From YouTube: This Week in Ames
Description
Stash the Trash is coming up soon. Learn about the event and how to participate on this weeks show.
A
A
C
So
stash
the
trash
this
year
involves
really
quite
a
few
people
and
organizations
all
across
the
community.
It
combines
campus
and
community,
but
it
started
out
as
a
community
event.
The
then
editor
of
the
paper
Dave
Kramer,
the
editor
of
the
Ames
Tribune,
was
a
member
of
the
morning
rotary
and
they
did
this
as
a
service
project
and
more
and
more
people
got
involved
as
the
years
went
by
in
2007
stash
the
trash
as
a
community
event
was
joined
by
visha
service
day
and
keep
iowa
state
beautiful.
C
B
This
year
it
will
be
saturday
april
six,
the
vision,
a
part
of
that
is
that
they
offer
volunteer
opportunities
for
students.
So
they
look
for
project
activities
on
that
particular
day
in
association
with
v10
beach
activities,
which
won't
happen
officially
later
on
that
month.
One
of
the
projects
that
they
selected
as
stash
the
trash
and
they
named
there's
keep
iowa
state
beautiful
their
portion
of
that.
A
A
C
That
is
appears
to
be
the
case,
although
I
have
to
say
you
know
it's
a
our
best
guess,
because
we
do
know
that
there
are
a
lot
of
people
out
there
just
on
their
own
they're,
not
necessarily
signing
up
or
checking
in
but
they're
just
cleaning
up
in
their
neighborhood,
and
we
really
encourage
that.
We
want,
would
love
to
have
people
sign
up
with
us
or
let
us
know
that
they
did
pick
up
trash
in
their
area
or
their
neighborhood
or
some
place
that
they
selected.
C
So
this
year
this
is
the
first
year
that
participants
are
signing
up
at
the
volunteer
center
of
story,
county
website
and
that's
at
WWDC
story.
Org
people
can
also
do
a
browser
search
and
get
there.
But
what
we've
done
is
we've
taken
the
locations
and
made
a
kind
of
a
guesstimate
of
the
number
of
amount
of
time.
It
would
take
a
certain
number
of
people
to
clean,
give
or
take
an
hour.
So
we've
got
locations,
for
example,
Mortensen,
road
or
ada
hayden,
Brookside,
Park
and
participants
can
go
in
there
and
sign
up
and
we'll
say.
C
Well,
we
think
Brookside
Park
will
take
15
people
approximately
an
hour
to
clean
up
all
throughout
Brookside
Park,
so
you
can
go
in
there
as
a
group
or
as
an
individual,
and
you
know
say
that
you'll
sign
up
there.
So
that
way
we
don't
have
a
lot
of
duplication,
but
we
get
as
many
areas
covered
as
possible
and.
B
B
A
A
C
Are
making
garbage
bags
and
gloves
available
to
people,
so
we
do
have
a
check
in
at
reiman
gardens
again
this
year,
you're
not
required
to
check
in
there,
but
it's
an
opportunity
for
you
to
come.
We
will
have
in
the
morning
coffee
and
donuts
and
hot
dog
lunch
at
noon,
but
also
you
can
check
in
if
you
don't
have
a
location,
yet
you
can
get
a
location
and
pick
up
those
materials
and
also
you
can
bring
back
trash
to
Reiman
Gardens.
C
Do
it's
really
impressive
and
Reiman
Gardens
has
just
been
such
a
wonderful
partner
in
the
past,
we've
had
our
check-in
in
a
tent
out
on
the
parking
lot.
This
year
will
be
able
to
go
through
the
old
gate
and
go
into
reiman
gardens
into
one
of
the
outer
building
there
and
actually
check-in
inside
and
we'll
also
have
the
coffee
and
doughnuts
and
the
lunch
there
inside
as
well.
Well,.
A
In
stage
the
trash
is
a
huge
deal
to
the
city
of
Ames,
because
in
the
end,
the
resource
recovery
plant
that
is
processing
the
trash
and
it's
a
great
waste
energy
facility-
that's
been
here
since
1975
and
we
love
every
opportunity
to
promote
what
it
is.
We
do
at
resource
recovery,
but
we're
happy
to
partner
we're,
not
the
only
partners.
This
is
a
big
event.
It
involves
a
lot
of
people
that
helped
pull
it
off.
