A
Hello
and
thank
you
for
tuning
in
to
this
episode
of
animals
and
ames.
My
name
is
ron
edwards,
I'm
the
animal
control
supervisor
here
for
the
ames
animal
shelter
and
animal
control
program.
Today,
our
special
co-host
is
kathy
pike.
She
is
one
of
our
full-time
animal
control
officers
and
does
a
great
job
here,
caring
for
the
animals
here
in
the
animal
shelter
and,
of
course
out
in
the
community
when
we
get
calls
for
service.
So
let's
meet
kathy
and
some
adoptable
animals
here
at
the
ames
animal
shelter.
B
Hi,
I'm
kathy
pike,
I'm
the
full-time
animal
control
officer
here
at
the
ames
animal
shelter
in
animal
control,
and
today
I
have
quincy
here.
This
handsome
boy
is
estimated
at
about
approximately
five
years
of
age.
He's
a
neutered
male.
He
was
an
owner
surrendered
to
us
due
to
the
owner
not
being
able
to
continue
the
cost
of
care
for
him
you'll
kind
of
notice.
He
has
a
little
bit
looks
like
a
skin
issue.
It's
called
demodex
mange.
B
It
is
not
contagious
to
other
animals
or
to
humans
and
it's
easily
treatable
with
oral
medications
and
shampoos,
because
it's
kind
of
all
over
on
him.
It
went
for
some
time
untreated,
so
it
will
take
a
little
bit
of
time
to
get
him
back
to
you
know
the
best
shape
that
he
can
be,
but
he's
a
beautiful
dog.
Once
we
get
that
coat
cleaned
up.
You
know
those
colorings
of
that
brindling
will
shine
out,
he's
cute
and
adorable
anyway.
B
The
what
we've
heard
from
the
previous
owner
and
kind
of
what
we've
seen
here
is
he's
about
a
low
to
medium
activity
level,
he's
good
on
leash.
He's
lived
with
children
between
the
ages
of
one
and
nine
years.
Old
he's
been
great
with
kids
here
he
listens
pretty
well,
and
right
now
he's
just
looking
for
treats
quince
hey
come
here,
he's
also
lived
with
other
dogs.
He
has
not
lived
with
cats
before
and
based
on
kind
of
what
we've
seen
here
at
the
shelter.
B
That's
probably
the
way
it
should
stay,
no
other,
like
rabbits
or
cats,
or
anything
like
that.
That
would
be
considered
as
a
prey
hey
come
here,
but
he's
a
very
good
boy
listens
very
well
loves
to
chew
on
toys.
He
doesn't
necessarily
play
fetch,
but
he
does
like
to
chew
on
them
and
he
will
play
a
little
bit
of
kickball
soccer
with
those
toys
too.
So
a
very
sweet
boy
would
do
great
in
a
home
with
kids
and
another
dog,
maybe
or
even
by
himself
just
to
get
all
that
attention
on
his
own.
B
B
The
only
thing
we've
noticed
that
he
doesn't
seem
to
really
like
is
dogs
he's
a
little
scared
of
them.
So
we
would
like
a
home
that
doesn't
have
dogs,
but
he
seems
to
be
okay
with
being
around
other
cats.
He'd
be
good
with
kids
as
well
he's
a
pretty
easy
going
guy,
not
too
much
would
get
him
too
riled
up
other
than
maybe
a
dog.
So,
as
you
see
he's
just
kind
of
rolling
into
me,
super
sweet
guy,
still
pretty
young
and
playful
so
come
on
down
and
see
bryson.
B
This
here
is
nacho.
We
have
him
estimated
as
a
five-year-old
neutered
male
cat.
He
came
to
us
as
a
stray
as
well.
It's
a
big
guy
here,
very
sweet
and
affectionate
though
he
prefers,
though
no
other
cats
he's
kind
of
a
one,
and
only
he
does
okay
with
dogs,
but
have
to
be
a
very
respectful
cat-friendly
dog
that
he
would
have
to
live
with.
B
Didn't
seem
to
be
scared
of
him,
but
did
do
a
bit
of
a
hiss,
so
probably
hasn't
been
around
one
before,
but
would
probably
be
okay
in
a
home
with
the
dog.
He
has
met
some
children
here
at
the
shelter
and
did
good
with
them.
The
only
concern
we
have
with
him
is
he
can
be
a
little
scared
once
picked
up.
He
likes
to
keep
those
four
paws
on
the
ground,
but
if
you
have
a
secure
hold
for
kind
of
a
big
guy,
he
does
he's
okay
with
it.
B
It
just
that
first
kind
of
makes
him
a
little
scared,
but
he's
super
sweet,
very
affectionate,
very
playful
kind
of
has
a
silly
little
attitude.
Yeah
yeah,
and
he
kind
of
always
looks
like
he's
grumpy,
but
he's
not
he's
a
very
sweet
guy.
He
loves
to
be
brushed.
He
loves
these
temptation,
treats,
although
he's
not
eating
them,
maybe
a
little
camera
shy.
You
know
wanting
to
eat
on
camera,
but
loves
to
be
brushed
and
handled
and
just
super
affection.
If
you're
looking
for
a
big
gray
guy
nacho's,
your
boy.
B
B
He
did
live
with
a
very
young,
large
rambunctious
dog
and
it
looks
like
he
probably
had
a
bad
experience
with
that,
and
so
probably
living
with
dogs
would
not
be
a
good
idea,
as
he'd
probably
prefer
just
to
have
the
company
of
another
cat
and
people
he's
super
sweet.
He
got
the
name
cricket
because
he
makes
a
little
cricket
chirp
sound.
When
he's
happy
and
it's
awfully
cute,
he
loves
to
be
kind
of
a
lap
cat.
B
A
All
right
well,
there's
kathy
showing
us
three
adoptable
cats
and
one
dog
here
at
the
shelter,
and
I
have
to
tell
you
that
that
dog
is
one
of
my
favorite
dogs
that
we've
had
here
in
a
long
time,
such
a
gentle
disposition,
a
great
dog,
so
we're
really
hoping
that
quincy
finds
that
perfect
forever
home.
That's
going
to
provide
that
care
that
he
needs
and
hopefully
that
skin
will
clear
right
up
and
keep
it
in
check
and
make
sure
that
he
does
get
the
vet
care
that
he
does
need
and
deserves.
A
So
thanks
for
watching
the
show
today-
and
I
want
to
remind
everybody-
to
keep
an
eye
on
our
website
amesaanimalshelter.org,
you
can
always
see
pictures
of
the
animals
available
for
adoption
and
things
that
are
happening
here
at
the
shelter
and
also
on
our
facebook
page.
So
keep
an
eye
on
both
of
those
too
and
you'll
find
out.
Everything
happened
about
animals
here
in
ames,
thanks
for
watching.
