From YouTube: At Your Library
Description
Mary highlights how to use some of the new features at the Ames Public Library
A
Hi
I'm
Mary,
Logsdon
and
once
again
here
I
am
at
your
library
last
time
when
I
visited
with
you
at
your
library,
I
was
seated
in
one
of
our
new
spaces
here
within
the
expanded
library.
Today
I
thought
that
I
would
take
you
to
a
couple
of
different
places
and
demonstrate
some
of
the
new
features
of
our
new
library
and
hopefully
answer
some
questions
that
you
may
have
about
how
to
use
study
rooms,
meeting
rooms,
computers
and
even
our
fabulous
new
media
box.
A
Here
at
your
aims,
public
library,
first
I'm
going
to
show
you
how
to
book
a
meeting
room.
There
are
lots
of
people
in
the
community
who
have
already
discovered
that
in
our
expanded
library,
we
have
four
meeting
room
spaces
on
the
second
floor
that
can
be
booked
in
advance.
In
addition
to
that,
we
have
our
library
auditorium.
The
far
will
t
brown
auditorium
on
the
first
floor,
which
is
reservable
bookable
and
since
we've
opened
we've
put
into
practice
a
brand-new
piece
of
software
that
can
enable
you
to
request
a
meeting
room
of
the
library
staff.
A
So
I'm
going
to
show
you
now
from
our
website
how
you
would
do
that,
as
you
can
see.
I'm
now
looking
at
the
Ames
public
library
website,
aims
public
library,
org
and
I'm
on
our
homepage
on
the
left-hand
side
of
the
home
page
and
this
list
of
choices
of
places
where
you
can
go
within
the
website,
I'm
going
to
choose
events
and
clases
and,
as
you
can
see,
the
third
choice
on
this
page
is
meeting
rooms
and
it
simply
says,
learn
about
the
library's
meeting
rooms
and
study
rooms
or
book
a
meeting
room
online.
A
There
is
great
information
here
about
how
to
reserve
a
meeting
room.
You
can
take
some
time
to
read
through
this.
It
includes
the
library's
policy
for
use
of
a
of
a
meeting
room,
and
it
eventually
leads
you
to
an
on-line
booking
system,
very
straightforward
kind
of
a
request
page.
Actually,
you
just
need
to
search
for
a
space
by
the
date
and
time.
So,
let's
just
experiment
here
and
say
that
I
would
like
to
have
a
library.
A
So,
as
you
can
see,
what
this
displays
is
a
photograph
of
each
of
the
rooms
that's
available
for
booking
in
the
library,
the
dl
h
ross
board
room
on
the
second
floor,
the
road,
every
room,
the
danfoss
room
and
the
peo
room.
In
addition
to
on
the
first
floor,
the
far
will
t
brown
auditorium-
what's
really
lovely
about
this
website-
is
that
it
also
indicates
the
room
capacity.
So
you
can
get
a
sense
for
whether
this
is
the
right
space
for
your
group.
A
My
groups
only
going
to
be
about
eight
people,
so
I
think
the
board
room
would
be
perfect
because
it
has
a
capacity
of
14.
So
I'm
just
going
to
select
pick
me
and
at
this
point
what
the
software
prompts
you
to
do
is
to
either
create
an
account
or
to
log
in
with
an
account
that
you
have
already
created.
So
essentially,
what
you
need
to
do
is
to
establish
an
account
to
book
a
meeting
room.
This
is
separate
from
your
library
card
and
pin.
A
This
is
a
separate
account,
that's
tied
to
an
email
and
a
password
that
you
select,
but
if
you
just
want
to
scope
out
what's
available
at
the
Ames
public
library
on
a
particular
day
at
a
particular
time
in
a
particular
space,
you
can
certainly
get
started
doing
that
by
using
the
software
that
I've
just
demonstrated.
Likewise,
if
there
is
equipment
that
you're
interested
in
using
for
your
meeting,
we
will
communicate
the
availability
of
that
on
this
on
this
page
as
well.
So
that's
just
bare
bones.
A
Want
you
to
know
again
where
to
find
the
place
where
you
can
request
a
meeting
room
from
the
Ames
Public
Library,
and
once
you
do
submit
your
request,
library,
staff
member
will
be
getting
back
to
you.
So
again,
you
need
to
have
an
email
and
you
can
submit
request
online
if,
for
some
reason,
this
isn't
the
way
that's
most
convenient
for
you
to
communicate
with
the
library,
give
us
a
call,
and
we
would
be
happy
to
assist
you
by
phone.
A
If
you
are
interested
in
using
a
study,
room,
I
hope.
The
word
is
out:
we've
got
a
lot
of
choices
there
as
well.
