Description
Meet Jessica the Flemish Giant rabbit, Dory the Beagle, and Gizmo the Cocker Spaniel. The Ames Animal Shelter is taking applications on all three of these animals, but Jessica will be available May 24 and Gizmo on May 25.
A
A
Yes,
Jessica,
Rabbit
I
know
another
original
staff
named
this
bunny
Jessica
Jessica
actually
came
into
us
as
a
stray
running
loose
out
here
in
the
city
and
what
we're
thinking
or
guessing
happened
because
we
haven't
had
anybody
come
forward,
is
that
somebody
thought
that
Jessica
could
live
with
the
wild,
bunnies
and
fend
for
herself,
so
they
just
decided
to
let
her
go.
She's
obviously
been
cared
for
she's
well,
socialized,
she's,
fine,
with
animal
handling
and
just
does
a
really
good
job
and
a
beautiful
bunny,
a
Flemish
Giant.
A
So
it
is
one
of
the
largest
breeds
of
rabbits
and
she
is
a
good
sized
bunny
look
at
those
ears.
Those
can
I
think
those
can
tune
in
to
radio
and
other
parts
of
the
world,
but
just
a
beautiful
bunny
here
loves
her
veggies
and,
of
course,
those
are
so
important
to
her
diet
but
Jessica
again
as
a
Flemish
Giant,
she
will
be
spayed
before
she
is
adopted
and
just
want
to
remind
people
out
there
that
these
domesticated
bunnies
cannot
thrive
and
survive
on
their
own
out
in
the
wild.
A
Unfortunately,
there's
a
lot
of
animals
that
think
that
they
are
something
that
you
want
to
eat.
So
there's
a
lot
of
critters
out
there,
wild
animals
and
loose
dogs,
and
things
like
that
that
could
you
know,
really
harm
a
bunny
like
this.
Even
though
Jessica
is
a
good
sized
bunny
she's
not
going
to
be
able
to
fend
for
herself
if
someone
worked
or
something
were
to
try
and
attack
her.
A
A
So
if
you're
interested
in
adopting
Jessica
the
rabbit,
I
check
out
rabbit
org,
it's
an
excellent
website
that
gives
lots
of
information
about
how
to
care
for
these
very
special
creatures.
They
are
considered
exotic
pets
and
certain
vets
will
have
expertise
and
caring
for
them.
So
not
every
vet
feels
comfortable
or
will
actually
treat
or
look
at
exotic
pets.
So
that's
really
important
to
make
sure
you
do
all
your
homework
find
out
where
your
bunny
can
go
for
a
vet
care
and
just
in
general,
how
to
care
for
them.
A
Here
at
the
shelter
you
can
see
that
Jessica
is
in
a
single
puppy
exercise.
Pin
here
so
this
is
provides
a
decent
amount
of
space
for
Jessica,
but
what
we'd
really
recommend
for
her
is
to
have
at
least
two
of
these
that
are
connected
together.
That
would
give
her
a
lot
of
space
to
run
again
because
she
has
such
a
large
breed
bunny.
She
needs
a
lot
of
space
to
stretch
out
and
when
she
stretches
out,
she
takes
up
a
whole
lot
of
space
inside
that
exercise.
A
Pin
there
so
again
doing
some
research
about
the
breed
again,
a
Flemish
Giant
doing
some
research
on
rabbit.
Org
will
help
make
this
a
successful
adoption,
and
we
want
to
make
sure
that
Jessica
finds
an
appropriate
place
that
will
keep
her
indoors,
keep
her
safe
and
never
put
her
out
to
be
out
there
living
in
the
wild,
because
that's
not
where
these
domestic
bunny
should
be.
So
if
you're
interested
in
Jessica
come
on
down
to
the
shelter
we'll
be
accepting
application,
she's
actually
available
on
Friday
May
24th.
A
A
Give
me
a
girl
coming.
She
is
a
year
and
a
half
old.
She
is
a
purebred
beagle
and
again
just
has
lots
of
energy,
as
you
can
see
here.
