A
Hi
I'm
Mary,
Logsdon,
and
once
again,
I'm
here
at
your
library
in
april
at
your
library,
if
you
haven't
yet
had
a
chance
to
take
a
look
at
our
calendar,
there
are
wonderful
programs
occurring
for
people
of
all
ages.
Today
I
have
some
special
guests
who
are
going
to
tell
us
about
one
in
particular,
that
is
going
to
really
be
fabulous
and
you're
not
going
to
want
to
mix
miss
so
stick
around.
A
A
I'm,
just
so
thrilled
that
you
agreed
to
spend
some
time
here
with
me
today
to
talk
up
one
of
many
wonderful
programs
occurring
in
April.
This
one
is
Cinderella
the
Opera,
so
Linda
and
Bernie
before
we
get
started
talking
about
Cinderella
I
would
just
love
for
you
to
just
take
a
moment
to
say
something
about
who
you
are
and
why
I've
invited
you
in
particular
to
come.
Speak
about
this
today,
Linda.
B
C
B
And
it
took
me
more
than
15
years
of
going
with
him
before
I
really
lapped.
It
up
really
realized
how
powerful
and
meaningful
it
and
B,
and
now
we
are
very
happy
to
be
able
to
bring
a
children's
opera,
a
family
opera
to
the
library,
and
this
one
is
particularly
appealing
because
we
all
know
the
story
of
Cinderella,
but
we
just
think
we
do
we'll
talk
a
little
bit
later
about
the
differences
in
Rossini's
cinderella
from
walt
disney.
Ok,
let's.
A
C
B
Bernie
remember
to
say
that
there's
a
chapter
in
Ames
Iowa,
and
so
we
we
meet
once
a
month.
Ok
and
there
are
special
programs.
So
this
almost
you'll
have
something
to
say
about
that
yeah
at
the
end
of
the
show,
I
think,
but
there's
a
lot
of
opera
going
on
that
people
don't
know
about,
and
so
that's
why
it's
so
wonderful
that
the
Opera
is
going
to
broadcast
it
and
and
advertised
it
for
for
us
and
for
all
ages.
That's
what's
wonderful
about
Cinderella!
Well,.
A
That's
what
it
was
really
appealing
to
me
I,
so
appreciate
that
way
back
in
the
fall.
When
do
you
first
came
to
me
and
said:
hey?
Can
we
partner
at
the
library
and
I
think
many
people
do
know
that
so
much
of
what
we're
able
to
do
here
at
the
library
we
do
because
of
partnerships
with
individuals
and
community
organizations.
This
particular
performance
here
at
the
Ames
public
library,
on
April,
seventeenth
at
two
p.m.
B
B
A
C
Rossini
in
general,
if
you
have
heard
about
operas
and
or
maybe
attended,
some
many
operas
are
sort
of
Downers
sub.
It
all
ends
with
everybody
laying
on
the
stage
Rossini
sort
of
changed
that
he
came
in
and
wrote
comic
operas.
So
three
of
his
most
famous
operas,
including
Cinderella,
all
have
very
happy
endings.
Okay
and
the
other
thing
that
Rossini
introduced
is
something
we
call
bel
canto
beautiful
singing.
So
it
really
features
a
beautiful
singing
sure
the
acting
is
important,
but
the
singing
is
really
and
what
has
happened.
C
A
B
Cigarettes
who
are
coming
are
part
of
the
Des
Moines
Metro
Opera
program,
and
they
are
the
young
singers.
Most
of
them
have
their
master's
degree
in
vocal
performance.
So
it's
not
that
they're
just
beginning,
but
they're,
very
enthusiastic
actors
as
well
as
singers,
and
it
takes
both
these
days
in
opera
used
to
be
be
an
opera
singer
and
just
stand
there
saying
and
today
it's
the
ones
who
can
really
act
it
out
to
who
are
rising
is
to
the
top
and
I.
C
B
A
B
B
Am
going
to
talk
a
little
bit
I
was
going
to
melbourne,
he
was
talking
about
Cinderella
I.
Just
it
was
written
in
Italian.
Know
everybody
out
there
that
it's
going
to
be
in
English
at
the
library.
Don't
worry
we're
not
going
to
go
into
Italian,
but
just
the
name
Cinderella.
Yes,
an
Italian
is
Jenna,
rent
Allah
and
it's
even
that
sounds
so
much
more
musical
Jenna.
B
A
B
B
But
it
helps
to
know
these
things
and
I
will
ask
the
pianist,
who
is
marvelous
speaker
to
the
crowd,
to
explain
a
little
bit
to
the
audience
so
that
they
catch
it
right
away
when
I
started
going
to
the
Opera,
I
didn't
know
who
was
who
or
what
was
happening
and
I?
Think
if
you
know
at
the
very
beginning
that
the
whole
story
makes
a
little
better
sense,
but
they
do
have
the
two
nasty
sisters
and
one
is
Clarinda
and
the
other
tis
be
so
those
names
don't
seems
the
only
two
girls
in
the
play.
