A
A
Well,
as
I
said,
I'm
really
excited
that
today,
at
your
library,
I've
been
able
to
convince
to
community
members
to
join
me
here.
I
have
Lynette
and
Bonnie
good
morning
good
morning,
I'm.
So
glad
you're
here
with
me
today,
because
we're
at
the
time
of
our
annual
promotions,
where
we're
gearing
up
for
our
fall
programming
at
your
library
and
I
am
really
excited,
because
once
again
we
are
going
to
be
offering
a
full
slate
of
genealogy
plus
programming
here
at
the
library.
A
Both
have
you
been
really
involved
with
this
endeavor
because
of
your
involvement
at
the
story,
county
genealogical
society.
So
Lynette,
do
you
want
to
get
started
by
just
giving
me
a
little
bit
of
background
about
what
about
the
history
of
the
story,
county,
genealogical,
society?
First
of
all,
glad.
B
A
B
And
we
have
monthly
meetings
during
the
school
year,
so
it's
on
the
second
Monday
and
it's
here
at
the
library
at
six-thirty,
in
the
Far
LT
brown
auditorium
open
to
everyone.
So
we
publish
you
know
what
are
the
top
upcoming
topics,
so
we
invite
anyone
to
come
and
I
will
put
in
a
plug
for
the
dues
to
join
our
ten
dollars
a
year
for
an
individual
fifteen
dollars
for
a
family
so
definitely
affordable
to
join
the
society.
Okay,.
A
100
members,
okay,
now
I
know
it
was
several
years
ago
soon
after
we
opened
in
this
expanded
space
that
bonnie,
I
believe
you
approached
me
with
the
idea
of
doing
even
more
with
the
library,
besides
helping
with
the
collection
and
just
using
the
library
as
a
space
for
your
monthly
meetings.
You
came
to
me
with
some
grand
ideas
about
program
and
beyond
that.
So
tell
me
a
little
bit
about
where
genealogy
plus
came
from
well.
C
We
did
a
group
of
us
decided.
It
was
Mary
lore
and
I
and
Nancy
long
talked
a
great
deal
about
wanting
to
expand
our
educational
programming
and
offer
some
help
with
research
and
get
it
on
the
track
of
really
good
research
systems.
And
that
sort
of
thing,
and
so
we
developed
this
idea
of
having
it
in
the
daytime
in
this
wonderful
facility
in
the
in
the
auditorium
and
have
a
work
session
with
it,
so
that
people
can
actually
get
help
and
get
on
the
right
track.
A
C
That's
it
that's
very
interesting,
some
of
our
members,
of
course,
from
from
the
society,
but
also
we
were
astounded
at
the
first
meeting
that
we
had
a
turn
up
turn
out
far
more
than
we
expected
and
the
idea
behind
it
was
to
give
people
more
information
on
what
researching
really
is
about.
It
isn't
just
clicking
on
an
online
site.
You
know
this
became
that
genealogy
became
a
huge,
huge
hobby
hobby,
an
interest
back
in
the
70s,
with
Alex
Haley's
roots
right
thing
and
everybody
got
into
it.
C
That's
when
I
got
started,
and
that
was
before
Internet
days,
sure
and
so
forth,
and
there
is
a
great
deal
online
to
be
had
as
far
as
data
and
lots
of
great
data,
but
only
about
ten
percent
of
everything
in
the
world
of
original
documents
about
people
is
available
online
so
and
the
online
sites
do
not
promote
good
research
technique.
They
just
give
you
the
data
and
promote
how
easy
it
is
to
get
click
here.
Do
that
pay
here
sort
of
thing,
so
we
wanted
to
go
beyond
that,
because
people
were
coming
to
us
frustrated.
C
C
All
this
stuff-
they
didn't
know
if
it
was
right,
they
didn't
know
what
to
do
with
it.
Everybody
had
these
huge
piles
all
over
their
homes,
and
so
we
thought,
okay,
here's
an
opportunity
to
help
people
learn
how
to
do
research
and
have
really
good
information
and
data
on
their
families.
That
has
validity
and
is
they
can
be
very
proud
of
it,
putting
it
together.
So
we've
come
a
long
way
and
the
kind
of
people
that
want
to
learn
that
and
learn
track
down.
A
I
know,
what's
really
been
interesting
from
my
point
of
view
is
to
see
how
diverse
your
your
topics
are.
I
mean,
so
you
have
developed
a
program
schedule
this
year,
just
like
last
year
from
September
through
May,
so
there
are
outside
presenters.
I
mean
you
really
have
done
a
great
job
of
identifying
experts
in
different
fields
within
genealogy
who
have
come
to
the
library
and,
as
you
said,
give
about
one
hour
of
of
a
presentation
how
to
demonstration
about
a
particular
topic
or
method
of
research
that.
C
A
C
C
Is
the
presentation
by
our
speaker?
