Description
Did you know the Bookmobile is not just for kids?
A
Hi
I'm
Mary,
Logsdon
and
once
again
here
I
am
at
your
library,
as
you
can
see
today
at
your
library,
I
am
seated
in
one
of
the
many
upholstered
comfortable
seating
areas
that
we
have
here
at
your
library.
On
the
second
floor,
if
you
haven't
stopped
by
to
curl
up
with
a
good
book,
I
recommend
that
you
do
so
sometime
soon.
A
A
A
B
Current
role
is
in
the
customer
account
services
department
which,
which
actually
means
I
work
at
the
front
desk
where
people
come
in,
we
called
our
Welcome
Desk
right
and
help
people
with
their
accounts.
You
know
checking
things
out
or
paying
fines.
We
don't
like
to
talk
about
that,
but
and
then
I
also
get
to
work
in
the
back,
where
we
have
our
automated
materials
handling
system,
which
is
a
lot
of
fun
because
it
checks
in
all
of
our
materials
for
s
and
sorts
them
and
is
pretty
amazing.
A
A
So
you
get
to
drive
the
bookmobile,
and
I
know
that
in
recent
months
of
the
bookmobile
has
celebrated
a
grand
opening,
in
the
same
way
that
the
main
library
is-
and
it's
just
amazing-
how
much
grant
activity
there's
been
here.
So
tell
me
a
little
bit
about
what
has
recently
happened
for
the
bookmobile.
Well,.
B
In
November,
we
took
delivery
of
a
brand-new
bookmobile
and
said
goodbye
to
our
old
bookmobile,
which
some
a
lot
of
people
don't
realize,
doesn't
know
that
we
named
our
own
bookmobile
miles.
Oh
that's
right!
Just
like
we
have
smiles,
the
big
blue
dog
who's,
our
mascot,
but
we
also
had
miles
the
bookmobile.
So
now
we
have
a
brand-new
bookmobile
and
we're
going
to
have
to
have
a
contest
to
find
come
up
with
a
new
name
for
our
new
book
will
be
all
we
haven't.
B
Have
it
figured
that
one
out
yet,
but
we're
pretty
excited
about
our
new
book
mobile
because
it
is
not
bigger
on
the
outside,
but
it
is
actually
bigger
on
the
inside
now.
What
I
mean
by
that?
Is
that
the
way
that
it's
been
constructed
on
the
inside
there's
more
Headroom,
so
for
all
of
our
customers
who
are
over
six-foot,
they
don't
have
to
walk
like
this
great,
and
it
also
has
more
bench
space
for
people
who
like
to
sit
and
while
they're
browsing
through
the
books,
mm-hmm
and
it's
it's
just-
has
better
everything
really.
A
A
B
It
has
a
very
child-centred
graphics
s
on
the
outside,
so
people
do
is
get
that
impression
that
it's
just
for
children
and
it's
not
right.
It's
really
for
everyone:
families,
kids,
but
also
single
adults,
young
adults
and
older
adults.
We
have
customers,
who've
been
coming
to
the
bookmobile
for
20-30
years,
really,
okay,.
A
B
A
B
B
B
At
this
time
we
are
Monday
nights.
We
go
to
saw
your
school,
so
we're
way
out
on
the
west
side
of
town
and
then
on
Tuesdays.
We
go
some
more
of
the
central
north
location.
We
go
to
st.
Cecilia
school
right
in
the
afternoon
and
then
in
the
evening
we
head
south
also
we're
at
old
orchard
of
the
mobile
home
park
for
a
little
while
and
then
we'd
go
even
further
south
to
Kate,
Mitchell,
smile,
okay
and
so
thats
gets
us
through
tuesday
and
then
on
wednesday.
B
A
B
Think
it's
the
only
bookmobile
in
the
United
States
that
has
flames
illustrated
on
the
on
the
front
and
the
outside,
and
that's
because
one
of
the
characters
in
the
books
by
Derek
Anderson
is
hot
rod.
Hampster,
who
has
his
race
car
yeah,
so
he
put
hot
rod
hamster
on
their
very
prominently
on
one
side
of
the
bookmobile,
along
with
a
character
that
of
Derek's.
That's
also
very
well
known,
little
quack
little
quacks
there
with
his
mom
yeah
and
then
towards
the
back
