From YouTube: Ames Responds to COVID-19 | Episode 10
Description
In this latest episode of “Ames Responds to COVID-19,” we’ll learn more from Steve Sullivan with @marygreeleymedicalcenter about how COVID test results are reported in Story County. Also, Ames City Attorney Mark Lambert explains some of the recent updates to Governor Kim Reynolds’ proclamations about pandemic restrictions. Finally, Merry Rankin, Director of Sustainability at Iowa State University (@ISUlivegreen) shares information about a creek cleanup in June that lets volunteers get outside and give back to the community.
A
Hi
welcome
to
aims
response.
This
is
a
question
and
answer
program
where
an
organization's
answer
your
Co
bit.
Nineteen
related
questions,
I'm
Susan,
gooiest,
a
public
relations
officer
for
the
city
of
Ames.
We
have
several
questions
that
have
come
in
this
past
week
and
we
have
several
organizations
ready
to
respond.
If
you
have
a
cub
in
nineteen
related
question,
let
us
know
give
us
a
call
on
our
hotline.
B
Thanks
Susan,
yes,
there
is
still
a
limit
of
ten
people
for
mass
gatherings,
but
there
is.
There
are
a
lot
of
exceptions
to
that
now,
so
the
governor's
latest
proclamations
have
allowed
more
people
than
that.
As
long
as
you
engage
in
social
distancing,
so
you
can
have
groups
larger
than
ten
and
that's
specifically
true
for
outside
venues
such
as
a
shelter
at
one
of
the
city
parks
so
on.
A
A
Our
next
question
is
also
a
question:
we've
gotten
in
more
than
once
and
I'm
going
to
turn
to
Steve
Sullivan
with
mayor
Greeley,
Medical
Center.
To
answer
this
question
question
our
Kobuk
19
tests
reported
for
Story
County
based
on
the
residents
home
address,
or
are
they
based
on
the
county
where
the
person
is
tested?
The.
C
Counts
are
based
on
the
residents
home
county.
So
when
someone
takes
a
test,
no
matter
where
they
get
that
test,
the
results
are
reported
to
the
state
to
the
Iowa
Department
Public
Health
positive
tests
are
reported
to
the
person's
home
Public
Health
County
Public
Health
Office.
So
if
you
are
a
resident
of
Story
County
and
you
are
tested
at
say,
a
test
Iowa
site
in
Marshall,
County
or
Polk
County,
and
you
test
positive
that
will
be
reported
to
the
Story
County,
Public,
Health
and
vice-versa.
If
you're
tested.
C
Let's
say
you
live
in
Polk
County,
you
happen
to
work
in
Ames,
you
happen
to
be
tested
in
McFarland
and
it's
a
positive
that
will
be
reported
to
the
Polk
County
Public
Health.
When
it
is
reported,
the
public
health
official,
Perl
II
will
contact
the
patient's
provider
first
and
then
the
provider
would
contact
the
patient.
That's
preferred.
Otherwise.
Eventually,
though,
the
public
health
nurse
will
contact
the
patient,
who
has
received
the
positive
results
and
follow
up
with
them
and
then
start
the
the
tracing
process.
So.
C
You
have
to
remember,
there
are
99
counties,
there
are
increasing
places
for
testing
increasing
availability
of
testing.
That
just
means
a
lot
more
numbers
and
a
lot
more
stew
sticks
to
take
care
of.
So
yes,
sometimes
people
are
incorrectly
slotted
into
in
their
home
county.
So
those
are
corrected.
Some
results
come
in
a
little
later
than
you
might
anticipate
in
some
cases.
So
it's
an
imperfect
system,
but
it
is.
It
is
working
pretty
well
considering
the
volume
of
information
they're
having
to
deal
with
on
a
weekly
basis,
sure.
A
C
Remain
we
remain
busy
and
we're
getting
busier,
because
we've
started
up
surgical
procedures,
we're
also
as
the
as
the
the
economy
is
opening
up
we're,
seeing
a
lot
more
people
who
expect
the
hospital
toe
to
open
up
its
visitor
policies.
We
are
taking
those
under
serious
consideration
right
now.
We
anticipate
some
changes
being
put
into
place
next
week.
Right
now
we
have
an
O
visitor
policy
with
a
few
exceptions.
C
We
have
put
some
except
some
additional
exceptions
into
place
this
just
this
week
and
actually
last
week,
so
people
who
come
to
the
hospital
with
somebody
who
has
mobility
issues
they
will
be
allowed
in
those
cases
if
they
pass
the
screening
to
accompany
that
person
to
their
appointment.
If
there
is
a
safe
place
for
them
to
wait
wherever
that
appointment
may
be
say
it's
in
the
wound,
clinic,
for
example,
they
will
be
allowed
to
wait.