The
library
has
three
study
rooms
up
here
on
the
second
floor
that
are
available
on
a
first-come,
first-served
basis.
Likewise,
we
have
five
study
rooms
downstairs
adjacent
to
the
youth
services
area
that
are
available
on
a
first-come,
first-served
basis.
A
Anyone
can
use
any
one
of
those
rooms-
it's
they
are
not
reserved
for
adults
on
the
second
floor
and
youth
on
this.
On
the
first
floor,
if
you
are
interested
in
using
a
study
room,
they
are
available
for
two
hour
blocks
of
time
per
day,
two
hours
per
person
or
per
day,
and
we
don't
even
require
any
use
of
software
in
that
case
simply
come
up
to
the
reference
desk
here,
where
I'm
standing
on
the
second
floor
and
ask
a
staff
member.
A
If
there's
a
study
room
available,
we
will
simply
take
your
first
name
and
walk
you
down
to
the
study
room.
The
rooms
hold
various
sized
groups,
so
just
will
get
a
sense
for
about
what
size
group
you
have
and
if
you
wish
to
have
a
study
room
we'd
be
happy
to
take
you.
There
exact
same
process
on
the
first
floor,
just
walk
up
to
the
youth
services
desk
as
one
of
the
staff
members
there.
A
If
there's
a
study,
room
available
and
we'd
be
happy
to
let
you
use
the
study
room
study
rooms
just
like
the
meeting
rooms
are
completely
wireless
accessible.
So
if
you
have
your
own
laptop
or
any
kind
of
device
that
you
want
to
use
to
access
the
internet,
you
will
have
really
robust
access
throughout
the
building
to
include
our
meeting
rooms
and
studying
spaces.
So
please
stop
here
at
the
reference
desk
and
ask
if
you
have
any
questions
about
using
the
library's
meeting
rooms
and.
A
One
of
the
features
of
the
new
library
that
we're
really
very
proud
of
is
the
expanded
public
computer
stations
right
now,
I'm
standing
in
an
area
in
the
mid
way
across
the
adult
services
section
that
contains
15
public
computers
that
are
available
on
a
first-come,
first-served
basis
or
by
reservation,
if
they're,
all
in
use
for
three
hours
a
day.
We're
really
really
pleased
that
we
were
able
to
provide,
in
this
new
space
quite
a
bit
more
access
to
the
internet
on
libraries,
public
computers.
So
this
grouping
here
of
computers
is
centrally
located.
A
There
is
a
smaller
grouping
on
the
north
side
of
the
building,
as
well
as
a
smaller
grouping
on
the
south
side
of
the
building.
Each
one
of
these
groupings
of
computers
is
available.
As
I
say
you
do
need
to
have
a
library
card
account.
You
know
their
library
card
number
and
PIN
to
use
our
public
computers.
If
you
do
not
have
a
library
account,
it
is
also
possible
to
get
a
computer
use,
a
card
which
you
would
do
down
at
our
welcome
desk
area
on
the
first
floor.
A
So
whatever
it
is
that
you
need
to
do
once.
You're
ready
to
come
upstairs
and
use
our
public
computers
ask
at
the
adult
services
desk
if
you
need
any
assistance
using
using
our
equipment.
If
you
wish
to
print
something
from
the
computer
as
many
people
often
do,
you
can
send
a
print
order
which
can
then
be
picked
up
at
any
of
three
print
release
stations
on
the
second.
On
the
second
floor,
likewise,
we
have
a
print
release
station
on
the
first
floor.
So
just
to
recap,
there
are
about
twenty
eight
computers.
A
On
the
second
floor,
all
of
these
computers
print
to
any
one
of
several
print
release
stations
where
I'm
standing
right
now
is
in
front
of
one
of
the
print
release
stations
and,
as
you
can
see,
it's
a
pretty
straightforward
display
with
choices.
It's
it's
a
touchscreen
approach.
So
if
you
needed
to
release
a
print
job,
you've
just
done
some
searching
online
created
an
application
done
whatever
it
is,
prepared
a
document
for
a
class,
and
you
want
to
print
a
hard
copy
of
it.
You
would
send
it
to
be
printed.
A
It
would
indicate
how
much
it's
going
to
cost
to
pay
for
that.
For
that
item,
it's
ten
cents,
a
page,
then
you
come
up
from
your
from
your
desktop
computer
over
to
the
kiosk
here
and
retrieve
the
print
job.
So
once
you
tap
on
release
the
print
job,
it's
going
to
request
your
library
card
number
because,
as
I
say,
a
lot
of
people
on
this
floor
are
sending
print
orders
to
these
print
release
stations
and
what
ties
your
print
order
to
the
to
the
kiosk?
Is
your
Library
account
number?
