A
Hello
and
thank
you
for
tuning
in
to
this
episode
of
animals
and
Ames.
My
name
is
Ron
Edwards
I'm,
the
animal
control
supervisor
here
for
the
Ames,
Animal
Shelter
and
animal
control
program.
It's
going
to
be
a
quick
show.
Today
we
just
got
a
few
animals
to
show
you
a
guinea,
pig
or
rabbit,
and
our
four
cats
that
are
in
Kitty's
City,
enjoying
their
cage,
free
environment
so
proud
to
be
a
no-kill
shelter
here
for
the
Ames
community.
Let's
get
started
our
first
guest
today
is
piggy.
A
Smalls
biggie
smalls
is
a
male
6
month
old
guinea
pig
that
is
looking
for
his
forever
home.
Typically,
we
would
recommend
these
guys
be
in
pairs.
Of
course,
we
want
to
males
together
and
two
females
together,
but
not
a
male
and
female,
because
we
don't
need
a
lot
of
extra
guinea
pigs,
but
he
is
a
single
guinea
pig.
So
if
you
have
a
guinea
pig
at
home,
that
is
a
male,
he
might
be
a
good
match
with
your
piggy.
A
So
if
you're
interested
in
him,
we
always
want
people
to
do
a
lot
of
research
on
these,
because
they
are
very
special
creatures.
They
have
special
dietary
needs.
You'll
see
here
that
he
is
just
really
enjoying
that
kale.
There's
lots
of
vitamin
C
and
kale
and
that's
extremely
important
to
guinea
pigs.
Actually,
a
lack
of
kale
can
actually
lead
to
their
death,
so
more
severe
illness.
So
we
definitely
don't
want
that
to
happen
to
this
piggy
smalls.
Here
he
was
surrendered
to
us
by
his
owner
because
he
could
no
longer
care
for
him.
A
You'll
see
he's
in
a
pretty
nice
setup
here,
so
he
has
access
to
his
timothy
hay.
All
of
his
greens.
There
you
see
he's
got
some.
The
kale
he's
got
some
romaine
lettuce.
They
also
eat
cilantro,
Italian
parsley.
Those
are
all
part
of
the
daily
treats
that
we
give
him.
It's
actually
not
so
much
a
treat
it's
part
of
their
very
they're,
important
diet.
He
also
has
some
pellets
and
of
course,
like
I
said.
The
most
important
part
of
his
diet
would
be
that
timothy
hay.
A
I'm
really
important
that
these
guys
get
the
proper
diet
they
need
to
survive
and
thrive.
His
cage
that
he
set
up
here
is
what
we
would
consider
to
be
the
minimal
size
a
lot
times.
You
can
buy
much
smaller
cages
in
pet
stores
and,
quite
honestly,
they're
just
not
appropriate
size.
So,
every
day
we
come
in
here
he
gets
a
new
towel,
it's
cleaned
out,
so
he
gets
fresh
bedding
material
which
is
the
towel
and
all
of
his
new
veggies
and
just
kind
of
gets
freshened
up
every
day.
A
So
that's
really
important
that
someone
understands
with
these
guys.
They
need
to
be
cleaned
up
every
single
day
for
more
information
about
guinea.
Pigs
go
to
the
guinea
pig
manual
dot-com,
and
you
can
see
more
about
raising
a
guinea
pig
and
what
you
need
to
do
to
give
them
the
proper
environment
that
they
need.
A
And
our
next
guest
today
is
Fuji.
Fuji
is
a
white
and
gray
French
lop
beautiful
bunny
came
to
us
as
a
stray
the
person
who
found
him
said
that
she
may
know
who
the
owner
is,
but
wasn't
really
sure
we
haven't
had
anybody
come
forward.
So
now
Fuji
is
available
for
adoption
here
at
the
Ames
Animal
Shelter.