B
C
B
Know
no,
and
instead
of
the
fairy
godmother
there
is
the
princes
tutor,
the
teacher
of
the
prince,
and
he
is
the
philosopher
and
the
wise
one
and
he
makes
special
things
happen.
Oh
so,
if
they
know
those
things
before
it
starts,
but
the
the
names
are
interesting
to
the
father
is
a
nobleman
Cinderella's
biological
father
and
his
name
is
Magnifico,
oh
and
he
is
the
largest
member
of
the
cast.
Oh,
it's
just
very.
B
We
have
met
the
cast
in
another
occasion
and
he
is
such
a
character
that
I
think
that
the
kids
are
going
to
love
him.
Even
though
he's
mean
I
mean
just
Cinderella
at
the
beginning,
so
they
live
in
a
kind
of
a
rundown
home
he's
wealthy
family
was
sort
of
wealthy,
but
where
is
happening
on
bad
time
so
having
a
prince
come
in
and
marry
one
of
those
two
daughters
instead
of
Cinderella,
it
was
a
real,
exciting
thing
for
this
father.
So
we'll
see
what
happens
in
the
end
and
I.
A
So
thrilled
about
this,
and,
as
you
said,
there
is
also
live
musical
accompaniment
to
the
live,
singing
I.
Think
it's
just
going
to
be
so
grand.
You
know
that
this,
the
Des
Moines
Metro
opera,
through
their
educational
activities,
has
been
throughout
the
state
of
Iowa
to
share
this
particular
production
with
young
people
and.
B
C
Go
to
any
third
grader,
okay,
they
the
same
singers,
are
also
teachers
and
they
went
into
the
third
grade
rooms
and
they
did
workshops
and
taught
them
about
some
of
the
words
to
go
along
with
opera
and
and
had
actually
had
the
children
sort
of
designed
their
own
mini
opera.
So
the
children
in
the
third
grade
know
about
recitative,
and
they
know
about
arias
and
solos
and
these
sorts
of
things.
So
they
would
be
wonderful
if
they
bring
their
parents
along
and
share
their
infant,
their
knowledge
with
the
parents
at
this
production.
A
B
A
B
Des
Moines
Metro
opera,
the
classroom
work,
yes,
where
the
students
really
were
interacting
and
planning
an
opera
and
then
those
third
graders
all
came
to
ames
high
school
at
one
time
and
the
cast
same
cast
did
a
shorter
opera,
the
Billy
Goats
Gruff,
which
had
an
anti-bullying
theme.
Of
course,
the
troll
under
the
bridge
was
the
gruff
and
the
Billy
Goats
through
kind
of
they
tangled
and
then
they
made
up.
B
And
then
we
all
all
these
children
sang
this
song,
this
little
chorus
about
being
nice
to
everyone
and
then
we're
taking
to
step
up
further
to
enjoy
Cinderella
with
our
family.
If
we,
if
we
can
get
them
there
and
and
with
the
public
of
Ames
and
I,
think
it's
a
great
great,
a
gift
to
all
of
us.
The
library
in
Turin,
just
coordinating
nothing
good
things
happen
well,.
A
Thank
you
for
saying
that
and
I
think
we
likewise,
you
know,
could
not
here
at
the
library
offered
nearly
the
breath
and
the
quality
of
programming
that
we
do
without
individuals
like
you
who
are
enthusiastic
or
passionate
about
different
kinds
of
activities,
and
then
you
bring
ideas
to
us
and
then
you
do
a
lot
of
the
behind-the-scenes
work
for
sure
to
make
it
happen.
Is
there
anything
else
about
this
that
we
want
to
share
I'd
like
to.
A
A
A
A
I
am
so
glad
today
that
I
had
an
opportunity
to
talk
with
Bernie
and
Linda
about
the
upcoming
program
in
April
on
April,
seventeenth,
Cinderella,
the
Opera
by
Rossini.
If
you
do
come
as
I
hope,
you
will
and
you
catch
the
Opera
bug
as
they
have
keep
your
eye
on
our
calendar
in
May,
because
we
are
also
going
to
be
offering
a
four-part
series
with
a
special
guest
lecturer,
VV
raman,
who
last
year
offered
a
program
series
about
opera,
and
this
may
it's
going
to
be
all
about
Rossini.
A
So
you
have
lots
of
opportunities
to
learn
about
opera
and
Rossini
here
at
the
Ames
Public
Library.
Thanks
to
the
terrific
work
of
community
partners.
Just
a
reminder,
page
one
is
available
in
print.
You
can
also
sign
up
for
page
one
on
the
library's
website
so
that
you
will
receive
all
of
the
information
about
what's
happening
directly
in
your
email
each
month.
A
So
take
the
time
to
do
that
if
you'd
like
or
ask
us
here
at
the
library,
follow
us
on
Facebook
and,
of
course,
stop
and
ask
any
questions
of
any
of
the
library
staff
who
are
here
and
eager
to
chat
with
you
about
library,
programming,
library
collections,
library,
services,
I'm,
so
glad
that
I
had
a
chance
to
promote
something
special
happening
at
the
library
today.
This
is
Mary
Logsdon.
Once
again,
at
your
library.