Unfortunately,
Dori
was
a
frequent
visitor
here
with
us
and
for
whatever
reason,
the
owner
decided
at
this
time
that
they're
not
going
to
come
back
and
pick
her
up.
So
now
we're
gonna
put
her
up
for
adoption
and
thank
you
for
that.
Kiss
we're
gonna
put
her
up
for
adoption.
We're
gonna
get
her
spayed
before
she
goes
home,
but
she
is
just
a
bundle
of
energy
here.
A
A
So
we
think
that
you
know
having
a
having
some
kids
in
the
home
would
be
a
great
place
for
her,
but
of
course
you
want
to
make
sure
that
the
kids
are
able
to
secure
the
door
and
not
let
her
come
out.
Beagles
are
known
for
following
the
scent,
so
if
they
get
out,
they'll
want
to
run
and
try
to
follow
that
scent,
whatever
that
scent
may
be,
but
Dora
is
just
a
really
sweet.
Little
girl
here,
she's
on
the
smaller
side
for
a
lot
of
beagles,
but
just
a
sweet
girl.
A
Again
she
needs
to
be
spayed
before
she
goes
home,
but
you
know,
and
a
beagle
is
not
a
dog
for
everybody.
So,
as
you've
heard
she's
a
little,
she
can
be
a
little
vocal.
So
sometimes
you
know
apartment
living
things
like
that
may
not
be
the
best
environment
for
her,
so
we're
gonna
start
accepting
applications
for
her.
She
is
available
for
adoption
now,
but
we
still
have
to
get
her
scheduled
for
her
space
surgery
and
again
she's
a
year
and
a
half
purebred
beagle
available
here
for
adoption
at
the
aim:
animal
shelter.
A
So
if
you're
interested
in
in
dory
come
on
down
here
and
take
a
look
at
her
and
and
meet
this
very,
very
sweet
girl,
she's
a
she's
just
a
handful
here,
but
it
needs
some
additional
training,
but
I
think
she
would
make
an
excellent
pet
for
a
family.
That's
out
there,
looking
for
a
pet,
especially
if
you
have
kids
I,
think
she'd
be
a
great
match.
So
come
on
down
and
meet
Dory
at
the
Ames
Animal
Shelter
and.
A
A
Gizmo,
unfortunately
made
contact
with
the
owners
child
and
the
tooth
just
nicked
the
face
so
caused
a
puncture
wound,
not
a
serious
bite
by
any
means.
It
was
absolutely
an
accident
according
to
the
previous
owner,
but
they
were
just
concerned
about
that.
Behavior.
You
know,
cocker
spaniels
are
not
always
known
for
being
the
absolute
best
breed
with
with
children.
We
do
believe
that
this
was
definitely
an
accident.
We've
seen
no
negative
behaviors
with
gizmo
at
all.
He
is
a
neutered
male
purebred,
cocker
spaniel
he's
about
nine
months
old.
A
As
you
see
lots
and
lots
of
energy
recently
groomed,
that's
very
important
for
this
breed
is
to
keep
them
groomed,
keep
their
ears
clean,
they're
prone,
sometimes
to
ear
infections,
so
very
important
to
keep
those
clean
because
of
the
incident
with
a
small
child,
we're
thinking
that
gizmo
shouldn't
be
in
a
home
with
children,
anything
younger
than
13
years
of
age.
We
are
accepting
applications
for
gizmo.
A
He
will
actually
be
available,
starting
on
Saturday
May
25th,
so
we'll
start
accepting
applications
for
him,
but
we
want
to
make
sure
that
he
goes
to
the
right
home,
the
right
environment.
He
has
just
got
a
little
nub
there
wagon.
He
is
just
an
excited
young
dog
that
needs
some
training.
You
know,
as
with
all
young
dogs,
they
have
that
they
need
that
puppy.
A
Those
puppy
classes
and
I'll
be
straining
to
make
them
good,
canine
citizens
here
so
and
again
because
of
the
previous
bite
that
he
had
and
again
we
do
see
when
we
do
believe
that
that
was
absolutely
an
accident
and
not
any
kind
of
bad
behavior
on
gizmo's
part
here
he
is
definitely
like.