A
So
you
would
enter
in
your
library
card
and
it
would
indicate
how
much
money
you
need
to
put
into
the
coin
machine.
You
take
care
of
that
and
then
your
print
job
would
come
out
here
on
the
on
the
copier
printer.
So
that's
if
you
want
to
release
a
print
job,
what
you
can
also
do
here
is
touch
to
copy
scan
or
fax.
A
So
this
is
really
an
all-in-one
scanner
print
station
and
a
lot
of
people
are
familiar
with
this
sort
of
technology
and
so
they're
coming
into
the
library
and
are
just
delighted
to
see
that
we
have
it
now
as
well.
So
if
you
want
to
scan
something
from
a
hardcopy,
you
would
simply
do
that
here
and
indicate
whether
you
want
it
to
be
a
black
and
white
or
color
color
copy.
A
Again,
once
you
tap
your
choice,
you
are
going
to
be
prompted
to
add
either
ten
cents
per
page
for
a
black-and-white.
In
our
coin,
release
coin
machine
there
or
fifty
cents
for
a
color
copy
once
you've
done
that
the
work
comes
out
in
the
same
place
as
a
print
release.
Job
will
come
out,
something
that's
pretty
nice
right
now.
A
lot
of
people
are
taking
advantage
of.
This
is
the
ability
to
scan
a
document
and
to
save
it
to
a
flash
drive.
That's
something
again!
A
lot
of
people
are
really
delighted
when
they
find
out.
A
They
can
do
that.
Now,
folks
will
come
in
with
a
copy
of
a
lease,
for
example,
that
they've
signed
that
they
now
need
to
scan
and
send
in
an
email
to
a
to
another
party.
All
of
that
can
happen
right
here
at
this
station.
So
that's
just
a
little
bit
of
an
introduction
into
what
our
print
release
copy
scanner
document
station
can
do.
For
you
again,
it
is
located
conveniently
near
some
of
our
public
computer
stations,
which
are
available
for
three
hours
a
day
here
at
your
aims.
Public
Library.
A
A
Now
that
I've
shown
you
some
of
the
nice
features
on
the
second
floor,
I'm
excited
to
show
you
a
self-service
area
here
on
the
first
floor
that,
if
you
haven't
yet
visited,
I
really
do
invite
you
to
do
that
soon.
I'm,
standing
in
the
self-service
holds
area,
and
here
in
this
area
that
is
very
close
to
the
welcome
desk
and
the
library
staff
members
to
assist
you
with
your
account
information
and
help
you
to
check
out
materials.
We
have
several
library
catalog
set
up.
A
I
have
a
little
bit
of
an
interesting
note
if
you've
ever
wondered
about
the
iron,
the
metal
vertical
beams
that
are
set
up
here
in
the
lobby
and
create
a
bit
of
a
screen
between
your
library,
catalog
on
one
side
and
catalogues.
On
the
other
side,
they
actually
have
been
repurposed
from
our
pre
1980s
library
buildings.
So
they
are
components
of
earlier
library
shelving
that
the
architects
were
able
to
incorporate
into
the
design
of
a
very
contemporary
welcoming
area
here
in
the
lobby
of
the
library.
A
So
at
this
point,
though,
what
I
really
want
to
tell
you
about
is
the
media
box,
because
the
media
box
is
just
about
one
of
the
most
modern
things
that
we
have
to
offer
here
at
the
library
right
now
we
have
got
a
vending
machine,
two
of
them
in
the
area
here
that
contain
over
a
thousand
items,
video
games
for
the
first
time
ever
popular
movies
and
popular
music.
So
we
have
discs
in
this
vending
machine
which
we
call
the
media
box
and
a
way
to
check
them
out
is
to
go
to
a
library
catalog.
A
So,
as
I
said,
you
can
from
home
browse
what's
available
in
the
media
box
and
then
just
run
in
sometime
before
the
library
closes
and
then
retrieve
the
item
from
the
media
box.
Here
in
the
main
lobby,
after
you've
entered
your
library
card
and
PIN
and
selected
borrowed
disc,
you
will
go
over
to
the
media
box
to
retrieve
your
item
at
the
media
box.
You
simply
need
to
enter
your
library
card
again.
A
All
items
from
the
media
box
do
check
out
for
one
week
and
there
are
no
renewals,
so
it's
treated
a
little
bit
different
than
the
other
movies
in
the
collection,
but
they
are
here
available
to
browse,
to
check
out
and
to
bring
home
for
one
week.
If
you
have
questions
about
anything
that
I've
shared
with
you
today,
please
do
stop
by
the
reference
desk,
give
us
a
call
to
395
646
or
even
send
us
an
email
by
clicking
on
ask
a
librarian
on
the
library's
website.
