Description
Meet Emmanuel, Rowdy, Parisa, and Leo the Gecko!
A
Hello
and
thank
you
for
tuning
in
to
this
episode
of
animals
and
Ames.
My
name
is
Ron
Edwards
I'm,
the
animal
control
supervisor
here
for
the
Ames,
Animal
Shelter
and
animal
control
program.
I
think
our
first
guest
today
is
the
most
tame
puppy
that
we've
met
here
on
the
show
for
a
long
time.
This
is
Immanuel.
Immanuel
came
to
us
as
a
stray.
You
can
probably
see
here
on
his
head
that
he's
missing.
Quite
a
bit
of
hair
he's
actually
getting
medicated
baths
and
neck
scarred
treatments
for
the
next
five
months.
A
With
this,
so
he
had
a
condition
called
demodex
mange
it's
a
little
skin
mite.
That
causes
extreme
irritation
on
these
guys.
It's
a
common
thing
that
puppies
will
have
you'll
tend
to
see
it
in
puppies
a
little
bit
more.
If
this
is
not
treated
in
time.
Unfortunately,
we
got
to
Emmanuel
in
time
to
be
able
to
treat
him
this
same
condition
that
you
see
here
all
around
his
head
and
it
feels
good
for
the
scratches
head
there.
A
A
So
it
is
a
very
easy
condition
to
treat
it's
not
contagious
to
humans.
Obviously
man,
it's
also
not
contagious
to
other
dogs,
so
he
is
available
for
adoption
again.
His
stray
hold
period
just
ended,
he's
about
four
months
old,
we're
kind
of
labeling
him
as
a
Labrador
Retriever
mix
we're
not
really
sure.
What's
in
there
he's
just
a
really
cool
looking
mixed
breed
dog,
that's
available
for
adoption,
again
he's
only
four
months,
so
he's
going
to
be
a
good
size,
fella
I'm,
not
a
really
large
dog,
but
definitely
a
medium
to
large-sized
dog.
A
Again
just
four
months
old.
He
is
scheduled
to
be
neutered
and
he'll
have
all
of
his
age-appropriate
vaccinations,
heartworm
testing
everything
done
before
he
leaves
the
Ames
Animal
Shelter.
So
if
you
are
interested
in
a
puppy
and
have
experience
with
puppies
and
the
very
important
thing
with
training
them,
he
might
be
a
good
fit
for
you
and
your
family.
So
come
on
down
to
the
Ames
Animal
Shelter.
We
could
talk
to
you
more
about
his
condition
once
he's
treated.
A
It
should
be
fully
taken
care
of
and
no
need
for
any
other
treatment
once
he
is
taken
care
of,
but
we're
just
happy
that
he
made
it
here
in
time
and
were
able
to
start
the
treatment
he's
got
to
feel
a
lot
better.
I
can't
imagine
little
mites
crawling
around
on
my
skin
and
how
uncomfortable
that
would
make
him
feel
so
so
anyways
here
this
is
Emmanuel
again
very
cute
puppy
here
at
the
Ames
Animal
Shelter.
A
And
our
next
guest
today
is
rowdy.
Rowdy
came
to
us
as
part
of
our
pet
transfer.
Thank
you
for
the
kiss
came
to
us
from
the
pet
transfer
program
here
that
we
have
it's
a
life
saving
program.
He
is
from
the
Joplin
Humane
Society
in
Missouri.
We
work
with
that
shelter
quite
often
to
bring
dogs
here
to
the
Ames
Animal
Shelter,
when
all
of
our
dogs
have
been
adopted,
which
is
quite
often,
which
is
a
really
good
thing
to
have
happen
in
an
animal
shelter.
A
A
A
But
we
always
want
to
be
careful,
of
course,
not
to
expose
any
dog
in
the
home
to
kennel
cough
or
anything
like
that,
so
he
was
vaccinated
for
it.
So
hopefully
it's
just
going
to
be
a
really
quick,
little
cold
that
he
recovers
from
and
then
we
can
get
him
into
that
forever
home
that
he's
looking
for
so
he
has
heartworm
tested
negative.
Has
his
current
rabies,
vaccination
distemper
parvo
flea
treatment
deworming
microchip?
So
he
really
hello.
He
has
everything
and
actually
would
just
make
a
wonderful
dog
for
a
family
they're.
A
Estimating
he's
going
to
tell
me
a
secret
he's,
upset
he's
about
a
year
and
a
half
old
he's
looking
for
a
very
fun
and
active
family,
because
he's
got
a
lot
of
energy.
So
that
may
be
how
you
got
your
name
a
little
bit
there.