I
said
just
a
lot
of
energy.
You
can
see
him
just
bouncing
all
over
here,
but
just
a
fun
dog
appears
to
like
other
dogs
really
well.
A
So
if
you
have
another
dog
and
or
you're
just
looking
for
your
first
time,
dog
gizmo
might
be
a
good
choice
for
you.
We
definitely
would
ask
people
to
look
up
the
breed
again,
a
cocker
spaniel.
They
do
have
specific
grooming
names
and
other
needs
that
you
want
to
make
sure
that
you're
aware
of
to
make
sure
that
you're
giving
gizmo
the
absolute
best
chances
at
becoming
a
good
part
of
the
family
and
just
being
a
great
dog
to
live
with
here.
So
you
can
just
see
he
is
just
so
excited
to
be
on
camera.
A
That's
our
show
for
today
remember
that's
just
a
sampling
of
the
animals
we
have
available
for
adoption.
We
didn't
show
you
any
cats,
but
of
course
we
have
lots
of
cats
to
adopt
here
at
the
Ames
Animal
Shelter.
If
you
want
to
check
out
our
website,
which
is
very
simple,
Ames
animal
shelter
org,
you
can
click
on
the
cats
available
for
adoption
dogs
available
for
adoption
or
the
small
animals
available
for
adoption.
A
Although
Jessica's,
not
small
she'll
appear
on
the
small
animals
for
adoption,
when
she's
available,
which
will
be
on
Friday,
you
could
also
see
the
lost
animals
at
the
shelter
by
clicking
on
those
links
as
well.
So
Ames,
Animal,
Shelter
org,
always
keep
an
eye
on
our
Facebook
page
again,
also
Ames
animal
shelter
for
news
and
information
about
what's
happening
here
at
the
shelter
special
adoptions,
special
recognition
of
donors
that
help
us
out.
A
So
often
we
can't
thank
them
enough
for
all
of
their
help
and
doing
everything
that
they
can
to
support
the
Ames
Animal
Shelter
and
the
animals
that
we
care.
For
here.
We
couldn't
do
the
work
that
we
do
without
you
guys
so
I
want
to
say
a
special
thanks
to
all
the
people
who
donate
here
to
us,
and
especially
our
partners
here
in
the
community.
The
Lincoln
Center
hi
V
I,
mentioned
that
we
have
the
seventh
annual
wine
and
dine
event.
A
We
also
recently
had
the
seeing
K
shelter
shindig,
where
we
partner
with
the
Story
County
Animal
Shelter,
to
attend
event
an
event
where
they
have
vaccinations
our
partner
vet
Somerset
vet
hospital
was
there
giving
rabies
vaccinations
at
low
cost.
There
was
also
microchips
from
the
Boone
vet
hospital.
There
was
some
nail
trimming
and
just
other
events
happening
that
event
and
we're
so
thankful
for
seeing
Kay
for
holding
that
and
supporting
the
Ames
Animal
Shelter,
as
well
as
the
Story
County
shelter.
A
So
it's
a
great
partnership
to
be
able
to
work
with
the
story:
county,
shelter,
we're
all
in
this
business
together
to
help
homeless
animals,
and
they
do
all
they
can
to
place
their
animals
there.
And
so
are
we.
So
if
you
don't
find
an
animal
you're,
looking
at
here
at
the
Ames
Animal
Shelter
go
to
the
story,
county
shelter
see
what
they
have,
or
maybe
the
Boone
Area
Humane
Society
or
the
Animal
Rescue
League,
there's
so
many
wonderful
pet
adoption
shelters
here
in
Iowa.
A
We
want
you
to
go
to
those
places
before
you
go
to
puppy
mills
or
our
pet
stores.
You
can
definitely
find
some
wonderful
pets
at
these
shelters.
The
Fort
Dodge
is
another
shelter
that
has
almost
home
Humane.
Society
is
another
agency
that
just
does
wonderful
work
and
have
lots
of
animals
to
choose
from
so
going
down
to
those
shelters
and
adopt
a
family
pet.
Thank
you
for
watching.
