A
A
So
one
question
we've
been
getting
frequently,
which
is
right
in
your
area
of
expertise,
involves
what
we
can
expect
this
summer
and
to
give
a
little
context
in
2020.
We
saw
facilities
closed,
we
saw
programs
canceled
and
we
saw
changes
in
the
way
that
your
department
operates.
B
B
You
know
regarding
the
the
covet
19
virus
and
the
pandemic,
and
and
how
to
try
to
provide
safe
facilities
for
staff
and
our
our
users
so
and,
as
we
all
know,
those
guidelines
that
we've
been
going
off
of
whether
it's
federal
state
or
local
or
in
some
cases,
all
three
sometimes
changed
quite
a
bit
and
they
change
frequently
and
we
had
to
make
changes
on
the
fly.
So
over
the
year
we
did
open
our
facilities,
but
we
did
have
some
changes.
B
We
had
people
registering
for
lap
swim,
I
had
to
register
for
a
basketball
hoop
or
if
they
wanted
to
come
down
and
use
the
the
weight
room
or
the
cardio
room.
Some
of
our
programs
were
canceled
because
people
just
weren't
ready
to
to
come
back
in
a
group
setting
over
the
past
year.
We
did
two
surveys
to
try
to
understand
when
our
customers
were
ready
to
come
back
and
what
they
were
looking
for
when
they
they
came
back.
B
So
we
did
offer
a
lot
of
outdoor
activities
last
year,
especially
in
the
wellness
category,
and
we
also
did
a
number
of
virtual
activities.
So
some
of
those
are
going
to
continue
to
happen
as
we
go
forward
and
we
have
found
that
the
way
we
do
business
will
probably
change
from
this
point
forward.
So
again,
more
outdoor
wellness
programs,
the
the
continuance
of
some
virtual,
whether
it's
fitness
classes,
we
did
some
concerts
and
so
on.
B
So
as
we
move
into
2021
for
the
summer,
one
of
the
biggest
changes
you'll
see
is
that
we
are
going
to
open
from
an
aquatic
center
and
we
do
have
some
covert
protocol
that
will
be
put
on
our
website.
B
For
starters,
we
are
going
to
be
opening
that
75
percent
of
our
capacity,
which
allows
us
to
have
just
over
a
thousand
patrons
in
the
facility
at
a
time
and
that
may
change
you
know,
depending
on
on
what
the
conditions
are,
but
people
will
have
to
wear
masks
when
they're
standing
in
line
or
going
to
the
concession
stand
or
using
the
locker
room.
B
Most
of
our
other
programs.
We
are
going
to
be
offering
again.
There
will
be
covid
things
in
place,
but
but
people
have
started
coming
back
just
for
example,
in
the
spring,
our
spring
soccer
program,
we
saw
about
three
times
as
many
participants
as
than
what
we
did
in
the
fall
and
people
are
starting
to
to
tell
us
they're
ready
to
come
back
and
and
and
and
we'll
continue
to
to
do
and
look
for
ways
to
again
provide.
You
know,
safe
activities
for
the
patrons
and
our
our
staff.
A
It
looks
like
maybe
there's
some
pent-up
demand
for
some
of
those
recreational
opportunities.
B
There
is,
and
and
one
of
the
things
that
we
saw
over
this
past
year-
and
I
think
this
will
continue-
I
think
really
people
were,
I
guess-
maybe
reunited
with
with
the
outdoors
and
go
into
parks,
and
some
of
our
parks
saw
a
tremendous
increase
in
in
participation,
and
we
encourage
you
to
do
that.
B
We
have
38
parks
in
the
city
of
ames
and
and
you
should
really
try
to
go
out
and
go
to
parks
that
you
haven't
been
to
before
and
and
you'll
be
able
to
to
find
some
really
neat
and
unique
spaces
that
a
lot
of
our
residents
don't
know
even
exist.
B
So
you
can
go
to
our
website,
which
is
ames
park,
rec
and-
and
you
can
look
to
see
what
we're
doing.
We
generally
have
done
a
brochure
that
we've
mailed
in
the
past,
and
we
have
not
done
that.
So
what
we've
been
doing
is
is
creating
little
mini
guides.
We
have
one
for
wellness,
we
have
one
for
recreational
opportunities
and
you
can
access
those
on
our
website
and
then
you
can
also
register
online.
B
If
you
have
any
questions
at
any
time,
you
can
always
call
us
at
515-239-5350,
and
someone
will
help
you
with
with
all
of
your
questions.
A
Okay,
final
question:
opening
day
for
furman.
B
Opening
day
for
furman
will
be
saturday
may
29th
and
and
season
passes,
buy
them
they're,
they're
gonna
be
on
sale,
so
so
come
to
parks
and
recreation.
Get
your
season
pass
and
and
would
love
to
see
you
out
at
furman,
in
the
parks
and
at
all
of
our
programs
for
the
coming
summer.
A
Thank
you