But
rowdy
is
a
very
nice
dog,
just
a
really
sweet,
loving
dog.
So
if
you're
looking
for
a
dog
to
add
to
your
family,
come
on
down
and
meet
rowdy
at
the
Ames
Animal
Shelter.
A
And
our
next
guest
today
is
a
very
special
kitty
that
just
came
to
us
this
morning.
She's
a
little
scared,
so
I'm
gonna,
try
and
make
this
nice
and
quick
and
not
scare
her
too
much.
Her
name
is
parisa.
She
came
to
us
from
the
Animal
Rescue
League
of
Iowa,
one
of
our
partner
shelters
that
we
again
have
our
life-saving
program.
Partnership
with
parisa
here
is
part
of
a
hoarding
case
that
you
may
have
seen
on
the
news.
Recently.
A
There
was
over
35
cats
that
were
taken
from
a
home
and
there
were
litters
of
kittens
and
adult
cats,
and
it
made
all
the
the
new
stations
around
here
so
we're
very
happy
to
be
able
to
partner
with
them
to
help
save
these
guys.
So
parisa
here
is
a
very
sweet
kitty.
She
is
in
the
kennel
with
her
sister,
so
they
are
a
bonded
pair.
We
are
trying
to
get
them
adopted
together.
A
Just
so
they'll
have
someone
that
can
speak
cat
to
them,
parisa
and
the
other
cats
that
we
brought
from
the
Emma,
Rescue,
League
and
I.
Believe
there
are
six
of
them
today
are
all
here
for
adoption
again
through
our
partnership
that
we
have
with
the
Animal
Rescue
League
of
Iowa,
so
we're
looking
for
very
special
homes,
especially
for
these
guys
that
came
from
such
a
horrible
situation
where
they
were
not
provided
the
care
and
the
love
and
attention
and
everything
that
they
should
have
had
from
the
beginning.
A
So
we
want
to
make
sure
these
guys
find
a
very
appropriate
home,
probably
for
these
little
kittens
it's
going
to
be
a
nice
and
quiet
home
where
they
have
time
to
get
adjusted
to
the
new
environment.
You
can
see
that
kind
of
loud
voices
and
even
just
the
touch
kind
of
scares
them,
so
they
need
to
learn
how
to
trust
humans
and
understand
that
they're
going
to
be
safe
and
secure
in
the
environment.
So,
if
you're
interested
in
parisa
and
her
sister
come
on
down
here
to
the
Ames
Animal
Shelter.
A
A
So
we
want
to
make
sure
that
people
understand
that,
even
if
it's
a
lizard
or
a
gecko
or
a
hamster,
a
guinea
pig,
a
mouse,
a
rat,
these
are
lifetime
commitments
for
these
guys-
and
you
see
Leo's
welcome
right
over
the
camera.
He's
not
camera
shy,
so
they
purchased
him
in
October
of
2018.
So
he
was
about
a
year
and
over
a
year
and
a
half
I
believe
based
on
when
they
would
have
got
him
at
the
pet
store.
He
eats
mealworms
and
crickets,
and
has
vitamins
and
lots
of
things.
A
So
there
are
very
specific
creatures
that
have
very
specific
space
requirements:
heating
requirements,
humidity
and
just
overall
care
and
you'll
see
a
little
bit
on
his.
If
you
can
see
his
skin,
there
he's
shedding
a
little
bit
so
eventually
more
of
those
scales
will
come
off
and
he's
really
going
to
come
up
and
say
hi
in
the
camera.
There
he's
sticking
his
tongue
out
at
you,
but
leo
is
a
really
cool
pet
they're,
fairly
easy
to
take
care
of,
but
they
are
very
special
creatures.
A
A
Well,
that's
our
show.
For
today
you
got
to
see
us
two
dogs
and
a
kitty,
that's
here
from
the
Animal,
Rescue
League
and,
of
course,
our
gecko
that
is
available
for
adoption
named
Leo.
So
you
never
know
what
kind
of
critters
are
going
to
come
here
to
the
Ames
Animal
Shelter
keep
an
eye
on
our
web
site.
You
can
always
see
them
in
real
time.
It's
updated
every
five
minutes.
A
So
if
you're
looking
for
a
particular
pet,
if
you
happen
to
be
looking
for
a
gecko,
you
can
always
click
on
the
other
type
animals
at
the
Ames
Animal
Shelter
and
see
a
picture
of
them
analyst
of
some
information
about
them.
So
thank
you
for
watching.
We
appreciate
all
your
support
and
the
people
that
come
in
here
to
adopt
our
pets.
Thank
you.