We.
C
Have
a
lot
of
great
partners-
and
we
talked
about
the
Ames
morning-
rotary.
The
Ames
Tribune
have
been
great
partners,
Kent
getting
the
the
word
out
and
they
were
again
they
were,
they
got
it
started.
So
they've
been
great
partners
all
of
these
years.
The
city
of
Ames
resource
recovery,
of
course
great
partners.
We
couldn't
do
it
without
you
guys,
iowa
home
consulting,
has
been
a
great
partner.
C
They
do
a
great
service
by
picking
up
like
if
you're
out
somewhere,
say
on
highway,
interchange
and
you've
got
six
bags
of
trash,
and
you
don't
want
to
put
them
into
your
car
to
haul
them
back
to
reiman
gardens
will
give
you
a
number
where
you
can
call
iowa
home,
consulting
an
matthew,
bradner
there
and
they'll
come
and
pick
up
those
bags.
So
we.
C
B
A
C
C
Is
you
live
green
keep
Iowa
State
beautiful?
We
talked
about
them,
reiman
gardens
the
ISU
student
activities
center
does
a
lot
of
student
volunteering,
so
they
are
very
helpful
in
helping
to
organize
and
promote
this
as
well
as
visha
campus
and
community
involvement.
The
volunteer
center
of
story,
county
and
city
garbage,
so
just
a
lot
of
participation
among
a
lot
of
people
throughout
the
community.
Now.
A
C
B
Provides
the
garbage
container
for
us
that's
their
donation
to
this.
This
project
and
they'll
weigh
all
the
trash
that
we
collect
at
ryman
garden,
the
trash
that's
collected
on
campus.
We
try
to
guesstimate
what
that
is.
We
know
how
many
bags
were
handing
out
so
when
we
think
we
get
a
fairly
good
estimate
on
the
volume
there
so
between
the
two
way,
we
think
forget
pretty
good
representations
well,.
B
B
Better,
what
we
haven't
been
able
to
do
is
shelly
mentioned
earlier
is
that
we
know
the
community
is
out
there
doing
this
on
their
own,
and
the
idea
of
having
them
come
to
Rye
mcgard
needed
bring.
The
trash
or
register
just
allows
us
to
get
a
more
accurate
reflection
on
what's
happening
in
the
community,
so
ideally
we're
encouraging
people
to
participate
at
that
level.
So
we
would
get
good
representation
on
the
volume
set
and
we're
collecting
a
number
of
people
who
are
participating
well.
A
C
C
It
really
is,
and
we
encourage
schools
and
clubs
and
so
on
and
something
new
this
year
is
we've
been
in
conversation
with
Jeff
Benson
from
planning
and
housing,
and
we
have
put
into
our
areas
that
people
can
sign
up
for
all
of
the
neighborhood
areas
like
I'm
in
the
North
Old
Town
neighborhood,
so
the
city
is
going
to
Jeff
is
going
to
be
sending
out.
You
know
some
information
to
those
neighborhood
associations
and
saying
you
know
you
can
sign
up
and
do
stash
the
trash
in
your
own
neighborhood,
and
we
encourage
you
to
do
that.
C
A
C
C
A
The
river
in
the
river-
well,
that's
really
really
interesting,
it
kind
of
you
could
you
couldn't
share
the
stories?
Alright,
so
well.
Shelly,
Bob,
I,
appreciate
you
stopping
by
this
is
a
great
event.
Obviously
we
have
information
on
our
website.
You
have
sign
ups
on
your
websites
as
well
at
april
six.
I
hope
our
viewers
will
take
a
moment
to
sign
up
and
participate
and
thanks
for
coming
well.
A
Remember
if
you
want
to
participate
in
stash
the
trash
go
to
one
of
the
websites
on
screen
and
sign
up
by
april.
Third,
but
if
you
forget,
you
could
simply
show
up
at
reiman
gardens
on
saturday
april
sixth
and
get
checked
in
another
community
event
that
focuses
on
the
environment
is
our
own
eco,
fair.
Remember
that
event
is
from
10
a-m
to
2
p.m.
on
saturday
march
30th
we'd
love
to
see
you
there
it's
at
the
community
center
gym.
Well,
that's
our
show
for
today,
thanks
for
watching
and
tune
in
next
week.
