From YouTube: Healthy Living with Nancy Shaw | Spif Strength & Stretch
Description
This is a strength training class using resistance equipment such as dumbbells, xertubes, resistaballs and body bars followed by flexibility work to give you a complete workout!
A
A
Is
a
group
and
it's
instructor
here
at
Ames,
Parks
and
Recreation,
and
a
personal
trainer
and
Kathy
works
a
lot
with
our
senior
population,
so
Cathy
I
want
to
talk
with
you
today
about
our
class
on
our
group.
Fitness
kit
schedule
called
spiffs
strength
and
stretch
sure
so,
first
of
all
has
the
words
spiff
in
front
of
it.
What.
B
A
B
B
Right
so
we
actually
do
rotator
cuff
exercises
for
their
shoulders.
We
do
exercises
to
help
them
to
get
down
to
the
floor,
to
do
their
exercises
and
how
do
they
get
back
up
off
the
floor
because
several
have
had
knee
issues
or
surgeries
and
don't
feel
comfortable
either
getting
down
to
the
floor
or
are
not
sure
how
to
get
back
up
once
they
get
down
there.
B
B
20S,
that's
when
our
balance
is
the
best,
but
nobody
is
thinking
about
working
on
their
balance
right
monies.
So
we
work
on
balance
and
many
have
said.
Look
at
this
I
can
stand
on
one
leg,
so
much
better
than
I
did
before,
and
balance
is
important,
of
course,
for
fall.
Prevention
right,
but
I
actually
do
have
one
participant
who
there
is
no
way
she
can
get
down
on
the
floor.
So
I
give
her
a
modification
she
does
exercises
in
the
chair
or
standing
Wow.
A
A
They
going
really
something
that
will
help
them
develop
strength,
flexibility
just
be
able
to
move
and
feel
better
throughout
their
everyday
life
mm-hmm.
So
we
bought
some
of
the
some
of
the
toys
because
we
have
a
lot
of
toys
in
our
group
fitness
room,
but
these
are
just
few
the
toys
that
you
said
you
use,
so
you
want
to
show
me.
Your
have
me
demonstrate
some
of
the
exercises
and
tell
me
what
I
need
to
do
sure.
B
B
A
B
B
Bit
tougher
strength,
and
so
one
of
the
things
that
we
might
do
with
the
the
tubing
would
be
our
bicep
curls.
So
we
would
stand
with
that
tubing
in
the
arch
of
our
shoes,
and
one
of
the
things
that
I
have
found
with
the
group
of
people
that
come
to
my
class
is
that
a
lot
of
their
shoes
don't
have
this
little
divot
for
the
art
right,
it's
a
flat
shoe.
So
I
have
to
make
sure
that
this
is
in
the
right
spot.
So
it's
not
going
to
slip
out
in
any
way.
B
Then
I
have
them
stand
with
your
best
posture,
curl,
the
curl
up
and
down
keeping
their
wrist
neutral.
So
there's
no
bending
in
the
wrist
and
so
that
they're
working
only
their
biceps.
We
want
to
make
sure
that
they
don't
get
their
shoulders
involved,
because
that's
one
place
where
a
lot
of
the
people
will
try
to
use
their
shoulders.
I
have
a
device.
A
B
And
I
do
switch.
You
know
one
day,
we'll
use
dumbbells
one
day,
we'll
use
tubings.
One
of
the
other
benefits
of
the
tubing
is,
is
that
after
you
get,
it
stretched
up
all
their
up
all
the
way,
and
there
is
a
lot
of
tension
on
it.
You
have
to
have
that
control
that
eccentric
control
to
bring
it
back
so
that
it
doesn't
slam
back
down
so
you're,
actually
working
in
both
directions,
which
is
which
is
good
for
people.
A
B
Saying
so
I'm
going
to
let
you
keep
that
two-bit,
I'm
going
to
show
you
an
exercise
that
we
would
do
then
for
like
rotator,
cuff
and
for
scapula
scapula.
So
it's
called
a
scapular
retraction
I'm
just
going
to
grab
up
on
the
tubing
a
little
bit
closer
and
you're
going
to
stand
with
your
best
posture.
So
you
know
that
you're
you're,
taking
your
shoulder
blades
and
you're,
pulling
them
down
in
the
center
in
a
V
okay.
B
So
your
neck
is
nice
and
long
and
you're
just
going
to
pull
back
and
as
you
do
that
I
want
you
to
make
sure
that
you're
pulling
your
shoulder
blades
back
first
before
your
shoulders
shows
shoulder
blades
come
back
and
then
shoulder
blades
come
forward.
So,
yes,
the
arms
come
back
and
the
elbows
come
back
but
you're
taking
those
shoulder
blades
back
as
well.
One
more
yeah
definitely
feel
that
you.
A
A
A
A
A
And
they
all
check
up
on
each
other
and
make
sure
so
that
makes
it,
as
you
said,
a
lot
of
fun
to
come
back
week
after
week
right
well,
those
are
some
great
examples
of
exercises
that
will
see
in
the
spiff
strength
and
stretch
class,
which
is
held
mondays
and
fridays
from
eight
to
nine
eight.
We
have
a
new
session
starting
in
January,
so
good
time
to
get
started.
It's
right,
the
holiday
and
holidays
over
and
the
new
year
upon
us
so
Kathy.