The
second
hour
is
a
help
session
and
the
library
provides
computers
or
people
can
bring
their
own
computers
and
then
some
of
us,
some
of
the
members,
are
around
to
help
people
actually
delve
into
the
subject
of
the
morning
to
find
out
more
whether
its
senses,
whether
it's
land
records
or
whatever,
to
find
that
information
online
and
how
to
obtain
it
and
so
forth,
and
some
people
come
with
other
questions
and
that's
fine
too.
C
C
A
This
is
a
perfect
kind
of
a
partnership
because
you're
helping
us
by
identifying
the
experts
within
the
content
areas,
and
then
we
are
able
to
provide
the
laptops
and
the
wireless
access,
etc,
and
then
just
the
friendly
assistance
of
people
from
the
society
who
I
know
do
stand
or
you
know,
stay
around
and
help.
Are
there
any
particular
presenters
coming
up
in
the
beginning
of
the
season
that
you
want
to
highlight.
I
know
we're
starting
with.
Is
it
Dennis,
Allen
who's.
A
C
But
there's
always
new
things
coming
up
in
new
techniques
and
even
new
sites
online
and
news
about
how
to
access
courthouses
and
things
like
that,
because
that's
changing
dramatically
so
dennis
is
a
terrific
speaker
and
he
will
be
here
and
he
always
has
lots
of
handouts
and
materials
for
people
and
he's
one
of
our
most
popular
speakers.
So.
C
Great
Depression
years
and
I
was
specifically
in
Iowa,
although
anything
that
happened
in
Iowa
of
course
pertains
to
other
states.
But
there
are
tremendous
that
we
have
background
things
and
historical
things
to
give
people
an
idea
of
where
their
ancestors
lived
and
how
they
live
and
what
impacted
their
lives
and
what
records
there
would
be.
And.
B
C
B
C
Okay,
allow
Exedra
Phillips
he's
going
to
talk
about
the
education
in
the
United
States,
the
birth
of
it,
who
went
to
school,
who
didn't
go
to
school.
What
ages
were
were
than
norm
for
people
to
go
to
school
and
where
those
records,
because
there's
still
a
lot
of
records
from
the
old
schools
in
particularly
the
country,
schools
right.
B
A
These
are
just
three
examples
of
a
series
that
has
nine
different
presentations
so
I'm,
hoping
that
our
viewers
will
really
be
curious
to
find
out
more
and
come
to
the
first
session
in
September.
Also,
we
will
have
a
brochure,
as
we
did
last
year,
that
has
the
whole
year's
schedule
at
at
folks.
Fingertips
that'll
be
available
fairly
soon
and,
of
course,
details
about
genealogy
plus
will
also
be
within
our
monthly
calendars
just
to
review.
When
does
it
meet
again?
Linnet
the
the
series
is
I,
think
the
third
Wednesday
uh-huh
of
every
month
right.
B
A
A
A
And
I
also
want
to
mention
that
we
are
sitting
here
today
in
an
area
just
in
front
of
the
genial,
the
genealogy
reference
collection
that
we
have
here
at
the
library
and
I'd
like
to
acknowledge
that
the
purchases
that
we've
made
for
decades
have
been
purchased
with
donations
from
the
story
county,
genealogical
society
partnering
with
the
ames
public
library
to
develop
the
collection.
So
we
have
print
resources,
of
course,
for
folks
here
in
the
library
you've
mentioned,
some
online
resources
and
the
library
does
subscribe
to
both
heritage.
A
Library
edition-
and
I
know
that
in
the
past
during
a
couple
of
years,
series
you've
done
some
tutorials
and
presentations
on
using
those
online
resources.
So
again
we're
just
so
fortunate
that
you
bring
the
people
are
interested
in
the
topic
to
our
library,
where
we
can
talk
about
the
resources
the
library
has
as.
B
C
A
A
A
A
I'm,
so
glad
that
Lynette
and
Bonnie
joined
me
this
morning,
so
that
you
can
get
a
little
bit
of
a
sense
of
what
to
look
forward
to
this
coming
season
with
genealogy
plus
again,
genealogy
plus
will
begin
on
Wednesday
September
21st
ten
o'clock
until
12
o'clock.
If
you
have
any
questions
about
this
or
other
programs
at
your
library,
stop
by
the
adult
services
desk
on
the
second
floor,
give
us
a
call
or
shoot
us
an
email
and
we'd
be
happy
to
give
you
more
information.
A
Details
about
all
of
our
programming,
of
course,
will
be
published
in
our
monthly
newsletter
page
one
which
you
can
pick
up
in
a
print
format
or
you
can
have
delivered
to
your
email,
monthly
feel
free
to
also
frequently
check
out
our
Facebook
page,
where
we
feature
all
kinds
of
activities
and
fun
information
about
the
library
and
the
book
world
in
general.
Follow

there's
really
a
lot
going
on
there.
