From YouTube: Ames Responds to COVID-19 | Episode 16
Description
On this episode of Ames Responds to Covid-19, we speak with Erin Rosacker with Iowa State University's Office of Strategic Relations and Communications about the Cyclones Care Initiative and how that impacts students and the City of Ames.
A
Hi
welcome
to
ames
response
to
cobia
19,
a
question
and
answer
program
where
ames
area
organizations
respond
to
coven
19
questions
from
you.
Our
aim
citizens,
I'm
susan
guyasa,
public
relations
officer
with
the
city
of
ames.
My
guest
today
is
aaron
rosacker,
a
communications
specialist
with
the
iowa
state
university
office
of
strategic
relations
and
communications.
A
A
So
iowa
state
university
began
his
classes
recently.
How
do
you
think
it's
going.
B
You
know
we
put
a
lot
of
work
into
the
cyclones
care
campaign,
we've
been
preparing
for
the
return
of
students
for
months
and
weeks
and
really
went
full
steam
ahead
with
this
campaign
to
get
it
implemented
in
time
and
I'm
really
pleased
with
it.
The
campus
looks
good,
it's
blanketed
and
cyclones
care.
The
messaging
has
gone
out.
Well,
we
continue
to
message
so
I'm
I'm
pleased.
A
So
tell
me
a
little
bit
again:
I
know
that
you
live
and
and
dream
this,
but
what
are
what
is
the
they're
called
the
four
pillars
of
healthy
decision
making
or
healthy
behaviors?
What
are
they?
Yes,
I
can.
B
Show
you
wear
a
face
covering
distance
six
feet
or
two
meters
wash
your
hands,
often
and
stay
home
when
you're
ill.
A
And
it
seems
to
me
that
most
people
have
probably
heard
that
messaging
before,
but
overall
do
you
find
it's
finding
its
finding
acceptance
on
campus
yep?
I.
B
Actually,
I've
heard
we've
had
some
staff
and
and
folks
out
handing
out
the
free
face
coverings
and
volunteering
at
the
check-in
move-in,
and
then
we
have
an
ambassador
program
that
we've
started
where
faculty
and
peers
students
their
peers.
It's
super
important
to
have
the
peers
involved
are
out
there,
just
handing
out
extra
face,
masks
or
face
coverings,
but
they
don't
have
to
hand
them
out
because
pretty
much
everybody
has
is
wearing
them.
So
that's
that's
really
good
to
hear
we
knew
some
of
the
problems
would
be.
B
You
know
getting
them
to
wear
the
face
coverings
outside
because
they
don't
realize
that
they're
on
crowded,
sidewalks
and
stuff,
but
we're
getting
that
message
across
we've
done
a
lot
of
signage
outdoors
as
well
to
make
to
to
really
push
the
where
face
covering
and
especially
especially
that
one
and
distancing
so
that
they
realize
that
when
you're
in
public,
you
have
to
do
this.
A
Yeah
and
just
to
be
clear
for
people
who
may
not
realize
it,
the
entire
campus
is
a
face
face
covering
zone
right.
B
A
So,
a
little
bit
of
a
bump
right
before
university
started.
We
had
a
lot
of
students
come
onto
campus
and
back
into
the
community
and
just
like
every
fall.
If
you've
lived
in
ames
for
years,
that
kind
of
excitement
and
buzz
kind
of
was
building,
and
I
I
think
we
got
a
sense
that
maybe
students
forgot
a
little
bit
about
their
responsibilities
as
a
kind
and
conscientious
citizen.
B
We
we
really
are
emphasizing
a
lot
that
they
need
to
take
these
healthy,
behaviors
off
campus
as
well
as
on,
and
you
know
that
that
again,
having
some
peer
help
with
that,
definitely
will
help
we're
just
going
to
keep
plugging
away
and
try
to
make
them
understand
that
these
are
healthy,
behaviors
on
and
off
campus
and
out
of
iowa,
no
better,
no
matter
where
they
came
from
we're
hoping
that
they
realize
these
are
how
you
protect
your
community,
yourselves
and
and
your
friends
and
your
loved
ones.
By
absolutely.
A
And
we
don't
want
to
generalize,
we
know
that
community
members
of
all
different
ages
may
forget
at
one
point
some
of
these
healthy
behaviors,
the
cyclone's
care
message,
has
been
sort
of
universally
adopted
throughout
ames.
Can
you
mention
some
of
the
other
organizations
that
you
know
have
kind
of
jumped
on
the
jumped
on
board
yeah.
B
You
will
see
a
lot
of
their
logos
on
some
big
spaces,
so
you
should
see
them
on
the
cyclo
cyride
buses,
billboards
and
ames
signs
in
buildings,
so
chamber
of
commerce,
mary
greeley
help.
B
A
Ames,
of
course,
city
of
ames
yeah.
We
were
one
of
the
first
ones
to
get
on
board
because
cyclone's
cares
is
such
an
important
message.
We
love
the
messaging
and
I
think
your
point
of
saying
it's
not
just
on
campus.
When
you
step
foot
off
of
campus,
it's
still
important
to
remember
those
healthy
pillars
of
behavior,
and
I
am
looking
forward
to
seeing
the
cy
ride
buses
drive
by
with
the
messaging
a
billboard.
I
saw
a
sign
up
at
the
north
grand
mall.
How
excited
that's.
B
Awesome
we
actually
have
a
lifetime
cut
out
of
psy.
The
cyclones,
carosi
you'll,
see
he's
taller
than
I
am
so
he's,
probably
six
or
seven
feet
tall
and
we
we
got
him
to
put
in
the
window.
Our
offices
are
here
on
the
corner
of
welch
and
lincoln
way,
so
he
is
up
he's.
We
got
him
to
be
up
there,
but
he's
been
so
popular
he's
been
set
up
all
around
campus
to
send
the
cyclones
care
message
as
well.
So.
A
Well,
aaron,
that's
a
great
update.
I
know
that
the
message
isn't
going
to
end
anytime
soon.
This
is
something
we're
going
to
deal
with
for
some
time
to
come.
So
good
luck!
I
hope
you
have
a
great
rest
of
the
rest
of
the
year.
