Description
Athens City Council - December 7, 2022
B
Good
evening
and
welcome
to
Athens
city
council,
it's
Wednesday
December
7th
at
702
pm
and
December
December
7
2022,
and
we
are
meeting
special
session
tonight.
It's
unusual.
We
had
a
meeting
on
Monday
night.
We
considered
some
ordinances,
but
at
that
time
we
had
two
members,
a
council
who
were
not
able
to
be
with
us,
and
so
we
were
not
able
to
move
forward
on
suspending
an
ordinance.
B
B
C
C
B
Thank
you
councilmember
Corral,
so
we
have
a
motion
and
second
and
any
comments
or
questions,
and
we
might
say
that
that
Grant
application
is
December,
9th
and
so
fast
approaching.
So
this
will
enable
us
to
go
ahead
and
submit
the
grant
thanks
to
the
administration
for
preparing
the
brand
application
and
getting
it
ready.
Council
member
swing.
D
E
It's
hard
to
put
an
actual
dollar
figure
on
that
when
it
comes
to
our
economic.
The
economic
impact
it'll
have
for
the
city
of
Athens,
the
Coshocton
for
Somerset
in
Perry
County,
as
well
as
two
projects
in
Logan.
But
you
know
it's
going
to
be
substantial
again,
it's
so
hard
for
me
to
put
a
number
on
it
because
it
is
five
distinct
projects
rolled
into
one.
So
it
truly
is
a
regional
request
and
the
other
thing
that's
fascinating
about
this.
E
We
put
a
lot
of
work
into
creating
what
will
be
a
passport
program
to
where
people
who
are
have
a
membership
at
the
Coshocton.
If
successful,
have
a
membership
at
the
Shockton
collaborative,
that's
transferable
down
here
to
Athens
or
to
one
of
the
two
sites
in
Logan
or
the
site
at
the
builders
Club
up
in
Somerset,
we've
been
working
on
this,
since
it
was
announced
by
the
governor
that
the
governor
was
planning
on
using
arpa
funding
at
the
state
level
to
put
500
million
towards
the
32
Appalachian
counties,
and
we
had
no
guidelines.
E
Yet
I
got
to
work
working
with
my
counterparts
across
the
state
within
the
Appalachian
region.
That
is
to
see,
if
you
know,
if
this,
if
anybody
had
any
other
co-work
share
Works
today's
projects
and
that's
why
we
arrived
at
the
the
five
sites
that
I
indicated,
but
customer
psych
it's
going
to
be
substantial.
You
know
when
you
sit
and
you
think
about
that
laced
with
visitors
coming
down
to
ride
in
the
Bailey
trail
system
and
deciding
to
extend
their
stay,
because
they
know
that
they
could
possibly
jump
into
the
Athens
co-work
share
workspace.
E
It
becomes
even
more
attractive
to
people
who
enjoy
outdoor
recreation
and
know
that
they
can
work
remotely
so,
but
it's
also
attractive,
I
think
for
OU
undergraduate
and
graduate
students
who
want
a
different
environment
in
which
to
work
from,
and
it
could
make
for
an
interesting
landing
pad
for
a
young
entrepreneur
to
get
off
their
kitchen
table
and
be
able
to
work
in
a
really
interesting
and
attractive
space.
So
we're
really
hopeful
that
our
request
is
successful
in
being
funded
so
that
we
can
really.
E
D
B
Opposed
nay
motion
carries
and
the
ordinance
is
approved,
and
now
we
will
have
I
might
make
just
a
comment
before
adjournment
that
we
will
have
likely
a
special
session
we'll
have
a
presentation
by
the
disabilities
Commission
on
Monday.
That
will
be
first
and
then
we'll
have
a
special
session.
Where
we'll
be
able
to
consider
the
other
remaining
ordinances
that
we
have
for
this
year
and
depending
on
whether
or
not
we
have
adequate
number
of
council
members,
then
suspension
could
be
considered
for
some
of
those
ordinances.
If
you
wanted
to
end
the
session
on
December
12th.
