From YouTube: Roosevelt Park Ping Pong Tables Ribbon Cutting
Description
On Sunday, June 2, 2019 there was a ribbon-cutting ceremony for new ping pong tables installed at Roosevelt Park and donated by Ames resident Steve Fisher. Roosevelt Park is located at the corner of Ninth Street and Roosevelt Avenue.
Mayor John Haila, Ames City Council, the Ames Parks and Recreation Commission, and Friends of Roosevelt Park cut the ribbon officially opening the ping pong tables for play.
A
The
Friends
group,
which
Stacy
and
Annika
I
told
them
after
spending
about
a
year
more
with
them,
I
went
into
withdrawal
by
for
the
first
six
months,
because
I
didn't
think
I
see
them
as
much.
But
but
it's
really
been
a
great
partnership.
They've
raised
a
number
of
dollars
funding
for
the
park.
We
worked
with
the
Roosevelt
to
really
kind
of
make
a
seamless
you
know
park
here.
So
just
a
lot
of
good
thing.
That's
been
a
great
relationship.
I,
don't
know.
A
If
everybody
knows
this,
the
Friends
group
did
raise
about
$50,000
all
roughly
to
help
enhance
the
park
and
they
continue
to
do
it
in
these
ping-pong
tables.
There's
another
example
of
things
that
Josh
was
gonna,
say
a
little
bit
more
a
little
bit
later
on,
but
right
now,
I'd
like
to
do
is
introduce
Mayor,
John,
hayla
and
the
mayor's
gonna
come
up
and
just
say
a
couple
of
words.
B
A
C
Good
evening
might
keep
that
said:
I'm
Joshua,
Thompson
oversee
all
the
parks
for
the
city
of
Ames
I,
so
I.
Thank
you
all
for
coming
out
again
when
we
designed
this
Park
this
area
right
here.
We
didn't
necessarily
know
what
we're
gonna
do.
We
could
put
a
basketball
court
in
here.
We
could
do
potentially
bocce
ball
or
a
corn
bag.
So
we
everything
there's
a
lot
of
different
ideas
that
came
out,
though
there's
one
person
said
why
not
ping
pong
table
see
we're
like
okay
yeah
we
did
when
we
did
a
vote.
C
There
was
one
person
that
voted
for
ping,
pong
tables
and
I
look
back
in
that
diet
and
then
look
at
today
and
how
how
supported
it
is
how
great
it
is.
So
I
want
to
thank
Steve,
Fisher,
Steve
Fisher
donated
the
money
to
get
this
project
started
and
I
want
to
thank
you.
Steve
and
his
family
also
a
supper
just
getting
this
getting
this
rolling
and
and
hitting
this
really
off
the
ground
and
look
at
today.
It's
really
neat
so,
and
the
next
thing
is
you
guys
you
guys
made
this
all
happen.
C
C
Nicely,
if
you
don't
live
in
this
neighborhood-
and
you
see
man
I
would
love
to
do
this.
For
my
neighborhood,
the
city
of
Ames
has
a
program
called
the
neighborhood
improvement
grant
program.
Part
of
this
funds
for
these
tables
came
from
that
program.
So,
if
you
want
to,
if
you
have
something
that
you
want
to
see
improve
in
your
neighborhood,
come
see
me
come
docile
to
the
website.
There's
information
on
there,
the
city
of
Ames,
City
Council,
has
designated
funds
to
help.
You
improve
your
neighborhood,
so
look
into
that.