C
If
not,
we
may
ask
them
to
go
way
back
and
wait
in
their
car,
but
otherwise
they
will
be
able
to
accompany
their
patient.
Who
has
mobility
issues,
we're
also
allowing
minor
patients
to
have
to
parents
or
guardians
with
them,
as
opposed
to
one?
We
anticipate
opening
up
the
visitor
policy
a
little
bit
more
next
week,
but
we
will
retain
the
emphasis
on
safety,
of
course,
and
we
will
continue
screening
everybody
who's
coming
into
the
hospital.
The
screening
process
is
going
to
be
here
for
a
good
while
good.
C
A
D
We're
very
fortunate
in
that
we
were
able
to
hold
one
of
our
annual
events
this
summer.
The
college
Creek
cleanup
events,
as
was
mentioned,
outdoor
activities
offer
more
of
an
opportunity
to
have
safe
social
and
physical,
distancing
and
consideration
of
those
precautions
related
to
Cove
8:19.
This
is
one
of
those
events
for
us
at
Iowa
State
and
it's
also
a
city
event.
College
Creek
goes
through
both
University
grounds
and
city
grounds.
So
it's
a
wonderful
win-win
opportunity
to
come
out
and
help
us
clean
up
College
Creek.
D
We
are
putting
into
effect
certain
considerations
specifically
related
to
ensuring
that
we
have
a
safety
and
health
consideration
related
to
Coba
19.
We
are
doing
all
of
our
registration
online
this
year
and
check-in
will
be
within
social
and
physical,
safe
distancing.
We
also
are
working
to
ensure
that
supplies
are
distributed
in
a
con
and
a
no-contact
manner
to
volunteers
coming
in
so
we
will
provide
trash
bags
and
also
gloves
in
a
no-contact
manner.
D
Track
trappers
will
also
be
available
that
we
will
ensure
are
cleaned
and
ready
for
our
volunteers
to
be
able
to
handle
when
volunteers
come
back
in.
We
have
them
dropping
off
the
trash
bags
in
a
manner
that
then
staff
will
make
sure
to
tie
them
up
and
get
the
trash
to
the
needed,
proper
disposal
manner
and
we're
also
providing
refreshments
to
volunteers.
D
So
we've
really
given
a
lot
of
thought
to
this,
but
this
great
opportunity,
College
Creek,
is
not
an
area,
that's
particularly
easily
accessible,
but
it's
so
beautiful
when
you
get
down
into
that
Creek
area
and
we're
really
excited
to
have
people
help
us.
The
event
is
being
held
on
June
27th.
It
is
a
drop-in
as
you're
able
event
from
10
a.m.
to
2
p.m.
again.
D
We
ask
that
people
register
online,
so
we
know
who's
coming
and
we
have
enough
supplies
for
all
of
them,
but
we
will
say
that
you're
able
to
come
and
go
as
it
works
for
you
we'll
have
somebody
there
at
all
times
to
greet
you
to
provide
you
with
supplies
and
to
check
you
out
when
you
are
completed,
and
we
also
again
will
provide
you
with
bags
with
gloves
with
trash
grabbers.
But
we
just
ask
that
people
dress
accordingly.
There's
you
know
there.
There
are
weeds.
D
There
are
as
undergrowth
to
get
down
to
the
creek
so
make
sure
that
you
use
bug
spray
use
sunscreen,
you
know,
wear
clothes
that
can
get
wet.
You
don't
all
have
to
go
into
the
creek
we're
allowing
pickup
along
the
creek
beds
as
well,
but
we
look
forward
to
having
people
join
us
and
they
can
get
more
information
and
find
that
living
for
registration
on
the
lib
green
website,
which
is
Lib,
Green,
Dot
IA
state
et
you
I,
was.
A
D
Great
question
we
have
check.
Excuse
me.
We
have
check-in
in
the
four
core
building
parking
lot
on
the
Iowa
State
campus,
which
is
parking
lot
number.
Fifty
a
if
you
look
at
a
map
on
the
Iowa
State
website.
If
you
register
we'll,
also
send
you
confirmation
information
as
well
directing
you
to
all
those
spots,
but
so
College
Creek
runs
basically
from
University
Boulevard,
which
is
out
by
the
lead
recreation
center.
D
It
goes
through
campus
ends
at
the
Memorial
Union
parking
lot
and
then
dips
under
Lincoln,
Way
and
pops
back
up
behind
the
First
Methodist
Church
in
campus
town
and
it's
those
two
areas
and
then
goes
from
the
First
Methodist
Church
past
the
intermodal
facility,
and
so
it's
those
two
areas
that
we
really
focus
on
and
those
two
areas
will
be
supplied
with
staff
to
assist
volunteers.
Answer
any
questions
make
sure
you
have
all
the
supplies.
You

well.