A
We
did
have
to
take
him
to
the
vet
to
have
his
eye
looked
at
because
one
of
his
eyes
is
very
cloudy
and
appears
to
have
some
kind
of
a
condition
he's
currently
on
antibiotics
that
he
antibiotic
drops
that
he
gets
several
times
a
day
and
we
also
have
a
follow-up
that
exam
for
him.
So
we're
in
do
everything
we
can
to
make
sure
that
he
is
healthy
and
make
sure
he
gets
neutered
first,
he
is
a
male.
We
think
he's,
maybe
1
to
2
years
old,
but
we're
gonna
make
sure
that
he
is
healthy.
A
His
eye
gets
taken
care
of
and
he
gets
neutered
before
he
goes
to
his
forever
home,
as
we've
talked
about
in
previous
shows.
The
setup
that
you
see
right
now
that
he
is
in
is
the
next
dog
exercise.
Pin
you
can
get
them
online,
you
can
get
them
at
local
pet
stores,
but
that's
really
a
good
size
set
up
for
him.
You
see
it's
just
two
towels
that
we
have
down
there
for
him.
A
That
kind
of
gives
him
some
extra
cushion
so
he's
not
just
on
the
fluor,
but
every
day,
just
like
the
guinea
pig
we
clean
these
out
and
make
sure
that
he
has
a
nice
clean
bedding
everyday
for
him
and
just
as
the
guinea
pig
does,
he
gets
his
fresh
green
veggies.
Every
day
we
have
some
snow
peas
in
there,
some
cilantro
kale
romaine
lettuce,
also
very
important
to
the
bunny's
health.
A
Another
important
thing
is
the
litter
box
that
you
see
there,
that
has
timothy
hay
in
it
and
that's
probably
the
main
diet
that
we
want
the
bunnies
to
eat
so
that
roughage
helps
them
digest.
Their
food
keeps
them
healthy,
gives
them
lots
of
nutrients
that
they
need
to
survive.
So
if
you're
interested
in
a
bunny
make
sure
you
check
out
rabbit
org,
that's
the
website
for
the
house.
A
A
So
these
are
our
four
kitty
city
kitties
that
you
see
here.
These
guys
are
all
very
bonded
together,
we're
actually
requiring
that
these
guys
are
adopted
in
pairs.
It
could
be
any
combination
of
the
four
together,
but
all
really
nice,
kitties
and
again
they
are
all
bonded
together.
They've
lived
together
for
quite
a
while.
These
cats
actually
came
to
us
from
a
rescue
or,
unfortunately,
the
rescue
owner
passed
away
and
had
a
heart
attack.
A
So
now
all
of
those
cats
are
looking
for
their
forever
homes
and
we
helped
out
the
rescue
organization
by
taking
in
these
four
and
they
get
to
live
here
in
Kitty
city,
our
cage,
free
environment
where
they
get
to
stay
here
until
they
get
adopted.
So
if
someone
has
an
application
on
file
with
us
here,
you
can
come
on
into
this
room
and
meet
them.
So
we
have
here
the
four
cats
we
have
Barron.
A
A
That's
Conrad
they're,
the
kind
of
a
gray,
tabby
and
white,
but
again
all
of
these
guys
are
very
bonded
and
that's
why
we
want
to
make
sure
that
these
guys
are
able
to
stay
with
at
least
one
of
their
friends
again.
The
combination
is
entirely
up
to
the
adopter.
We
just
want
to
make
sure
these
two
kitties
that
these
cats
are
adopted
in
pairs.
A
Well,
that's
our
show
for
today
and
I
could
not
think
of
a
better
place
that
I
would
rather
be
here
than
in
Kitty
city
to
close
off
the
show.
These
guys
are
such
a
special
part
of
our
program
and
being
able
to
help
animals
that
are
at
other
agencies,
so
we're
very
proud
of
the
community.
The
people
who
adopt
from
us
and
all
the
people
who
donate
to
help
make
everything
possible
that
we
do
here.