on
the
on
the
left
side.
As.
B
Purple
gorilla,
yes,
so
all
those
are
well-known:
characters
to
children
and
parents
who
read
eric's
books,
yeah
and
we're
really
to
get
Derek
was
a
real
coup.
He's
a
nationally
known
illustrator
award-winning
illustrate,
more
importantly,
he's
an
Ames
person.
He
doesn't
live
in
Ames
now,
but
he
graduated
from
ames
high.
His
parents
still
live
here
names,
so
he
comes
back
to
visit,
wonderful
and
so
we're
really
excited
when
he
said
yeah
I've
got
time
in
my
schedule.
I
can
do
that.
I
can
illustrate
the
outside
of
your.
Your
book.
Isn't.
A
That
amazing,
so
Derek
Anderson,
who
is
a
a
mess.
Somebody
who
grew
up
in
Ames,
has
gone
on
to
be
very
successful:
children's
book
writer
and
illustrator,
and
he
his
characters,
are
on
the
exterior
of
the
library
and
presenting
our
services
out
in
the
community
yeah
on
the
road,
and
we
are
just
so
thrilled
just
so
thrilled
now
I
know
he
emphasizes
something
special
about
storey
County.
He
says
he.
B
Has
this
is
a
one
of
his
books,
this
one
most
of
his
books.
He
illustrates
somebody
else
writes
so,
for
instance,
Gladys
is
Derek,
wrote
and
illustrated,
but
with
little
quack
and
hot
red
hamster
we've
got
Cynthia
Lord
and
Lauren
Thompson
or
who
are
the
writers
and
he's
done
there
illustrations
for
them
great,
but
storey
County.
This
is
a
really
special
book
because
of
course,
we
live
in
storey
County
and
it's
all
about
a
farmer
and
his
animals
building
a
farm
from
scratch.
B
Yes,
yes,
it's
really
cute,
and
so
he
did
one
whole
side
of
the
bookmobile
as
if
the
farmer
and
his
animals
are
building
the
bookmobile
wow.
So
it's
really
cute
the
back,
there's
like
boards
and
they're
painting
over
the
boards
and
on
the
door.
It
says:
there's
always
it's
always
story
time
in
storey,
County
Wow!
So
it's
I
think
that's
wonderful,
because
we
really
push
reading
in
early
literacy
skills
for
our
children.
So
that
was
a
pretty
special
point.
A
B
A
B
It's
it's
great
fun.
When
somebody,
a
lot
of
people
have,
we
are
coming
on.
The
bookmobile
who've
actually
never
been
on.
The
book
will
go
for
ya,
and
so
I
really
encourage
people
to
come
out
and
just
just
to
see
the
bookmobile
just
to
see
what
we've
got
to
offer.
We
think
of
it
as
your
neighborhood
branch
of
the
library
yeah,
so
yeah
we're
and
it's
fun.
They
come
on
the
bookmobile
and
they
say
smells
new
as
it
has
that
new,
not
new
car
smell,
so
much
as
a
new
new
carpet.
You
know
and.
A
Are
so
really
enjoying
that?
Well,
we
are
just
so
fortunate
in
this
community
to
have
had
the
support
that
has
allowed
us
to
update
and
renovate
and
and
present
new,
so
many
of
our
facilities,
our
services
and
the
bookmobile
like
no
has
been
in
service,
for
is
this
a
special
years
as
a
round
number
are.
B
B
A
Often
bookmobiles
do
go
out
beyond
the
boundaries
of
a
city
so
to
have
a
neighborhood
bookmobile.
That's
focused
on
bringing
bringing
our
services
out
to
these
different.
As
you
said,
sections
of
Ames
is
just
great
and
keep
your
eyes
out
for
the
bookmobile,
which
frequently
appears
at
parades
and
special
events
out
and
about
town.
A
A
B
A
Something
else,
I
hope
that
you
are
aware
of
is
the
many
many
programs
that
we
offer
here
at
the
Ames
Public
Library,
and
this
is
no
exception
in
March.
You
will
find
activities
happening
throughout
the
month
check.
Our

in

our

which
is
happening

and
twelve
o'clock,
as
well
as
a
number
of
other,
really
really
entertaining
stimulating
interesting
programs
and
activities

at
your
library.
