyond.
It
was
famously
reported
by
survivors
of
the
Titanic
that
the
band
played
that
him
as
the
ship
was
sinking.
Air
is
abide
with
me.
A
Well,
thank
you,
everyone
for
being
with
us
tonight,
and
we
hope
that
you
can
join
join
us
again
next
week
for
our
final
concert
of
the
season.
We
conclude
tonight's
concert,
as
always
with
a
march
by
John
Philip
Sousa.
Now
we
thought
it
would
be
appropriate
to
recognize
and
and
thank
our
mariachi
musicians
from
Denison
with
a
march
and
the
Spanish
flavor
in
1889
Sousa,
composed
the
Picador
March.
