As
we
all
know,
our
community
is
growing
right
now
and
with
the
new
community,
with
the
new
students
come
into
town,
we
have
lots
of
initiatives
on
our
part.
You
know
we
try
to
get
out
to
the
fraternities
and
sororities
with
fire
inspections,
avenges
safety
talks.
We
spent
a
lot
of
time
trying
to
educate
new
students
on
what
it
means
to
live
on
your
own,
so
we
get
hit
them
hard
with
the
cooking.
You
know
that
you
put
a
pizza
in
the
oven,
you
have
to
take
it
out,
sort
of
things.
B
A

A
B
It's
it's
really
one
of
those
key
things
to
life.
I
stay
at
a
hotel,
I,
take
my
family
and
find
the
accents.
I
mean
that's
how
obvious
even
my
business
I'm
paranoid
about
that.
But
it's
really
important
because
it'll
be
a
smoky
environment
typically
and
it
won't
be
just
stand
up
and
walk
so
just
to
know
those
escape
plans
is
key.
Well.
A
B
Be
there
we
participate
as
the
city
of
ames
as
a
whole,
then
once
again
try
to
get
that
safety
message
out
about
smoke,
detectors
carbon
monoxide
detectors
and
in
the
Iowa
State
community,
with
the
automatic
systems
out
medical
arms
just
really
enforce
the
importance
of
when
there's
an
alarm
going
off,
get
out
of
the
building,
don't
wait
and
see
if
there's
a
fire,
that's
our
job
to
come
and
see.
So
if
the
alarm
is
going
off,
you
need
to
need
to
exit
the
building
and.

Safety
week
s,
the
big
week
is
centers
on
the
week
that
the
Great
Chicago
Fire
happen.
So
while
we
covet
October
8th
falls
in
this
week's,
are
this
year's
theme
is:
don't
wait
check
the
date,
so
we've
always
focused
on
changing
those
batteries
twice
a
year
in
the
smoke
detectors,
which
is
still
very
important,
that
this
is
focusing
on
replacing
the
whole
smoke
detector
because
they
have
a
ten
year
lifespan
due
to
products
in
the
home
for
moisture
and
stuff
like
that
they
do
they
fail.
The
sensors
will
start
to
fail.
B
B
Could
assume
leave
it,
but
it
wouldn't
hurt
I,
always
take
care
of
myself,
so
check
them
and
see
if
they're
older
than
that
have
a
conversation
with
your
landlord
can
see
if
they
would
get
them
changed
out
for
you,
along
with
that,
comes
to
the
CO
detectors
kind
of
the
same
theme.
You
know
they
do
get
saturated
after
a
period
of
time
and
CO
detectors
are
also
very
important
life
safety
tool
as.
B
We're
doing
a
little
different
this
year
in
the
fact
that
it's,
the
Saturday
be
four
or
five
prevention
week.
So
it'll
be
saturday
october,
eight
from
nine
to
noon
here
at
station
1
we've
got
some
great
raffle
ticket
type
door,
prizes
all
related
to
fire
safety
equipment
that
you'll
be
able
to
get
and
just
to
see
a
display
of
the
different
equipment
we
use
for
the
different
types
of
calls.
We
go
on:
it's
not
just
fighting
fires.
It's
the
water
rescue,
the
cold
water
rescue.
A
Night
in
the
new
nine
to
noon
so
remember
october,
eight
nine
to
do
come
down
here
to
fire
station
number.
One
also
remember
you
can
visit
the
fire
firefighters
at
welcome
fest,
that's
the
Memorial
Union
on
August
twenty-fourth
and
don't
forget
fire
safety
week
in
October.
Remember
to
change
out
those
smoke
detectors.
They
also
expire
well.
Thank
you,
commander,
Allen
for
command
the
show
and
turn
in
next
week
for
this
weekend
aims.
